彡 CHAPTER SEVEN
❛ what is grief if not love persevering? ❜
( episode eight, season one )

"They do look shocked to meet the real us, don't they?" Agatha chuckled as she looked at her bunny. She laughed again when Wanda's eyes turned a bright red. "That's adorable. My thought are not available to you, toots. They never, ever were. So don't go givin' yourself a migraine. We've got work to do."

"Let Ellie go." Wanda demanded. "And where are my children?"

"Where are my children? Let Ellie go." Agatha mocked Wanda's accent as she walked around and stood next to the purple bubble Ellie was in. "That accent really comes and goes, doesn't it?"

"Let them go." Reggie said with narrowed eyes.

Wanda held her hands up as she tried to use her powers, only for them not to work.

"Oh, your magic's no good here." Agatha crossed her arms as she used her powers, binding Wanda's and Reggie's arms and legs. She brought them to the center of the room and let them levitate in the air. "Didn't you notice? Basic protection spell, one on each wall? No? Nothing?"

Wanda and Reggie looked around at the weird symbols etched on every wall.

"These are runes." Agatha continued. "In a given space, only the witch that cast the runes can use her magic. How do you not know the fundamentals?"

"Who the hell even are you?" Reggie asked, a small groan leaving his lips when he tried to move.

"Who are you two?" Agatha fired back. "All those costumes and hairstyles. I was so patient, waiting for Wanda to reveal her true self." Agath scoffed. "I got close with fake Pietro. Fietro, if you will, but no dice."

"That was you." Wanda realized as Reggie struggled more.

"No, it wasn't literally me." Agatha rolled her eyes. "Just my eyes and ears. A crystalline possession. Necromancy was a non-starter since your real brother's body is on another continent. Not to mention, full of holes."

"Hey!" Reggie yelled as he struggled more while Wanda stiffened.

Agatha didn't spare him a glance as she continued. "But you're so crippled by your own self-doubt that you believed it. Both of you did!" Agatha looked at the Maximoff siblings. "When I sensed this place, the afterglow of so many spells cast all at once... oh, I couldn't make heads or tails of it."

Agatha got an insect from one of the walls as she chanted something in latin over it, her hands glowing purple. "A classic." she said as a glowing purple rope appeared from her hand to the insect. "Quick incantation and a feeble psyche and you're good to go." The insect flew from Agatha's hand as it landed on Wanda's face. "With thousands of people under your thumb, all interacting with eachother according to complex storylines. Well, that's something special, baby."

Agatha got the insect off of Wanda's face as she turned to look at Reggie. "And you're not so bad either, sneaking in at the exact same time as little miss Geraldine. I almost missed you, but you need to be more careful next time."

She looked at Wanda again. "Now, even the smallest illusions take years to master. But you're even running illusions miles away at the edge of town. Magic on autopilot. What's your secret, sister?"

After Wanda simply watched her in silence, Agatha sighed. "Listen, I need you... Hey, Wanda, I need you to tell me how you did this."

Wanda shook her head. "I didn't do anything. I'm not..."

Agatha slammed Wanda into a wall, ignoring Reggie's yells of protest. "I tried to be gentle, to nudge you awake from this ridiculous fantasy but you would rather fall apart than face your truth. You left me no choice." Agatha narrowed her eyes. "What was it you said to your not-brother? All you could recall was the feeling. You felt empty. Alone. Endless nothingness. Let's start there."

Agatha turned her head towards the side and Wanda and Reggie followed her eyes only to see a stone door, purple mist coming through it. Soon, the stone turned into a white wood door.

"Ellie's coming with us." Wanda demanded.

Agatha looked at Ellie. "Well, she's part of the plan, hun. Of course she's coming." With the help of her powers, the purple bubble around Ellie disappeared and she fell.

Ellie gasped as her eyes flew open, a golden color instead of their normal brown color. "You psycho bitch." Ellie groaned as she rolled on her back, panting.

"I gave her, her memories back." Agatha winked at the Maximoff siblings.

Ellie got to her feet, stumbling, as she looked at Wanda and Reggie and then her eyes narrowed on Agatha. "God, what the actual fuck. I don't need this shit right now."

