For The Better

A/N:  This chapter wasn't meant to be heart breaking. However, the next one should be. If you guys want it to be.

3rd Person POV

The sound of laughter rang out through the hall as Y/N felt his heart break at Summer's words. "I... I-I..." Summer scoffed, crossing her arms "You what? Thought I'd give a stuttering idiot like you a chance? You must be as brain dead as that grandmother of yours. Now run along little ferret. We have business to take care of." Y/N felt his body shake, but rather than showing his emotions, he turned around and walked away. The laughter following him on his way out. However, from a distance, a certain someone punched a locker, leaving a rather large dent in it. As he pushed through the crowd of people, his eyes were kept to the ground. 'Don't look up at them...' The boy thought. 'Looking up at them will only make the pain worse...'

A cold breeze blew past Y/N as he sat on the bleachers, alone. Usually, he'd come out here to think after troubling days and today was no different. "Sup... L/N." Even though he heard Jackie's voice, he didn't seem acknowledge her presence. Jackie had been his long time bully. She never really hurt him physically, though when she did, she usually pushed him into lockers or held him up by his jacket. "L/N..." Her voiced seemed softer than usual, however he still didn't pay her any mind. "I heard what that snotty brat said to you. It's fucked up that's she talked about your grandma like that. She had nothing to do w-" Y/N suddenly stood up, still staying silent. He began to make his way towards the metal stairs, but he felt Jackie grab on to his wrist "It's rude to walk away from someone when they're trying to talk to you."

"I don't have anything to say..."
"Really? Even when I push you around you still have something to say."
"Just leave me alone..."
"So you can cry about being rejected by a snotty whore?"
"Let go."
"No. Look L/N, quit acting like a damn pussy! Why spill tears for a bitch that didn't even look your direction? For God's sake she talked about your dying grandmother!"
"..."

Jackie sighed, tightening her grip "Look, I know you probably don't wanna hear anything I have to say...but stay strong...alright?"

"Says the person who's bullied me for years..." He snatched his hand from her, his voice slightly cracking. "Y/N..." For the first time in years, Jackie finally called him by his first name. "I... I know what I did and I know I can't fix our past, but... just let me help." He shook a bit and he finally faced her "What do you want from me Jackie? Do you really want to help me, or do you just want to kick me while I'm already down?" The former bully bit her lip as she seen the tears in his eyes form "If I didn't want to help you, why would I be here? Why would ask multiple people where you go after school?"

"To hurt me even more..."
"Shut the fuck up L/N!" He slightly jumped at her change in tone.
"I came here to help you! I came here to help you forget about that rich cunt! I... I came here to change..." She closed her eyes for a few moments, but she soon felt him hold on to her "L-L/N?"

Unsure what to do, Jackie just held him tightly. "Hey, don't worry about that redheaded slut. Don't waste your tears on her, alright?" Despite her words, Y/N still cried. Usually she'd get pissed if someone didn't listen to her, but this time...she made an exception. "Let it all out..."

Later that day, Jackie walked with Y/N to his home. She knew that he could make the trip himself, however she wanted to be there just in case his mind wandered back to the Snotty Slut. "We're finally here." Jackie looked down at him before nodding "Stay strong L/N..." She turned to walk away, but Y/N grabbed her hand. "Wait. Would... Would you...like to stay for a bit? My parents should be cooking dinner right now..." Jackie smirked, poking his cheeks "Aw...is the nerd finally letting me meet his parents?" His eyes widened and he began to panic "I-I didn't mean-"

"Too late!" Walking towards the door, she knocked...rather loudly. The door opened to reveal Y/N's father who, in Jackie's opinion, was taller than the lockers at school.

"So you finally brought a girl home?"
"Dad!" Jackie smirked, taking his hand.
"Sure did! Y/N's been nervous for weeks, but I finally encouraged him to bring me here."
"J-Jackie?!"

Y/N's Dad chuckled as he walked into the living room "Come in you two. Dinner should be ready shortly." Y/N turned his head to Jackie, who still kept the same smirk on her face. "Why did you say that?" She chuckled "Because it was gonna be fun. And as you can see, it was."

"For you maybe..."

Once the two walked in, Jackie gave Y/N's hand a tight squeeze "Thanks by the way..." Y/N simply stared at her before smiling "No problem. You helped me... so I'll help you." The two sat down on the opposite couch, their hands still together. For some reason, neither one of them felt like letting go. To the both of them this felt comforting. It was comforting to Y/N due to the fact that it seemed like someone finally had his back. To Jackie, it let her know that she was changing for the better. "So... d-do you still wanna keep holding hands or..."

"Yeah. If you let go though... I'm gonna kill you."
"N-Noted..."

Time Skip- Next Week

"Looks like the rumors were true..."
"Holy shit..."
"Right? Who would've known..."

As Y/N and Jackie walked through the halls, Jackie pulled him closer, glaring at any person they came across. "J-Jackie, you're doing it again..." She looked down at him, chuckling "Sorry, I just hate when people stare..."

"Not when I do it..."
"That's because your mine Y/N. Mine and mine only." As the two continued down the hall, they came to a full stop when they saw her at the end of the hall. "Aw, looks like the outcasts finally got together." Y/N heard Jackie growl under her breath and he sighed "Jackie... she isn't worth it. She's... She's just angry that her boyfriend gave her a disease anyways..." Everyone in the hall, froze and looked at Y/N in disbelief. Jackie, however, laughed her ass off. "My God I love you!"

The two shared an odd love for each other... but it was something they cherished.

A/N: As I said, this was a bit light hearted. The next one however... that decision is on you guys.
