Alec has been busy running the institute for weeks with Johnathan is on the lose, everyone is at their feet trying to find him. Jace and Clary been up searching for him every corner of the world they could find. Luke lost his pack but trying to train Maia in becoming the next alpha. Izzy and Simon on the other hand, well, nothing makes them happier than being with each other but somehow annoys Alec in every way they could.

Alec forgotten his duty and responsibilities he had towards Magnus since the institute is at risk of a threat. They received few informer mentioning how Johnathan is on the move on opening the doors to hell. The Morning star sword, one of the Morgenstern heirloom has been stolen and Alec feared it was none other than Johnathan himself. Due to the threat they received Alec has been none other but a pressure to all of them. Jace feared for his being as he was pushing himself too far in finding Johnathan. He blamed himself as he got him under his care but failed when he break lose and escaped. Alec was distracted by Johnathan wickedness and although everyone said it wasn't his fault, he was trained better not to fall for demon's trick and he did.

Magnus tries his best to persuade Alec to be more calm and trust in all the shadowhunters in finding him but to Alec he is nothing but calm, he was raging with regret, guilt and depressed. He feared that if all hell break lose, all nephilim, demon or mundane blood will meet their death. So he worked day and night not bothering the fact its draining him to his bones.

Alec was currently at his office searching through the portal activity in the whole world in a different view. Few papers here and there for him to read and search. If anything he would had noticed but nothing appears under the radar which upsets him the most. He only come out from the office only to shower and changed, then he went straight back in. Jace feared his parabatai would have lost it but he tried his best to drag him out from the office.

He was so focused looking at the monitors not realizing the love of his life stood by the door eyeing his frustration. He clicked the monitor furiously but it won't budge so he slammed the screen and pushed everything on the floor. "Worthless!" He screamed. Magnus had to admit he was quite frightened at the behavior of Alec especially when he's under stressed. Alec was panting, puffing his chest in and out while he sat on the chair with his head in his hand. He dug his fingernails in his hair grasping his hair tight so it would stretched his scalp. It felt good when he did so, especially with the throbbing headache he had. "Alexander?"

Magnus walked closer to his messy office and eyed all the things on the ground. He saw the screen cracked due to thrown off but decide to let it be for the moment. He kneeled beside Alec and cupped his palm on Alec's cheek. Alec raised his head and looked at his other half. Magnus was surprised to see Alec in such condition, his hair is a mess, his face is pallor than usual, his eyes are red with tears and due to lack off sleep, his eyes sunken and dark circles forming underneath. "I'm a failure, aren't I?" He whispered looking straight into Magnus eyes.

"No sweetheart, you're not. You did your very best and everyone is proud of you. Believe me. But you have to stop torturing yourself like this and rest for a bit." Magnus tried to assure him as he normally did. When he lost his magic, Alec was nothing but a darling trying to make him see the world in a different way, the mundane way. So he tried his best to help Alec at his very weakest moment. "You're lying!" Alec said pushing Magnus away from him as he stood and paced around his room. "Where is he?!" He screamed and grabbed one of the chair throwing it to the wall and see it crashed too pieces.

"Alec breathe. You won't get anything done if you keep pressing your mind to work like this." Magnus grabbed his head into his hand as he made him stopped pace around and looked into his eyes. "Breathe babe, relax, breathe." Alec took a long deep breath, tilting his head up as he exhaled. He then rested his forehead on Magnus' as he repeatedly doing his breathing exercise. "That's it." Magnus face was dangerously close to Alec's and their lips are barely an inch away. He begged to be kissed by Alec which he longed for days but Alec snapped out from his moment and looked away. He then grabbed Magnus wrist pulling it off from his neck, "I need to get back to work." He then pulled away from Magnus grip, raising his sleeves exposing his rune on his upper arm, he waved his stele on his stamina rune before he walked away from Magnus, leaving him by himself standing in the middle of the mess. Alec walked towards his messy desk and flipped through all the papers again. "I'll be waiting for you at home, like always." Magnus said but Alec didn't even respond, just a minor hummed which Magnus failed to see whether Alec heard him or not. He sighed as he left the office with Alec in the middle of them mess. Alec continued his muttering flipping pages and scrolls through his iPad looking for any sort of demonic activity he could find related to Johnathan.

Magnus waited for Alec that night like usual but he didn't come home and as usual he might have slept in the institute or maybe he didn't sleep after all, who knows what he did in the room. If only Magnus had his magic to lock Alec in his loft but his magic is no longer known to him. He sighed decided he will go to the institute for the day filling the void in his heart. As he walked in the institute, he was pulled by none other than Isabelle himself. He was walking the hallway heading to Alec's office when Isabelle caught him and dragged him towards one of the room in the institute.

