CHAPTER ELEVEN, big time dance (part one)

Andi was now at the Palm Woods, walking into the lobby. She just got done watching Logan try to ask Camille out to the dance. James was trying his best to help Logan ask Camille out since Logan was terrible at it.

Andi was only planning to this dance because she knows her mom and Gustavo are going and her mom encouraged her to go. She was never fond of parties and dances, but she thought she could use this as an opportunity to have some fun. She needed to get out of her comfort zone every now and then. She didn't expect to get a date for the dance, she did have hopes that maybe Kendall would ask her. After all, Kendall has been giving her mixed signals that he has feelings for her, but she didn't know what to make of it. Maybe he did, maybe he didn't.

Her thoughts were interrupted when she accidentally bumped into someone. She apologized, looking up at who she ran into and she found herself looking into a pair of beautiful green eyes. Her heart started beating a little faster and she found it hard not to get lost in the man's beautiful green eyes. She then realized this boy was none other than Jax Anderson. He was an up and coming solo artist, and Andi had always admired his voice. It was very angelic, and smooth and he was a great songwriter too. He wrote all his songs and was known for his catchy melodies and heartfelt lyrics.

"Oh, sorry about that." Jax apologized with a warm smile, extending his hand to help her steady herself.

Andi's heart skips a beat, feeling a slight blush creeping up her cheeks at the contact. "No problem," She replies, smiling back at him. "I should've been watching where I was going."

Jax chuckles lightly, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "Well, I'm glad I could catch you before you fell." His hands linger on her hip and her arm, where he had reached over to grab to help steady her and stop her from falling. His touch sent shivers down her spine, and his gaze was filled with warmth and affection.

She could feel the heat rising in her cheeks as she became flustered under his intense gaze. Her heart was beating rapidly, and she felt butterflies fluttering in her stomach. She didn't feel like this with anyone besides Kendall, and it took her off guard.

"Thank you." Andi mumbles shyly, unable to meet his gaze. She couldn't help but notice how handsome Jax is, with his dark hair and emerald green eyes. She'd always had a bit of a crush on him, and it was hard to believe she was actually standing in front of him. "I'm Andi."

He smiles brightly, pulling his hands away and holding one out to shake. "I know who you are and I assume you know who I am, but in case not I'm Jax Anderson." He said with a teasing tone and a smirk. He shook her hand, his grip gentle and firm.

"I know who you are." Andi said with a small chuckle. "I'm a huge fan of your music." She admitted, blushing slightly at her own admission.

Jax's smile widens at her words, his eyes lighting up with genuine delight. "Thank you, that means a lot." He replies, his tone sincere. "I'm a big fan of yours as well."

Her blush deepens, and she can't help but feel flattered by his words. She was surprised to hear that Jax is a fan of hers, and she's touched by his honesty. "That's very sweet of you, thank you." She says, her voice soft and her tone gentle. "So, um, what brings you to the Palm Woods?" She asked, hoping to keep the conversation going. She wanted to get to know him more, and she was enjoying his company. She then realized they were basically holding hands now and so she quickly pulled her hand away and looked away awkwardly, hoping he didn't notice the blush on her cheeks.

"Oh, uh, I moved here recently. I was hoping to start fresh and work on my music, and the Palm Woods seems like the perfect place to do so." He explains, running a hand through his hair. He seemed nervous, and Andi found it adorable. "And you? What brings you here?" He asked curiously, tilting his head slightly as he studied her. He was interested in getting to know her better, and he was curious about her story.

"My mom is Gustavo Rocque's assistant and I'm a songwriter working with him to write songs for the band Big Time Rush." Andi admits, fiddling with her hands nervously. "I love working with them, they're a lot of fun and they're a great band." She continues, her eyes shining with excitement as she talks about her work. "But yeah, my mom and I live here and she convinced me to go to the school dance tonight."

Jax smiles, his gaze warm and appreciative. "That's great! I'm sure they're very lucky to have you working with them." He replies, his tone sincere. He can tell that Andi is passionate about her work, and it's clear that she cares about the band. He finds her enthusiasm and dedication to be endearing, and he's glad that she's found something she loves doing. "Well, I'm glad your mom convinced you to come, because I'd love the chance to get to know you better. And I'm glad I ran into you, I was hoping to find you actually." He confessed. He had been wanting to get to know her and befriend her since he moved here. He had seen her around and had even looked her up online, but he had been too nervous to approach her. Now that he has the chance, he's determined to take it.

Andi's heart flutters at his words, and she can't help but feel excited about the idea of getting to know him better. She smiles, her cheeks flushed pink as she looks at him. "Really? Well, I'm glad you did, I'd love the chance to get to know you better as well." She replies, her voice soft and her tone genuine. "And, uh, why were you hoping to find me?" She asked, her curiosity getting the better of her.

Jax's smile grows wider, and his eyes sparkle with amusement. "Well, I wanted to see if you would go to the dance with me." He then pulls out a white flower and her heart flutters at seeing it was her favorite flower. It was a White Lily, her favorite. How did he know that? "I saw that you're a fan of flowers and you mentioned your favorite flower being a white lily on one of your Instagram posts." He said, answering her unasked question. He had noticed her eyes light up at seeing the flower and figured he had guessed right. "I was hoping you would be my date for the dance."

Andi was speechless, her eyes wide as she stared at him. She was touched by his thoughtfulness, and she was amazed that he had paid such close attention to her. But then she thought about Kendall. That kiss they shared during the bad boy off. How those weird butterfly feelings she had been feeling for him lately had been confusing her so much. She liked Jax, she really did, but Kendall... He had been on her mind a lot more than she cared to admit.

The kiss with Kendall had meant something to her, but there was still so much uncertainty. But this was just a dance, right? And Kendall hadn't asked her. But Jax did, and he even went through the trouble of paying attention to her likes, remembering her favorite flower, and thinking about her in such a thoughtful way. Jax was sweet, sincere, and had made a genuine effort. It felt special, in a way that Andi couldn't just ignore.

