CHAPTER ONE, big time auditions (part one)
Andi was starting to regret taking a job at Rocque Records as an intern. Sure, it was an opportunity of a lifetime to work with the world's best and most famous artists, and she had been elated when she had gotten the offer. But being an intern wasn't all that great. Most of her day was spent getting coffee and running errands, and there was the occasional chore or menial task. She even got paid for some of them which was nice. It was an actual paycheck, but she felt like she could be doing more. And she wasn't even an intern for one of the artists.
She worked directly for Gustavo Rocque, the founder of the record label, and that could be both a blessing and a curse. She enjoyed working with the man because he was funny, charismatic, and larger than life. But he was also eccentric and a bit of a diva. Plus he could be demanding and hard to work for, so some days she felt like this intern job was a curse. And today was definitely one of those days, the ones where she was regretting taking this job and questioning if it was worth it.
"Do you really think we're gonna find the next big hit, here? Minnesota of all places?" Andi questions, her voice filled with doubt and annoyance. She glances around at all the snow on the ground with a frown as she looks out the window of the limo. "Mom, there's snow on the ground. It's not even winter!" She said with surprise.
Kelly chuckles lightly and sends her a sympathetic look. "That's normal for Minnesota. It's almost always snowy." She shakes her head. "And I got to take you out more, it's like you only ever been to LA." She spoke in a slightly teasing tone as she glanced at Andi.
Andi gave her an annoyed look. "I have only ever been to LA." She grumbled under her breath. It was the truth. She never been out of LA before. Sure, she had always wanted to travel, but with her busy schedule and limited budget, it just never happened.
Kelly chuckles nervously, looking out the window. "Right, well. Now you've been to Minnesota and LA." She shrugged, trying to make light of the situation.
"Oh, joy," Andi says sarcastically, rolling her eyes. She leans back in her seat, crossing her arms. "Because one of the coldest places was definitely on my bucket list." She retorted in a grumpy tone.
"Andi, just give it a chance." Kelly says softly. "Who knows, you might actually like it here."
"Fat chance," Andi muttered, shaking her head. She sighed heavily, resting her chin on her hand as she continues to stare out the window. She feels a mix of frustration and resignation. This trip to Minnesota was supposed to be about finding new talent for Rocque Records, but Andi couldn't shake her skepticism about the location. Kelly glanced over at her daughter, noticing she seemed unimpressed by the scenery passing by, lost in her thoughts.
Kelly sighs, understanding her daughter's frustration but also hoping she'll come to appreciate the opportunity. "Andi, I know this isn't what you expected, but sometimes the most unexpected places hold the greatest surprises. Just keep an open mind, okay?" She said softly, giving her a gentle nudge.
Andi let out a deep breath, knowing Kelly was right. "Yeah, okay." She gave in, offering a small smile.
Kelly smiles back, wrapping her arm around Andi's shoulder, pulling her into her side. "That's my girl." She whispered, kissing the top of her head. Andi smiled a little and leaned into her mother's embrace. She may not be happy with the circumstances, but at least she was here with hr mom. That made it a little bit better.
The limo soon pulled up to the arena, the driver letting them know they've arrived. Andi then steps out of the limo after her mom and Gustavo got out. She immediately felt the cold chill of the Minnesota air, her breath visible as it escapes her lips. She even stepped in snow as she got out of the limo and she was thankful she wore boots. The loud cheering caught her attention and she noticed fans standing behind a barricade near the front of the large building, holding up signs and trying to get Gustavo's attention. Andi looked on, surprised by the sheer number of people and how excited they seemed. She hadn't been expecting that. She figured it would just be a few people, but there were easily hundreds of them.
"Where am I and why am I freezing?" Gustavo angrily asked, glancing around with furrowed eyebrows.
"Did you not hear what we were talking about?" Andi murmured, staring at him with confusion and annoyance. She was wondering how he hadn't heard anything since they were in a small, confined space.
"Of course I heard what you were talking about! You were complaining about the cold." Gustavo rolls his eyes. "I'm not deaf." He exclaimed, waving a dismissive hand at her.
Andi narrows her eyes. "Well, maybe if you'd pay attention, you would remember we were coming to Minnesota." She snapped. She ignored the look from her mom and continued, "You know, to find new talent. That is what we were sent here to do, isn't it?" She asked, crossing her arms.
Gustavo glares at her, but he doesn't say anything. Andi never understood their relationship. They would bicker and argue, but he never yelled at her. Maybe it was because her mom was his assistant or maybe it was because he genuinely cared about her. Either way, she was honestly grateful she hadn't gotten fired yet. Gustavo then turns and glances at the fans as if just realizing they were there. He smiles at them and waves as he calls out, "What's up, Minnesota?" In response the cheers got louder, the fans waving back and shouting excitedly.
Andi rolls her eyes at him, muttering under her breath. "Show off."
"Don't be jealous, Andi. I have this effect on people." Gustavo smirked, glancing at her briefly.
Andi scoffed. "Please. The only thing you have an effect on is a headache." She mumbled.
Gustavo narrows his eyes at her. "You're lucky your mother loves you, otherwise I would fire you on the spot."
Andi smirks. "But then who would get you coffee?" She quipped.
Gustavo opened his mouth to respond but was cut off by Kelly. "Okay, enough. Let's just go inside and find some talent." She said quickly, wanting to end their bickering before it could escalate. She grabbed their bags from the limo driver and then they headed inside. Once they were out of earshot, Kelly turned to Andi, "Andi, why must you antagonize him? I told you, you need to be on his good side." She reminded her.
"Mom, I'm sorry, but he's just so easy to pick on." Andi chuckled. She was honestly surprised Kelly didn't tease Gustavo more, considering they had been working together for years. She must've gotten used to his quirks and habits.
Kelly sighs, giving her a warning look. "Andi..."
"I'll be good, I promise." Andi reassures her, putting her hands up in surrender. "Besides, if I didn't antagonize him, then who would?" She added with a grin, clearly amused with herself.
Kelly rolls her eyes, a small smile forming on her lips. "That's not the point, Andi." She says, but she knows she can't stay mad at her daughter. "Just try not to get into any trouble, okay?" She pleaded.
Andi knew she had a good thing here, even if it felt menial and frustrating most days. But she couldn't help her habit of poking fun at Gustavo—it was one of the few things that kept her entertained in the midst of endless coffee runs and errands. "Me? Trouble?" Andi asks, feigning innocence. "Never." She added.
Kelly raises an eyebrow. "Right, and I'm the Queen of England."
"You never know." Andi shrugs. "Maybe you're secretly royalty and this is all an elaborate scheme to keep it a secret." She joked, nudging her mother with her elbow.
