MALIA TATE
FOUR— BAYOU SHOWDOWN

It wasn't until coming to New Orleans that Malia decided that she ultimately hated witches. A few are exempt from this, but otherwise witches just annoyed her. A great example of this is Agnes, of the French Quarter Witches, who was trying to convince Malia that she needed a prenatal checkup. While Malia knew it was important due to the pregnancy books that she had read (purchased by Klaus, though he still feigned disinterest in being a father towards those who knew), she didn't want Agnes to be the one to help her with this. There was something about the elder witch that just screamed don't trust her even more than the other witches.

"I feel fine, Agatha" Malia argued, purposefully messing up the name. "You're overdue for a checkup, child" Agnes struggled to stay calm as the werecoyote continued to test her patience.

"A lot of women would kill to have a child, let alone twins. It strikes me as odd that you're not taking better care of yours" Rebekah added, having been listening off on the sides with Hayley. Malia could sense the jealousy in Rebekah's voice, not even needing to scent her chemosigns, over the fact that she wasn't able to biologically have children anymore but Malia could, something the original vampire had wanted for over a thousand years.

"I know a doctor out in the Bayou, off the beaten path. Now, I took the liberty of making an appointment for you. Tonight, after-hours, just us. Vampires will never get word of it" Her shady offer made Malia even more on-edge. She didn't want to go to some creepy, shabby doctors office at nighttime. At least not alone, not just with someone she didn't trust.

Malia glimpsed over at Hayley, silently asking if she'd go with to the appointment. Hayley nodded in response, already planning on going with as she also didn't trust the witches. "Fine, I'll go as long as Hayley can come with" Agnes didn't argue against it, knowing it was better than having one of the Mikaelson's come with.

The girls had no idea what they were getting into.

The werewolf and werecoyote duo waited until nighttime before they had entered the bayou with Agnes, going to the clinic that was truly in the middle of nowhere. It was a lot more questionable than either had imagined. Malia and Hayley both easily senses the others apprehension. Malia was especially tense as she couldn't pick up any chemosigns off of Agnes, something that she noticed when first meeting the old witch.

"This is the doctors office? Does this doctor even have a medical degree? A practicing license?" Hayley hissed out, fighting against the instinct to grab her pack-mate and get the hell out of there. "Dr. Paige is only this far out because Marcel's men kept terrorizing her patients" Agnes explained, telling the truth as she noticed how highly strung the two were.

"Go! She won't bite!" Malia and Hayley walked side-by-side into the office, Hayley snickered quietly at Malia's low growl, wishing she could just go slash Agnes' throat open with her claws.

Agnes watched as the girls disappeared into the clinic, waiting until they were completely out of sight before she pulled her phone out, dialing a saved number that she was eager to call.

"Send them in now and tell them to do it quickly".

Dr. Paige seemed quite nervous around both of them. Malia assumed it was either due to the circumstances of having the baby mama of an original hybrid in her office, or that something bad was going to happen and the doctor knew about it. Either way, Hayley and Malia stayed on guard.

The doctor was currently giving Malia an ultrasound, displaying on the screen that she was indeed pregnant with twins. The two former McCall pack members could now hear both heartbeats as long as there wasn't much noise around, the second babies heartbeat was much more developed now. "Both of your babies heart rates are perfect" The mother-to-be beamed with pride over the doctors words, allowing herself to imagine for a moment that this was a normal pregnancy with normal circumstances and not that she was pregnant with two magical miracle babies that were a result of a one-night-stand and magical loophole.

"I knew it, they're tough just like you Mal" Hayley teased, causing Dr. Paige to chuckle before handing the pregnant woman a few tissues to wipe the gel off of her abdomen. Malia did so before Hayley helped her sit up.

Malia's back had been exposed, a birthmark sat right on her shoulder blade, a birthmark that all witches knew of as there was a legacy within it. Malia knew about the birthmark, her adoptive parents had brought her to the doctor as a child in worry that it was something dangerous considering it was in a shape that no birthmarks ever looked like. However, the doctor reassured them that it was quite normal so Malia never looked into it.

