Chapter 24

The Room of Requirement.

It was undoubtedly the most cliché place that Evelyn and I could go, but it was safe.

We sat on a sofa, legs tangled together as her head rested against my chest. This was the first time we'd done this, so we spoke about everything; everyone, whatever we deemed interesting.

"Draco?"

"Yeah?"

"Will you ever leave me again?" Evelyn asked in a small voice, "For example, if You-Know-Who ever recruits you."

"I don't know, Evelyn. But if I do leave, then I'll be coming back," I told her.

"Really?"

"Endlessly," I almost whispered.

My heart raced as her eyes trailed up to me, craning her head around so she could face me. She placed a soft kiss on my lips and I was taken to another world.

As she pulled away, I sighed and told her it was time for us to go to Herbology.

"You're right," she smiled, "Walk together?"

"Yeah," I agreed.

She made sure the coast was clear before waving her hand at me to leave with her.

Herbology went by slower than I thought it would. Before I knew it, I was headed back to the common room. I didn't wait for Evelyn this time, she told me in Potions she'd be busy studying.

"Draco," Pansy snapped at me coldly as I attempted to head back to my dorm.

"What?" I growled back.

"Why did you say all of that about Ebony? I thought you fancied her!"

"Her? Oh, god no. Just leave it, Pansy. It's nothing to do with you," I told her.

Pansy's expression fell and she was overcome by anger, "What is it with you and hurting girls? I loved you for so many years and you threw me away every time you got what you wanted! Then it was Evelyn! She put up a brave face, Draco, but she was besotted with you! Now Ebony, she likes y-"

"She likes Draco?"

I turned to see Blaise with a pained expression. So that's why he was trying to help Evelyn. She'd told me all about that, but never why.

"Well, I assume so-"

"So you don't know for sure?" He hissed, "Don't you think it's a little rash, and rather rude of you to be assuming, Pansy?"

Well, shit. I'd never really seen Blaise that pissed, not even when Evelyn kissed him for the sake of it.

"Look, I don't know why you're so affected by this. I'm Ebony's friend, and I'm a pro at seeing feelings," Pansy said with a sneaky smile.

"But you cannot tell my true feelings, Pansy," I said angrily, "I should think a pug-faced girl like you should keep out of it."

"P-pug-..." Pansy ran off, tears in her eyes.

"I guess that was needed," Blaise commented before walking off to his dorm.

I sighed and walked in the same direction.
