its my annoying face again! this is kind of short,, love you all!
"Come on, Alexander!" Magnus called.
"I don't want to play basketball, I do archery, remember?" Alec whined.
"Well, that's too bad, Alexander." Magnus said, sticking his tongue out.
Magnus and Alec had been dating for a couple years now. Everyday, they had found a new reason to fall in love with each other more. Every moment they spent together felt eternal, their smiles had grown larger and their kisses became more magical every time they kissed. Who would have thought? A Shadowhunter and a Warlock. No rules said they could not be together, it was just never done.
Alec knew that Magnus was the one the second Magnus walked into his wedding. Nephilim love once, fiercely. Alec knew that statement was a fact. Shadowhunters do a lot of things wrong. They never love wrong. Alec knew he would never want to kiss anyone else, smile for anyone else, or love anyone else. Magnus was his and he was Magnus' for as long as Magnus wanted him.
Magnus had not the best history with love. Love was something Magnus craved, yearned. He loved being in love. Except, it was not at all great when whom you were in love with, so madly and so deeply, did not return your feelings. That was often the case. Magnus loved with every fibre of his being when he loved. His feelings were so strong and so pure, that his lovers were often afraid. They did not cherish Magnus at all. Magnus was thrown to the side like a piece of scrap. Magnus had been with every species. Vampire, Warlock, Werewolf, Seelie and even Mundane. Alexander was his first Shadowhunter. The very first Nephilim he had given his heart to.
Magnus had always found Shadowhunters a nuisance. he enjoyed life in his Downworld bubble. Wherever Shadowhunters were present, nothing good ever happened. Well, except for Alexander Lightwood, that is.
The Shadowhunter was so focused on his mission, that he had a different 'first encounter' with Magnus. Magnus had first laid his eyes on the archer when he was on mission at Pandemonium. He was so focused on killing the demon, that when Magnus first saw him, he did not even realize he was there. He walked right by. But, when Magnus saw that smile, the first time they both introduced themselves, Magnus was in it deep. No one had ever made Magnus feel this way. After Camille, over a century ago, Magnus had built up walls. The second he laid eyes on the Nephilim, those walls faded and his heart almost burst out of his chest. Feeling something on the first encounter was something Magnus did not do, at all. He had to meet these beings often to ever develop any kind of attraction or feelings towards them. Alec was different.
Whereas, Magnus' other lovers had fled because of his deep feelings, Alec instead, without any effort returned those very same feelings. Alec just was so indulged by Magnus' presence, that around him, he did not see anything else.
Magnus and Alec had fought so hard for their love. With others and themselves. Alec was about to marry a girl, Lydia Branwell. Who was beautiful and sweet. She was a lovely girl. But, Alec was not in love with her. Alec fought with himself daily. He was conflicted with his feelings for Magnus. He knew they were there, and Magnus had returned those feelings, but, Alec had to bring honour to the family name.
Magnus knew he was whipped the second he laid eyes on the Shadowhunter. Magnus fought with Alec. He accepted his feelings and knew Alec returned them. Magnus had made his feelings blatantly obvious. He wanted to be with Alec. Ragnor told him to fight for love. He knew a love like this was worth fighting for. Alexander Lightwood was worth fighting for.
If Magnus had been even ten seconds later, their lives would have been on different paths. Alec would be married to Lydia, leaving all three of them heartbroken. Alec accepted his feelings and finally, took charge of his own life. He knew he wanted happiness. He knew where to find it. A life of misery and happiness, Alec was in between. The life of misery brought honour to his family name and was the easy route, the life of happiness was disgraceful and the hard route. Alec also, in that moment knew that his love was worth fighting for. He looked Magnus in the eyes at the wedding and made his decision.
After the kiss, there was more fighting. Fighting with Alec's parents, the Clave, every homophobic Shadowhunter. Alec was okay with it all because he had chosen and he knew in every life would have made the same decision. Every time Alec would choose Magnus. No matter what.
Magnus and Alec had very different ways of expressing their love or one another. Alec, was a vocal advocate for his feelings. Magnus, on the other hand showed his strong feelings with his actions.
Magnus and Alec were always envied by many. Magnus and Alec knew why. They were so in love, that they did not care at all. Jace and Izzy often made snarky comments about Magnus and him. They teased him about him as well. Alec didn't care because in the end, he was going to go home to Magnus and nothing else in the world would matter.
Today, Magnus had the wonderful idea of playing basketball. Alec was reluctant to play. Alec love sports, but he was always the more physical contact sports and archery kind of person. Magnus knew this. Exactly why he wanted to play basketball.
"Come on, darling, it'll be fun, I promise." Magnus said with puppy dog eyes. Those eyes widened and glimmered. Alec's weakness.
"Fine." Alec groaned, rolling his eyes. Manus smiled and clapped.
"Hold on, I have to get ready." Magnus said, running off.
One of the things Alec loved about Magnus was his need to look fabulous in every scenario. There was no way Magnus would ever go anywhere without glitter. Staple of his wardrobe.
Alec sighed and sat down. He wore a sweatshirt and a pair of shorts that reached to his knees. He was pretty sure they're basketball shorts. Alec had always worn boots for training, but for basketball, he needed actual basketball shoes. Which he was sure he had. Somewhere. Alec rummaged through his stuff. He and Magnus had been living together for a while. Alec's stuff was now all moved into the loft. Nothing was left at the Institute. Alec's existence was almost erased from there.
Finally, at the bottom of his stack boots, which looked exactly the same,Alec found a pair of high top running shoes.
