19. january || sheep boii for pringles

Okay dokay!

so.... this time around we've got a bit of a different situation here >w<
my mate, the overlord of pringles, is currently working on a larger project, including an array of characters.... and since he's absolitely amazing, he went ahead and asked around the artclub, if any of us fancied helping him out with designing some characters ^-^

the general idea is (as far as i understood jdkhsgdf.... pls correct me if i'm wrong) that the characters are something like ghosts... so dead people, still somehow being a part of society. now the character pringles needed were all based on animals, and.... i just couldn't say "no" to designing one for the sheep.

in addition to all that, these "ghosts" also bear a nightmare scar. this is essentially a black scar, that marks the wound that ended up taking the persons life.

now... when i sat down to design it all, i ... well... thought about sheep. sheep and goats both have horizontal pupils, so i definitely wanted to include those.
in addition to that, i didn't want this to end up being a super obvious "white, innocent lamb" depiction, since.... and let's be real here... sheep don't be like that.

yeah, quite an amount of sheep are fluffy and mainly white, but when we look at the average sheep on the farm... they're usually rather on the dirty side.
so i most certainly wanted the character to have a more textured, chaotic hairstyle, in a cream colour.
i also decided to give the character darker skin.... on the one hand because of contrast, on another because it really suited his facial features and most importantly: HAMPSHIRE DOWN SHEEP.

JUST.... LOOK AT them QwQ

that floof, that energy..... yep, that's what i wanted to somehow mimic with this character.

either way, i then slowly but surely came up with this character:
yellow eyes and horizontal pupils, beige/cream fluffy hair that hides parts of his face, warm toned, dark skin, with some paint freckles and last but not least: a nightmare scar over his eye, being hidden by his hair.

when thinking about it's origins i came up with some ideas... ultimately his eye was forcefully stabbed out. maybe it was a knife, maybe a pair of scissors. maybe he got involved into a gang-fight, maybe he just has parents that not only abuse him, but also various substances.
or maybe it was just a hella ugly accident... idk, maybe he tripped into a barb wire fence or a pitchfork...

yeah.... after i have now put a ton of ugly pictures in your head, let's move on to the clothing!

quite a lot of sheep have those tags on their ears... usually in yellow. i decided to mimic that in his necklace that he always wears. the colour scheme was obviously inspired by the environment of sheep and their different palettes.

overall he has comfy clothing, that is also durable and good for outdoor activities. the looks themselves are rather simple, not making him look fancy or special in any way, since the characters attempt to perfectly blend in with society.

other than that..... idk.... uh.... i guess here's the final design and reference sheet then >w<"

overall... tons of fun. drawing characters is amazing, especially when the basis is a rather "simple" prompt. i probably could've pushed the whole thing a bit further... adding a larger winter jacket in black, that has a floofy white lining inside, making the boots have some fur accents as well, but in the end... i think the simpler route was the better one.

complicated designs are the downfall of larger projects, simply since they need time and pull focus on them... not too sure if i'm too happy with the final colour choices though >w<

anyways! hope you like my/pringles' boii jeff! i most certainly had a shitload of fun designing this character and am insanely honoured to have become a part of pringles' project, in one way or another ^-^

so, until we hopefully read each other next time, take care of yourselves and maybe start a little convo in the comments >w<
