Shantae X Male Reader
P.O.V. [Name]
I was walking down the streets. I had heard that Shantae and her friends were going to be in town for a few days. I hope she still remembers me, although I'm not going to be upset if she doesn't.
After all the last time we saw each other was more than a thousand years ago. I don't remember what she looked like but I remember that she was fun to be around and that she didn't judge me, not like all these humans do.
I sighed as I walked into my house and waited for sun to go down. When I saw that the sun had finally went down I walked outside and began to look for Shantae. I looked around town for her, the humans are having some kind of festival tonight so it might be a little more difficult than before to find her.
I walked through the streets where I saw several people gathering. I walked through the crowd looking for the female. I think it'd be best if I told her how I feel before she has to leave again. I looked through the crowd and saw a familiar head of purple hair standing in front of a stand.
I looked at her just a bit to make sure that it was really her and not my mind playing tricks on me. She had long purple hair tied into a ponytail and blue eyes that stood out in the night.
She then looked in my direction and smiled. When she did I returned her smile and began to walk towards her. She then began to slowly run towards me waving. I felt my face heat up slightly hearing this and waved back.
I then began to walk towards her and as we came closer to each other I noticed her eyes weren't that focused on me. However I soon figured out why when we got close she didn't slow down and walked past me.
I stood there in slight shock for a moment before my senses returned to me. I smiled sadly seeing this and began to walk away. I should have known that she wouldn't remember me. After all no one really wants to be friends with a demon.
I tried not to look back so that I didn't make things awkward. However I found myself looking back despite what my better judgement told me. I saw her smiling and walking with a boy. My chest felt heavy when I saw this.
I turned around and began to walk away from the crowd. It's only a matter of time before the crowd sees my eyes. I found myself walking towards the small park that this city had.
I walked through the park it was nice during the night. It was more peaceful than it was during the day. I then found myself sitting under my favorite tree and looking up at the stars.
I find it hard to believe that something as simple as the night sky always manages to bring me peace of mind. I then sighed and thought about Shantae and that promise we made a thousand years ago.
I then sighed and closed my eyes not wanting to think about it. However through my eyes I saw a dim light. When I opened my eyes I saw that the light was beside me. I saw that the light was coming off of a pure white flower.
I looked at it for a few seconds before smiling slightly. "I never thought I'd be lucky enough to see one of these again," I said looking at the flower.
"Why's that?" I heard a voice say. When I turned my direction towards the voice I saw a small girl looking at me. I sighed seeing this realizing that she probably couldn't tell that I was a demon.
"It's a Lunar Tear, they're among the rarest flowers known to man. Most will never get to see this flower," I said looking at her. When I said this she walked over to the flower and stared at it for a bit.
"It's really pretty," She said looking at it.
"Indeed, they're well known for the trait. They're said to be flowers of almost perfect beauty. Most people tend to find them by dumb luck because of the glow they emit in the night," I said looking at her.
"I heard that they can grant wishes," The young female said looking at me.
"I've also heard that but I somehow doubt that's true," I said looking at the female. I then reached for the flower and when I did it started to curl into a bulb.
I gave a sad smile seeing this and looked at the flower. I guess it deserves some credit to it's legend. I guess it can tell that I'm a demon, even if the girl can't.
"I need to go show mama," the little girl said as she began to walk away. I remember the last time I saw one of these.
"So are you going to wait for the girl to return with her mom?" I once again heard another female voice ask. When I looked towards the sound I noticed that they were going out of their way to stay in the shadows.
I sighed seeing this and decided to ignore it. "No, when, I hear them coming I'll leave. I'm sure that's what you want to hear right?" I asked looking at the female.
I didn't receive a response hearing this and looked at the female. "I noticed that you said you'd never thought you'd see this again. That means that you've seen it once before right," The female asked looking at me.
"Yeah, but that was a long time ago," I said looking at the flower.
"You know there's more surrounding them, than just their beauty and ability to grant wishes," The female said looking at me.
"Yeah, I didn't mention that part to the girl. I didn't want her thinking that she was meant to fall in love with me. Who knows how the villagers would react if a kind and innocent soul were to be corrupted by the towns cursed demon," I said clenching my fists slightly.
I then calmed down and looked towards the female. She was finally close enough for me to make out some of what she was wearing. Red shoes and red pants, they actually seem a bit familiar.
"I don't think you're that bad," The female said looking at me.
"Then you'd be one of the few, very few actually talk to me and it's usually out of fear or because they were ordered to," I said looking at her.
"Why's that?" She asked looking at me.
"What part of this "towns cursed demon" did you not get? I'm curse on this village want me gone to the point I think they'd move the town if they were capable of it. If I wasn't cursed to stay here then I'd leave. I hate this place," I said looking at her.
"Come now, they can't all be that bad," She said looking at me. I sighed hearing this and looked at her.
"No that's true not all of them are bad, but they easily make up the minority of the group. As long as I can remember there's only been a few people who's company I've genuinely enjoyed," I said looking at her.
"Who were they?" She asked looking at me.
"The first two were two elderly lovers. They were warriors who fought in a war. They were the first humans to ever see me as more than just a demon. However the day before the war ended they died. I had heard that they were found holding each others hands. It brings me peace of mind to know that they left this world as one," I said looking down.
"Wow . . . was there anyone else," The female asked looking at me.
"Yeah, there was this girl that I met close to a thousand years ago," I said looking at her.
"Oh, I see what was she like?" The female questioned looking at me.
"She, was the only girl who was persistent enough to get to know me well enough for me to tell her things that I hadn't told anyone else. I'm pretty sure I was in love with her," I said with a sigh.
"Aww- I mean she must have really meant a lot to you," she said looking at me. I looked at her for a bit because of what she had said at first but thought nothing of it.
"Judging by that Aww you started. I'm guessing you like love stories. Well I wouldn't get your hopes up because this one doesn't end well," I said looking in her direction.
She then came a little closer to me making sure that her face was still hidden. "We made a promise a while back that we'd meet again when she came back. She didn't return for a thousand years. When she did she ran past me to one of her friends. She didn't recognize me or maybe she just forgot about me. Either way it's not a happy ending," I said looking in her direction.
I then heard footsteps coming towards the tree rather fast. "Guess this is when I leave," I said getting up from the ground. I started to walk towards her and when I did I felt her grab my wrist.
I turned towards her seeing this and she lunged forward in a hug. I felt my face heat up seeing this and was about to push them away until I realized that the person that was hugging me had long purple hair.
When I realized this I felt my face heat up even more. "Shantae? Oh my! P-please tell me that-" I began only for her to cut me off with a kiss. Before I had the chance to relax into the kiss she separated and looked at me.
"Didn't know a promise could mean that much to someone," she said looking at me. She then leaned forward and embraced me in a hug. "Although I was hoping you'd be able to tell the real me apart from a magic clone," She said looking at me.
"Clone?" I said looking at her.
"Yeah, my friend wanted me to spend some time with him but I really wanted to see you. So I made a clone to spend some time with him so that I could get away and see you again," She said looking at me.
I smiled seeing this and looked at her. "I-I thought you'd forgotten about me," I said looking at her. I felt a small amount of tears build up behind my eyes.
However I quickly wiped them. "Are you okay?" Shantae asked looking at me. I nodded when she asked this and she smiled.
"Yeah I'm fine, they're just tears of joy," I said looking at her. She smiled hearing this and looked at me.
"Well let's go before those two get here. After all it sounds like they're close," she said looking at me. I nodded hearing this and we began to walk away hand in hand.