Kelly laughs, shaking her head. "You have an overactive imagination." She teased, but she had to admit, her daughter's sense of humor was one of the things she loved most about her. Andi was always making her laugh and keeping her on her toes. She was definitely a special young lady.
Andi grins, feeling proud of herself for making her mom laugh. "What can I say? I'm a creative person." She then pulls her beanie over her ears to cover them more as she felt a cold breeze. She brought her attention back to the screaming fans, annoyance shining in her eyes as she crosses her arms. "I'm gonna go deaf one of these days."
Gustavo looks at her and nods. "You should've brought headphones if you didn't want to hear my fans." He points at himself, looking annoyed. "I should've brought headphones because they're so loud. I hate all of them." Gustavo commented, taking a sip of his drink. Kelly glanced back at Andi with a look, shaking her head after seeing the look on her daughter's face.
"What? It's the truth." Andi shrugs, a smile appearing on her face. "They're annoying and I'm cold." She shivered, rubbing her arms to create warmth.
"Good to know that's something we agree on." Gustavo muttered, still looking annoyed.
Andi glances at him with surprise, raising an eyebrow. "Wait, did we just...Agree on something? I need this moment documented." She made a show of pulling out her phone, pretending to type a note.
Gustavo groans, rolling his eyes. "Don't get used to it, Andi."
Kelly chuckles, giving Gustavo a pat on the shoulder. "See? You two can find common ground if you try." She teased.
Andi grins, slipping her phone back into her pocket. "Who knew freezing in Minnesota would be the bonding experience we needed?"
Gustavo grumbled something under his breath but didn't seem nearly as irritated as usual. Andi noticed that, in his own gruff way, he cared about the team—maybe even about her. She didn't fully understand him, but she figured working with him had its perks. And, oddly enough, she enjoyed getting under his skin.
"I also hate the state for freezing my latte." Gustavo continues to complain, taking out the frozen drink from his cup and handing it to Kelly. He then tosses the paper cup away. "Also I need a big coat." He grumbled, eyeing his thin jacket with disdain before he handed the frozen drink to Kelly.
"You know, normally someone would've thought of that before coming to a freezing state." Andi chuckles, unable to resist a jab, grinning at the glare Gustavo sent her. When she felt a cold breeze cut through her own jacket, she shivered, pulling it tighter around herself. "Seriously, how can people live like this?" She whines. "Stupid Minnesota and its stupid snow." She muttered under her breath, kicking some snow away from her feet. She had never went to anywhere with snow before since she stayed in LA all her life and even on vacations with her mom they always went somewhere warm. She knew it would be cold, but she didn't think it would be this bad.
Kelly sighs, rubbing her temples. "I swear, I'm going to have to get another job just so I can pay for your therapy." She joked, shaking her head.
"It's not funny. I could have a serious case of hypothermia." Andi quips, narrowing her eyes at her mother. She crosses her arms tighter, feigning a shiver and a look of dramatic despair. "This may be the last time you see me alive." She declared, her voice laced with mock tragedy.
Gustavo rolls his eyes, though a smirk tugged at his lips. "The drama. You belong on one of those soap operas."
Andi shot him a playful glare. "Just because I'm freezing to death doesn't mean I'm being dramatic." She looks around at the snow, letting out an exaggerated sigh. "It's like a winter wonderland gone rogue."
Kelly chuckles softly, shaking her head at Andi's dramatics. "Oh, please. You're not going to get hypothermia from a little cold weather and it's not that bad. You'll survive." She reassured her, though her tone holds a hint of amusement.
"You don't know that. What if I get frostbite and have to have my fingers amputated?" Andi questions, giving her mom a look. "That would totally suck." She pouted as she stared at her gloved fingers, imagining them frozen off like popsicles.
"Yes, it would." Kelly nods, patting her daughter's shoulder. "But that's not going to happen. You'll be fine. Okay, so," She turns to face Gustavo and says, "It's our last stop so just focus and try not to make everybody cry. Somewhere in here is your new big star. I can feel it."
Gustavo nods in agreement and puts emphasis on the sentence he says. "I'm the star! What I need is a canvas with great hair that I can paint my pop on. I need a singing block of wood that I can set on fire." As Gustavo said this, he used hand motions that look like fire and Kelly repeated it as she nods. "So please, tell me where in...Uh..." His voice trailed off, already forgetting what state they were in.
Andi rolls her eyes. Of course. "We're in Minnesota." She stated, giving him an unamused look. She was about to add a remark when a gust of wind whipped through the area, causing her to shiver again.
Gustavo nods and does the hand motion again when he says fire. "Where in Minnesota is my fire?!"
"Probably frozen." Andi shot back as she tried to pull her scarf tighter around her neck. "Or it's hidden under a mountain of snow. Just like my will to live right now."
****
Auditions have been going on for about an hour and so far they haven't found anyone yet that Gustavo likes yet. In the auditorium, Andi sat on the right side of her mom, Kelly, who sat by Gustavo. The three of them have a desk in front of them with papers, drinks, and popcorn on it. Andi had to keep herself from falling asleep. She had her head in her hand and she was resting her elbow on the desk, occasionally blinking as her boredom was getting to her. The popcorn wasn't even that great and the drink was mediocre at best. She was getting antsy and restless, wanting this day to end and just go home. Kelly looked up at her daughter and noticed how bored she was, her expression filled with sympathy.
"You okay?" Kelly whispered to her, reaching over and gently rubbing her back.
"Yeah, I'm okay." Andi whispers back to her, nodding as she smiles a little. "Just bored out of my mind." She complained, her voice quiet. She leans back in her chair, glancing at the stage where the auditions were taking place. "I thought there would be at least one person who could impress Gustavo by now. Though he is really picky." She muttered, ignoring the small glare Gustavo sent her.
Kelly laughs quietly, shaking her head. "It'll be over soon, I promise." She reassured her, giving her arm a gentle squeeze.
Andi sighs and nods. "I hope so." She mumbled, sitting back in her seat. She had been doing a lot of sitting and waiting, and while she didn't mind it at first, after a while, it got old. She didn't really know why she needed to be here, anyway. It's not like she was going to be helping Gustavo find the next big pop star. But, her mom asked her to come and she wanted to be a good daughter, so here she was, bored out of her mind and cold.
"I'm so in love with you!" The blonde-haired girl finished singing rather loudly and off key. She bent down on her knee then stands back up and while she sings 'you' she brought her arms up. Andi grimaced as the girl was practically yelling the last word and she was surprised her eardrums hadn't burst yet and that Gustavo hadn't yelled at the girl yet.
