Chapter 70: The Hunt For The Relics and Maidens
A/N: You get ready to leave to search for the relics and the maidens to access the vaults to said relics.
Sitting in his house after tending to his sunflowers, was sitting inside his house while looking at the news going on about the events that happened a few months ago in Haven.
Lisa: It's only been a 6 months since the attack on Haven. While The academy and Mistral manged to barely avoid destruction, many have wondered, what kingdom is next? And can they be protected, or suffer the same fate as Beacon and Vale.
Taiyang soon turned off the TV and just sighed for a moment.
Taiyang: Should've seen something like this happen eventually. I just didn't expect it to happen so soon. And it'll only get worse with the rest of the kingdoms.
He said with worry and frustration in his voice. Outside the house and leaning against the trunk of a tree, Raven was on a strong branch while looking down at Taiyang's house. She'd been coming around a few times. Though they were little moments, it was at certain time during the months she came by. But she didn't want to say anything to Taiyang. She just observed a few times and that was it. As she continued to look down at the house, she started to think about to what she and yang talked about back in the Vault.
(Flashback).
Yang: You might be powerful, but that doesn't make you strong.
Raven was enraged as the flames around her eyes rose a bit.
Raven: Who do you think you are lecturing me?! Standing there, shaking like a scared little girl?!
Yang: Yeah, I'm scared. But I'm still standing here! I'm not like you, I won't run, which is why you're going to give me the Relic.
She said as she started to approach her mother.
Raven: And why would I.......
Yang: Because you're afraid of Salem!!! And if you thought having Maiden powers put a target on your back, imagine what she'll do when she finds out you have a Relic.
Raven simeply turned away, seething.
Yang: She'll come after you with everything she has.
Raven's expression then turned solemn.
Yang: Or she can come after me.
Raven's eyes widened when she heard Yang say that, before turning back to her.
Yang: And I'll be standing there, waiting for her.
After a tense moment, Raven deactivated her Maiden powers.
Raven: You don't want to do this, Yang.
Yang: Nope. But I'm gonna do it anyway.
Yang walked forward, bumping her mother out of the way as she passed her. Raven looked down before turning to see her daughter approach the Relic chamber. A tear dropped from Raven's eye.
Raven: I...
She held her arm as tears well up in her eyes.
Raven: I'm sorry...
Tears well up in Yang's eyes as well.
Yang: Yeah... Me too.
(End of Flashback).
Raven soon reached for her sword to open up a portal, but she looked back at the house one last time and sighed before moving her hand away from her sword.
Raven: might as well just cut to the chase already.
She said before jumping off of the branch and landing in the ground. The thud from her landing was heard as Taiyang soon looked over to the door, with Zwei barking near it.
Taiyang: Hm?
He got up and headed to the door. Once he opened it, he was greeted by Raven, just standing a few feet away from the door. He looked back at her as Zwei poked his head out from the side of the door and panted.
Taiyang: Raven............
Raven was silent for a moment before she finally spoke.
Raven: Tai..... we need to talk.
(Meanwhile).
It was the end of the week and it was time to finally head out. It was a long and kinda stressful week. Some of the others were worried for what was more than likely ahead if they're going after something like the Relics and the Maidens. Blake was dealing with the responsibility of leading and gaining the loyalty to the White Fang. Most were willing to understand what it was that she explained to them about what the true meaning of the White Fang is, while others still thought that Adam's ways were the true way.
Blake: It's going to be hard with the remaining few who still look up to Adam.
(Y/N): Well, it's not always the most easy thing to deal with. Sometimes others are hard at accepting something that they're either not familiar with. It's only going to be through either good convincing or having the see the true result to what would happen if they follow Taurus.
Blake: I know.
A hand placed on her shoulder and she looked up to see Sun.
Sun: You got this. Plus you can always just knock some reason into them.
(Y/N): Like how she has to do with you sometimes?
Sun laughed as he scratched the back of his head.
(Y/N): Well, I have to head out to check on everyone else. I'll see you guys outside.
Blake: "sighs" yeah, see ya.
You walked out of the room and headed outside where people were packing things within a few boxes and vehicles.
(Y/N): We have so much of this. All these people. The majority we take with us to help in search of the Relics and Maidens while a few others we have to leave behind in order to keep another Relic from Salem's grasp. Even so, It feels like we're all entering a suicide mission. Whether if we stay here to guard or leave to search.
You stood there thinking to yourself on what you thought was the right thing. You knew that Salem's plan to obtain all 4 Relics was something that needed to be stopped. But you weren't sure if just expediently going after the other Relics and Maidens while the increase of Grimm had started was a good idea. Though, staying wasn't a good idea either.
(Y/N): "sighs" I guess I'm just thinking a little too deep into this. I mean, sitting around won't do much.
Ridley: Sir?
You were soon caught off from your thoughts and turned around to Ridley.
(Y/N): Y........yes.
Ridley: Are you alright? You seem very distraught.
(Y/N): It....... It's just this whole thing going on through my head at the moment. But it's passed now.
Ridley: Very well then. You should probably get going. Ruby and the others are already starting to meet with Ozpin at the front.
(Y/N): Right.
You were just about to walk off to the front, before Ridley placed his hand on your shoulder.
Ridley: I know how much you'll be worried about me and the soldiers staying here to protect the Relic. But We've been trained to fight to protect whoever and whatever it is to the very end no matter what.
(Y/N):.... I know.
You then looked to him directly.
(Y/N): And I believe in you and the soldiers' abilities to do whatever you can to protect the Relic of Knowledge. We're counting on you.
Ridley: Thank you, sir.
You soon walked to the front and saw the others there with, Ozpin, Qrow and Ghira standing near the very end.
Ozpin: Ah, (Y/N), just in time. We're just about ready to leave.
(Y/N): Lets just hope that we can get this over with and finally end the madness going on once and for all.
You said speaking under your breath.
Ozpin: Everyone, we're about to head out on our most important mission yet. The Relic of Choice has been taken and Salem is nearly just a few steps closer from changing all of Remnant forever. We must find all the 2 remaining Relics and the two other maidens to access the vaults to them. We must do this before Salem's forces reach them. I Know I'm asking a lot from you all. But can I trust you all in this task to ensure the future of Remnant?
The many people there complied with a yes or ey.
Qrow: Remember, it's just Grimm we'll be dealing with when we're out here. So be careful.
With that, the enormous group began to move and leave Haven. You sighed as you were still worried about what was ahead. As the large group was moving, on a far away cliff side, a certain Pin and Brown Hired Individual was looking over at the group with her umbrella over her head and a slight smirk on her face. As she was, a hooded Individual, much different from Salem's hooded Grimm, stood next to The girl and watched.
???: So it seems that they're beginning the hunt for the 2 remaining Relics. I guess we'll haft to get a move on then.
She then turned and walked away. Neo smirked still and started to walk away with the hooded figure as well.
A/N: The Hunt is Afoot.