Andi's breath caught in her throat. The pristine white lily seemed to glow in Jax's hand, a stark, beautiful contrast against the muted tones of the Palm Woods lobby. How? How did he know? Her mind raced, flipping through a mental catalog of her Instagram, trying to pinpoint the offhand comment she'd made months ago about her grandmother's garden and the flowers that reminded her of home.

His smile was tentative now, a slight, vulnerable curve of his lips that wasn't there moments before. He was watching her process it all, his green eyes searching hers for an answer. The air between them felt thick, charged with a possibility she hadn't seen coming.

"You..." She starts, her voice a soft whisper she barely recognized. "You remembered that?"

"I pay attention to things that matter," Jax said, his own voice low and intimate, as if they were the only two people in the vast, echoing space. His thumb brushed lightly over a petal. "It's just a dance, Andi. No pressure. I just thought...It might be fun."

Fun. The word echoed, but it felt like so much more. It felt like being seen. It felt intentional. Kendall's mixed signals were a language she was constantly, exhaustingly trying to decipher. A lingering look here, a casual, friendly arm around her shoulder there, that one earth-shattering kiss that he'd never, ever mentioned again. It was a puzzle with half the pieces missing.

But this? This was clear. This was a boy she admired, handing her her favorite flower and asking a simple, direct question. The sincerity in his emerald gaze was a balm to the confusion Kendall had left her with. Her heart was a wild drum against her ribs, a frantic rhythm that seemed to scream two different names at once. One was familiar, a bittersweet ache she'd grown used to carrying. The other was new, a thrilling, terrifying flutter of potential.

She opened her mouth, the ghost of a 'yes' already forming on her tongue, a desperate part of her wanting to grasp this clear, straightforward affection. But then a sound sliced through the tension—a burst of loud, laughing voices from the far end of the lobby. Her head turned on instinct, her gaze pulled away from the captivating green of Jax's eyes.

And there he was.

Kendall. He was trailing behind James and Logan, shaking his head at something Carlos was demonstrating with overly enthusiastic arm gestures. He was laughing, his face open and bright, utterly unaware of the silent crisis unfolding fifty feet away. He looked over, his eyes scanning the lobby, and for a heartbeat—a single, suspended moment—his gaze landed on her. It was just a flicker. A casual recognition. He offered a quick, friendly wave and a smile before turning back to his friends, getting pulled into their orbit once more.

But that one look, that effortless, uncomplicated smile, was enough to send her thoughts spiraling. It was the same smile he gave everyone. The same smile that kept her up at night wondering if she'd imagined the entire Bad Boy Off. The heat that had been building in her cheeks under Jax's attention now cooled, replaced by a familiar, frustrating confusion.

She forced her attention back to Jax, who was still waiting, the lily held delicately between them. His expression had softened, a knowing, almost sympathetic look in his eyes, as if he'd followed her gaze and understood exactly the war being waged inside her.

"You don't have to answer right now," He said gently, his voice pulling her back into their private bubble. He takes a small step closer, the scent of his cologne—something clean and subtly spicy—wrapping around her. He didn't touch her, but his proximity was its own kind of touch, a warm, inviting energy that drew her in. "It's a big ask. I get it."

"It's not that," Andi said hurriedly, wanting to reassure him, to explain the hurricane in her head. "It's just..A surprise. A really nice surprise."

He smiles again, a little more confident this time. "I'm full of those." He finally, slowly, reaches for her hand. His fingers were warm as they brushed against her palm, sending another one of those delicious shivers up her arm. He places the stem of the lily gently into her hand, his fingertips grazing her skin for a moment longer than necessary. A question. A promise. "Think about it," He murmurs, his voice a low vibration that she felt in her core. "I'll be around. The offer stands."

He held her gaze for one last, endless second, a look that seemed to say more than words ever could. Then, with a final, warm smile, he turned and walked away, leaving her standing alone in the middle of the lobby.

"Hey, Andi! You ready to—whoa, is that a lily?"

She jumped, clutching the flower to her chest as she spun around. Kendall was standing there, having broken away from his friends. His eyebrows were raised, a curious, lopsided grin on his face. His gaze flicked from her flushed face down to the flower she was protectively holding. "Uh, yeah," she said, her voice coming out a bit too high. "It is."

"Who got you your favorite flower?" Kendall asked curiously.

That surprised her. He remembered it too? Andi's heart skipped a beat at the unexpected question. She had always thought of her love for white lilies as something small and personal, a little detail that few people knew about. Yet here was Kendall, standing in front of her with that same easy grin, his eyes twinkling with curiosity. Was it possible that he had remembered? She hadn't exactly gone around broadcasting her favorite flower to everyone.

She cleared her throat, trying to keep her composure. "Uh, actually... Jax," she said, her voice a little steadier than before. She held the lily up slightly, as if to emphasize it. "He asked me to the dance and gave me this."

Kendall's expression shifted, ever so slightly. His eyes flickered from the flower back to her, and for the first time, she noticed a subtle tension in his jaw. He seemed to pause for a moment, considering something. "Jax, huh?" he repeated, his tone casual but with a thread of something else laced through it.

Andi's pulse quickened, the weight of the moment pressing down on her chest. She could feel his gaze—sharper now, more focused. Was he jealous? Was he jealous?

"Yeah," Andi said, trying to sound more casual than she felt. "He was really thoughtful. Remembered the flower thing from one of my posts." She shrugged, though her heart was beating faster with every word. "I didn't expect it, honestly. But he's nice."

Kendall's grin was still there, but it looked a little forced now, like he was trying to mask something. "Well, that's...sweet," he said, his voice a little less confident than before. "Guess he's a good guy, huh?"

Andi couldn't help but notice how Kendall's expression softened for a brief moment, like he was fighting with himself about something he wasn't saying. She had no idea what he was thinking—what was going on behind those hazel eyes—but whatever it was, it wasn't the easy, carefree Kendall she was used to.