Gustavo points at her. "Your singing makes me wanna dance," Andi looks over at him in surprise and she notices Kelly and the blonde-haired girl looks surprised as well. They didn't expect him to say that. But then he adds, "Off of a cliff! Next!" He shouted. The girl pouted, walking off stage as the next one walked in. Andi shook her head with a disappointed look on her face. She knows that the girl wasn't that good, but did Gustavo have to be so harsh?
Audition after audition, it's the same thing. No one seems to meet Gustavo's standards and he keeps yelling and being mean. Andi thought that Gustavo would at least pick someone by now, but no such luck. It was almost time to go home and they hadn't found anyone yet. She lost count on how many people that came in who have made Gustavo lost his mind. She was starting to wonder if there was anyone talented in this state. She knows that sounds mean, but it's the truth.
Andi let out a heavy sigh and leans back in her seat. This was not how she imagined this day would go. She was hoping they'd find someone easily and they would be back to LA soon, but so far, it didn't seem like that was going to happen. Kelly glanced over at her daughter, noticing her obvious frustration and boredom. She could understand why, this wasn't exactly the most exciting thing in the world, and she felt bad for bringing Andi along, but she knew her daughter would never forgive her if she left her behind.
"Hey, cheer up, honey." Kelly whispered, nudging her with her elbow.
"Why? There's no reason to." Andi sighs, leaning her head on her mom's shoulder with a frown. "It's been half an hour and we haven't had anyone that he likes." She complains. "There's no point in cheering up. Unless there's suddenly a miracle and someone comes in to wow him, I think I'm just going to sit here and freeze."
"Don't worry, we'll find someone." Kelly reassures her, gently rubbing her arm. "Who knows, maybe the next one will be the one." She smiled, trying to keep her spirits up.
"You've been saying that since we started." Andi pointed out, a tired expression on her face. Kelly sent her a sympathetic look, leaning over to kiss the side of her head. She understood her frustration, she was hoping they would've found someone by now, too, but she didn't want to give up just yet. She believed there was someone out there who could meet Gustavo's high standards and maybe, just maybe, they would find the next big superstar here in Minnesota.
As more people continue to come up on stage, each one Gustavo continued to say no, and each one Andi continued to get more annoyed and bored. This was becoming a never-ending cycle and she was getting tired of it. She just wanted to go home.
"Listen here, sister. That's the worst singing I've ever heard in my life!" Gustavo exclaimed to the girl on stage. She looked at him with an offended look before walking off the stage.
"That was a little rude Gustavo." Andi comments, shaking her head. "It wouldn't kill you to be a little nicer, you know." She added, a judgmental expression on her face.
Gustavo rolls his eyes. "Does it look like I care?" He asked. Andi rolled her eyes as well, crossing her arms as she looked away.
"You know these people have feelings, right?" Kelly sighed heavily, giving Gustavo a disappointed look.
Gustavo just stares at her with a blank expression. "Oh, neat. Guess what I have? Twenty-nine platinum records! I don't need feelings. What I need is the guy of the record company paid me a million dollars to find to make my fire." He does the same motion with his hand he did earlier. Andi refrained herself from slapping him upside the head. She knew it wouldn't do her any good though. "And if the three of us don't," He points at each of them. "Don't find him or her, we're fired!"
"Um, I'm only an intern..." Andi's voice trailed off, giving him a skeptical look.
Gustavo glares at her. "Then why are you even here?"
"You tell me. I'll gladly leave if I can." Andi shot back, her frustration bubbling over.
"That can be arranged." Gustavo threatened, his voice laced with annoyance. Andi felt a surge of defiance but quickly reminded herself that she needed this internship, no matter how difficult it was.
"Look, I'm here to learn, to work up to becoming a musician or songwriter, not to be your punching bag." She shot back, refusing to back down.
Gustavo narrows his eyes but then seemed to consider her words. "Learning is great, but in this business, you need thick skin. If you can't handle the heat, you should really think about a different career."
Andi takes a deep breath, trying to regain her composure. "Maybe instead of tearing people down, you could help them improve. That's what a good mentor does."
"Mentor? I'm not your mentor," He replies sharply, but there was a flicker of something in his gaze—perhaps curiosity or an unexpected glimmer of respect at her boldness.
"Then what are you? Because so far, all I see is a guy who's more interested in belittling people than actually finding talent." Andi challenged, wanting to say more but her mom interjected before she could.
"Okay, guys. Enough. We're all stressed out, but we can't lose focus." Kelly interrupts, trying to diffuse the situation. Andi huffs, leaning back in her chair and looking away. She knew her mom was right, but still. Kelly places a comforting hand on her arm, giving it a gentle squeeze before she then turns to Gustavo with a stern look. "And you can't yell at every single person that comes on stage-"
"Keep walking!" Gustavo suddenly shouts, startling Andi and that was when Andi realized that someone had walked onto stage next. "Don't stop at the microphone! Just keep walking! And goodbye!"
Andi glances at the person as they walk off stage and she looks back at Gustavo with a glare. "This is what I'm talking about! That was uncalled for. If you keep acting like this, you won't find someone to be your next big hit." She pointed out.
"Oh, and you know how to find talent?" Gustavo scoffed, rolling his eyes.
"Well, no, but-" She started, but then Gustavo cut her off.
"Then I suggest you keep your mouth shut." He interrupted. She narrowed her eyes, feeling a surge of anger.
Kelly looks between the two nervously. "Andi..." She warned, trying to diffuse the tension. Andi wanted to push back against Gustavo's harshness, but she also didn't want to make the situation worse. She took a moment to breathe, channeling her frustration into resolve.
Andi huffs and sat back in her seat, facing away from him. "Whatever."
Gustavo had to admit he was surprised she hadn't backed down. He'd seen plenty of interns crumble under pressure, but there was something about Andi that intrigued him. Perhaps it was her fiery spirit or her willingness to stand her ground that caught his attention. Despite his irritation, he couldn't help but respect her
"Don't worry. Sign-ups are until five and it's only..." Kelly started to speak up and then paused when she realized she didn't know what time it was. She glanced at her daughter for help and Andi sighed, glancing at her phone she picked up off the table.
"We have one minute until five." Andi informed her, putting her phone back down. She could care less honestly. She was losing hope as each moment ticked by without any sign of the talent they were searching for. Kelly's eyes widen and the two of them wince when Gustavo suddenly let out an angry yell as he hit the desk covered in popcorn.