*Yes, I know it's the mark of Cain in supernatural. But in this story, it will symbolize something else. Something that will be brought up much, much later*

The doctor wanted to bring it up so badly, wanted to warn both Malia and Hayley about what the witches were going to make her do. But she had heard all about Sabine's prophecy about how the babies would bring the deaths of all witches and while she wasn't a witch, a majority of her family was. She didn't want to risk it.

Malia's phone dinged, the girl took it out right after she fixed her shirt so that her birthmark wasn't shown. Seeing that it was a text from Rebekah who was worried about where the girl had gone (thinking she would've been back by now), she typed out a quick response in return.

Dr. Paige twitched nervously before saying, "Your blood pressure is a bit high, I've got something for it". She exited the room for a moment, leaving the two woman behind who grew more skeptical every second.

The sound of a wolf howling in the distance startled both the werewolf and werecoyote, the tone of the howl seeming to be urgent, almost like it was a warning to them, the memory of the wolf protecting her flashed quickly in Malia's mind. Hayley shuffled over to the window, peering out in the dark night only to see headlights of multiple vehicles pulling up to the clinic. Hayley ushered her pack mate over to show her what was happening, earning another low growl in response.

Once they heard the sound of footsteps nearing the room, both girls moved back into their original positions in order to try and look oblivious.

She entered the room with a pill bottle in her hands. "Actually, Mal's not very good with pills" It took a second for Malia to register Hayley's lie (including a hidden nudge to her). "Oh, uh, yeah. People get addicted to pills and I don't wanna get addicted" Hayley mentally facepalmed. "Heh, neither am I, truth be told" Dr. Paige's heart rate sped up as she grew more nervous by the second. She turned to prepare something after handing Malia the pills. They could barely see it, but it seemed to be a syringe.

The two girls made eye contact, silently communicating that it was time to fight. The doctor swiftly spun around to stab Malia with the syringe that smelt a bit like wolfsbane, only for Malia to easily counter the blow and steal it, stabbing her with it in the neck instead.

The two girls shared a knowing look before nodding. The doctor swiftly turned around to stab Malia with the syringe that smelled like wolfsbane, only for Malia to easily take it from her grasps and stab her in the neck instead. Hayley was getting the window open as Malia did so. The two quickly snuck out before running off.

Neither of the girls wasted any time, running as fast as they could away from the clinic. They were already in the deep wooded bayou area when they were stopped by a few warlocks who went to attack them with their magic. Before they could even get the full spell out, Malia and Hayley snapped their necks with zero hesitation and no guilt flooding through them.

Another warlock tried to sneak up on the preoccupied duo but had his neck snapped by Rebekah Mikaelson. The two turned around to see the blonde standing there with a smirk, also not phased by the killing. Although, her chemo-signs contradicted this smirk as she was flooded with worry.

"I have to say, I'm impressed" Rebekah complimented as she eyed the dead bodies. "How did you find us?" Hayley inquired as she caught her breath.

"Malia's text got me halfway, vamping did the rest" She explained. "Who are they?" Rebekah gestures to the men who had attacked them. "Male witches, warlocks, something like that" In the distance, Rebekah noticed with her heighten sight a bunch of flashlights of the warlocks arriving.

"There're more of them. Run!" But before they could do anything, Rebekah was shot by an arrow. It wouldn't have hurt her if the arrowhead wasn't laced with vervain. The plant didn't hurt an original as bad as normal vampires, but it still impacted her. Malia froze, not knowing what to do.

Stiles, her ex-boyfriend and former anchor, had always told her that, "rules of the animal kingdom don't apply to friends". She didn't want to leave Rebekah behind, even if the blonde was over a thousand years old and could easily take care of herself. "I got her, Mal. Go!"

