Faith ( Knight Male Reader )

Queen POV

I stand before all my troops. All my people.

"They are coming for us," I announce as discontent arises in the crowd.

I stand atop a grand castle. My people look at me, fear in their eyes.

The giant mass of people flood the streets of my kingdom. All of them hoping for good news. But I have none.

"I won't mislead any of you. Our Kingdom will fall," I declare sadly. Discontent rises even more.

Crowds are starting to became restless.

I like to think I've been a good Queen considering my young age. My people were always happy under my rule. However, enemy nations seek to end it.

"I'm sorry," I finish as everyone bursts into screams asking questions that even I don't know the answer to.

I'm sorry everyone. I have no more choices.

"My Queen," my commanding Knight says as I turn around to leave

"What (Y/N)," I say in a sour voice. I feel sick to my stomach.

"Do you have no faith?" He asks me as I look at him. His armour hides his face, I've never seen his face before. He served under my father and when the crowned was passed to me he was promoted to commander.

"What do you mean?" I ask him as his (E/C) look into mine

"Do you have no faith in me?" He asks again, his voice cracking with emotion.

I stood stunned for a moment.

"Do you not believe that I can protect our wonderful kingdom? Do you believe I will fail the task that your father has given me?" He asks. Yes. My father gave this Knight the task of protecting me.

"I---I don't know," I say defeated.

"My highness. This Kingdom will not fall under your rule," he says filled with passion.

"I don't see how that will be true!" I say as he continues to stare at me.

"So you have no faith," he says looking away into the panicking crowd.

He does something I'd never expect. He marches to face the entire crowd. All of our people.

"Attention!" He yells. His voice overpowers everything that was in progress.

The crowd falls silent.

"The moment we lay down and accept defeat is the moment that the kingdom dies!" He screams for everyone to hear.

"The Queen will die! Our families will die! Everything will die!" He yells.

"So. I will do everything in my power to prevent that! We must not lose hope!"

"I will die before the kingdom dies! I will happily lay down my life for our Queen, and that's what I will do!"
He finishes as the coward continues its silence.

Then a cheer erupts. A cheer that was so loud that any neighbouring nation would hear.

He turned around, Looked at me, and nodded.

What does that mean?

Oh. I see.

He kneels as I approach him. I look at the crowd.

"Till death do us part," I tell everyone as they all nod.

(Y/N) POV 1 month later

I stand atop hundreds of bodies. The war was bloody. The battle zones ripped to pieces.

The queen, I must protect the queen.

The ruins of our once great kingdom, splattered with death and destruction.

"The enemies breached the castle!" A knight yells as I pick up my pace.

I sneak toward some enemy archer and I slash them down without a second thought.

For the queen!

I run into a battle involving a enemy battalion. I didn't care. I received some cuts, but every 1 cut had 20 enemy soldiers killed.

I was the death of the battle field, a human raised to kill.

My sword cut deep into enemies, and then when they died, it found another.

The blade was in flesh more then it was not.

I glided through bodies as I made my way to our beautiful queen.

I reached the Queens chambers. The two guards had just been cut down, and the enemy knights were honing in on her with their swords drawn.

"Queen!" I yell as I cover the distance in a flash.

10 enemy Knights dead before they even had a chance to know what was going on.

The beautiful chamber was now dripping with Crimson blood.

I look at the queen as her eyes were wide open in shock.

"My lady, are you ok?" I ask her as she just stares at me with her wonderful pale blue eyes through her crimson hair

"We can't win this," she cries as I resist the feeling to comfort her.

"My queen, we are winning!" I lie as she looks at me

"There's no need to lie to me, I know our chances," she says as her eyes become teary and red.

"My people are dying," she says as I keep silent.

"I should die with my people," she mutters as more enemy troops appear at the door.

"No. We will win," I say as I stand between her and the enemy.

"We may win, but there's no way I can survive," she says as even more Knights fill the room.

I look around as the chamber floods with enemy knights

"This is your last chance to surrender!" The lead knight yells as he rushes to the front of his men.

"Have faith in me," I say as her eyes tear up.

"I see no way you can win," she tells me as I remember my uprising.