Andi looks over at her mom when she gets up from her seat. "Where are you going?" She whispers, eyes widening. She quickly stands up, not wanting to be left alone with an angry Gustavo. She follows Kelly out of the auditorium. "Mom, don't leave me alone with him! Mom, come back! Honestly, he's scary when he's angry." Andi hissed, her heart racing as she hurried after Kelly. She had never felt more stuck between a rock and a hard place. She was determined to make the most of her internship, but Gustavo was testing her patience like never before.
"Yeah, true. You can come with me to see if there's someone else waiting to audition." Kelly offered and Andi sighed with relief, nodding her head. The two of them made their way through the door and went into the lobby.
Andi frowns. "What if there's no one left?" She questions crossing her arms as she leaned against the wall. "It's almost five and Gustavo hasn't found anyone yet. It's not like the one we're looking for is just gonna magically show up."
Just as she said that, four teenage boys ran into the lobby, one of them rushed over to her and her mom with his friends following quickly behind. "My name is James Diamond and I-I wanna be famous." The boy explained in a rushed tone.
Andi's eyes widen slightly, sharing a surprised look with Kelly since they didn't expect anyone to come running in at the last minute. She straightens up and pushes herself off the wall, intrigued by the sudden appearance of these boys. "Well, you're just in time. Auditions are almost over." She informed them. She couldn't help but look him up and down, he was definitely a good-looking guy. His brown hair was combed neatly to the side and his brown eyes sparkled with excitement and nervousness. He definitely had the looks to be the next pop star.
"Woah, oh-Ow!" James had started to sing to show off his talent when Andi interrupted him and slapped a number on his chest. He paused and looked confused and surprised.
"You'll have to fill out these forms and wait to be called in. Good luck." Andi informed him, giving him a small smile and handing him a clipboard that had a pencil with it.
"Thanks." James grinned and went over to his friends who were waiting for him. Andi went back over to her mom, but she couldn't help but glance over at the four boys as she overheard their conversation. She smiled a little at seeing James' friends being so excited that he got to audition. It was pretty adorable and heart-warming. Suddenly, one of his friends - the tall one with blonde hair - had glanced over at her and they locked eyes. He gave her a quick smile, which she returned, and then she turned away since she could feel her face getting warm. Her heart had skipped a beat at his smile and she shook her head. Now was not the time to get distracted, even if that distraction was cute.
Kelly notices her daughter's reaction and smirks a little. "See someone you like?" She teased.
"What? No. Of course not. Why would you even ask that?" Andi asked, feeling her face heat up as she avoided her mom's gaze.
Kelly laughs quietly, amused at her reaction. "Oh, please. It's obvious." She stated. "Don't deny it. I've seen the way you've been looking at him."
"I wasn't looking at him." Andi insists, her heart racing as her face turns more red and she crossed her arms, shifting uncomfortably. "I was looking past him."
"Oh yeah, and what exactly was it that you were looking at?" Kelly questioned, raising her eyebrows as she smirked at her daughter.
Andi opens her mouth, but she closed it a moment later, unable to think of a response. She huffs in annoyance and turned away from her mom, pouting. "Let's just get back to Gustavo." She mumbled, walking past her and heading back to the auditorium. She paused though when a blonde-haired girl is being carried out by two security guards, kicking and screaming.
"This is madness! I'm a star! I'm gonna be the next Gwen Stefani!" She yells while the security carries her out. She looks over at the four boys standing there and smiles. "Oh, hey, guys."
The four boys look at her with confusion, but still wave at her as they speak at the same time. "Hey, Jenny." They watched her get carried out of the building with surprise, not expecting that to happen.
As Andi watched this, her gaze locks with the same boy as before again and she felt her face heat up once again. His green eyes locked with her brown eyes and her heart started to race. There was a weird feeling in the pit of her stomach and she had a strange urge to talk to him, but she pushed the thoughts away and started to go back into the auditorium again when she felt her mom nudge her.
Andi lets out a small yelp in surprise when her mom elbows her side to get her attention. "What was that for?" She questioned, looking at her mom with confusion when she saw a smirk on her face.
"I saw you checking him out." Kelly teased.
Andi groans, rolling her eyes. "Not this again." She mumbles. Andi shakes her head, feeling her face getting hot. "Mom, shush. I was not."
"Mhm, whatever you say." Kelly grins and nudges her arm with her elbow. Andi huffs and ignores her, but that didn't mean her mom was wrong. She had been looking at the blonde-haired boy. She couldn't help it. He was really attractive and he seemed really nice. Plus, she thought it was sweet how supportive he was being of his friend. "So you are telling me that you don't think any of them are cute?"
She looks back at the four boys, taking a good look at each of them. Her gaze landed on the tall blonde one and she felt her heartbeat quicken when they locked eyes. He sent her a smile, and Andi couldn't help but smile back. She didn't know what it was about him, but he made her feel all kinds of things. A moment later, her face turns bright red when she realized she was still staring at him and quickly looks away. She clears her throat, feeling embarrassed. "No. Nope. I don't think any one of them is cute."
Kelly rolls her eyes, clearly not believing any word of what was coming out of her mouth. She saw the two teens lock eyes with each other and it was like love at first sight. Kelly walks over to the boys and that's when Andi starts to panic. "Mom, what are you doing?!" She whispered-yelled at her. Part of her wanted to run out of the building away from whatever embarrassment that was going to happen next and part of her wanted to stay so she could see what was going to happen.
"You. Name." Kelly looked at the brunette-haired boy standing beside James.
The brunette-haired boy looks at her with wide eyes, pointing to himself. "Who? Me?"
Kelly nods. "Mhm."
The brunette-haired boy shakes his head. "Oh, no. No thank you." He smiles. "I'm gonna be a doctor."
Andi tilts her head, looking at the boy and nods. She could definitely see him being a doctor. But Kelly apparently didn't like his answer. "Yeah, well. I'm a desperate talent scout, and you have a cute smile and Justin Timberlake made forty-four million dollars last year."
Andi's eyes widen, surprised her mom just said that. She couldn't disagree with her though because everything she said was true. "Hit me." He said, pointing at himself.
Kelly slaps a number on his chest while Andi handed him a paper to sign out. The other brunette-haired boy that Andi realized had a helmet with him then speaks up. "I wanna be famous, too!" He then did the same 'whoa, oh' James sung when he got there. Kelly slapped a number on his chest as Andi handed him a paper to sign out.
A wide smile forms on his face and his eyes lit up. "Yes!" He spoke excitedly.
Kelly then looks at the tall one that made butterflies form in Andi's stomach. "You, tall, blonde, and eyebrows, you want your dreams to come true today?" Andi looked over at him, curious to find out what he would say. Each of the boys were cute that was for sure and looked like they had potential to be famous, but she wondered if any of these boys could actually sing.