"I mean, he is," Andi replied, her words feeling almost too honest. She glanced down at the lily again, her thumb lightly brushing over its soft petals. She hadn't meant to share so much, but something about this conversation made her feel like she was peeling away layers of herself without meaning to.

Kendall shifted on his feet, looking around as if he was trying to find a way to navigate this awkward moment. "Well," he said, clearing his throat. "I guess that means asking if you wanted to go with all of us as a group to the dance is off the table then."

"He asked me to the dance, yeah, but I didn't say yes yet." She replied instantly, not sure why she felt like she had to say that. Kendall's expression flickered, his eyebrows slightly furrowing as he processed her words. For a brief moment, Andi thought she saw a flash of relief in his eyes, but it was quickly masked by the same casual grin he always wore. He shifted his weight from one foot to the other, clearly unsure how to respond.

"Okay, so you didn't say yes yet," Kendall repeated, his voice quiet. "But you're thinking about it, right?" There was a hint of something vulnerable beneath his usual bravado, like he was trying to gauge where they stood now.

Andi felt her heart race. She hadn't meant to make things more complicated, but now the words felt like they were tumbling out without her permission. Why had she felt the need to clarify that she hadn't said yes yet? Was she trying to leave the door open for Kendall? Was she trying to avoid hurting him?

"I... I don't know," she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. "I didn't expect things to be like this. I'm still trying to decide what to do. But, um, I'll take your offer into consideration for sure. I'll see you later, I gotta go." With that she turned and quickly left to her apartment, sighing and leaning her head against the wall in the elevator. What is she going to do?

****

"Are you freaking kidding me? You got asked to the dance by two guys?!" Camille asked in shock and in disbelief. Andi had called her over needing advice on what to do. They sat on her bed in her room while Andi got Camille up to date on what's going on.

"Hold on," Andi cut in. "Kendall didn't ask me to the dance as a date. He just aked if I was going to go with him and teh guys as a group."

Camille stared at her. "Andi, think about it. He brought it up right after seeing you with Jax's lily. That wasn't coincidence—that was him scrambling." She leaned forward. "You kissed Kendall during that Bad Boy Off. He *knows* things shifted between you. Why else would he suddenly care who you go to the dance with?"

"He doesn't care." Andi replies defensively. "I mean, there's no reason to care, right? Unless that kiss meant something to him too-" She stopped herself before saying too much than she already had.

Camille gasps dramatically, pointing at her. "I knew you had a crush on him!"

Andi groaned, burying her face in her pillow. "It's not a crush," she mumbled, muffled. "Things just got... confusing." She lifted her head, strands of hair sticking to her face. "Jax was so thoughtful. He remembered the lily. He planned this." She traced the flower's stem resting beside her on the comforter, its sweet scent filling the small room. "But Kendall...He's Kendall." She said fondly, as if that explained everything. The messy-haired, guitar-playing boy next door who made her heart stutter with a careless grin. The kiss had been real, intense, but followed by radio silence. Was Jax's clear intention better than Kendall's bewildering ambiguity?

Camille snatched the pillow away. "Stop hiding! Look at me." Her voice softened. "Okay, deep breaths. Forget who *asked* how. What do *you* want? Forget Kendall's mixed signals for five seconds." She tapped Andi's forehead. "In here. Who makes your stomach flip more right now? Picture the dance. Who do you see yourself smiling *with*?"

"What if I said both?" Andi groans, laying down dramatically. "This is getting nowhere."

Camille snorted, tossing the pillow back at her. "Fine. Then flip a coin." She fished a quarter from her jeans pocket, holding it up. "Heads for Jax, tails for Kendall." Her eyes locked onto Andi's, suddenly serious. "But watch your face when it lands. That'll tell you everything."

"I am not flipping a coin to decide who to go to the dance with!" Andi hissed, but it was too late. Camille already flipped the quarter high into the air. It spun, catching the afternoon light filtering through Andi's window, before landing with a soft *thwack* on the comforter between them. Heads. Jax.

Camille's eyes snapped to Andi's face. "You look disappointed." She didn't ask; she stated it. A flicker of something raw and undeniable had crossed Andi's features the moment heads showed – a tightening around her eyes, a slight sag of her shoulders, a fleeting shadow crossing her flushed cheeks before she schooled her expression back into annoyance. Camille saw it. "You were hoping for tails. I think there's your answer." Camille watched her silently, the playful glint gone.

"Look," she said, her voice softer now. "Maybe the coin didn't pick your date. Maybe it just showed you what you're not ready to admit." She nudged the lily gently. "Jax made a move. A bold one. Kendall..." She trailed off, shrugging. "He saw you holding another guy's flower, knew what it meant, and offered a group invite. Safe. Easy. No risk. But in the end, this is just a dance. One night. It's up to you to decide who you want to spend this one dance with. It doesn't have to mean anything else."

Andi nods. "Yeah, you're right. It's just one dance. I think I know what I'm going to do."

She grabs her phone, fingers trembling slightly as she navigates the boy's contact she was planning to text. The cool metal edge bites into her palm—a grounding sensation against the nervous flutter in her chest. *Meet me by the pool in five?* she texts, hitting send before she can overthink it. She glances back at Camille with a grateful look. "Thank you for your help, Camille. It really means a lot."

"No problem, girl," Camille grinned, hopping off the bed. "Just promise you'll tell me everything after." The door clicked shut behind her, leaving Andi alone with the lily's sweet scent and the frantic drumming of her own pulse. She took a slow breath, glancing at her phone when it buzzed with a confirming answer that he would meet her.

Andi reached the pool, chewing on her lower lip as she scanned the area for the boy she planned to meet. And there he was, sitting at one of the empty tables towards the back corner. He saw her immediately, his expression shifting from confusion to curiosity as he stood up, his posture stiffening slightly. Andi took a deep breath, trying to calm the butterflies that seemed to multiply in her stomach with each step she took.

They met half way, both smiling, both seeming a bit nervous. "Hey," He greets softly. "So...What did you want to talk about?"

