A Fear Worse Than Death
A/N: Before we start, I want to say that this will be the longest chapter of this book...so far at least. I try to really go in depth on what happens in here so it may seem a little different than what I usually do. I really believe that Abuse stories should really go into detail, telling as to why something happened. Requested by a good friend known as PrinceOfPars. Also, I couldn't think of a good title. So... Yeah...
3rd Person POV
Silence. Pure, cold silence. Never in his life had Y/N known that something so calming yet so frightening existed. With the silence, there can be peace and joy. No loud music... no loud footsteps... no explosions. However, with silence, there can also be fear and danger. Without any noise, the sense of uncertainty can run wild. In silence, there can always be the possibility of someone watching you from the distance. Though... there was something that Y/N feared more than uncertainty. More than heights. More than, dare he even say, death.

Y/N's gaze slowly trailed around the living room. From the pictures of relatives to the lamps, his gaze seemed to be touching everything. However, once his eyes landed on a particular picture, Y/N had felt a few tears slide down his cheek. The picture was of him and a girl who was a little bit taller than he was. The girl was in athletic attire, her hair was even in a long ponytail. The look in her hazel eyes seemed so... astounding. There had been a large amount of joy within them, the kind of joy that Y/N hadn't seen in so long. "Jasper..." More tears began to slid down Y/N's face. He would've made sure to wipe them away, but he knew that even then he would just release more. "I... I should've never let you join... but I was just..." Y/N then bit the bottom of his lip.
"Everything that came your way... it was my fault." Y/N's gaze then moved to the ground. He could bare to even look at the photo anymore. It was bringing him too much heartache. "If there was anything I regret... it's letting you fall so deep into this rabbit hole..." For a brief moment, Y/N looked up at his reflection within the TV. Seeing the bandaid on his cheek, and the numerous bandages on his body, Y/N shook his head. "No... No, why am I doing this? Why... Why am I taking the blame? She did this to me. She... She was the one who scarred me! She... She was the one who hurt me the most. Or maybe... she's the one who hurt herself most."
Standing up from the couch, Y/N slowly made his way upstairs. "Jasper won't be back until tomorrow morning. At least I'll have the bed to myself..." Coming into the bedroom, Y/N fell straight on to the bed, falling asleep instantly as soon as his head hit the pillow. His final thoughts before he fell asleep were of Jasper. Just like normal.

Jasper released a soft sigh as she sat in her locker room. She wasn't sure if she could do this. Hell, she wasn't sure of anything at the moment. Tonight was her first match... and she was nervous as hell. "Jasper?" The brunette jumped slightly at the sound of Y/N's voice. "B-Babe? What are you doing in here? Shouldn't you be out there?"
"I just came to check up on you. You alright?"
"I... I'm a little bit... nervous."
"Well it's your first boxing match. You're gonna get nervous."
"What if... What if I get knocked out round one? What if I make a fool of myself?" Y/N took a seat by Jasper and placed his head on her shoulder. "You won't. I know you won't. Vince knows too. He is your trainer after all."
"O...okay..."
"You still sound unsure."
"..."
"Jasper, you've trained months for this fight. You. Got. This. You wanna know why?"
"W...Why?"
"Because you are Jasper Valentine. The Jasper Valentine. The girl I fell in love with and the girl who is going to win her match tonight."
Before Jasper could utter another word, Vince walked in with a couple of his guys. "Alright Jasper. It's show time." Slowly, Jasper stood up and looked back at Y/N. "Looks like I'm up." Y/N then gave her a cheeky smile. "Knock 'em dead babe. Not literally anyways since we don't want anyone... you know, dead." Jasper giggled and leaned down, planting her lips on his. "Kiss for good luck." As Jasper and her team walked away, Y/N couldn't help but smile.

"See, what did I tell you? You did great!" A small blush formed on Jasper's face as she felt Y/N wrap his arms around her. "I-I did... didn't I?" Once Y/N pulled away from the hug, Vince handed his camera to one of the team members. "Alright, let's make this quick! I know you two have somewhere else to be." Vince got in the middle of the two and put his arms around their shoulders. "Ready?" The two nodded and a large flash nearly blinded them "What kind of camera was that Vince?!" Y/N began to rub his eyes "That thing must be powered by the damn sun!"
"Whatever kid. Let's get one of you two together. You'll at least have a picture in your home." Y/N rolled his eyes and Jasper smiled. "Three... Two... One..."