"These'll have to do." Alec muttered under his breath. Alec slid his foot into each shoe and double knotted the laces.
"Ready to go?" Magnus asked, walking out of their bedroom. He was clearly ready to train. He wore a grey tank top and black trousers. His sweater was tied around his waist and he must have taken Alec's fingerless gloves. Alec smiled.
"You look great." Alec breathed.
"I know!" Magnus beamed and pecked Alec quickly on the cheek.
Magnus slid his hand into Alec's. Alec's hand suddenly felt warm. Magnus' hand always sent a sense of warmth through Alec's body, that he knew he would never get tired of.
"Do you even know any places to play basketball?" Alec asked.
"Darling, this is Brooklyn. They play basketball on every street." Magnus said.
"Right." Alec said, chuckling.
Magnus dragged Alec around to the gym.
"We'll play in a civilized location, okay?" Magnus said.
"I don't mind, as long as I'm with you." Alec said.
"Sweet, darling, but I'm going to kick your pretty butt?" Magnus said, walking to the basket to grab a basketball.
"You think I'm pretty?" Alec asked, looking touched.
"Of course, darling." Magnus said, dribbling the ball through his legs and flashing a mischievous grin to Alec.
"Let's play horse!" Magnus said, throwing the ball to Alec, who effortlessly grabbed it and started dribbling it, up and down.
"Horse?" Alec asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Basically, it's where someone 'breaks' and if they get their shot in, they get to try the shot again. If they miss, you pass the ball to the other person. Every time you get a shot in, you get a letter in the word HORSE and first one to spell HORSE wins." Magnus explained.
"Sounds easy enough." Alec said.
"You didn't actually think I was going to make this easy for you, did you?" Magnus asked.
"Of course." Alec smiled.
"Whoever wins gets to ask the other one to do a task and the loser is not allowed to veto the winner's request." Magnus said.
"Now, it's interesting." Alec smirked.
"You're going down, Lightwood." Magnus said.
"You mean like you go down on me, Bane?" Alec snapped back.
Magnus flinched. Okay, competitive Alec was really attractive. Magnus felt himself resisting the urge to grab him and kiss that damned smirk off his beautiful face. But, he had too much pride to ever.
"Who's breaking?" Alec asked.
"Well, considering you did not want to be here, it only seems fair that you break." Magnus said.
"Wonderful." Alec smiled. He took his stance. Alec was already ridiculously tall, so he had an advantage already.
Alec palmed the ball with his right hand and placed his left hand for support. Alec bent his knees and tippy toed his way up, as he released the ball, causing the ball to spin. The perfect shot. Alas, the ball bounced right off the rim and fell back into his arms.
"Ah, Alexander, you tried, darling." Magnus teased.
"Shut up." Alec growled.
"My turn." Magnus said. Magnus smirked and took the ball into his hands.
He threw the ball without any direction and using his magic, he placed the ball through the hoop.
Magnus smirked to Alec, who stood there with his jaw left open.
"Close your mouth, love, you'll attract flies." Magnus snapped.
"T-that's not f-fair! You cheated! You used m-magic!" Alec said, turning red.
"No rule saying I could not." Magnus smirked.
"Fine." Alec said, looking away and cursing under his breath.
"Darling, you better not be kissing me with that potty mouth." Magnus said.
"You won't be receiving any kisses for the next week." Alec exclaimed.
"You cannot resist me for long." Magnus said in a seductive tone. Getting no reaction from Alec, Magnus grabbed the ball and there it into the hoop using his magic, perfectly placing the ball through the mesh, making the WHOOSH sound.
"H-O-R-S" Magnus teased.
"I dare you to throw the ball in without using your magic. If you get it in, you win, if you don't I win." Alec countered.
"A challenge? I accept. The one that determines who wins. Do you really have such little faith in my abilities, darling?" Magnus said.
"Good luck." Alec said.
"I won't be needing it." Magnus said.
Magnus positioned his hands on the ball so he could get his middle finger off last, getting the perfect spin. He walked over to the free throw line and placed his legs shoulder width apart. He bent his knees and at a steady pace Magnus rose and lifted his heels off the ground, causing his toes to be the only part of his foot on the ground. Magnus released the ball, extending his arm as high as it could go, flicking his wrist. A release even more perfect than Alec's. Magnus planted his feet back on the ground.
The two stood there, watching the ball. The ball felt as if were going in slow motion. Emphasizing every spin. Alec's jaw was left wide open as the ball landed right on the rim. The ball rolled around. The two men followed the ball with their eyes, standing in anticipation. This was victory or embarrassment. The ball tipped inside the hoop and fell right through the mesh of the hoop.
WHOOSH
Magnus won.
"I WIN!" Magnus yelled.
"No way, without your magic, I would have won." Alec said.
"Sore loser." Magnus said.
"Whatever." Alec muttered.
"Well, rules are rules and I get to make you do something." Magnus said.
"I'm preparing for the worst." Alec said.
"Oh, you must." Magnus said, rubbing his hands, evil-like.
"By the angel." Alec breathed. Alec looked away and shut his eyes.
Magnus walked over to Alec and whispered into his ear, "Marry me."
Alec turned right around, "What?" he asked.
"Your task, is to marry me. You can't say no." Magnus pouted.
"Of course I will marry you. Magnus I would marry you in a heartbeat." Alec said. Alec cupped Magnus' cheeks and leaned down and brought his lips on Magnus'.
It was a soft press, almost a brush. But, it was so beautiful. Filled with promise.
"I knew you couldn't resist me." Magnus said.
"Shut up." Alec said, smiling. Horse was now his favourite game.