"I would love to go to the dance with you, Jax." She blurted out before she chickened out

Jax blinked in surprise, his eyes widening for just a moment before a slow, genuine smile spread across his face. It was the kind of smile that made the air between them feel warmer, lighter, even though the evening had already cooled.

"You would?" His voice was soft, but there was a spark in his eyes, a quiet thrill that mirrored the one fluttering in Andi's chest.

Andi felt her cheeks flush at the sudden admission, her nerves catching up with her now that she had said the words. "Yeah," She said quickly, a little breathless. "I...I know it's kind of sudden, and I was a little confused about everything, but Jax, you've been so kind, and—" She pauses, trying to collect her thoughts, but it was hard to concentrate with the way her heart was hammering in her chest. "I want to go with you. I want to give this a chance."

Jax's grin grew, and for a moment, Andi swore she saw a flicker of relief in his eyes. He stepped closer, closing the distance between them. "I'm glad," He said, his voice lower now, a quiet promise lingering in his words. "I'll make it a night to remember." With that, he kissed her cheek before he pulled back and walked back inside, leaving her giddy and breathless.

As she drifted back toward her apartment, Andi's thoughts raced—the warmth of Jax's lips on her skin, the scent of his cologne still clinging to her. The lily felt heavy in her hand now, a beautiful anchor to her choice. She didn't regret it. Not one bit. She felt excitement building as she thought about what she should wear—something elegant but not too fussy. Maybe that navy dress Camille had insisted she buy last month? She turned the corner, humming softly to herself, her mind already painting the dance in vivid strokes: Jax's smile when he saw her, the music thrumming through the floor, the way his hand might settle on her waist—

"Someone's excited." A teasing voice brought her out of her rambling thoughts.

She jumps, startled as she glances over at a teasing James and Logan. "Uh, yeah, um, Jax asked me to the dance and I said yes."

James and Logan's eyes widen in shock and surprise. "The Jax Anderson?!" They said in unison.

Andi nods, smiling brightly. "Yeah, the one and only."

Logan looks at her with surprise. "Oh, really?"

"Yeah," Andi furrows her eyebrows in confusion. "Why? What's wrong?"

"Nothing's wrong." Logan quickly said.

"Then why are you asking?" Andi inquired, getting confused. She had thought her friends would be happy for her so she didn't understand why they were acting this way.

Logan shrugs. "Nothing. I just kind of thought Kendall would ask you."

"I mean, he asked me to go as a group with you guys..." Andi trailed off in confusion. Why would Logan assume Kendall would ask her specifically? Had Kendall said something to the guys about wanting to ask her? Her pulse hitched at the thought.

Logan's jaw drops, and he looks at her in disbelief. "Wait, don't tell me you didn't know."

Andi raises an eyebrow, her confusion increasing. "Didn't know what?" She asked, her mind racing as she tried to figure out what Logan was talking about.

Logan was about to reply until James covered his mouth, nervously laughing as he looks at Andi. "Don't listen to him. He's freaking out about asking Camille out to the dance. I'm gonna go help him do that. Okay? Okay, bye."

Andi looks at the two weirdly, watching James drag Logan out to the pool area. When they get to the pool area, James lets go of Logan. Logan slaps James' shoulder. "Dude! What was that for?"

"You were going to blow Kendall's secret!" James responds with a glare. He gestures to the lobby where Andi is. "Kendall doesn't want her to know he likes her."

"Why not?" Logan asked, confused.

"He thinks she doesn't like him that way." James responded with an eye roll. "Which she clearly does!" He whispered harshly, peeking around the corner to ensure Andi hadn't followed them. "But Kendall's convinced that kiss was just for the competition. Said she hasn't given him any real signals since so probably after seeing Jax asked her and she said yes both of those reasons are probably why he asked her as part of the group thing."

Logan groaned, rubbing his temples. "That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. He's an idiot, they both clearly like each other but are too scared to admit it. And now, of course, Jax is in the way. Great. Just great."

"Yeah," James sighs. "But hopefully they realize their true feelings for each other eventually."

Andi notices Kendall and Katie at one of the computers in the lobby later that day and being her curious self she walks over to them. "Hey, guys." She looks at them curiously. "What are you doing?" She then notices that they were on a website that was called 'Find-Your-Mom-A-Date.Love' She nods in realization. "I'm guessing you're finding your mom a date to the dance tonight?"

Kendall points at her. "Exactly. I asked her to be a chaperone."

"Wanna help?" Katie asked her hopefully.

Andi shrugs. "Sure."

She stood on the other side of Katie as Katie found a date. Andi had a few hours before she had to get ready for the dance and she didn't have anything else to do. Plus she was glad things weren't awkward between Andi and Kendall now after earlier. She had been nervous about seeing Kendall again after agreeing to go with Jax, but Kendall seemed perfectly fine. He hadn't even reacted strangely when she mentioned agreeing to go with Jax as they searched for dates for his and Katie's mom.

She was glad he wasn't weird about it. Maybe Logan was wrong? Maybe Kendall didn't like her like that? But then she felt a bit disappointed, because she felt those weird butterfly feelings for him and had hoped he felt the same. Though maybe it was for the best? She was going with Jax now, after all. Andi shook her head, trying to push those thoughts about Kendall aside. The dance was just one night. One night that she was going to spend with Jax, someone who had made his intentions clear, someone who was brave enough to ask her out and not leave her guessing. Maybe it wasn't what she had imagined for herself, but it was a start, and that was something and she was looking forward to tonight with Jax.

"He's a lawyer, a fighter pilot, and a gold medalist in the hammer throw." Katie read off the date she found who went by Smooth Operator 75.

Andi furrows her eyebrows. "Wow, that's a lot." She glances at Kendall and Katie. "But it might not be true."

"Hey, you never know." Kendall shrugs. He looks at Katie. "Make it so, baby sister." The two fist bump and Katie pressed a button, making a date with Smooth Operator 75.

