Jay's lips curved upwards as he saw veer and bani entering the restaurant. He walked towards them.

"Hello.... Mr. Singhaania..." Jay said while veer gave him a fake smile. "And hi bani... Hope you are doing well. It's been around a month or so since you came here. Right? "

"Yeah. But i order from here na. Trust me all my colleagues loved your food." Bani said.

"My pleasure" Jay bowed his head and looked at veer. Veer, who was admiring the duo , just looked away. Bani and Jay looked at each other.

"Please make your self comfortable. I will get back to you in a minute" Jay said to veer and bani and went back to kitchen.

"Veer... Chalo " Bani said and pulled him with her. They took a corner table. That was not a peak time. Since they decided to do an early lunch, they didn't have to book a table.

"Sweetheart... Aaj hum kya khayenge... Hmm..... Let's see today's special.. Dhabewale.... Oops... Jay.. " Veer called. Jay came to them shortly .

"What's today special? " Veer asked.

"Let me prepare something for you guys.... Today's special is not ready yet. Let me make something different for you. Just give me 30 minutes" Jay said and both nodded.

"Aaj koi jagda nhi kiya.... What happened? " Bani asked as Jay went back to kitchen.

"Kyunki.... Mujhe apni biwi ke saath waqt bitaana hain.... Ijaazat hain? "

"Cheesy mat ho..." Bani said slapping his hand which were above the table.

"Veer.... Main kuch poochoon? "Bani asked after a while as they were admiring the view after talking about random things.

"Haa... Poocho... Kya baat hain? "

"Agar main us din aise emotionally react nhi karti and tumhein chod ke jaane ka faisla nhi leti toh... Kya tum mere saath ab bhi waise hi behave kar rhe hote? " Bani asked. Veer sighed.

"Bani...... I.. I don't know . .. That day when you said that you want to leave me... I realized that I don't have time.... I realised that I should be quick enough. I knew that it would be difficult to live without you. Trust me bani.. Even when I shout and scream at you... Most of the time, I felt angry on myself for treating you like that. But.... But I felt indebted... I felt like I shouldn't be happy.... I don't deserve to be happy."

"What? "  Bani asked as she couldn't understand the meaning of his words.veer just sighed and leaned back. Bani knew it's something about his past. She didn't want to push him. She wanted him to open upto her when he is ready. She wanted to know everything but only and only from him. It's his story and she wanted to listen it only when he himself wants to share. Bani exhaled deeply.

"Woh chodo.... Let's not talk about all those things. Ek baat batao.. Jay ko hamare shadi main invite kyu nhi kiya? " Bani asked and veer laughed.

"Isko... Kyu bulaoon main? "

"Come on... He is the only friend jisko dekhe bina tumhheim chain  nhi milta... "

"Woh toh hain... Hamare shadi main... Main aaya woh hi badi baat hain.... I didn't want to marry anyone. You know... After all those things that happened... I didn't want a marriage. So.,. I didn't call anyone. Jay ko bhi nhi. Jay didn't even know about our marriage. Maine kisiko bhi nhi bataya tha and our marriage was a family function na.. Only with closed ones. " Veer said. Bani nodded.

"There comes Jay " Bani said. Veer turned to see him coming with a tray filled with food.

Jay kept the tray on table and removed the lid. It was Spanish chicken and prawn rice pilaf, garlic brown sugar chicken and fried rice.

"Hmm.... It looks yummy.  " Bani said giving Jay a nod of appreciation. Jay smiled and looked at veer.

"Looks nice" Veer said and tried some. As soon  as the food reached his mouth, his taste buds danced in joy. Unknowingly he said yumm. Jay gave him a surprised look.

"I mean,... It's not that bad. " Veer tried to cover up but failed miserably. To his luck, his phone rang. He would have cut the call if the situation was not like this, but now... He needed to attend it.

"Excuse me.. " Veer said and went a little away. Both Jay and bani laughed.

" Bani.... I don't know if I can talk casually with you. We don't know each other much. But I really want to tell you a few things.. Can I? " Jay asked.

"Jay... You give me that brotherly feeling. I have no problem with speaking casually with you. Feel free. " Bani said.

"Veer...may seem to be tough at times... But he is not that tough. He may act like he doesn't care but he do... No matter what... Please be with him. I am not sure if I am in a position to say all these to you... After aasta died.. I hadn't seen  him smiling genuinely for a while. Whenever he comes here, we fight like cat and mouse. It really comforts him. Don't think like we are doing this on purpose. Ladaayi ho hi jaata hain... Wait... Tum aasta ke bare main jaanti ho? "

"Tumhein kabhi insecurity ya dar  nhi laga? Tumhaari husband pehle kisi aur ka pyaar tha na"

Jay.... Jab mujhe pata hain ki veer ab mera hain phir kis baat ka insecurity hogi mujhein... Aasta uska pehla pyaar tha. Yhi sawaal tum mujhse ek saal pehle poochthe toh shayad main kuch aur jawaab deti Jay... Par ab... Mujhe pata hain ki veer kya hain... Kaisa hain...

Jay smiled listening to her. He was happy that his friend got a good life partner.

"Tum jaanna nhi chaahti ki aasta ke saath kya hua tha? "

"Chaahati hoon. Par kisi aur se nhi. Veer se... Jab woh mujhe bolna chaheta tab hi main sunoongi. "Bani said. Jay smiled.

" I am happy for veer. Really... I am " Jay said. Bani smiled at him. They saw veer coming back. Jay went away as he was getting a lil bit emotional after talking with bani.

"Ise kya hogya? " Veer asked.

"Hmm... Nothing. He is kinda busy... Khaana khaayein? " Bani asked. Veer nodded. They completed the food talking over random topics. As they were about to pay the bill, veer asked Jay to give some tamarind candies. Bani looked at veer. Veer smiled forwarding them to her. Bani took them . He had noticed that she likes to have tamarind candies after having chicken dishes. These small progressions were bliss . These small gestures made bani happy. Jay looked at them awkwardly as they were not breaking their eye lock. He wouldn't have minded if they were doing it anywhere else, people were staring at them as they were standing near the entrance.

"Guys..... " Jay called them breaking their eye lock. Both looked at Jay embarassed making Jay chuckle.

"Hope to see you guys soon... Again" Jay said while giving back the card. Veer nodded and walked towards the entrance. Then he turned and looked at Jay.

"What? " Jay asked.

"Friday night. 7 pm. Come to my house. Let's have dinner together" Veer said. Jay laughed.

"Was it supposed to be an invitation? " Jay asked.

"Even if you are not interested you don't have any choice but to come. See you " Veer said and looked at bani who was smiling. He took her hand in his and led her outside.

"Stupid" Jay muttered and got back to his work.