"We're going on a trip, little Ellie." Agatha grinned as she used her powers to bring Ellie forward, despite her struggling. She then let Wanda and Reggie fall down and Ellie quickly crouched down next to Wanda.

"I'm sorry, Red." she whispered.

Wanda held back a sob. It's been so long since Ellie called her that, she missed her so much.

"Chop chop!" Agatha clapped her hands. Ellie glared at her as she helped Wanda to her feet, before sparing Reggie a small glance. He knew that she remembered everything now and she probably hated him.

They walked through the door and on the other side was Wanda's old home from Sokovia. Wanda clutched Ellie's hand tighter as they watched Wanda's parents and then little Wanda along with Pietro and Reggie.

They all sat down as a family and watched TV, but then out of nowhere, there was an explosion. Ellie watched as a younger Reggie pulled Wanda and Pietro under a bed as they watched the Stark bomb just tick. It didn't blow, and they stayed under that bed for two days.

"Did you stop that bomb?" Agatha asked as the memory was over. "You used a probability hex."

"No I..." Wanda stammered.

"It never went off." Reggie said firmly. "It was defective. We didn't know that."

"We... we were trapped." Wanda muttered as Ellie put a hand around her shoulder.

"For how long?" Agatha demanded.

"Two days."

"So much trauma..." Agatha said as she walked around the destroyed house. "And yet you were safe as kittens the whole time. So what I see here is a baby witch obsessed with sitcoms and years of therapy ahead of her. Doesn't explain your recent hijinks. Where'd you get the big guns, Wanda?"

Reggie's jaw clenched as Ellie held Wanda's hand tighter.

Another mechanical door appeared and the trio looked towards it. A HYDRA symbol was engraved on the door and Reggie stiffened while Wanda's lip trembled. "I don't wanna go back there."

Agatha pouted. "I know you don't but it's good medicine, angel. The only way forward is back."

The door unlocked on it's own and with slow steps, Wanda walked forward, basically leaning on Ellie. Reggie walked behind the two girls and he made sure to glare at a smiling Agatha.

The room they entered was big and there was a glass wall. On one side stood two scientists and on the other one came in Wanda.

Ellie bit her lip as she watched one of the scientists instruct Wanda to touch the teseract. It rattled even before she could touch it and the gem came closer to Wanda. She put a hand forward as she touched it only for it to glow a bright yellow. Seconds later, Wanda passed out.

Then they appeared in Wanda's cell where she was watching sitcoms while a camera recorded her every move.

"So..." Agatha started. "Little orphan Wanda got up close and personal with an Infinity Stone that amplified what otherwise would've died on the vine. The broken pieces of you are adding up, buttercup. I have a theory but I need more."

Another door appeared and on the other side stood Wanda in her room in the Avenger's Compound. She was sitting on her bed while playing with her fingers when Vision floated through the wall.

"I apologize, I don't mean to intrude." Vision stated as he looked at Wanda.

"You don't?" she retorted.

Vision shook his head. "Well, I suppose, yes, I did intend to come here."

"And now?"

"And...Well, whatever is your preference." Vision stammered.

Wanda patted the spot next to her on the bed and Vision smiled faintly as he sat down beside her.

"Wanda, I don't presume to know what you're feeling, but I would like to know." Vision looked at Wanda. "Should you wish to tell me. Should that be of some comfort to you."

"What makes you think that talking about it would bring me comfort?" Wanda questioned as she looked at him.

"Oh, see, I read that..."

"The only thing that would bring me comfort is seeing him again." she interrupted Vision. When he went quiet, she continued. "Sorry. I'm so tired. It's just like this wave washing over me, again and again. It knocks me down when I try to stand up, it just comes for me again. And I... It's just gonna drown me."

"No." Vision disagreed. "No, it won't."

"Yeah." Wanda chuckled. "How do you know?"

"Well, because it can't all be sorrow, can it?" he said with a sigh. "I've always been alone, so I don't feel the lack. It's all I've ever known. I've never experienced loss because I have never had a loved one to lose."

"But what is grief, if not love persevering?"

"So to recap," Agatha sighed. "Parents dead, brother dead, other brother missing, Vision dead. What happened when he wasn't there to pull you back from the darkness, Wanda?"