The three of them look over when they hear Bitters shout with excitement. "Yes! Daddy's got a date to the dance." A look of confusion forms on Andi's face, wondering why he had handcuffs on, a helmet on, a medal, and held a hammer. Andi looked back at Kendall and Katie, sharing a panicked expression with them.

"Cancel the date, cancel the date." Kendall told Katie and Katie was quick to do that.

The three look back over at Bitters when he groans. "Aw, nuts." Bitters then went back into his office.

"That was close." Andi sighs in relief. "Okay, do you guys have a plan B?" She asked, looking at the siblings while tilting her head to the side.

"Nope." Kendall sighs. "And it's not like there's some handsome doctor's convention in town."

They turn around when they hear talking and were surprised to see a sign near the end of the hallway that read 'Handsome doctor's convention'. The three watched with wide eyes as a group of handsome doctors walk down the hallway.

Kendall perks up, smiling in relief. "Oh, wait. There is." Andi and Kendall high five and along with Katie they start to head over to the convention but was stopped by Mr. X.

"Stop walking right now..." Mr. X demands. "And start dancing like this."

Andi then realized that this was part of Gustavo's plan to teach the boys the dance moves for that night. Sure, it was strange and weird but Andi had been used to that with the boys. Andi, Kendall, and Katie shrug and copy the dance move Mr. X just showed them. Mr. X forms his arms in an 'x' gesture. "Exquisite."

When Mr. X leaves, Andi, Kendall, and Katie quickly goes over to where the convention is being held.

"Thank you, gentlemen." Jennifer says to the doctors Andi, Kendall, and Katie brought back to the apartment. Jennifer was pushing the doctors out of the apartment, looking at them with an apologetic expression. "It's not you, it's me."

"This is too much!" Jennifer quickly closed the door once the doctors are in the hallway.

Jennifer walks over to the three who look at her with a smile. "I love you both for caring..." She says to her kids and then looks at Andi with a smile. "You too." Andi smiles back at her at hearing that. Jennifer looks at each of them, shaking her head. "But I'm perfectly capable of getting my own date."

"No, you're not." Kendall and Katie said at the same time.

Jennifer shrugs. "I'm fine."

"Mom, it's time to put down the romance novels and find some romance." Kendall told her.

Katie shakes her head. "You're not getting any younger."

Jennifer looks at her with offense and then sighs. "Fine." She looks at each of them, putting a hand on her hip. "You want to get me a date? Get me..." She picks up a nearby romance novel. She points at the male in the picture on the front cover. "Him. But only him. This is the man of my dreams, the love of my life. Nobody else."

Jennifer throws the book to Kendall who catches it. Jennifer sheepishly smiles at the three of them. "Good luck."

The trio then moved to the lobby of Palm Woods. "Okay, search for 'Fabio' and 'Fake Butter'." Kendall said, walking beside Andi and Katie over to the computer. Kendall pushed the guy who was at the computer away while Andi pulled a nearby chair over for Katie.

Katie begins typing and sighs when she notices something. "Oh no. The guy mom wants to date is seriously famous."

The three then watch a video about Fabio's pocket griller. When they heard that if you order right at that minute Fabio would deliver, they were quick to make a order. They get back to the apartment and a few minutes later Fabio arrives with the pocket griller.

"Fabio." Kendall greets. "How would you like to date a totally cool and amazing woman?"

Fabio sighs. "Oh no. Not another kid who asks me to date their mom." He sets the box that had the pocket grill in it on the floor. "I'm leaving."

Andi shares a panic look with Kendall and Katie and Katie was quick to grab a net. "Time for plan B."

Katie throws the net on Fabio and he stumbles to the ground. "Kendall, I got some snacks for the dance, and..." Andi's eyes grow wide as she looked at Jo. Kendall quickly rushed over to Jo, looking at her with a nervous smile. "And what is going on? You look like you're hiding something." Jo noticed, furrowing her eyebrows.

"No, totally not." Kendall chuckles nervously. "But, um, it would be a big help if you could make a theme banner and decorate the studio." He said hopefully, hoping it would be enough to get Jo to leave so he and the others wouldn't get caught.

Jo looks at him weirdly and shrugs. "Um, sure, I guess." She dropped the bags she brought with her and then turned to walk away.

Kendall closes the door after she left, turning to face his sister and Andi with a relieved look. "That was close." Andi nodded in agreement, breathing a sigh of relief.

"Okay, we gotta hide him before mom gets back." Katie spoke up, gesturing to Fabio who was laying on the ground under the net.

It took them awhile and it was a struggle but they managed to get Fabio tied up in the bathroom and put duct tape on his mouth. "Now, if I take the tape off your mouth, you're not gonna scream, right?" Katie asked Fabio.

When Fabio shakes his head, Katie takes the tape off his mouth. Andi's eyes widen when Fabio screams. Katie points at Fabio. "You said you weren't going to scream."

"I scream because it hurt." Fabio told them.

"That's understandable." Andi nodded. She would've done the same thing.

"Katie?"

When they hear Jennifer, Katie quickly puts the tape back on Fabio's mouth and the three of them walk out into the apartment. "Hey, mom, what's up?" Kendall questioned as he, Andi, and Katie stopped the sibling's mom from going into the bathroom.

"What is going on?" Katie asked.

Andi nervously smiles at Jennifer, shaking her head. "You don't wanna go in the bathroom."

"There's nothing in there." Katie added.

"Look, I'm sorry I snapped earlier." Jennifer apologizes. "I guess I'm a little sensitive about the dating thing. But I wanted to thank you for caring."

Andi looks at her with a genuine smile. "You're welcome."

"We just want you to be happy, mom." Kendall added.

"Hey, I am happy." Jennifer smiles. "Even if I don't get a date with the buff and dreamy Fabio...I still have great kids." She looks at Andi with a smile. "And a great friend." Andi returned her smile, happy to know she was counted as one of Jennifer's friends.