The blonde-haired boy smiles apologetically, shaking his head. "Sorry. My dream is to play center for the Minnesota Wild, but I'll also consider the Maple Leafs."
"Minnesota Wild is the best hockey team! The Maple Leafs are pretty great, too." Andi blurted out without thinking. She realized a moment later and her face turned bright red as her heart started to beat quickly. "Uh, sorry. Carry on." She awkwardly laughed, trying to ignore the blush that was appearing on her cheeks.
The blonde-haired boy grins at Andi's comment, clearly pleased. "Hey, no worries. Always nice to meet a fellow hockey fan."
Andi was feeling relieved that he didn't seem put off by her outburst. She smiles back at him, a hint of shyness to it. "Definitely. It's a pleasure to meet you..." She trailed off, realizing she didn't even know his name.
"Kendall." He finished for her and he held out his hand to her.
"Andi." She greeted, accepting his handshake. A pleasant chill went up her arm and butterflies appeared in her stomach as their hands touched. She couldn't help but wonder if he felt the same thing. She had a feeling he did when he smiled at her and his cheeks had turned a light shade of pink. She then quickly pulled her hand away and cleared her throat, looking away from him.
Kelly watches this and has a knowing smile on her face. She could tell these two were crushing on each other and were probably too shy to admit it. She decided to help them out a little by putting a number on his chest. "Okay, that's enough, Romeo." She said and then glances at James. "810 is next." She spoke and walked to the doors to the auditorium. Andi blushed more and quickly followed her.The brunette-haired boy who said he was going to be a doctor came in and actually didn't do that bad of a job at beatboxing. It seemed like Gustavo didn't like it. That didn't surprise Andi since lately it seemed like he didn't like anything, but it still made her a little upset.
"Wakkachicka, wakkachicka, wakkachicka, stop!" Gustavo yelled and the brunette-haired boy immediately stopped.
"Stop it forever." Gustavo spoke.
The brunette-haired boy stares at him with confusion. "Uh, I just started."
"And now, you're finished." Gustavo told him.
Andi frowns. The boy was actually the best one they had so far. She doesn't understand why Gustavo was being so rude. "But I'm not, because I wanna tell you what else you are!" Gustavo yelled.
Andi looks at the brunette-haired boy with an apologetic look as Gustavo yells at him. She watches the brunette-haired boy walk towards the door with a frown while Gustavo is still yelling, "Get back here! I have bad words, and I wanna use them on you! I wanna make fun of you!"
Andi looks over at Gustavo with a frown and shakes her head disappointingly. "Was that really necessary? He was actually the best one we had all night! For once you gotta stop yelling at people and start listening to them! I'm gonna go talk to him while you rethink about what you did to that poor boy."
She stood from her seat, not giving him a second to talk back to her and she walked out of the auditorium. She looked over at the boy that just went in seeing that he had his knees put up on the chair. He had his arms wrapped around them while moving back and forth.
She frowns, hating that Gustavo made him this upset. "Hey." She gains his attention and he and the other boys look at her with a bit of surprise, not expecting her to come out to talk to them. She apologetically smiles at him. "I'm sorry about Gustavo. You were actually really good."
He looks at her with a small smile. "Thanks. At least somebody thinks that." He raises his eyebrows. "You do know he's evil, right?"
"Yeah," She chuckles. She shrugs. "He can be sometimes, but he's actually a good guy deep down under all of that rudeness." She smiles slightly at the boys. "I haven't properly introduced myself yet. I'm Andi Wainwright." She introduced herself.
"It's nice to meet you. I'm Logan. You already know James and Kendall, and that's Carlos." The brunette-haired boy, Logan, introduced himself and his friends, pointing at each one he introduced. They all smiled kindly at her, Carlos even waved at her which made her giggle a bit and she returned the smile, waving back at Carlos.
"It's nice to meet you, boys. I also came out here to say that 811's up."
James's eyes widened which made her guess that was his new number. She watched James switch his new number with Carlos and she chuckled quietly. It seemed like James was really nervous to audition and she didn't blame him.
"All you, buddy." James pats his shoulder, sending him a sheepish smile. "Go get 'em."
Carlos looks over at Kendall as if he would have something to say about it but Kendall just shrugs. He looked over at Logan, who was still moving back and forth with his arms wrapped around his legs and it looked like he was crying. Andi still felt bad for the poor boy.
She watches Carlos stands up and puts his helmet on. After hitting it once, he turns to face his friends and points at them with a smile. Andi opens the door for him and follows him into the room. She goes back over to sit by her mom as Carlos walks onto the stage. Kelly looks over at her with a questioning look and she mouths, "I'll tell you what happened later." Kelly nodded in response and looked back at Carlos, who grabbed the mic.
Andi raises her eyebrows when Carlos throws the mic back and forth while singing, "Hoo. Hoo." and then he farts into the microphone. Andi's eyes widened when Gustavo starts to climb over the desk, looking like he wants to kill Carlos. She and Kelly quickly grabbed him, pulling him back with the help from while Carlos left the room.
Kelly looks over at Andi and sighs. "You go get the next one while I handle him."
Andi nods as she gets up from her chair and walks over to the door. She opens it and looks over at the boys with a small smile. "812. 812's up." She announced.
James quickly takes his number off and goes to put it on Kendall, but he stops James before he could put it on him. "James, this is your dream. Not mine." Kendall said as the two of them stand and he put his hands on James' shoulders.
"Remember, opportunities like this come once in a lifetime," Andi looks at the others seeing that Carlos and Logan had stood up as well as they look at James. "Now grab on to that dream with both hands and go big time." Kendall turned James around and pushed him towards the door.
Andi couldn't help but find his speech and what he was doing with James sweet. It made her like him even more. She opens the door for James and smiles reassuringly at him. "You're gonna do great." He nervously smiled at her, and walked inside while she followed. She walked back over to her chair while James walked onto the stage.
Gustavo looks at Andi and Kelly. "Well, he's not hideous." Andi smiled as she looked at James. Maybe he might be the one that Gustavo likes.
James walks up to the microphone and starts singing. "People say I'm the life of the party because I tell a joke or two."
Andi grins. She knew that he could sing but she didn't know he could sing this good. She heard a faint, "Not bad." and glanced behind her with furrowed eyebrows. She noticed the other boys were hiding behind some of the chairs, watching their best friend with smiles on their faces. She couldn't help but smile at how proud they seemed for him. It was sweet. Her attention went back to James as she watched him sing and she was glad she wasn't the only one who was impressed by him. Gustavo even stood up. Andi watched him walk up to the stage as James was walking down the stairs and she couldn't help but What confused her the most was the old lady that was beside them. Andi figured she was probably who drove them there. She shook her head and turned her attention back to James as he continue to sing.
