Rescue

"Bebe!" I ran into the room where Pierre told me Bebe was. I barged in there like a firefighter going into a house on fire.

There was Bebe in a dark room, cuffed on a metal slate; her head was slumped down, showing how long her black hair was.

"BEBE!!!" I slid over to her and began to shake her frantically. "Bebe, Bebe, are you okay?! Answer me!"

Bebe slowly lifted up her head. "Toosk?" she says weakly.

I pulled her into a huge bear hug. "Bebe!" I bit my lip, trying to hold back the feelings that were starting to overwhelm me.

"I missed you," Bebe told me sweetly.

I broke the hug and gazed into her eyes. "I'm so so so sorry for what I had done. I was stupid, I didn't know what I was doing--"

"Toosk, it's okay. I forgive you," she told me softly, yet meaningfully.

A smile grew on my face. "Really?"

"Yes. Let's start clean, okay?"

I nodded my head vigorously. "Yes, yes! Thank you." Then I leaned in and kissed her. It felt good to be back with her. Back to normal...

Bebe kindly pulled away from me. "We gotta get going. We can do this later."

"Right." I yanked the cuffs off with my magnetic powers, freeing Bebe. I helped her up to her feet, then said, "Let's get outta here."

"Wait!" Bebe held onto my wrist. She said more quietly, "A friend of yours is here."

I gave her a bewildered look. "Who?"

"Cole."

"Cole Lannon?"

"Yes. He's over in the next room." She nodded toward the direction of the room.

"Come with me, then." I led Bebe out of the room and into the hallway.

Next to the room we just exited was another door; we ran in that room the door was concealing.

Sure enough, there was Cole in the same position I found Bebe in, but he wasn't slumping.

Not one bit.

He was practically on fire: His skin was glowing a fiery orange and his eyes were no longer blue, but full of fire. It looked like that some type of powers were being shoved into him, since there were tubes connected to him and he was yelling in agony.

"Cole!" I shouted. I letted go of Bebe and rushed up to him. I reached my hand out toward him to help him escape, but--

"DON'T TOUCH ME!!!" he yelled over the roaring of the fire.

I halted in place. "But--!"

"NO! GO!"

I began to move my hand closer to him, immediately feeling the heat waves emitting from him. "Don't worry, I won't get hurt--!"

"JUST...GO!" Cole forced out just as he squeezed his eyes tight in agony.

I took in a deep breath and decided to do my best to set him free. I snatched a hanging tube that was closest to me, but couldn't hold it for long.

"Achk!" My hand immediately retracted once on contact due to the extreme scorching heat.

"LEAVE ME!" I heard Cole bark at me; I turned to him. "I'LL..." His voice calmed down. "I'll be fine..." He looked at me with a reassuring look along with bared teeth.

I gazed at him with doubt. "You sure?"

"ACK!" He shut his eyes tight again. "YES!"

"Okay." I nodded my head, then ran back to Bebe. "Let's go." I took one last sympathetic look at Cole, then exited the room with her.

"So are we going home now?" Bebe asked me while we were jogging down the white hallway.

"What home?" I inquired with lowered eyebrows.

"Oh my, I forgot it got burned down." She ran her fingers through her hair. "Ugh."

"But before we leave," I began to tell her. "I have a few friends here that I can't leave behind."

"Oh, so you made some friends during my absence? I see what you're doing now--"

"Bebe..." I shot her a glare.

Bebe smiled at me. "I'm only messing with you, Toosk-- Don't take things so seriously."

I chuckled. "Don't worry, it's--" I got hit by a blast of water, drowning my sentence abruptly. With the sudden impact of the water, I was tossed onto the ground.

"Toosk!" I heard Bebe yelped.

I knew exactly who hit me with the water: Andrew.

"Go, Bebe, go!" I gasped, laying on my stomach in a puddle of water. "Find a boat and get it rea--" I got sprayed again. Where the heck is that guy?

