Alec knew that Magnus was drunk the moment he saw him lying outside in the alley at the back of Pandemonium. They had just dispatched a demon and were exiting the back way when Alec saw a glittery purple scarf and thought he was imagining it before he noticed the head resting against it.
"Magnus." Clary said and took a step forward when Alec firmly grabbed her wrist stopping her in her tracks."Let me take care of this." He said eyes never leaving his ex-boyfriend. "Please." He added when no one moved.
Isabelle was surprisingly the first one to speak. "Guys, if Alec says he has this,then he does. We're only a phone call away." She said.
"But what if Magnus doesn't.." Jace's voice faded as he realized what he was saying and who he was saying it in front of.
"What if Magnus doesn't want my help?" Alec ended the thought coldly. "That's too damn bad. He needs it. Besides I'm not sure he'll tell the difference between me and a stranger anymore."
"Go." Alec snapped after another moment of silence. "We're a phone call away." Izzy reminded Alec while hugging him. "I know,Iz."
Finally he got everyone to go. He stared down at the warlock and heaved a sigh. It was as if all the words he wanted to say and all the feelings he wanted to express to Magnus were in that sigh.
Alec kneeled down in front of Magnus and brushed a strand of purple tipped raven hair 'to match the scarf of course' Alec thought, out of Magnus's eyes. 'His hair is still so soft'
Alec pushed the sentimental thought away and gently slapped Magnus's face. "Magnus, you need to wake up. At least for a little bit. Magnus."
"Ale- Alexander?" Magnus said opening his eyes.
Alec was frozen. He didn't think Magnus would recognize him and he wasn't ready for the effect those gorgeous, special eyes would have on him. "Magnus, we need to get you home." He whispered numbly.
He helped Magnus sit up and called a cab. "Just stay awake a little longer." Alec whispered. "And then you can go back to pretending I don't exist. It's just for a little longer." He whispered so low, he was sure Magnus couldn't hear him anyway.