When Jennifer leaves, the three of them quickly rush back into the bathroom, surprised to see Fabio was free and was eating a kabab.

Kendall points at Fabio. "How'd you get free?"

Fabio shrugs. "I'm Fabio. I can do anything." He smiles. "And your mom sounds very nice."

"Does that mean you'll take her to the dance?" Andi questioned, looking at Fabio with a hopeful expression.

"What she look like?" Fabio asked.

Kendall picks up a nearby picture of him, Katie, and their mom. She points at their mom, showing the picture to Fabio. Fabio nods. "Not bad. But I have a grill to deliver to Azusa, so I can't promise you anything."

Fabio leaves and Andi furrows her eyebrows when Logan and James suddenly rush over to them. She noticed that James was also wearing a tree hat. The two looked like they were about to say something but stopped and looked behind them at Fabio.

"So did you guys find a date to the dance?" Kendall asked them.

Logan and James look at each other before looking at Kendall. "We need a little help."

Before she knew it, it was time to get ready for the dance. Andi was having trouble deciding what to wear and couldn't make a decision so she called Jo.

"What's up, Andi?" Jo answered the phone after the first ring.

"Help!" Andi exclaims worriedly. "I have no clue what to wear to the dance. You gotta come over and help me decide."

"Sure." Jo responds. "I'll be over in a few minutes."

A few minutes later, there was a knock at the front door to the apartment and Andi answers it, relieved to see Jo. "Thank you, Jo." She grabs her wrist and drags her into her bedroom. "I need all the help I can get. I never been to a dance before. Like, what do I wear?" She let go of Jo's wrist, gesturing to the different clothes on her bed. "Should I wear a dress or pants or...?"

She looks at Jo with wide, pleading eyes. "Please help me. I feel like I'm going insane. And it's all because I'm worried about what to wear to a dance. I never worry about what to wear." She groans, covering her face with her hands. "This boy is driving me crazy."

Jo chuckled at Andi's frantic state, but there was something reassuring in her calm demeanor. She stepped forward, gently taking Andi's hands from her face and forcing her to meet her eyes. "Okay, first of all, he is not the problem. You're stressing yourself out, but you got this."

Andi groaned, flopping back onto the bed in a dramatic fashion. "Easy for you to say. You're always so put together."

Jo scoffs. "Please, not always." She sat down next to her and leaning over to pick up a dress from the bed. It was a deep navy blue, with delicate lace along the neckline and a flowy skirt. "This one," Jo said confidently, holding it up in front of Andi. "This will make you feel like a million bucks without overdoing it. Plus, it's elegant and simple, but still has enough personality to show you didn't just throw something on at the last minute."

Andi sat up, looking at the dress, then back at Jo, her hands nervously wringing together. "But... What if he doesn't like it?"

Jo gave her a playful side-eye. "Andi, if he's worth your time, he'll like you no matter what you wear. Trust me, this is all about how you feel, not about impressing anyone." She handed the dress to Andi, her tone softening a little. "But you will look incredible in it, just so you know. I'm sure no matter what you will wear, Kendall will love it. I'm pretty sure you could wear a paper bag and he would still think you were the most beautiful girl at the dance." She reassured her.

"Wait, I'm not going with Kendall." Andi tells her, lowering her hands. She furrows her eyebrows, wondering why Jo thought she was going with Kendall. "Why would you think I was going with Kendall?"

Jo shrugs. "You mentioned you had a crush on him and it's obvious that you guys like each other so I just figured that you two would be going together." She explains, looking at Andi with a curious expression. "But if you're not going with Kendall, then who are you going with?" She asks, her curiosity piqued.

Andi blushes, feeling a little shy. "Um, actually, I'm going with Jax Anderson." She admitted, a shy smile tugging at her lips. She hadn't told Jo about her date with Jax yet, and she wasn't sure how her friend would react.

Jo's eyes widen in surprise, and she lets out an excited squeal. "Oh my gosh, that's amazing!" She exclaims, her face lighting up with excitement. "Jax Anderson? The Jax Anderson? The super talented and incredibly handsome singer-songwriter?" She asks, unable to contain her excitement. "And you're going to the dance with him?" She repeated, still in disbelief.

Andi nods, feeling a little bashful at Jo's reaction. "Yeah, he asked me earlier today, and I mean, it took me awhile to decide, but I said yes." She admits, her cheeks flushing pink at the memory of their conversation. "I'm really excited about it, but I'm also kind of nervous." She confesses, biting her lip anxiously. "I've never been to a dance with anyone before and I'm worried I'll ruin everything by making a fool of myself." She sighs, running a hand through her hair. "I just want everything to be perfect."

"Andi, I promise you, you're not going to ruin anything." Jo smiles reassuringly, giving Andi's shoulders a comforting squeeze. "Don't worry, Andi. You'll be fine." She assures her, her tone gentle and reassuring. "Jax seems like a really nice guy, and I'm sure he likes you just the way you are." She adds, giving her friend an encouraging smile. "Just be yourself, and everything will be great."

Andi smiles gratefully at Jo, feeling a little more at ease. "Thanks, Jo. I really appreciate your support." She says, her voice filled with gratitude. "I'm really lucky to have a friend like you." She added, giving Jo a warm hug.

Jo returns the hug, squeezing Andi tightly. "Anytime, Andi. I'm always here for you." She says, her tone sincere. "Now, let's get you all dolled up for tonight!" She grinned, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

Andi got on the navy dress she decided on with Jo's help. The top part was lace while the bottom of it was a flowy fabric. There was a floral pattern scattered on the dress. Jo also helped her with her makeup and hair and Andi helped her out with her makeup and hair too. Jo had went back to her apartment to get her dress to change before Andi had started on her makeup on hair. Andi was relieved she had Jo's help since she wouldn't know the first thing on how to do makeup and hair.

The two girls were finally ready for the dance, looking at themselves in the mirror. Andi was shocked that she was even staring at herself. She had never felt so beautiful and confident before. She had Jo to thank for helping her out and making her feel more at ease about the dance.

