Chapter 7 - The Endless Mindwar
(Rawr. It is better now.)
Sephiroth's POV
I took a last glance at both the flower and Cocoa and sprinted out unfolding my wings and jumping when I got outside and flying over everywhere as a patrol type thing. Cocoa was... Something. She had built walls to keep others from getting to her insides. Her heart and soul. I knew she was heartbroken and hurt recently, which was why she put up walls. I was sitting at the volcano, watching the sun go down, with my wings on my back when I saw Cocoa hop up and stare over at the Snow Biome. I don't think she noticed I was here, but I was probably wrong. She hopped off down the volcano's side and into the Snow Biome, I had no idea what she was doing, but I didn't really care either.
Cocoa's POV
I found a ledge and sat down singing quietly so nobody would hear me or be disturbed by my singing voice. (which for the record, is beautiful but she thinks it's horrible) I sang Madrigal, a song that gave me comfort through my imprisonment in my fathers' den.
When the dragons grow too mighty, to slay with pen or sword,
I grow weary of the battle, and the storm I walk toward.
When all around is madness, and there's no safe port in view,
I long to turn my path homeward, to stop awhile with you.
When life becomes as barren and as cold as winter skies,
There's a beacon in the darkness, in a distant pair of eyes.
In vain to search for honor, and in vain to search for truth.
But these things can be given, your love has shown me proof.
I hummed the rest of the song softly and walking back to my bush in the Forest Biome. Maybe, I will find love someday... Nope. Just nope. But, come on! Everyone has a soulmate! Not you. You can think of loving anyone, and they won't love you back! But... I've run out of excuses. These were all thoughts running through my head. I would come up with one or two, then they would get shot down by facts. I made it to my bush, still coming up with excuses that died in the war of my brain. (yes my human brain is a war in real life.) I lied in my bush till I fell asleep. Then I had a dream. A whole showcase of them, actually.
~Dream Showcase~
First: I was standing in Mother's den, with my siblings' Stride, Earth, and Yang. Then my siblings ran outside to play, and Father walked in. Mother backed against the wall of the den and used magic to pull me under her. She growled at Father."Give me her. And you live. Resist, I kill you, and take her."Father told Mother, yet she still growled and said, "Never." Then Father went for the neck, and the dream ended.
Second: I was in Father's den this time, working on the daily chores. He scratched my flank, and I did nothing. I just turned around and lowered my head, "What should I do next, Father?"Was all I said, I knew what the answer would be hunting."You will hunt for me and my pack."He responded giving me an ear bite, which started bleeding. I ran out the door to a known spot for rabbits, these woods were full of them everywhere though. I caught extra, which I ate. I then buried the bones and ran home with my prizes for the four other wolves of Father's pack. Then that dream ended and began another.
Third: This time, I was in Hell. I immediately spotted the Devil, he was mainly red but had some black, and his tail had nothing on it. He had big wings too, that also made him hard to miss. I saw other wolves too, Father was here, but his black, white, green-eyed self, everyone else had black and red with red eyes. He was talking to the Devil, but I couldn't tell what he was saying, it was clear he did this often. I was sucked out of that dream and into another.
Four: I was up in what I assumed was Heaven off to the side, I was watching Sephiroth talk to the Gods, but I still couldn't catch all the words. I caught a few like 'remember' and 'send', but that was it. Then Sephiroth disappeared, and now I could hear what they were saying."Cocoa, come."I walked out in front of them."You aren't what you think."And I was sucked out of that dream.
Final: I wasn't anywhere anymore. I felt... Nowhere. I was nowhere. This is one of those dreams where you're in a big white space. Then it was like someone turned off the lights. It was dark, but another wolf was calling my name. But the voice was weirdly distorted, so I didn't know who it was. My conscience yelled he was my someone, which kickstarted the war again. I glanced away as there was a sort of glowing horizon and a wolf silhouette. I assumed it was a he because he was the deepish distorted voice calling my name. I couldn't speak, and suddenly I woke up.
~End Dream Showcase~
I woke up, it was about seven. I looked to my left to see the deepest part of the lake that was almost a river. To my right the mound where most other wolves socialized and found girlfriends or boyfriends and mates eventually. I turned around and saw Sephiroth in the homeless den. He was sleeping, his front paws were crossed and his head was resting on them. A light breeze from the north ruffled his fur. He's cool and different, and so many other words... Stop. He's probably not your 'one'. You wouldn't know. He's probably got a beautiful female. Not kids, but at least a beautiful female. The exact opposite of you. You haven't got a 'one', you can feel that way, but don't be surprised when all the males are taken and you're left with nobody. Nobody wants a useless and ugly female who can't do anything except screw up. Or who has no talents. Or who can't have love. Because she doesn't deserve it. She has to be beautiful, has personality, has talents, and the ability to be useful to people. You have none of those qualities! Better take a look at your forearms! Or anywhere! I looked down at my paws and arms after that long rant from the correct side of my conscience. I read all the true words. Worthless. Ugly. Talentless. Useless. Unlovable. The truest one was 'unloveable'.