The sound of Y/N's alarm made the poor boy shiver slightly. When Jasper was home, she hated hearing it. Thankfully she wasn't here yet. Quickly turning it off, Y/N walked into the bathroom and shut the door. After doing his normal routine, he walked out the door, a small smile dawning his face. "Hopefully today is different..." As he walked down the step, the front door opened up just a bit, causing Y/N's heart to stop. Walking through the door was Jasper, her eyes looking as though she hadn't been able to rest. Suddenly, her gaze began to trail up the steps, spotting Y/N in his bandages. "H-Hey Jasper..."
"...Hey." She then shut the door, slowly making her way up the steps. Y/N, still a bit unsure about what she was going to do, merely stood there "How... How was your trip?" Ignoring him, Jasper grabbed him by his arm, dragging him into the bedroom. Jasper then tossed him on to the bed as if he were a stuffed animal. "J-Jasper wait, I-" Y/N's words began to trail off when Jasper laid on the bed next to him. "Lay down..." Still a little confused, Y/N did as she asked. Jasper wrapped her arm around Y/N, pulling him closer to her "That alarm is off...right?"
"Y-Yeah."
"Good... I always hated that thing."
"J...J-Jasper?"
"What?"
"How... How was your trip?" Y/N asked once more.
"It was fine. Now let me sleep. You know how much I hate it when we talk this long."
"...But you used to love our talks..." Y/N stated softly.
Despite how much he wanted to say it out loud, Y/N knew that Jasper might snap at him, furthering his injuries.

"So how are you feeling, champion?" A large smile formed on Y/N's face as he and Jasper walked towards the locker room. After a total of 34 fights, Jasper had finally had a shot at the title, beating the former champion. Tonight, she was going to defend her title against a woman by the name of... Jacqui Briggs. It was quite odd seeing as how Y/N could've sworn he heard that last name before. "I'm feeling good. Real good." Jasper smirked, pinning Y/N against the wall. "W-Well that's... nice."
"After this match, why don't we celebrate with a bit of... fun~?"
"...O-Okay." Y/N could hear his voice crack slightly. Ever since she won the title, Jasper had been acting quite different. Hopefully the belt wasn't making her too prideful. "Great. Now why don't we head into the locker room and wait for Vince, hm?" Jasper grabbed Y/N's hand, leading him into the locker room.
Time Skip
"Alright, round five..." Like most of the crowd, Y/N was on the edge of his seat. In the first two rounds, Jasper seemed to have the edge, but once the third round came, Jacqui seemed to get the upper hand, landing body shots that often caused Jasper to stumble. In the fourth round, Jacqui started to get in stronger hits, nearly causing Jasper to fall over. Had that kept going, Jasper would've been done for. "Come on Jasper, you got this..." As Y/N finished his statement, the bell rang and both fighters walked into the middle of the ring. Jacqui put her hand out as a sign of respect, but Jasper, looking enraged, swung with a right hook. Jacqui quickly ducked under it, slamming her fist in Jasper's side. Once Jasper stepped back in pain, Jacqui continued her assault on her body, striking her right side the most seeing as though it was her weakest point. Each time Jasper tried to guard her sides, Jacqui would land shots on her face, making her get pushed back on the ropes. "Damn it! Johnny, get me the towel!" Vince knew that Jasper couldn't handle Jacqui. She was just too much for Jasper.
Getting the towel from Johnny, Vince quickly threw in the towel, causing the bell to ring.
A Couple Minutes Later
"What the hell was that Vince?!"
"Briggs was too much for you! She was seeing how you fight in the first few rounds and then she pounded you in! I was saving you from an embarrassing knockout!"
"I could've won!"
"You couldn't handle her!"
"I COULD HAVE! NOW I HAVE TO WATCH SOME BITCH PARADE AROUND WITH MY BELT!"
Hearing Vince and Jasper yell at each other, Y/N quickly made his way into the locker room. "Hey, hey! Enough you guys! Jasper, Vince was just looking out for you. Jacqui... She was a different beast."
"And you're saying that I'm not?"
"Jasper I'm not saying that."
"Then what are you saying, huh?" Jasper slowly made her way towards him, her eyes filled with malice.
"Jasper, calm down-" Jasper grabbed Y/N by his collar, staring into his eyes. "You're supposed to be on my side! Not hers!"
"J-Jasper, please calm down!"
"Jasper, let Y/N go! Listen to him! Listen to us!"
After a few moments, Jasper let go of Y/N. "Get out. Both of you. I need to change."
