Alec's POV
No, no. My mother just texted me and suggested we have a family dinner tonight.

"I'm guessing you got the message from mom?" Izzy asked.

"Yep, it's a bad idea," I sighed.

"What can go wrong at a family dinner?"

"Everything"

"It's a family dinner, Alec! It's innocent"

"Apparently, you haven't been apart of a family dinner or haven't been paying attention"

Isabelle huffed and stormed out of my office. "I need Magnus," I mumbled before getting back to work.

A few hours later..

Alec's POV
"This is a dangerous situation! We can't just risk more of our people, it's like a suicide mission!" Victor yelled.

"If we only send one or two people, we could get attacked in the Institute!" I argued.

"I say, we don't even go!" 

"Look, we're already risking everyone, we have to do this!"

As Victor and I argued, more and more people tended to join in on either Victor's or my side.

"Are you seriously fighting right now?" A familiar voice yelled, making Victor turn around angry and making me smile.

"Magnus Bane, what are you doing here?" Victor growled.

"I came to report the current progress of the demon we're all trying to find out"

"Alec, it's about time," Isabelle yelled. I sighed.

"Meeting dismissed until further notice," I ordered.

"This isn't over, Lightwood!" Victor threatened, making me roll my eyes.

"If you have a problem with me being in charge, I suggest complaining to the Clave. But don't come back crying to me when your little plan fails"

"Careful, I can get you in one little flick of my finger and you'll be on the ground"

"You won't even be able to touch me while my boyfriend is here"

Victor was about to argue until he landed on the ground hard.

"That was for threatening my boyfriend," Magnus growled. Before he could make more of a scene, I took his hand and dragged him to my room.

"Was that really necessary?" I asked with a little grin on my face.

"Alexander, if anyone threatens you, they'll be sorry," Magnus smiled as he wrapped his arms around my waist.

"Magnus, I need to get changed for my family dinner"

"You have a family dinner? Good luck"

"That's why you're coming with me." Magnus froze.

"I don't want to be intruding," Magnus sighed.

"Why would you even think you would be intruding?" I asked, worried.

"I'm not family, Alexander. Besides, I would like to avoid all of the drama that comes with it"

I sighed before kissing him passionately. "Magnus, you are my family, how many times do I have to tell you?" He sighed.

"Alexander, you know this is new for me. You're the only relationship I've ever been in that has considered me as apart of their family"

"My mother loves you." I kissed him on the forehead. "You have nothing to worry about"

Magnus stared at my eyes for quite some time. "Alright, alright. You convinced me, love," he spoke before kissing my hand.

Alec's POV
"Mom, what's this dinner all about?" I asked. Izzy was sitting next to mom with her boyfriend, Adam, on the other side while Magnus and I sat across from my family. Of course, my boyfriend was sitting real close to me, but I wasn't complaining.

"Nothing serious. Maybe I just wanted to go out with my family," Maryse suggested.

"You never want to go out with your family unless you need something." Magnus took my hand in comfort, making me calm down a little. "I'm sorry, I just wasn't expecting this"

"No, I'm sorry. I should've been there for my children more"

"Mom, you have nothing to apologize for," Izzy smiled.

"Thank you Izzy, but I do," Maryse admitted. "There is something I need to talk about that could be triggering or upsetting to each of you"

"Mom, what's wrong?" I asked. Magnus looked worried and buried (just to let you know, autocorrect changed 'buried' to 'burned' 😂) his head in my neck.

"Magnus, you have nothing to worry about. This isn't about you"

Magnus mumbled something incoherent (is that the right word? I can't English today for some reason 😂).

"What was that?"

"Nothing, don't worry about it," Magnus admitted.

"I'm afraid I'll be getting my runes stripped and will no longer be able to contact with you," Maryse sighed. Izzy and I gasped.

"No, you're lying," I shouted.

"It's true"

"They can't do that! I won't let them!" And with that, I stormed out of the restaurant.

Magnus's POV

"I can't believe this is actually happening," Izzy cried. Maryse sighed and smiled sadly at me.

"Talk to him, Magnus. Tell him I'm sorry I wasn't a good enough mother. Tell him that I'm happy that he found the love of his life and should never give that up. Thank you for loving my boy," Maryse spoke. I gave her a small smile.

"Of course. And thank you for allowing me to be able to love your son," I spoke softly before giving her a hug and portaled myself to the loft.

Alec was sitting on the couch with his head in his knees.

"Alexander, my love," I whispered in his ear before kissing his forehead. Alec smiled softly. "It's going to be okay"

"No, it's not. They can't do that! I need to have contact with my mother!" Alec cried. I sighed and pulled him into my arms while my hands rubbed his back.

"Shh, we'll find a way. You know this"

"And if we don't?"

"Alexander-"

"You can't promise that everything will be fine, Magnus! I just..."

Alec let out a sob. For a couple minutes, Alec slowly calmed down. "She's my mother, I need her," Alec sighed.

"She wanted me to tell you she's sorry for not being a good mother," I spoke.

"What? She was a good mother"

"Alexander, she also wanted me to tell you that she's happy for us"

Alec stared up at me. "She said that?" Alec gasped.

"Why wouldn't she? You found the love of your life, as I did the same, and she never wants you to give that up. Aku Cinta Kamu, Alexander. I love you, you stupid Nephilim"

Alec smiled and kissed me heatedly.

Let's just say they had the best night of their life. (😏😉)
