Willa's Uproar
The very next day Jalissa began to work. She had promised herself that she would prove to Rain that she had made a mistake. "Golly that Jalissa really is upset." remarked Rain when she saw Jalissa practicing her tennis during free time. Even Lilac began to worry. "Come on old girl take a rest."
"Easy for you to say you made it on the team." huffed Jalissa. "Oh Jalissa don't be mad please!" said Lilac desperately. Jalissa huffed and dropped her racket. "Oh alright." Lilac grinned and pulled Jalissa away. After a long tea Lilac headed off to do prep. The work was steadily getting harder and some girls couldn't keep up. Lilac had good brains but she was only twelve and had never worked as hard before. Her french was standard but Mamzell Rougier was very ill tempered with her. "C'est terrible Lilac please review." Extra prep was piled on for those who were not brilliant. Later in the day silence hung in the room. All of the girls were hunched over their prep, their eyes squinting in concentration.
To help break the silence Lilac said "So what was the perfume trick Susy was talking about?" "Oh it was brilliant!" cried Mary. "I agree, It was a very expensive perfume that had a funny smell," began Jalissa. Lilac began to realize what they did. A giggle escaped her lips. "We sprayed all over the french room and when Mamzelle came in she smelled it right away!" said Jalissa. "She was so very startled and we all pretended not to smell anything." finished Jalissa.
Tammy started,"Of course it was oh so hard since the perfume did smell rather putrid." The room erupts in laughter. Tilly stood up red in the face.
"Would you lot quiet down, I'm trying to study!" She stormed out of the room and wrenched the door shut. Immediately Tina got on her case. "She's as mad as a hatter, that one." "Oh will you leave her alone!" cried Ambrosia.
Later on that day Tammy beckoned Ambrosia over. "Ambrosia old girl if you haven't noticed Tilly's having a hard time fitting in, would you talk to her?"
Ambrosia herself was worried about exams and didn't need distractions. She wanted to say no but felt bad and agreed. Later on that day Jalissa, who was in a rush to get back to the tennis courts ran past Daisy Glute, the sister of Susy Glute. Daisy with a gasp plunked over. Annoyed Jalissa doubled back to see if she was ok. "You beast!" cried Daisy red in the face.
"But it wasn't my fau-, began Jalissa. Daisy stood up and took out her punishment book. "Oh no please!" cried Jalissa. "You are a dirty rotten trickster and this should serve you right!" With that Daisy flounced off. Unlike Susy, Daisy was in the fifth and had a punishment book. Blow! Thought Jalissa as she ran back to the common room to memorise a beastly poem. Lilac got ready to practice for tennis and went off wondering where Jalissa was. As she walked onto the court she saw Rain talking to a particularly angry looking fourth former. "Im better than all of the people you put on those teams Rain I demand you add me at once!" "As I said Willa this isn't up for argument, although you are extremely skilled you aren't a team player and you steal all the glory!" Willa shrieked and stomped off.
Lilac was surprised at this behavior from a fourth former but shrugged it off and walked onto the court.