I heard Bebe's footsteps echoing off rapidly, so I perked up to make sure she was having a clean getaway. But I also spotted Andrew, who was ready to lasso her with his ribbon of water from behind her.

NO! my mind screamed.

Before I was able to get up, a blast of white energy with a hint of purple hit Andrew square on his back. He was thrusted forward, ultimately slamming onto the ground.

Bebe halted in her running and turned around to see what just happened.

"GO!" I commanded her to do, wanting her to leave before anything else bad happens to her.

Bebe nodded, turned around, and ran out until she was out of my sight.

With a groan, I gradually got up and turned around. There, I saw Wayne, who was looking down at Andrew.

"Is he out?" he asked me with a strain tone. His head was still kept down.

I scrutinized Andrew from above, thinking of a legit answer based on his motionless composure. "I believe so, but let's not get too confident about that." I extended my hand at Andrew, sensing a magnetic part on him. With that, I dragged him over to a nearby, vacant room, placed him in there, and locked it.

I walked back over to Wayne; I peered at his face, noticing that it was quite tear-stained. "Are you okay?" he asked him gently.

He slowly turned to face me; he then bit his lip and nodded his head worriedly, but did not say a word.

I knitted my eyebrows with suspicion. "Wayne, what happened? I'm not blind, you were crying."

His eyes got wide, filled with fear. "I-I-I got caught!" he cried as his eyes immediately got glassy. "Pierre found me, and beat the living daylights outta me!"

"So?"

"SO?!" he snapped. All you just say is 'so‽'" He quickly turned his back on me with crossed arms.

My eyes widened at the sight of his back. "Wh-what happened to your wings?"

All there was were two white, blood-tipped stems coming from Pekka's back.

"Pierre ripped them off," Wayne told me with a sob-filled voice. "I'm now his enemy." He let out a shuddered sigh. "I'm over it"--He faced me--"Let's grab Erik."

I nodded my head, trying to rub that image of his wings out from my head. "Good. You know where he's at?"

Wayne shook his head with a clenched jaw.

"Alright then, let's look for him."

I led him down the hallway, away from the exit of the building. We went down a straight-a-way, then made a turn. At the turn, we found Lace close by. He had an extremely focused facial expression, looming down at Lance. Lance on the other hand was laying on his back, unconscious. .

"Lace!" I shouted, rushing up to him. "What happened with guard duty?! You failed!"

"Shhh--!" Lace snappily pointed his index finger up in the air, signalling me to stop talking. His other hand was on his head. "I'm on to something," he starts with a determined tone, not moving his eyes away from Lance. "I can save your friend, Mjalmersson."

My eyes widen with hope. "Really?"

"Yes... Just...wait..." His voice got weaker as he spoke.

We stood there for a few moments in silence.

Then Lace just collapsed right next to Lance. Just like that.

"Erik!" I yelled. I slid down to him on my knees. I stared at his unresponsive face then shook his arm. "Lace, what happened?! Wake up! Wake up!"

"Toosk," I heard Wayne call out from behind me.

"Lace! Leifsson!" I continued shouting to Lace, ignoring Wayne.

"Toosk, we got to go," Wayne says, his voice becoming more serious.

I snapped my head behind my shoulder to look at him. "Not without Lace."

"Pierre's coming," he hissed with wide eyes.

"Pierre can wait--"

"We got to leave him--"

"We can't leave Lace be--"

Wayne interrupted my sentence by grabbing my arm and pulling me up. "Look." He forced my head to turn right.

There was Pierre's shadow on the wall in a hallway across from us.

"Shoot, let's go." I began to run toward the exit of the building with Wayne by me.

I then spotted light beams speeding dangerously past by us. Pierre.

I turned around sharply and looking straight into Pierre's ardent eyes. I then extended my gun-hand out at him, one of the powers he gave me, and pushed him back with its powerful blasts. Thanks..., bro.

And we got away. Just one man short.