"What the hell Izzy?" He said as Izzy released her death grip on the Magnus' arm. When Magnus looked around, the room was a training room and not just Izzy was there, Jace, Clary, Simon and Luke was there either. They were all gathered by the table that they used to clean their instruments. "We need to talk about Alec." Jace said as Magnus approached them in his usual strut and confusion look. "Talk." He said and Jace sighed. "Alec is getting out of hand, he didn't sleep, he didn't eat, he never came out from the room other than taking a piss or a shower. The only thing he ate was that ghastly protein bar and keep using his stamina rune." Izzy started as they all looked at her.

"Magnus its bad, I went to him for a scouting last few days thinking we might found a clue and he just walked into a vampire nest not bothering to check out, he could have been killed but luckily one of them knew who he was and stopped the other vampire from devouring him." Luke added, they looked into each other as Magnus sighed pinching his bridge of his nose. "What you want me to do? I'm no longer a warlock, I can't use my magic on him plus if I did, Alec will never forgive me. He refused to listen to me even though I told him I waited for him every night at our loft." Magnus claimed and he saw how Izzy and Jace was concerned of their brother but honestly there is nothing he could do to change Alec's mind.

"Look whatever it is, we need to get Alec out from this case, Johnathan is a real deal but its a problem for another day. We can't have him weak and vulnerable when the real fight is coming. We need him as our leader and now he's punishing himself for what happened." Clary stated and they all nodded. "What if we blindfolded him and locked him in Magnus' apartment for few days? That way he would take some rest." Simon suggested and all of them turned to face him with a glare. "The second Alec got out, your head is on the chopping block." Izzy mentioned and Simon was threatened by the death threat as he gulped his throat.

They were about to brainstorm another idea when suddenly Jace grabbed Clary's shoulder. He gasped holding his chest. "Jace? What's wrong?" Jace looked at her and his face is frowned with pain, his breaths quickened, "A-Alec." He said as he fell to the ground unconscious. "Jace!" Clary and Isabelle screamed simultaneously but the more concerning part for Magnus was Alec. "You take care of Jace, Luke come with me." He ran off from the training room and headed to Alec's office knowing he might be there. When he opened the door, his heart broke as he saw Alec on the ground scattered with all the papers and files unconscious. "Alexander!"

Magnus went to Alec side cradling his head on his lap, Alec was pale and his breaths is barely felt. "Call Cat now Luke please!" Magnus commanded and he did, without any argument, he pulled out his phone to call her. Later he helped Magnus carried Alec to his room and placed him down on the bed. He still unconscious when they brought him in the room and Magnus kept checking his pulse, faint and slow but presence. Seconds later, Jace stormed in with Izzy and Clary by his side, he was weak but at least he's awake. "How is he?" He asked as he sat beside Alec weak body. "I don't know. What exactly happened?" Magnus asked. "I don't know I felt a sharp pain in my head and my chest then everything blacked out. I heard Alec called me but then everything went dark." Jace explained and the second he did, Cat appears from the portal in Alec's room. "What happened?" She asked as she went to Alec's side.

"We don't know, please Cat help us." Izzy begged as tears starts brimming on her eyes. Simon held her to his side as she cried seeing her brother like this. Cat waved her hand tracing her blue magic across Alec's body as she did so. Her face contorted in confusion. After a while, she did scanned all over Alec's body, she sighed and her face shown relief. She sat by his side, exhausted of using her magic healing Alec's body.

"He's gonna be okay. The iratze won't work on him for a while since he used it too much. But he's just exhausted and with rest, he sure would be fine. Unfortunately since the iratze won't work on him, I guess we have to do it mundane way." She said. Magnus turned his gaze towards Alec's as he stroke Alec's hair from his forehead. Alec always love how he rubs his hair back like that and he missed doing it to him. "Take him back to my apartment, I will look after him there." Magnus said and stood but he was stopped by Izzy, "No! We have medics here to take care of Alec." Magnus eyed her in his furious face, "NO! He need to be out from the institute and the seconds he's awake, he will dived in to his work. You can either stop me and never see your brother Isabelle or you can let me take care of him and see him anytime you want. Take your pick." He said and Izzy stepped back eyeing Alec on the bed, she nodded before Magnus and Luke helped carried Alec up and went into the portal made by Cat.
