Chapter Five

When Barry came around for what must have been the third and final time, he blinked up at the bright lights overhead. He took a deep breath and looked around the medical room he was in. There were flickers of memory flashing inside his head and he remembered being shot three times by Len's father. He remembered the cold that spread through his body when Len used the cold gun to stop the bleeding.

"Sorry Scarlett."

Barry closed his eyes for a few moments before he sat up, hands going to his midsection on pure instinct alone. His fingers ran over nothing but smooth skin; the wounds were gone. He was fully healed. Opening his eyes, Barry threw his legs over the edge of the bed. He needed to know if Len and the others were okay as well as what happened with Lewis Snart. Standing up, he left the room in search of his team. Upon approaching the cortex, Barry heard voices steadily rising from inside the room.

"It happened and that's the end of it!" Snart's--Len's, voice filtered out through the open doorway. "I made my choice and there's no going back but I did it for Lisa and for him. Lewis would never have left him alone, not after this."

"As an officer I have to arrest you." Joe's voice was firm but soft, as if he was apologetic about something. "But as a member of team Flash, I--"

Barry, far beyond confused, decided to walk into the cortex at that moment, his words cutting Joe off mid-sentence. "Hey, what's going on?"

The greeting he got wasn't what he expected and only made him more confused. Cisco and Caitlin were standing side-by-side frowns on their faces as they listened to Joe and Snart argue, Iris stood a little off to the side her face passive and Oliver watched the argument with his arms crossed, his face blank. When he entered the room and spoke, everyone turned to look at him and the atmosphere dropped to about zero. Barry waited for an answer, glancing at Snart.

"Barry, how are you feeling?" Caitlin asked gently.

He knew the question was genuine but it was also being used to deflect his own question. She was probably hoping to get him sidetracked but he decided to humor her and give her an answer. "I feel fine," he said. "But seriously, what's going on?"

Oliver was the first to speak. "Snart killed his father."

Despite Barry's 'no killing' complex, he found that he wasn't as upset with Snart as he thought he would have been. If he was being honest, he was glad the man was gone. Even if gone meant he was dead. After all the things Lewis Snart has done, to Len and Lisa and anyone else, he deserved it. It would be a lie to say the man didn't have it coming.

"I had to." Snart spoke, his voice was almost pleading and Barry realized that he was trying to get him to see that there really was no other way. He was pleading with him to understand.

"I know." Barry said. His response shocked the others and they watched him with gobbsmacked faces as he moved forward. "I'm not mad and I think Snart should get a pass on this."

"Barry--" Joe started.

"Joe," Barry looked at him, his hazel eyes holding a confidence in them that wasn't there before. "Lewis Snart was a menace to everyone. He tried to kill me and even if he went to prison, he'd just escape again. Did he put the gun down when you told him to?"

Joe shook his head, sighing. "He took aim on Snart instead."

"Then it was self-defense." Barry looked at his friends. "Would any of you have done anything different in his position?"

The question was immediately met with a chorus of 'no's' and Barry took a deep breath before exhaling slowly. He carded his fingers through his hair and nodded, turning to say something else when the police scanner connected to Cisco's computer crackled to life and a voice came through.

"Dispatch to Engine 40, apartment fire on Rosewood Avenue, multiple people trapped inside."

"Engine 40 to dispatch, we're on our way."

Barry shot a look at Cisco before speeding into his suit and out the door, heading to the apartment fire without another word.

Twenty minutes later, Barry finished getting all of the civilians who were still trapped inside the burning building outside and to safety before he sped back to STAR Labs. He strolled into the cortex with a smile on his face and high fived Cisco on a job well-done, feeling ecstatic. The thrill he always got using his speed was welcomed and much appreciated and it was amazing.

Iris and Joe had gone home already and Snart had left too, probably not taking any chances with staying longer than he was welcome. Cisco was sitting at his computer monitors and Caitlin was in her lab, most likely running tests on blood samples she'd taken from him earlier that day. Which left Oliver, standing alone in the winding corridor, waiting for Barry to walk out.