"Although I might be laughin' loud and hearty, deep inside, I know." He then started to cough for some reason. Andi sat up straighter in her seat with a concerned look on her face. She looked over at Gustavo seeing that he was staring intimidatingly at James. She sighed while shaking her head, knowing that Gustavo was trying to make him nervous on purpose most likely just to get him to leave.
"Stop. Stop." Gustavo informed him.
"I-I'm sorry. I got a little nervous there. Can I start over?" James asked and Andi nodded, sending him a small smile.
"Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Start over." Gustavo replied. While leaning back in her chair, Andi sighed heavily when she realized that he didn't mean it.
"Why don't you uh, go outside and then just don't come back in?" Gustavo continues. "Okay? Next!"
"Gustavo!" Andi scolds and he looks at her with raised eyebrows. "He's good! Great even! Why don't you give him a chance?" She asked, raising her arms out of frustration before letting them drop back to her sides.
"Because sometimes in life you only get one chance. So, next!" Gustavo exclaimed.
Andi looks over at James with an apologetic look. He just shakes his head, sending her a look that read, 'at least you tried' before looking at Gustavo with a pleading expression. He put emphasis on the word 'good'. "But I'm good!"
"I don't need good. I need the fire, okay?" Gustavo starts to say, doing the same hand motion he uses when he says fire. "I need someone to knock me out of my seat, and as you can tell, I'm still in it." He gestured to himself and Kelly rolled her eyes.
"Because you have no talent!" Gustavo exclaimed. James looked like a sad puppy when Gustavo said that.
"No talent?! No talent?!"
They look over to see Kendall walking over to them and stands in front of them. "You're the one with no talent. You haven't had a hit in ten years!" He shouted at Gustavo.
Andi nods in agreement. "He does have a point." She voices, ignoring the harsh look Gustavo sent her and not seeing the fond smile on Kendall's face when she agreed with him. "And James has the talent, which is why you should give him a chance!"
"Hey, 'Girl To My Heart' by Boyquake was a hit nine years ago." Gustavo defended himself as he pointed at Kendall and ignored Andi's other comment.
"That was nine years ago." Andi pointed out.
Gustavo looks at her with an upset expression. "Whose side are you on?!"
Andi glares at him. "I'm on their side because you won't give someone who is talented a chance."
"Oh, 'Girl To My Heart.' Let me see if I can remember that rock classic." Kendall then pretended to be thinking. He points at Gustavo and then does some sort of jazz hands motion in front of his eyes while singing the first verse. "Girl, my eyes, and girl my mind." Andi had to admit he had a really good singing voice, too. Andi's eyes widens and leans back in her seat when he suddenly jumps on the table. "It never stops after it starts, 'cause you're a girl," He does a twirl, knocking some of the cups off the table. "A girl, a girl to my," Kendall gets on his knees and sings, "Heart, heart, heart." while he does a heartbeat motion with his hands close to Gustavo, knocking him out of his seat and Kelly quickly separated the two.
Andi watched with surprise, impressed by what just happened. Not everyone talks back to Gustavo the way Kendall did, and she found that brave and pretty attractive. "Okay, okay. Security!" Kelly exclaimed.
Andi watches worriedly as the security came over to try and pull Kendall away. "Hey, here's a new hit for ya." Kendall said to Gustavo. He then starts singing again. "Oh, you're such a turd. Oh, yeah, a giant turd, and you look like a turd and you smell like a turd!"
The two security guys grab him off of the table and start to drag him out of the room. "Hey, get off me. Come on!" Kendall yelled at them, struggling to get out of their grasp. Andi couldn't help but watch the scene with a worried look. She didn't want him to be kicked out.
"Hey, he did knock you out of your seat." Andi told Gustavo, looking amused when he sent her a glare.
Kelly helps Gustavo up as Andi lets out a gasp when Carlos runs over and jumps on the dark-skinned security guy, trying to get them to get off of Kendall. Andi looked over at James who puts the microphone back in its stand and jumps off the stage onto the security guards. She glanced behind her, seeing that Logan and the old lady was still left.
"I gotta get new friends." She heard him say before watching him run over to his friends. A shocked expression forms on her face when he started attacking the security guards with his friends.
Andi looks over at Kelly with slight amusement, watching her mom trying to stop Gustavo from going over to the boys and killing them. She looked over in the direction she heard footsteps, seeing the old lady running up to the group, and she couldn't help the chuckle that escaped her lips when she started whacking one of the security guards with her cane. That was sweet.
She saw the boys being pushed out the doors by the guards eventually and she frowned, watching them with worried eyes. She had wanted to do something, but she didn't know what she could've done. She just hoped those boys and even that old lady would be okay.

"Andi, you knock." Kelly suggested. The trio now stood in front of Kendall's house after doing some research. Andi had her arms crossed, trying to keep herself warm as a cold wind blew by.
Andi groans, stepping toward the door. "Why do I always have to be the one that does everything?" She mumbled as she knocked on the door.
A few minutes later they hear four voices singing the song Kendall made up earlier. The door then opened and the four boys immediately stop singing once they see Gustavo and scream.
Andi chuckles lightly. "Don't act so excited to see us." She sarcastically said. The boys look at her with wide eyes, surprise that she, Kelly and Gustavo were there. "You wanna let us in? It's freaking cold out here." She whined, wrapping her arms around herself to try and get some warmth.
James grins. "Yes! I knew you'd come back for me!" He ran forward and hugged Gustavo.
"I'm not here for you," Gustavo pushes James away. He points at Kendall. "I'm here for him."
James looks at him with shock. "What?"
"What?!" Kendall, Logan, and Carlos all exclaimed in unison after James.
"I'll make some tea!" A female voice from inside the house yelled and Andi wondered if it was one of their moms.
They eventually let the three of them inside of the house. Now, Gustavo is sitting in a chair between where Andi and Kelly are sitting. The boys, Kendall's mom who's name is Jennifer, and Kendall's little sister, Katie, all sat on the couches in front of them. Awkward silence fills the air as they all look at Gustavo, waiting for him to speak. "Mrs. Knight, I wanna take your family to Los Angeles and produce some demo tracks with Kendall." Gustavo took off his sunglasses, putting them in his pocket. He pointed at Kendall, who Andi noticed isn't looking that happy about this situation.
Kendall stares at him as he shakes his head. "You can't be serious."
