The Sneak

"Bobbie, please report to Mrs. Peters, immediately." Matron said. "What could that possibly be?" Annabel asked, confused. "Well I'm about to find out." Bobbie replied nervously. "Hallo Mrs. Peters, you wanted to see me." Bobbie trembled in a meek voice. "I understand you played quite a big part in a trick of the third form today and I would like to inform you, Annabel will now be Ivy's deputy." Bobbie felt shocked and hurt. She had been quite pleased to be deputy and had barely gotten to see what it was like. "Of c-course Mrs. Peters." Bobbie acknowledged. She stumbled out of Mrs. Peters office in tears and tripped directly into Daisy Glute. "Watch where you going you little beast." She barked scornfully. She ripped out a page in her punishment book, scribbled something down. "But Daisy, I can't possibly learn a whole book of French poems by Saturday!" Bobbie squeaked. "Well," Daisy said, "You're going to have to."

Who could have sneaked on Bobbie? Yes she had played a rather large part, in fact she came up with the trick on the train, but the only people who were there were Annabel, Daffy and Katie. When she told the class about her misfortunes Annabel stepped in. "Sorry old girl, you can help me at the deputy job." She comforted. Bobbie felt warmed by her gesture and decided to rule Annabel out of suspicion. If someone wanted to steal her job, they wouldn't help her after. "I simply cannot believe it, Katie you sneak! You were the only one besides me and Annabel who knew that Bobbie came up with the trick so you must have sneaked!" Daffy accused. "I p-promise I didn't, I swear!" Katie pleaded, but no one believed her. "I vote we send her to Coventry till she apologizes to Bobbie and makes up for her actions" Daffy scoffed spitefully. "Agreed." The girls chorused hastily. How could Daffy think that, Katie thought. She had to prove that she was not the sneak, it was so unfair, for everyone thought she was! Daffy really liked Bobbie so she wouldn't think it was her, and Annabel too. Katie had ignored her, but no reason to accuse her! Any of them could have slipped to the sneak. Bobbie sorely went to do her punishment and noticed Annabel looking through Ivy's school prep. "Why, Bobbie, Ivy's answers are quite far off, is her mind in the right place?" Annabel queried. "I'm sure she's fine but don't tell anyone, it's not our secret to share." Bobbie said decidedly. "Don't worry, I won't tell a soul." Annabel said smiling. Katie bit her lip. Well looking for her english book in the closet, someone had closed the door on her! She overheard the whole conversation, careful not to make a noise. When she left the closet and entered the common room no one smiled. No one laughed, no one said anything to her. Katie burst out of the room, afraid she might cry again.
