P.O.V. Caeldori

I was walking through a small town called Fairbell. Apparently it had just recently come under attack and they wanted some more protection. It wasn't a very big town but it was doing well for what it was.

Everything seemed to fine at the moment I don't think anyone would mind if I slipped out of town for a few minutes. I then began to walk to the edge of town when I reached it I walked to were I saw an open field.

I then walked through the field and saw a few people gather around a tall black rock. When I approached I saw that there were several names written on the rock. I can only guess that it's a memorial to those who died.

I then approached one of the males that had been standing in front of the rock. "Um excuse me but may I ask what this is?" I asked looking at him.

"It's a memorial to those who died a few days ago," the male said looking at the rock. So I was right, it is a memorial for people that died. I then noticed the sad expression on the males face.

"I'm guessing someone important to you died?" I asked looking at him. When I asked this he nodded and I sighed. "So who was it?" I asked looking at him.

"His name was Rain and he was my instructor," the male said looking at me.

"Instructor?" I asked looking at him. He nodded when I asked this and stood up. The male then started to walked away. As he walked away I noticed that a few others were talking.

"Hey [Name] we're going to the lake do you want to come?" One of the males asked looking at the person I now knew was called [Name].

"No," [Name] said as he walked passed them. When he did this seemed to irritate the others for some reason.

"Why not?" One of the males asked looking at [Name].

"I have target practice right now," [Name] said as he continued to walk. This seemed to irritate the males even more for some reason.

"Hey guys I got an idea. How about we practice our own marksmanship," a male said as he picked up a rock. When he said this others nodded and smiled as they also picked up some rocks.

"Stop!" I said looking at the males in front of me. However this had little effect as one threw a rock anyway. When he did [Name] barely moved out of the way and kept walking.

"That guy," another male said looking at him with anger. "Acting like that just because he got into the guard and we didn't," he said as he picked up another rock. They all then began to throw rocks at the male.

When they did each time the male would just barely move out of the way and keep walking. "You guys! Stop!" I said looking at them. This once again did little to discourage them.

"Shut up! This is between us and him!" One of the males said as he threw another rock. I guess that's true but I can't just stand by and do nothing. "Hey stop running from us!" A male said looking at the male. "If running away was all Rain did then no wonder he died!" One of the males said as he threw a rock.

This however managed to get a reaction from the male as he caught of the rocks and threw it back. However it wasn't at the males it was at the rocks that they were throwing.

The rock that he had thrown hit a rock and bounced off it when it did it then hit another rock and like the first time bounced off it. It then hit a rock out of one of the males hand that was getting ready to throw it.

The male then turned around and continued to walk away. Seems like that target practice of his is really paying off.

P.O.V. [Name]

I was suddenly awoken to the sound of a large explosion. When I heard this I got from bed and ran outside. When I did I saw that there were once again people trying to invade us.

I then ran back in the house and into a small room. When I did I saw that Amelia was still in her bed but she was starting to cry. When I saw this picked her up and headed outside.

I didn't see anyone around so I'm guessing most of them made it to the shelter. I then began to run down the street with Amelia in my arms.

As I was running I heard some grunting. When I looked at the source I saw the female from earlier that day with an arrow in the back of her leg. "Damn it where is everyone?" She questioned as she pulled the arrow out.

I was told that she was one of the new recruits that we requested. We probably don't have much time before the invaders find us. By the way it looks we're heavily outnumbered. "Hey!" I called to the female.

"This way! We're going to the shelter," I said looking at the female. When I said this, she nodded and walked towards me. I then started to run down the street with her holding onto my shirt. I'm guessing it's because her leg is hurt and she didn't want to get left behind.

When we arrived I sighed and looked at the female. "Stay here and make sure everyone's safe," I said looking at her. When I said this she nodded and I looked at her. "Also," I said getting ready to hand her Amelia. "Make sure she stays safe," I said looking at her. She took the small child from me when I said this and nodded.

She then walked into the shelter and I sighed. When she did I began to look for other people that needed help.

Timeskip

I was looking at several people that were repairing buildings. I at the moment was also holding Amelia in my arms. "[Name]!" I heard a female call out to me.

When I turned I saw a female with red hair and red eyes walking towards me. "Oh hey, it's you," I said looking at her.

"Yeah, sorry if I'm interrupting anything," she said looking at me.

"No, I'm justing watching to see how their progress goes," I said as I looked at the few men and women that were busy trying to rebuild houses and buildings.

"Anyway, the reason I came here was to say thanks. If you hadn't been there when the attack happened. I'm not sure I would have made it," she said looking at me.