"You've been given a gift Mr (L/N)...A gift that I hope will serve my daughter will. You must not let others find out about it. You hold our kingdoms trump card," The former king said during his meeting with me to be the commanding knight after he dies. I had always been a knight assigned to protecting the princess...who is now queen

"I'm afraid...I must use it," I say as I feel my body start to charge with electricity.

"Use what?" She asks me as I look into her blue eyes

"A gift that I was given to protect you," I tell the young woman. Her time as queen has been filled with war. A war that is no fault of her own...but a war that she must endure.

"What gift?" She asks as I look away.

I've protected this woman ever since we were kids, and then her knight during her queen hood.

"You shall not lay a finger on her," I mutter as I raise my longsword.

"My queen...cover your ears," I say as she follows my request.

The energy raised to a peak inside my body.

I've never used this ability of me, because I was forbidden to use it unless the queens life was in danger...this is the only time.

Despite never using it before...I know every detail of it somehow.

I felt the energetic feel of my body...a giant lake of energy being held behind a damn...and the damn was about to burst.

I let the damn go as I feel my body accelerate to hypersonic speeds.

Queen POV

I cover my ears as (Y/N) told me to do.

And then, the chamber exploded into a crimson sea of blood. My fathers room. The room I had seen him so many times working inside of...was dyed a colour of red.

My eyes open in shock as I realize that all of the enemies had died. Not even a second had passed and they were all lifeless.

"Oh my god," I say as (Y/N) is once again standing in front of me with he back turned me.

"My highness," he says as he turns to greet me. His (E/C) coloured eyes looking like they had lost all of their glint of life that they had been so full of earlier.

"What?" I ask him as I raise from the throne.

"I got them," he mutter under his breath.

"Sorry?" I ask a little confused.

"I killed them all. The kingdom is safe," he says as he's eyes roll into the back of his head. He collapsed. I stood dumbfounded at first.

Then I look up at the death he had inflicted to the enemy

"My Queen!" Soldiers yell as they come charging inside the chamber. They stop when they see the pile of corpses that were alive a minute ago.

"The enemy...has dropped died! We are safe!" They declare once they regain their wits.

"How!" I ask as I look at my fallen knight.

"Did he do this!" I ask as I drop to my knees and check his pulse.

It was fast. Rapid fast.

100 bpm. 200 bpm. 300. 400. The more I count the more I come to realize that I don't actually feel a pulse at all.

Although. It's not because it's not beating at all...rather because it's just too fast to accurately count by hand.

"Get a medic!" I yell as once of the soldiers disappear.

"(Y/N)?" I ask the fallen man as his eyes faintly open

"My Queen....My legs hurt," he says as I look toward his legs...they look fine.

"You still have them," I say as he shakes his head.

"They hurt so bad...I don't want them," he says in extreme pain.

"What happened?" I ask him as his face enters even more pain.

"Ahhhhh!" He screams as his body is still motionless.

"Medic coming!" I hear someone yell as I notice a doctor running through the chamber.
"The boy really used it!" He says in surprise

"Do you know what happened?" I ask him as he nods.

"I do, but we must hurry," he says as he requested for another solider to help him get (Y/N) up.

"You must take the reigns of our kingdom...they need to know that we have won," the doctor says as they take him away

"But what about (Y/N)," I ask he shrugs.

"The boy doesn't matter, the kingdom does," he says before leaving,

How can he talk like that!

I try to follow them, but a knight urges me to speak with my people.

Even though I wish to be with my childhood friend. I will need to wait.

(Y/N) POV

My legs pulse in pain as I bite down in pain

"Rest easy. Your service is no longer needed," they say as they walk away.

I look in hopeless despair as their silhouettes get farther and farther. So this is why the old king said to keep it a secret. The people that I had sworn to protect would make me an outcast.

I reach up and grab the mask that had long since covered my face. My fingers trail to the harness that keeps it on my face. I slowly undo the buckle and it falls of my face.

I still remember why I had to wear the mask...I remember it like it was yesterday

"You must wear a mask my boy. It should help the princess from growing connected to you," the then commanding officer told me.

"But why? It's uncomfortable," I plea as she frowns.