Of course when he did, he was startled when he saw the billionaire just standing there. Barry admitted that only Oliver Queen could make casual attire look like proffesional modeling attire. Raising a hand to his chest, right over his racing heart, Barry said accusingly,

"Do you always lurk in dark corridors to give people heart attacks?!"

Oliver smiled at him and Barry felt his heart stutter at the sight. It was a pure, genuine smile and it was directed at him. "No. It's just you."

Barry tilted his head, placing his hands on his hips. "Just me, huh?"

Pushing himself off the wall, Oliver nodded. "I've been waiting here since you left. I wanted to ask you something."

"Go ahead." Barry told him.

"Well, I wanted to know if you wanted to go to the cinema with me."

The question was more of a statement and Barry felt inclined to agree to go. Of course the usual things spiraled through his mind, 'is he asking me on a date?' and 'does he like me' followed by, 'wow, how come I'm only just seeing how hot he is'. Barry found himself staring into his eyes and for some strange reason he couldn't look away. When he came back to his senses, he stammered out,

"Y-yeah, I'd like to go! T-that sounds like fun!" Barry mentally slapped himself thinking, Way to play it cool, idiot.

"Good." Oliver says, as if no wasn't an option for Barry to say. "Let's go."

The movie just ended and Barry was having a difficult time keeping still; he blamed it on all of the pop and candy he had. Initially, he offered to buy the snacks since Oliver was paying for the movie tickets but the vigilante insisted on paying for everything. Honestly, Barry thought it was sweet and enjoyed being spoiled like a kid while he could. During the movie, Oliver had brushed his leg up against his own and at some point had put his arm over the back of Barry's chair. He had been close enough that Barry could smell the expensive cologne radiating off of him. It hadn't been a bad smell; it was pleasant and helped keep Barry grounded when he got scared.

Now, they were walking out of the theatre and making their way down the hall toward the exit. Barry couldn't stop laughing at Oliver as he recounted the face he made when the alien jumped out and snatched the woman into the shadows at the end of the movie. Even though he had screamed at the scene, he still found it funny that even Oliver got scared. Once they were outside, they started the long walk back to the CSI's house. Barry caught Oliver staring at him a few times but shrugged it off as normal. However, when the staring intensified he frowned and stopped walking.

"Have I got something on my face?" Barry asked.

Oliver, seeming to realize he'd gotten caught staring, scanned his face and found that there was indeed something on his face. Barry didn't move when he stepped closer and reached out, using the pad of his thumb to wipe whatever was on his face. Barry stood in place, his eyes on the man in front of him, unwavering. Oliver's hand remained on his face and Barry felt his heart begin to race. He was so close and he was touching his face.

Barry, unable to endure the closeness of the billionaire vigilante any longer, awkwardly said, "Uh, Ollie? C-can you step back, please?"

Oliver continued staring at him and didn't move his hand. Barry didn't think he even heard him. He tried to duck away from the intense stare, suddenly feeling self-conscious. Why was Oliver being so weird?

"Oliver, seriously can you--"

Barry was silenced by a pair of lips on his. Oliver had leaned in and kissed him. Oliver Queen was kissing him! Barry was frozen on the spot, his brain overloading and his eyes blown wide with shock and disbelief. He didn't know what to do and for once his mind was completely blank. Barry's brain was dead in the water and if he were a robot, 'brain does not commute', would be the words repeating themselves over and over again inside his head.

It took more than a few moments for Barry's brain to start working again and once it did, his limbs acted on their own. He raised his arms and placed his hands on Oliver's chest, pushing him away and ending the one-sided kiss. Barry's eyes were still wide but filled with disbelief and this time, confusion. He was unsure of what to do or say. He didn't know what just happened or why Oliver just kissed him and he felt panic rising as he stood there facing him.

"I-I'm sorry. I-I have-have to go." Barry stammered and ran. He didn't run at normal speed. When he ran, he ran.

A/N: Hey my Olivarry shippers! Didn't think it'd be that easy did ya?

Anyways, sorry for the long wait but I hope this chapter makes up for it! Hope you enjoyed!