"I don't know about that, from what I've heard you're capable of taking care of yourself, but I'm glad you didn't die," I said looking at her. When I said this her face turned a slight shade of pink and she smiled.

"Oh I just realized I never introduced myself my names Caeldori," she said looking at me. She then looked at the young child that I was currently holding. "Is she your younger sister?" She asked looking at me.

"No this is Amelia she's Rain's daughter. Her mother died during birth and with her father out of the picture I figured I'd repay Rain by taking care if her," I said looking at the female. She seemed a bit surprised by this but then gave a kind smile.

"Can I hold her?" Caeldori asked looking at the young child in my arms.

"No," I said looking at her. When I asked this she became a little upset and looked at me.

"Why not?" She asked looking at me a little upset.

"I don't want her to cry," I said looking at her. When I said this she then looked at Amelia.

"She's cute," she said looking at me. When I said this I nodded. "Anyway the real reason I can here was to congratulate you. You're supposed to be getting a promotion right?" She asked looking at me.

"Yeah, it's not like I'm becoming head of the guard but it's still nice to know they appreciate what I'm doing," I said looking at her. She nodded and smiled hearing this.

"Oh!" Caeldori said as if she had just remembered something. She then reached into a small bag that she was carrying and pulled out some sweets.

"I heard that people here like to celebrate when someone gets a promotion. I know these don't really qualify as a gift but if you don't mind I'd still like you to take them," she said looking at me.

"My mom used to talk about the sweets this town has. She said that these were her favorite and that if I ever stopped by I should get some," she said looking at them

"Then again I guess someone as serious as you who's a member of the guard and shows such talent and skill wouldn't have a sweet tooth huh?" She said as she pulled the sweets away. "Sorry for assuming," she said looking at me.

She then smiled and looked at the several sweets in front of her. "Well since I already opened them. I guess I'll eat them," she as she took a bite out of one. She then smiled and looked at me.

She looked me for a second and then sighed. "Don't tell me . . . You want one right?" She asked looking at me. I then felt my face heat up a little realizing I must have been making a face.

She then offered me one and I smiled and took it. When I started to eat it she laughed slightly. "Is it that strange?" I asked looking at her.

"No it's not that, it's just I've known you for about a month now and I had no idea what type of foods you liked," she said looking at me.

"Talent, skill, and rank have nothing to do with what someone likes to eat," I said feeling a little embarrassed. She then smiled hearing this and looked at me.

"I suppose that's true," she said looking at me. She then sighed and looked at me. "I know, I'll make it up to you," she said looking at me.

"Make it up to me?" I questioned looking at her. When I asked this she nodded and looked at me.

"Yes! Is there anything you want?" She asked looking at me.

"Anything I want?" I repeated back to her when I said this Caeldori nodded and looked at me. I thought about it for a moment and then sighed.

"Nothing that you can provide. Everything I want is out of my reach now," I said looking at her. She nodded in understanding when I said this and I sighed.

"Hey!" I heard someone call out to me. When I turned my attention I saw someone from my squad looking at me. "We have another mission [Name]. Stop flirting and let's go!" He said as he turned around and began to walk away.

"We're not flirting!" Caeldori said looking at the male I sighed and looked at her.

"You can repay me by watching Amelia until I get back," I said looking at the female. When I said this she smiled and I handed Amelia over to her. I then began to walk away and as I did I heard Amelia start to cry.

Timeskip

As I returned I began to start looking for Caeldori and Amelia. I didn't hear any crying so that's a good sign. As I walked through I finally came across Caeldori and Amelia.

"See this isn't so bad right," Caeldori said looking at the small child. I smiled seeing this and walked up to her. When I did she smiled and looked at me.

"How was she?" I asked looking at the female in front of me.

"Well after she stopped crying she wasn't that bad," she said looking at me.

"How long did it take her to stop crying?" I asked looking at her.

"A few hours," she said with a sigh. I suddenly felt a little bad for what I did.

"Oh, sorry to hear that. Listen I know this was supposed to be you repaying me but you never really had any debt with me. So if you want me to make it up to you I will," I said looking at her.

"Anything I want?" She asked looking at me.

"Anything within reason," I said looking at her. When I said this she nodded and thought about it. Her face then turned a little red. Before I could ask her what was wrong she pulled me into a kiss.

I felt my face heat up slightly however the kiss ended as soon as quickly as it started. "There now we're even," she said looking at me. I felt my face heat up when she said this and she stood up and began to walk away.

"You know if you like I wouldn't mind going on a date," I said looking at her. When I said this her face turned a slight shade of pink and she smiled.

"I'd like that," she said looking at me.