Wanda cried quietly as Ellie hugged her to her side, her own eyes filled with tears. Reggie looked as white as milk as he looked at the spot his sister was sitting on in the memory.

"I can't do this anymore." Wanda shook her head.

"Come on, Wanda." Agatha encouraged her. "You're on the precipice. You are right there! Tell me how you did it." Agatha smiled slightly. "Oh, but then there was Ellie."

Ellie's head shot up as she looked at Agatha, wondering where she was going with it.

"I always wondered what happened to Ellie, how she got her powers. Now I would've never guessed this. But let's start from the beginning, shall we?"

They walked through a broken door and Ellie's breath left her lungs. They were back at the battle, the last one. The one where her father died.

And there he was, infinity stones on his suit as he snapped his fingers. And in the last second, Ellie's scream was heard as she ran towards him before being thrown back by the power of the stones.

Ellie staggered on her feet as she watched her dad die again, as she watched Pepper say goodbye, as she watched herself say goodbye, as she watched Peter say goodbye. And then seconds after he died, Bucky caught her before she could collapse on the ground, blood coming out of her nose and mouth.

"Now that," Agatha chuckled. "That was interesting. We have a couple other things to see but Ellie's power definitely had me intrigued."

Each memory was more painful then the other and Wanda almost broke down crying when she saw Vision's dead body again at the SWORD headquarters.

And then they watched as Wanda picked Ellie up with her car as they drove to Westview in silence. The town they drove to was small but Wanda drove to an exact place, where the foundation for a house stood.

Wanda got out and a pale Ellie followed after her. With Wanda's help, Ellie followed her as they stood in the middle of where the living room would have been.

Wanda brought out a paper from her pocket and as she opened it up, the house plans could be seen and a little note from Vision that was encased in a red heart.

'To grow old in. -V'

With a sob, Wanda sunk to the ground as Ellie hugged her the best she could in her sick state. And before Ellie could even say a word, Wanda screamed as blood red mist left her and constructed the house around her before it did the same to the whole town.

Ellie seemed more alive as some of Wanda's own powers entered her. Another part of Wanda's powers formed a whole new Vision that looked at the two girls as if they were the sun.

"Welcome home Wanda, Ellie."

Their clothes were changed to some outfits from the 50s as Ellie hugged Vision while Wanda walked forward and gave him a kiss. Together, the small family sat down on the couch as they started talking to one another.

Agatha's clapping was heard as everything went back to normal. Wanda and Ellie were holding eachother, tears streaming down their faces as Reggie leaned on a wall.

The room was back to normal as several cameras surrounded it and in the audience sat Agatha with a smile. "Bravo!" she chuckled. "Now, I know Reggie still doesn't get Ellie's powers and this is where I come in. You all saw that battle with big bad Thanos and how daddy dearest died? When Ellie tried to save him, that power entered her but her body rejected it, making her ill. Little Ellie was dying, slowly but surely. And then Wanda released her power with Ellie next to her, and so a part of her power entered our little Ellie and cured her. And now poof, it's a part of her."Agnes chuckled at Reggie's dumbfounded expression. "Oh, I also loved the orphanage part considering that Stark adopted little Ellie when she was just two. Very nice touch."

They stood there for a moment before with a snap of her fingers, Agatha disappeared as Billy and Tommy's shouts for help were heard. The two Maximoff's along with Ellie ran to the nearest door that surprisingly got them to the outside world.

The three stopped in their tracks when they saw Agatha dressed up in a black puffy dress floating while she held Tommy and Billy on purple leashes.

"Mom! Ellie! Uncle Reggie!"

"I know what you are." Agatha smiled as she tightened the leashes.

"It's okay baby, it's okay." Wanda panted as red mist appeared in her hands.

Ellie's eyes glowed yellow as the same mist appeared in her hands.

Reggie's power were just regeneration so he didn't know what to do exactly.

"You have no idea how dangerous you are." Agatha continued. "You're supposed to be a myth. A being capable of spontaneous creation, and here you are, using it to make breakfast for dinner."

"Let go of my children." Wanda seethed.

"Ah yes, your children." Agatha clicked her tongue. "And Vision, and this whole life you've made, this is Chaos Magic, Wanda."

"And that makes you the Scarlet Witch."
