chapter eleven!

season 1, episode 6 - summer tides!

IT WAS THE DAY OF THE CHARITY EVENT AND MIA COULDN'T BE MORE DREADFUL than ever. She hated playing sports but she had to since it was for a good cause. "Who is excited to play volleyball?" Kiara asked in a sing - songy voice, face-timing Mia, Olivia, and Alan.

"You don't play, remember Kia? You were a deb last year." Olivia stated, causing the girl to roll her eyes. "I know that, Liv. I was talking about you and Mia."

"If I get hit with the ball, I'm quitting." Mia stated, causing her friends to laugh. "Relax, M. You'll be fine."

"Easy for you to say! Your not going to have to play against Belly and Taylor!" Kiara giggled, earning an eye roll from Mia. Olivia chimed in, "Does it look like I play volleyball? The last time I tried to play dodgeball in gym, I ended up getting hit in the head."

"I remember that. You used a lot of words that day." Alan stated, shuddering in fear. "Well, Molly Peterson deserved it. She's such a b-"

"Liv, language." Kiara stated. "What? You have to agree that she's a bitch. I think she's with Brody just because she knew that Mia liked him."

"I mean, I did like him but its not like I had a chance with him. Other girls could've gone for him but they were also beat to it by Molly."

"Lets just stop talking about her, alright? Look, you two are going to be great. Plus, me and Alan are going to be there to support you."

"Yeah. We even made t-shirts to prove it." The shirts said 'Go Fantastic Four' on them, Kiara's being a baby tee and Alan's being a tank top. "Those look so cute!"

"I definitely will be wearing one after today." The kids quickly said goodbye, ending the call. Mia then begrudgingly open her texts, sighing at the name on her screen.

IT WAS FINALLY TIME FOR THE TOURNAMENT AND MIA WAS nervous. She saw the other teams and were they good. She wasn't really thrilled about having to play against Taylor, considering the fact that she was such a pain in her ass.

But may the best win.

Mia and Olivia had won the first round surprisingly, earning a few cheers from their friends. Sam and Alex were watching, only for Sam to be wearing a bored expression. "They won!" Alex exclaimed, clapping. "Its only the first round, dude. Who knows if they'll win the next?"

"Just have some faith, Sam. Would it kill you to have some positivity?"

"Yes. Its not my thing."

"Of course it isn't."

"Are you challenging me, Alex?"

"Maybe I am. And what are you going to do about it?"

"Guys, keep it down. We're trying to focus on the game."

"Sorry."

"I'm not." Sam earned a glare from Kiara, causing the boy to put his hands up in surrender.

Long story short, Mia and Olivia won the next few rounds. They were going against Belly and Taylor and boy were they good. As they served and spiked the ball, Mia couldn't help but glance at Cam. He looked kind of cute when he smiled... wait, why was she noticing that? Focus on the game!

It ended with Belly and Taylor winning but Mia didn't really mind. Money would still be donated to the charity she was working with which she was happy about. "You guys did great!" Kiara beamed, indulging the two girls in a hug. "Thanks, Kia." Mia and Olivia stated as they returned the gesture.

Angelina nodded her head, "It was pretty cool watching you girls play. Are you on the volleyball team?"

"Oh, absolutely not."

"Nope."

The kids went to get ice cream after the tournament to cool themselves from the heat. As they ate their frozen treats, Alex smiled. "So are you finally starting to like it here at Cousins?"

"I guess. I mean, at first, its not like I asked to be here. But its nice, I guess."

"Would you want to come back next year?"

"I'm not sure. I still need to find that skate park you told me about."

"Maybe when you come back next year, I'll take you there."

"Maybe." The two stared at Cam and Mia in the distance, seeing them bicker as usual. Except this time, it wasn't as hostile as before. "I think the bet is working in my favor." Alex stated.

"Yeah, right. We still have another week to see which one of them falls first."

"I hope you got enough money because I like my steaks well done."

"Who said I was taking you to a steakhouse?"

"Me, if I win."

"Keep dreaming, Alex."

It seemed like one of them might win the bet after all.
