Alec's POV
As I walked along the pathway, I could hear the screams of a battle not very far. I shook my head before taking a rest on the bench nearby. This war was pointless as it seemed there was no winning side. "Alexander, darling?" A familiar voice spoke, making me smile. "I thought you were out tonight," I replied before giving Magnus a kiss.

"Oh, shut up. To be honest, I just wanted to be with you, my Alexander"
"On a night of a battle?"
"The world could be ending and I wouldn't care as long as I'm with you. Before meeting you, I was in a bad place and you are honestly the best person I ever had in all of my immortal life. I don't regret meeting you and I won't, even when you're gone"
"Magnus, I love you so much"
"I love you too"

Magnus smiled down at me before I pulled him down, making him sit on my lap. If I hadn't met Magnus, my life would be a disaster. I sighed as I wrapped my arms around his waist, holding him tightly as if there was no tomorrow. "Let's go home, love," Magnus spoke. "Can't we just stay here on this beautiful night?" I asked, making Magnus chuckle.
"You're the one who said there was a battle going on tonight"
"Fine, we can go home"
Letting go of Magnus to get him up, my parabatai rune started becoming numb. Magnus looked at me in concern. "Alexander, what is it?" Magnus asked. "Jace, he's dying," I cried out before trying to get up but tripped on my own feet and broke my ankle. "Alexander, be careful!" Magnus shouted, trying to hold in laughter. I glared at him. "You know how clumsy I am. Now carry me to the loft," I demanded.
"Wow, no asking politely"
"Please carry me, my angel"
Magnus smirked before picking me up in his arms carefully and slowly carried me to the apartment. I smiled up at him as I wrapped my arms around his neck and silently cried. I may have lost Jace that day, but I had Magnus and always would.
