Elarinya POV
I am now back at the Woodland-Realm in Mirkwood. We told Lady Galadriel what has happened and she, along with an army of Lothlorien elves to help with the war, has come to the Woodland-Realm. I have been taught to fight better, and I will be joining the battle. I will save my sister.
"Elarinya, it is time." Legolas says to me.
I stand up and follow him. Here we go, It's time for war.
Legolas's POV
We waited, there were many thousand elves both from the Woodland-Realm, Rivendell, and Lothlorien standing behind me, each dressed for war. I hope ten thousand elves will be enough to beat that scum and get Aerlinniel back, oh how I missed her! Her eyes, her sweet melodic voice. I still do not understand how she could love me, I had almost killed her, and driven her to leave the Realm with my harsh words.
I thought of her as we waited for Lithôniel's armies to arrive. I had heard he had seven thousand Uruk-Hai and a thousand elves and men by his side. The air was tense, and grey clouds covered the sky, I hope it doesn't rain, I dislike fighting in poor weather conditions. In the distance I hear the pounding of feet, this was it.
The calm before the storm.
The pounding got louder and louder until we finally saw Lithôniel's army. The things I had heard were right: there was a mix of elves men and orcs, the majority of the army was orcs. What surprised me most was who was leading the army. Lithôniel was there of course, but by his side was Aerlinniel. Her eyes are glazed over, and I can see she had been mistreated, there are deep bags under her eyes, her skin clung to her bones, and there are blue and purple blotches decorating her fragile frame.
She looks dead. Her hair is dirty and tangled, pulled back in a messy braid. What is wrong with her? I thought to myself. Then I remembered. The potion Mithrandir had been talking about. He must have given it to her. Lithoniel trotted back to the front of his legion, Aerlinniel close behind him. He shouted something in elvish and took her hand. Ice came shooting out of it, making a dome around them.
"So they discovered her power." Gandalf sighed, "If Lithoniel is controlling her, then who knows what she might do. Legolas if she tries to attack us we must fight her, and try and capture her, so that we might reverse her uncle's spell." He told me, concern written in his features. I nodded slightly.
"Someone fetch some fire." I heard Gandalf yell as I walked through the soldiers to where the catapult was, motioning for the guards to follow me with it, with the help of some soldiers we pushed it to the front of our ranks. I stole one last glance at Aerlinniel, mesmerized by her beauty, despite her injuries and poor health, before returning my attention to the catapult.
It was now loaded with the largest projectile we had, a stone boulder, and the soldiers were waiting for my command. I took a deep breath and gave the order, and watched as the boulder flew through the air, hoping and praying that it didn't hit Aerlinniel. A few moments later the shattering of ice could be heard, as well as some screams of the unfortunate soldiers who happened to be in the way of the boulder's trajectory. I thanked the Valar when I saw the familiar head of blonde hair standing at the front of the army.
As soon as the ice broke both armies ran at each other. It was a melee of elves, men and orcs. I went for the men first, because orcs were easy to kill and I wanted to let the rest of the army have some fun. The hardest to fight would be the elves, as they were as well if not better at combat than our army, hopefully our increased numbers would be enough to hold them off.
I loaded two arrows on my bow and watched them fly into the necks of two soldiers. Retrieving my bloodied arrows, I threw a dagger behind me, the cry of pain like music to my ears. I pulled my dagger out of the twitching body of the man, and sunk it into his chest, for good measure. I fought with only one thought in my head, Aerlinniel. I prayed to the Valar she wouldn't be hurt.
As I battled with an Orc I caught a glimpse of Elarinya struggling to fend off at least three orcs. I slid under the orcs legs, slicing it's hamstrings before cutting it's throat open, leaving the filth spitting blood and writhing on the floor. I ran to Elarinya, slashing through men and orcs to help her. When I finally got there she gave me a thankful smile before returning her attention to the orcs.
For every one we killed five more seemed to take it's place. I fought back to back with Elarinya, slowly depleting the numbers of Lithôniel's army. Looking around me I saw more of our legions then his, which gave me hope. Killing off the orcs was easy, but as I had predicted the elves were hard to beat. I found myself in a brutal duel with one. This elf was very skilled and well trained.
We parried for what seemed like hours when he suddenly dashed forwards, taking me by surprise and disarming me. I instantly took out my twin swords and blocked what was almost a mortal blow. I moved to slash his stomach, and he blocked it, giving me access to his throat. I quickly threw one of my swords at his throat, but not before he had slashed my cheek, leaving a deep gash. As he fell down to the ground, gurgling and spitting out blood, I pulled out my bloodied weapon, wiping it on the cloth beneath his armor.
Quickly cleaning my cheek of blood with my sleeve, I ran back into battle fighting the men, who were more skilled then they looked, but still easier to kill than elves. The downfall of men in battle is that they're very loud, I could hear their deep breaths and clumsy footfalls. As I was removing my weapon from the chest of the putrid flesh of an Orc that tried to attack me; I hear a bloodcurdling shriek and then the sound of a body hitting the ground.