"Listen, not many boys, especially under aged, are given the task of protecting the queen of the future. You wear the mask not only to protect her, but to help you live a normal life outside of your duties," she says with a smile.

"I...I see," I smile as I let the women put on the mask on to me.

"The princess is very kind hearted. Remember that kind hearted people will prevent those who they care about from doing their jobs...don't let that get in the way," she adds as she plants a single kiss on the forehead part of the mask.

I look at the blood covered fields. The few blades of grass that spared being damaged, blow in the wind that had developed outside the kingdom...it was quiet. Everyone hadn't started the clean up, they wouldn't start until tomorrow.

I look at my injuries. I doubt that I would last through the night.

I at least succeeded. I kept my promise the former King. His daughter is safe

I close my eyes as I find a moment in team where I can relax as the pain from my legs start to fade.

Queen POV

I return to the throne room after a largely successful speech. I don't know how we survived...but we did.

My mind wonders to what happened at the end of the battle.

I begin to search for the doctor that seemed to have known what happened.

"My queen?" He says startled when I approach him

"How my commanding knight! What happened to make him like that," I demand as he nods with a small smile

"Oh yes, the boy." He says before staring out of the window

"You father knew he wouldn't be around to protect you all the time," he begins

"So, he assigned a boy, a knight in training, to be your personal guard," he adds as I nod. Yes, (Y/N) was my personal knight before he was the commanding knight.

"Around that time, a sorcerer came into town speaking of a magic that can bring down an entire army, the downside, it could only be given to a child. I'm sure you know who that child was," he says as I nod

"It was (Y/N)," I say as he nods

"Yeah, the boy was given the gift. He was told to keep it a secret and only use it if your life was in danger,"

"Why was it only a last resort!?" I ask confused as to why we never used this to our advantage before the war reached our kingdom

"Because it kills the user," he finishes as my heart drops.

"But he was fine right!" I ask as my eyes begin to dart around his clinic.

"No, paralysis claims the victims entire body until they die...it's a death sentence," he adds

"Where is he!?" I demand as the doctors eyes fall to the ground

"We have no space for a man on his death bed. So he was placed outside the kingdom in the wreckage of the battle," he tells me honestly.

"No," I whisper as I look around. I was hoping that the doctor was joking and he would be here.

"Gather the knights!" I yell to some soldiers

"They are to escort me to my commanding Knight," I demand as two soldiers begin to run.

"Im afraid it'll be to late now. The paralysis will likely have his life already," he says as I look

"I don't care," I say as I notice some knights running to me.

I just wish to be there...to at least see with my own eyes.

(Y/N) POV

Everything was foggy. My eyes feel more tired by the minute. I'm sure that my soul was slowly burning out of fuel.

A noticed some figures in the horizon that were slowly getting closers and closer.

The queen musta found out.

Sure enough, I see the signature red hair that those on the throne possess

They reach me moments after as she rushes toward my sitting position.

"My Knight!" She calls as I don't have the strength to move my head...when did I become so weak?

I open my mouth to speak, but nothing happens...ah, this must be the paralysis...I didn't think it would be this strong already.

"Your eyes!" She says with a smile as every ounce of my body goes into speaking only a couple words that I wish to say.

"My Queen...you look....beautiful as always," I say extremely weakly as she bends down next me.

"You...saved the kingdom...I'm eternally graceful...and you saved my life once again...you sacrificed your life to save mine," she begins as tears begin to fill in her eyes

"You weren't just my Knight. You were my friend. So please...rest easy," she says as she plants a kiss on my forehead.

It was warm...comforting. I force a smile as I begin to feel darkness to eat the edge of my brain.

"You served me extremely well!" She says as she engulfs me in a huge hug.

"Thank you for giving me faith" she says as my mind goes completely blank

Epilogue - Queen POV

"Mommy, tell me more!" A red haired boy says with a blush.

"I'm afraid that's all for tonight," I say as he frowns

"Ok...but promise that you will tell me more tomorrow," he pleas as I laugh

"Of course I will my child," I say as I tenderly kiss his forehead goodnight.

"Goodnight, (Y/N)" I say as the name brings up memories. Especially after the story that had just told him.

"The man your named after was the most faithful Knight a queen could ever ask for," I say as I leave his room.