She couldn't leave Rebekah behind, even if the girl could take care of herself. "I got her, Mal. Go!" Hayley shouted. Knowing the two had each other, the werecoyote didn't hesitate to phase into her coyote form, ripping her clothes off her body, before running off.

A while later, Hayley and Rebekah ended up making there way back to the clinic after calling Klaus, only to find all the other attacker's and accomplices dead. Each and every one had been killed by something that hadn't been either of the three.

"Wow! You abandoned your quest for power to help out your family! Having an off day?" Rebekah hissed sarcastically when Klaus finally showed up. "Who took her, Rebekah?" He looked at the other girl. "Hayley?" Klaus tried to keep himself composed.

"I don't know" These words caused him to lose him composure, setting him off. "What do you mean you 'don't know'. And who killed her attackers?" Before either woman could respond, the three her multiple howls echo through the night, coming from the werewolves of the bayou.

"Lovely, maybe Hayley's cousins will know where she is" The three made their way behind the clinic, about to start searching together in the bayou. However, Hayley caught Malia's fresh scent advancing closer. The werewolf put her hand out to stop the two Mikaelson's from wasting their time searching through the bayou.

"I caught her scent, she's coming closer" Hayley was glad that she had grabbed a pair of spare clothes from the clinic. They watched as a coyote, obviously Malia, slowly emerged from the wooded area. You most likely wouldn't have realized she wasn't a normal coyote if she didn't glow her inhuman vibrant blue eyes at the three.

The coyote transformed back into Malia, the pregnant woman, who was now on the ground and completely naked yet not ashamed. Rebekah and Klaus were stunned and unsure of what to do considering it wasn't something that had actually seen Malia do before.

Hayley rolled her eyes at their hesitation before jogging over to Malia's side and handing her the clothes from the clinic. She ended up having to help Malia a bit with getting dressed since the girl was exhausted.

Klaus and Rebekah made their way over as soon as Malia was dressed, Klaus practically pushed past Hayley to check for injuries on his unborn children's mother. If it weren't for the tense situation, Rebekah would've probably teased her older brother for how genuinely worried he seemed about the coyote.

"How did you escape? You were outnumbered, unarmed? Those men were ripped to shreds!" Rebekah exclaimed, not bothering to hide her worry over her new friend that was also carrying her baby niece and nephew.

"The wolves, their alpha kept me safe while the rest went after the warlocks" Malia furrowed her eyebrows at the memory. The alpha was the wolf that had been watching over her at the pool the night that the Mikaelson's went to the ball. He kept her safe and secure while the other wolves tore apart the witches. She didn't undertand why considering she wasn't apart of their pack or related to any of them like Hayley. Maybe it was because she was best friends and pack mates with Hayley. Or maybe, like Sabine had told her the night previously, it was because of the twins and how they were miracle babies.

"The witches were supposed to protect you!" Klaus seethed in fury. "When I get my hands on Sophie Deveraux—" Hayley cut Klaus off. "It wasn't Sophie, it was Agnes" Klaus scoffed, "Fine! Agnes, Sophie, it's all the same to me! I'll slaughter the lot of them!" He declared maliciously. The witches against Sophie's plan not only went back on their deal, but they hurt someone he claimed as someone he protects. "Not if Elijah gets to them first" Rebekah's words caught Malia's attention, the girl looking over at her friend with a soft look.

"Elijah, you talked to him? Is he okay?" Klaus frowned, not attempting to hide the jealousy very well. Luckily, only Hayley noticed it. "He's been in touch, and he has a plan. All he asks is that we take care of you. He also said that he's sorry about breaking his promise" The Original explained.  The corners of Malia's lips curved upwards for a brief moment before they fell in weary.

"Can we go home now? I need a nap and some deer to—" Malia stopped when she ultimately passed out from exhaustion. Klaus caught her as she slumped down, scooping her up in his arms with ease.

"Ooh, I've got you, love. I've got you" As Klaus made his way towards the car, Hayley and Rebekah shared a brief knowing look before following behind him.