"It'll take three months. We'll take care of all of your expenses." Kelly reassured them. Kendall looked over at Andi as if he didn't believe this was happening. Andi nodded, sending him a smile to pressure him this was actually happening. Kendall then looked at James when the brunette looked at him with a pleading look, but in response Kendall shook his head.
"Kendall, you have a gift." Gustavo starts. "You have the fire." Gustavo and Kelly both do the fire motion with their hands. Andi rolled her eyes, thinking that the hand motion thing was stupid.
"You also have anger management issues. Some people say I have anger management issues." Gustavo said.
Andi nods in agreement. "You do. You really do."
Gustavo ignores her comment and continues. "But I also have five houses!" He yelled, making Carlos jump back since he was startled by Gustavo suddenly yelling.
Andi raises her eyebrows, intrigued when James starts singing and snapping his fingers. "People say I'm the life of the party because-"
Gustavo interrupts him. "Stop it."
"Okay." James frowned.
"Please, don't ever do that again." Gustavo tells him. "Thank you." Andi inhaled a sharp breath, refraining herself from snapping at Gustavo for saying something like that.
"Kendall, we've traveled twenty-two cities. We've auditioned over twenty thousand people, and Gustavo's picked you." Kelly explained and Gustavo pointed at him.
Kendall shakes his head, his eyebrows furrowing together. "But I'm not a singer."
Katie, who was sitting on the armrest beside him, looks at him with furrowed eyebrows. "You sing all the time." She smiles. "In the car, at the table. You sing to me when I can't sleep at night." She starts listing off when he sings and Andi says, "Awe." towards the last part, thinking it was sweet he did that.
"No, I don't." Kendall denied it, looking embarrassed.
His mom rolls her eyes, putting her hand on his shoulder. "Yes, you do, honey." Andi smiled. The thought the fact that Kendall did sing to his sister when she can't sleep was adorable. It showed he cared about her.
Gustavo, who has picked up the cup of tea Jennifer had made him, shares a look with Kelly as Katie continues. "When you shovel the driveway, when you answered the door two minutes ago."
"But that's not singing." Kendall argued.
His mom taps him on the shoulder. "Yes, it is, honey."
"And he's always singing along to the nineties channel." Katie added and Andi couldn't help but giggle at hearing that.
Kendall glares at Katie. "Katie!"
"So, what do you say, kiddo, huh? You wanna go out to L.A. and be molded and shaped into a big old star by the Gustavo Rocque? Haha." Gustavo smiled. Everyone seemed to be excited about it but Kendall.
Kendall looks at his mom, his friends, and his sister before looking at Andi, Gustavo, and Kelly.
"No."
Andi jumps, startled when Gustavo suddenly breaks the teacup. She didn't expect him to break anything. She looks over as Carlos started laughing as if it was a joke, but as he looked at his friends he realized it wasn't and stops.
Gustavo sits the plate the teacup was on back on the coffee table. "I'm gonna need to take a minute. I'm gonna need to take a minute right now." He got up and went outside. Kelly took out some money to pay for the teacup he broke.
She lays it on the table. "It's for the teacup."
Andi's eyes grow wide and she looks towards the door with surprise when all of a sudden a loud crash was heard outside followed by Gustavo yelling, "I'm gonna destroy this state!"
Kelly lays some more money on the table. She sighs. "And the planter outside."
Then they hear a car alarm blaring after a crash. Andi at the boys, Jennifer, and Katie with a sheepish expression before she looks at her mom. "Just give it all to 'em." Kelly nodded in reply response. She laid the rest of the money she had in her hand on the table.
Kelly hands Kendall her card. "Here's my card. If you change your mind, call. You should think about this, Kendall. We leave tomorrow at two."
Andi and Kelly go to leave, but Andi looks back at Kendall before leaving. "You have talent, y'know? Not a lot of people have this kind of talent. I see talent in all four of you boys." While Kendall staresa t the floor, looking deep in thought, the other three smiled at her. She smiles softly. "You should really call, Kendall." Kendall looks back at her when she said his name. "I think you could be something even greater than you already are."
She turns to look at Jennifer and Katie. "It was nice meeting you, Mrs. Knight. You too, Katie." They both smiled at her as she walked out of the house with Kelly.
As she closes the door of their house, she hears Katie say, "Idiot." and she guesses it was to Kendall. She had to admit that she agrees with Katie about Kendall being an idiot about this situation.
****
The next day the boys are standing in the parking lot at Kendall's work.
"So, I did the math last night on this whole singing thing and found out that Katie was right. You're an idiot." Logan stated, pushing a cart forward, the cart hitting the front of a parked car. "It's breaking right."
"Guys, I don't wanna go to L.A. with that jerk. I wanna be here with you jerks and play hockey for our team." Kendall said to his friends.
Carlos frowns and then tries convincing him. "But this is just like hockey only, instead of crashing the boards and rushing the net, you're singing and dancing. And what about Andi? She seemed nice." He added with a small smile on his face. Kendall smiled. Andi was really nice. And beautiful. He was intrigued by her. He couldn't deny that. But, he wasn't sure if he wanted to do this.
Kendall sighs. "I'm not gonna go to L.A. just because of her." Even though part of him wanted to go to L.A. so he could get to know Andi he wasn't going to tell them that. At least, not right now.
"What have you got to lose?" Logan asked, raising his arms dramatically.
Carlos moves to stand in front of Kendall. "Dude, California. The girls. The beach. The stars. The girls." He listed things off that would be great about going to L.A.
"Yeah, but none of that matters if it's minus my best friends." Kendall points out, glancing at Logan. "Add those numbers up professor."
Logan takes his phone out, pretending to add numbers up as James gets a cart out. "Okay, carry the 2. Ah, nope. Still an idiot."
Kendall rolls his eyes at him. He looked over at James who has been quiet the whole time. "What about you? You haven't said anything to me all day."
James looks at him with an upset expression. "I'm not talking to you."
"You just did." Carlos and Logan informed him.
James glares at them. "You know what? All right," He looks over at Kendall, still having an upset expression on his face. "Dude, part of me hates you right now. No, all of me hates you. But call that guy back."
"That guy said you have no talent." Kendall reminds him. He looks over at Logan. "He made you cry,"
Logan nods, not denying it because there was no point in denying it when it was true. "And broke my mom's teacup." Kendall added to the list of reasons why he shouldn't call Gustavo.
"But he wants to make you famous." James pointed out. He then angrily pushed the cart he pulled out earlier towards the car Logan hit a few minutes ago. Instead of hitting the car it hits someone walking out of the store with groceries.