Andi looks at Jo with a grateful smile. "Thank you for the help, Jo. I appreciate it a lot. Without you, I would've gone in there looking like a complete mess."

"No problem." Jo grins, giving her a small wink. "You're going to have a great time at the dance, I know it."

"I hope you're right." Andi sighs. "So, who did you say you were going to the dance with?" She curiously asked. She didn't remember Jo telling her earlier, and she was curious to know.

"His name is Keith Cruz, he's an actor I've worked with a few times before." Jo explains, a shy smile tugging at her lips. "He's really sweet and funny, and I'm really excited about the dance."

"Oh, so is he like a boyfriend or..." Andi trailed off, a hint of teasing in her tone, noticing Jo's flustered expression.

Jo shyly tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear, avoiding Andi's gaze. "No, not yet anyway...I'm hoping maybe after the dance?" She fidgets with her bracelet. "We've been spending a lot of time together lately, and he's just...I don't know how to explain it, but I really like being around him."

"Well, good luck." Andi grins. "I hope it goes well."

"Thanks, me too." Jo replied with a soft smile.

Andi grabs her phone when she got a text and she felt giddy when she saw that it was from Jax. "Oh, he's here." She smiles, looking at Jo. "I'll see you there."

"I'll meet you there." Jo grins, nudging her. "Have fun."

"You too." Andi responded, nudging her back with a matching grin before leaving the apartment. Jo left with her and went back to her apartment to wait for Keith to pick her up. Andi's heart flutters at seeing Jax in the lobby. He hadn't seen her yet, he was facing away from her and was looking at his phone. She walks up behind him and covers his eyes, smiling. "Guess who."

"Hmm..." Jax trails off, pretending to think. "Is it my dream girl?"

Andi feels her face flush, and she lets out a soft giggle. "That depends, what's your dream girl like?" She teased, her tone light and playful as stepped back.

"Well, she has medium long beautiful brown hair, brown eyes that have those little specks of gold in them that make them sparkle when the light hits them just right. And even though we don't know each other well she has this way of making me feel like we've been friends forever. She also is standing behind me right now." Jax turns slowly, his eyes widening as he took in Andi's appearance. He let out a low whistle. "But wow...You look..." He trailed off, shaking his head slightly. "Stunning doesn't even cover it."

Andi's heart skips a beat as Jax's gaze lingered on her, his eyes softening with admiration. His words, though simple, carried so much weight, and she couldn't help but feel a warmth spreading through her chest. "Thanks," She said softly, a shy smile tugging at her lips. "I, uh, wasn't sure if this was too much, but I'm glad you like it."

Jax took a step closer, his eyes never leaving hers. "It's perfect. You look..." He shakes his head. "I don't even have the words for it. Just—perfect. Definitely not too much. I should be worried now, because I think I'm the one who's underdressed." He chuckled, his voice a bit teasing but also full of admiration. He took a slow, appreciative look at Andi again, his eyes tracing the curves of her dress, the way the floral pattern danced in the light.

Andi felt a sudden rush of confidence at his words, her nerves starting to fade away. She laughed softly, a playful twinkle in her eye. "Well, I think you look pretty great yourself," She admits. He wore a black leather jacket over a crisp white shirt and dark jeans—casual yet effortlessly cool, fitting him perfectly. "Like, really handsome." She added softly, her cheeks flushing pink again.

Jax rubs the back of his neck, a faint blush rising on his cheeks. "Thanks," He murmurs, his gaze dropping briefly to his worn boots before snapping back up to hers. "I wasn't sure if it was too...Simple." His voice wavered slightly, the admission surprising him—he wasn't usually one to second-guess his style. What was this girl doing to him? He was still trying to wrap his head around how effortlessly she made him feel both confident and vulnerable at the same time.

Andi gave him a soft smile, noticing the subtle change in his demeanor. "Trust me, you look amazing. The whole 'effortlessly cool' thing? You've nailed it." She winked at him, feeling more at ease with each passing second. It was like they were in their own little bubble, everything else fading away.

Jax laughs lightly, his blush deepening a little. "Well, I guess we're both going for the 'effortlessly stunning' vibe then."

Andi's blush deepens at his comment, heart skipping a beat as Jax's words linger in the air. The way he looked at her, with that mix of admiration and genuine warmth, made her feel like she was floating, like nothing else in the world mattered at that moment. "I guess so," She replies softly, her voice barely above a whisper. Her heart flutters, and she couldn't help but smile. "You're making me blush so much." She teased, trying to cover her nerves with a light laugh.

Jax grins, his gaze never leaving hers. "I think you're already blushing before I even do anything." He teased back, stepping closer. His proximity made Andi's breath catch slightly, but it felt natural, like they had been this close for ages.

"Shut up." Andi playfully punches his arm, her laughter bubbling up despite the warmth spreading across her cheeks. "Just admit you're nervous too." She challenged, noticing the slight tremor in his fingers as he brushed hair away from his forehead. She wasn't sure where she got this sudden confidence from, but she loved how easy it was to joke with him, to share these little moments. It made everything feel less intimidating.

Jax shrugs as he led her through the lobby outside to the parking lot. "Okay, fine. This whole dance thing...It's kinda new territory," He confesses, his eyes locking onto hers. "I usually just play guitar in the corner at events, not actually participate." His grin falters for a split second, revealing a hint of vulnerability beneath the cool-guy exterior. "And now I'm showing up with you. That's...Intimidating."

"Please, I'm nothing special. Just Big Time Rush's songwriter. You're the guy who is an overnight sensation, everyone loves you." Andi shrugs, trying to downplay the situation, though she could feel the nervous energy building between them. Her voice faltered slightly as she spoke. "I mean, I'm just...Me. I'm not some big star or anything."

Jax laughs softly, stepping closer again, this time leaning in a little, his eyes never leaving hers. "And yet, here you are, making me feel like I need to step up my game." He pauses, a playful smirk tugging at his lips. "Maybe we're both just a little intimidated by each other, huh?"

