I sighed as I woke up, the pain in the back of my head never fading. I looked around, finding myself in a room unknown to me. I was in a bed that was unusually purple. And I dont know why but I felt... floaty? I pulled the covers off of me and stood up. I was already clothed, so I didn't need to worry about that.
I made my way to the door before opening it. Almost immediately I could smell eggs, bacon, and toast. I could also hear the strumming of a guitar. I stumbled my way to the smell, a passing glance through a window telling me that I was on a boat.
I stumbled past two empty bedrooms before finally entering a livingroom/kitchen area. On the couch was Juleka and a blue haired girl. In the kitchen was Anarka, Juleka's mom. I stepped forward, the floorboard beneath that foot sqeaking loudly, making everything stop, and everyone to look at me.
I tried to wave, only to stop and hold the back of my head as a sudden surge of pain came forth. "Easy lad!" I heard Anarka say as I removed my hands, the pain subsiding. Immediately she was trying to guide me to the couch. "Sit down lad. You're not quite ready to stay standing." She explained.
I simply nodded as I took a seat. I used a hand to slowly do a geasture around the room. "You're on the Liberty. Nicole's sailing the seas in the Ishimura, so she's given me temporary custody since you're hurt." Anarka explained as she started walking away. "Breakfast's is almost ready. Just give me a minute."
"Are you ok, Y/n?" Juleka asked as she sat next to me. I shook my head. "Figures. Your melody is like when I tried the flute for the first time." The blue haired girl said, putting her guitar down. I tilked my head. "Y/n, this is Luka, my sister. The one I told you about." Juleka explained.
I nodded once again. "Yeah, Juleka told me about you too. You know, you might want to thank her for giving you her bed while you were unconscious. And maybe give it back. I'm tired of sharing mine." Luka explained, a hint of amusement in her eyes. I turned to Juleka, who's face was slightly red, and gave a thumbs up.
"Alright you scally wags, breakfast is ready." Anarka said, passing plates of foor before standing back up straight. "Oh, and before I forget, Nicole wanted me to give you something." She then walked off. I gave a thumbs up as I started eating. The food was good. I was done is less than a minute.
"Fast eater huh? Then again, so would I if I didn't eat in a week." Luka joke. I immediately turned the upper half of my body to her, suprise on my face. "Slow down! You're gonna pull something!" Juleka warned me in panic. "Don't worry about missing anything. Juleka brought copies of her notes." Luka explained.
I nodded as I held my empty plate in my lap. I turned to Juleka, mouthing 'What Happened'. "After the bag fell on you, you hit your head on the ground hard. The doctor said that a part of your skull cracked. We expected you to be asleep for another week." Juleka explained.
I nodded slowly as I processed the information. I woke up prematurely? Guess that means I healed faster than I thought. Still though, at least I have Juleka's family to thank for taking care of me. Wonder how I can repay them?
"I'm back." Anarka announced, making me return to reality. In her hands was a long peice of machine, with a collar and waist strap. "Come here, I need to put it on." She said. I got up and approached her. She turned me around and placed the tech on my back. I adjusted the collar part to my liking, then the waist part.
I could feel Anarka tap it before a sound came from it. "There we go. It's part of the RIG systems your mom's ship is testing out." Anarka explained. I tried to turn me head to see it, but couldn't. "Dont worry about how it looks. It's basicly just a health bar thing we can use to get a look at ya."
I stretched with it on, only to hold my head in pain again. "Dammit boy, you got Clark in ya too much. But at least the RIG's working. Seven bars and you're down one. Must be the head injury. I'm sure Juleka would love to help you get to school. Just let her know when you need something. I'll be by to pick you and her up after school." Anarka explained.
I turned and gave her a thumbs up. Apparently Juleka and Luka had left to get their stuff since they walked into the room again, this time with backpacks. "Come on Y/n, lets go." Juleka said, taking hold of my arm to lead me to the upper deck.
It was going to be a weird few weeks.
(856 Words. I wanted to set a small introduction of your knowledge of RIG systems and how some gear would work by introducing it slowly. Then when we get to the meatbath that's the Ishimura, I dont need to explain everything. Except the explaining done by other characters.)