"Sorry." The four of them apologized while the guy that got hit by the cart gets up. He sent them an angry look before walking off.
"Okay," Carlos looks at Kendall, putting on his helmet. "If I make a hole in one, you have to call that guy back." He got the cart that Kendall had, takes a running start with it and jumped in it. The three of them winced just as a car drove at him.
Logan glances at Kendall with a small smile. "You should still call him."
James takes out a piece of paper, showing it to Kendall. "He has been on the cover of ' Rolling Stone '."
Kendall laughs. "What other odd things do you carry in your pockets?" He questioned, taking the paper from him.
James takes out a comb out of his pocket. "My lucky comb and eight by ten personalized headshots." He took them out of the side of his jacket. He raised one up next to his face, showing the boys his headshots.
"We just want what's best for you, man." Carlos went back over to them, wrapping his arm around Logan, thinking it was Kendall.
"I'm Logan." Logan told him and then pointed to Kendall.
Carlos realizes that Logan wasn't Kendall and looks at Kendall. "Oh, you." He then fell on the ground in front of them.
Logan moves to stand by James, putting his arm on James' shoulder. "He got hit by a car for you." He gestured to Carlos, who was on the ground.
"Yeah," James nods. "Opportunities like this come once in a lifetime."
"Now, let me get this straight." Kendall looked at his friends. "You're saying if you all had the chance to go to L.A. with a giant turd producer to record demos, you'd go?"
"Yes." The three of them said in unison and handed a phone out to him for him to call Gustavo. Kendall grabbed another cart, pushed it towards the place where the carts went and made it in.

Andi sighs, glancing out the window of the limo. Kelly was on the phone and Gustavo was meditating. Kelly's other phone rings.
She answers it for her. "Andi Wainwright, Rocque Records."
"Okay, I'm in." She heard Kendall say on the other line. She perked up at hearing his voice and she was happy that he decided to do this.
"Seriously?" She asks in disbelief. She smiles. "That's great! You're not gonna regret it!"
"I hope you're right." Kendall said. There was a slight pause before he spoke again. "Um, Andi?" He sounded nervous which made her curious as to why he was.
"Yeah?" She asked softly.
"If this does work out and I do go to LA, can we...Um, can we get coffee or something? I wanna get to know you more. You seem interesting." He rambled, stumbling over his words. Andi couldn't help the smile that spread across her lips and the way she felt giddy. It made her feel good that Kendall wanted to get to know her more. She felt the same way about him.
"Of course. I would love that." She responded. She was glad he couldn't see the grin on her face. He'd probably tease her for it. She couldn't help it. She was excited and a little nervous.
"Awesome." She could practically hear the smile in his voice and she could help but grin. "Then I'll see you later."
"Yeah. Bye, Kendall."
"Bye, Andi."
Andi hung up, a small smile on her face. She glanced over at Gustavo and her mom. "Kendall called." They both glance at her, curious and anxious to hear what his decision was. "He's in."
The limo is turned back around and stops at a grocery store. Gustavo is the first to get out, followed by Andi and Kelly. Andi looked over in the direction she heard footsteps, seeing the four boys in front of them.
"Don't think about him, think millions of dollars." Logan told Kendall.
Carlos looks at him. "Think of millions of girls." He then leans over and whispers, "Or just think of Andi."
Kendall shoves Carlos' arm, trying to ignore how his face was heating up and his heart skipped a beat at the mention of her name. "Shut up." He muttered, hoping his face wasn't as red as it felt.
Andi, Gustavo, and Kelly walk up to the boys as they start walking to them. "Think of me as the backup singer who could spin off in his own solo career, you know, after your second album." James chimed in, earning a small eye roll from Kendall.
As they continue to walk, they meet each other in the middle. Andi was on the left side of Gustavo as Kelly stood on his left. The air was tense between Kendall and Gustavo.
After a few moments, Gustavo broke the silence, speaking up. "Well?" Gustavo asked.
"Okay, I'll go to L.A. with you and record some demos." Kendall says. Andi couldn't help the small smile tugging on her lips, happy to hear the confirmation that he was agreeing to this. "If," He adds and Kelly and Gustavo look at him with surprise while Andi looks at him curiously, wondering what he was going to add. "You take my buds and make us a singing group." Andi was surprised by his offer, but she found it sweet he wanted his friends with him. She smiled slightly.
Logan chokes on the drink he was drinking while Carlos hits Kendall on the shoulder. "Dude!"
Kendall looks at his friends and shrugs. "You guys said you would go. "
Gustavo takes his sunglasses off. "I'm sorry. Are you trying to make a deal with me? I make the deals!"
Kendall nods. "If you want me, you have to take all of us." He gestured to him and his friends.
Gustavo starts laughing as if that was the funniest thing he has ever heard. Andi shakes her head and crosses her arms at Gustavo. She was disappointed in his reaction to this. "Have you ever heard your friends sing?" Gustavo asks Kendall, shaking his head. "Oh, that's right. They can't."
"Well, I'm no megaproducer like you, but I know they sing better than dogs," Kendall said while James holds up a paper of 'Rolling Stone '. "And you can turn them into stars. Right?"
Gustavo takes the paper from him. "Is this supposed to sway me?" He throws the paper away. "I'm Gustavo Rocque. I'm amazing."
"Debatable." Andi murmured under her breath, rolling her eyes. The four boys looked surprise that she talked back to him and they were curious as to what his reaction would be. Gustavo looked annoyed and instead of saying something to her, he looked at the four boys.
"And if you think for one second that I'm so desperate because of 2 or 22 cities that I haven't been able to anybody, you cant think again. Because there is no way, no way, Gustavo Rocque is takin the 4 dogs from Minnesota to Los Angeles to make them stars." He gestures to the four of them. Andi sighs heavily, shaking her head at him. Gustavo was starting to get on Andi's last nerve and it was only the morning. She was not looking forward to having to deal with him on the plane ride to L.A. "It's never going to happen. Never!" Gustavo yelled.
Kendall just stares at him, unfazed by him yelling. Andi noticed this and it surprised her. She figured he would react a certain way, but instead he just stood there and the he smiles at him. "So, we have a deal."
Gustavo nods. "Yup."
Andi let out a sigh of relief, happy and relieved that Gustavo agreed with Kendall. Now she would be able to spend more time with each of the boys and get to know them more. Soon they were on a plane with Kendall's mom and little sister on their way to L.A. She had to admit she was looking forward to seeing where their future would lead them.
A/N I apologize for this chapter being so long! I didn't realize how long the first episode was. but im already loving andi & the boys & i hope you guys are liking them as well!