Andi looks up at him, her heart racing faster. She could feel the chemistry between them, like an electric charge hanging in the air. The way his gaze softened, the way he spoke to her—it was different from how she'd imagined any of this going. "Maybe," She admits, her voice quieter now, but not out of uncertainty. There was something comforting in his honesty, something that made her feel like they were in this together. She glances up, catching the warmth in his eyes. "But I'm glad I'm here with you."

Jax perks up, a sense of relief washing over him as the tension melted away. "Yeah?" He asks, almost like he was surprised, though he didn't look it. "Well, I'm definitely glad you're here too." He took a step back, offering her his arm with a playful tilt of his head. "Shall we?"

Andi's breath hitches as she smiled, feeling the moment shift from nervous anticipation to something lighter. "We shall." She said, her voice full of confidence now, despite the fluttering in her chest. They get to where his parked motorcycle is. She's surprised. She didn't know what to expect they would be going to the dance in. But she never been in a motorcycle before.

"We're going to the dance on that?" She couldn't hide her nerves as she eyed the sleek black motorcycle. The thought of riding on it, especially in her dress, felt daunting. "I've never been on one before."

Jax chuckles softly, handing her a spare helmet. "First time for everything," He says, his tone reassuring. "Hold onto me tight, and don't let go. I promise I won't go too fast." He secures his own helmet while Andi fumbled with hers. Her fingers trembles slightly as she tried to figure out how to get the helmet on right. He chuckled lightly, walking over to her and gently adjusting the strap under her chin, his fingers brushing her skin. His touch sent a warm shiver down her spine. "There," He murmurs. "Now you're ready."

The engine roared to life beneath them as Andi climbed on behind him, the vibrations humming through her legs. She wrapped her arms around his waist, pressing close against the cool leather of his jacket. The evening air rushed past as they pulled away from the curb, the city lights blurring into streaks of gold and red. Andi squeezed her eyes shut at first, then slowly opened them, mesmerized by the exhilarating blend of speed and intimacy—her dress fluttering wildly around her knees, her heart pounding in sync with the engine's rhythm.

The wind whipped through Andi's hair, pulling it free from her carefully styled updo, the strands tangling wildly as they sped down the streets. The sound of the engine roaring beneath them felt almost like a heartbeat of its own, pulsing with each twist of the throttle, and the vibrations resonated through her entire body. At first, she held on tightly, her arms wrapped securely around Jax's waist as he guided the motorcycle through the bustling streets.

The sensation of being so close to him, the warmth of his back pressing against her chest, sent a jolt of heat through her that had nothing to do with the wind rushing past. The city lights flickered in the distance, turning into long streaks of neon and gold. Andi couldn't help but feel the rush of adrenaline coursing through her veins as the motorcycle picked up speed, the road opening up in front of them like a dark river, leading them into an adventure that felt both thrilling and terrifying. Her dress fluttered in the wind, the fabric whipping around her legs, the edges grazing her skin as they flew through the night.

With each turn, she felt the tightness in her grip relax, the initial nerves ebbing away as she became more comfortable with the rhythm of the ride. The cold air kissed her skin, sending shivers down her spine, but it felt invigorating, like it was clearing her mind of everything except the present moment. She tilted her head slightly, feeling the wind on her face, and for a split second, everything felt like it was in perfect harmony—the motorcycle, the city, and the electric charge between them.

Andi pressed herself closer to Jax, instinctively responding to the pull of gravity as they banked into a curve. The way he handled the bike, the smoothness with which he controlled every move, made her feel safe, even as the world rushed by. It was like they were part of some secret, high-speed dance, her body moving with his, following the motions without even thinking about it. Her hands, once tentative, had now found a steady hold, her fingers splayed against the cool leather of his jacket.

The breeze carried a scent of something fresh, maybe from the distant ocean, maybe just the mix of night air and the city's hum. But whatever it was, it felt like freedom—an exhilarating rush that wrapped around her like the night sky itself, the cool, open air a stark contrast to the warmth of the proximity between them.

Jax's voice cut through the noise of the wind when they slowed, though it was a bit muffled through the helmet. "You good back there?" He asked, his tone amused but with a hint of concern, as though he could feel her slight tension still.

Andi laughs, her voice breathless with excitement. "Yeah, I'm good," She shouts back, her grin wide beneath the helmet. "I think I'm starting to see why you like this so much!"

Jax's next words broke through the night, full of playful mischief. "I guess I'm gonna have to bring you on more rides then."

Andi's heart skips again at his words, and she can't help but laugh. "Yeah, I would love that!"

For a moment, Andi let herself forget everything. The tightness in her chest, the nerves she'd felt earlier—they all seemed to dissolve as the bike cut through the night air. It was just the wind, the rhythm of the engine, and Jax. She could feel the warmth of his body beneath her, the pulse of his movements guiding her through each twist and turn, and it was strangely comforting.

The city, once so vast and overwhelming, now felt small and intimate. Andi found herself smiling under the helmet, her eyes sparkling even though she could barely see her surroundings. She was simply enjoying the ride—the pure rush of it—as the night sped past them, and the world seemed to shrink to just the two of them. It was almost like the rest of reality had fallen away, leaving only the sounds of the motorcycle's engine and the rhythmic thumping of her heart.

The night air rushed past them, wild and free, and Andi could hardly believe how alive she felt in this moment. The bike took them down streets that she'd passed a thousand times, but now they felt different—more magical, as if everything was new and exciting, just because she was experiencing it with Jax. The city was just a blur of lights and sound, but it felt like they were the only two people in the world. With Jax, everything felt more alive—more vibrant. She couldn't remember the last time she'd felt so free, so unburdened.

It was as if all her worries, her doubts, and insecurities had been swept away in the wind, leaving only the feeling of the moment—the rush of adventure, the thrill of connection. And with Jax so close, the world felt perfectly in sync. All that mattered now was the ride, the night, and the undeniable spark between them.
