chapter one!
season 1, episode 1 - summer house (pt.1)!
FOR AS LONG AS MIA could remember, summer at Cousins Beach was the only thing that mattered. Not fall, winter, or even spring. Summer was the cool breeze in her face, the smell of chlorine, and ice cream stains.
But her favorite part of all was the debutante ball. The girl would often hear stories from her parents and Susannah. She had always dreamed of being escorted by a handsome guy like the princesses in fairy tales her mother would read to her.
Her and her brother were never really allowed to attend because they were too young. Now 16 and 15 years of age, it would finally be their turn.
Mia was in her room, watching Enchanted for the 100th time with Olivia and Kiara. The scene playing was when Giselle and Prince Edward attended the New York ball, Robert looking at Giselle in awe.
Every summer, the three girls would watch romance movies or read books and gush over the chemistry between certain characters. Mia often wished that boys from her favorite books or television series could come to life so she wouldn't have to chase after boys who weren't as wonderful as them.
Jeremiah Fisher, however, was more than wonderful. He was flirty yet playful, kind yet serious at times, and funny. He was too good to be true. She liked him for 6 summers and hoped her feelings would go away. It's like the curly blonde charmed her with his beautiful blue eyes and infectious laugh, making her fall even more.
She knew the boy saw her as a friend. Nothing more, nothing less. But this summer would be different. It would be Jeremiah's turn to swoon over her.
"Mia, your missing the best part!" Olivia exclaimed, breaking her out of her thoughts.
The three girls squealed with excitement when Giselle danced with Robert. It was like they were the only two people in the room, everyone else invisible in their eyes.
Kiara noticed that something was bothering her friend, tempted to find out what.
TIME PASSED AND soon enough, the movie was over. Cheers and giggles filled the room as Mia turned off the TV. "Its official. I need a man like Robert."
Olivia and Kiara nodded in agreement. Mia's younger brother, Alex, barged in holding bowls of fruit in his arms. "Hi, Mia. Mom wanted me to give you guys some snacks."
The three girls each grabbed a bowl, thanking the boy before sitting on the bed. He took a few grapes from his sister before leaving the room with the door halfway open.
As they devoured the sweet fruit, Olivia was texting Alan. She absentmindedly smiled at the screen which made her two friends give each other a look.
"What are you doing?" Kiara asked. "And why are you smiling?" Mia chimed in.
"Alan sent me the funniest text ever. It's this inside joke that we have and if I tried to explain it, you guys wouldn't get it."
Curious, the two girls moved closer to get a better look at the phone. Olivia was right. They didn't understand a word Alan had said.
Hours later, Mia and her friends were ready to go over to the Fishers' house. The only downside was that Alex had to tag along.
Olivia and Alex were sitting in the backseat, singing 'You Belong With Me' by Taylor Swift as it blasted on the radio. Kiara was rather amused by the duo's terrible singing.
"How are you guys feeling?" she asked.
"I can't wait to see Mrs. Fisher! And to see the boys again!" Mia exclaimed. "We all know you're excited to see you know who." Olivia teased, making the girl's cheeks burn up.
Olivia, Kiara, and Alan (even Alex) knew about the girl's lingering crush on Jeremiah. They weren't surprised when she told them about it since they could tell. The only person who didn't know was the boy himself.
They tried to persuade her to confess but she wanted to be sure that he liked her too. Hoping that he would blush every time he saw her, act shy around her, or look at her in awe. But what she didn't know is that he already had his eyes set on someone else.
MIA'S CAR PULLED up to the place that she loved. The four kids got out of the car, noticing Susannah walking outside with Jeremiah and Conrad. Jeremiah wore a wide grin as he ran up to his best friend and hugged her.
"Mia! You made it! How have you been?"
"I've been good. I was going to surprise you but you beat me to it." Mia answered as she tried to ignore the butterflies in her stomach.
"Are you done now?" a brunette asked.
"Connie! Hi!" she exclaimed as she let go of Jeremiah and hugged his brother.
Conrad was always close to the girl, believe it or not. He could talk to her about anything and she'd do the same. Underneath his cold demeanor was a soft person who cared about her.
"Conrad! Where did you go?" an annoyingly familiar voice stated.
Mia quickly stopped hugging her friend, realizing that the Conklins were already here.
Including Belly.
Maya Speaks 💫:
Sorry guys, I had to do Belly like that 😭 I love her I swear (no seriously she's my girl)
