Daydream [J-Hope]

Daydream [J-Hope]
I was arguing with Dad over which of us would go for the grocery shopping with Mom and she managed to get me out for it anyway.
We were at the Walmart's, and Mom had enough of me only within ten minutes of us entering because all I did was: walking by her side with my hand tucked in my pocket and another occupied with my phone.
"You're of no good, Y/N," she muttered. "Why don't you just go for the food corner and grab something for snacks instead of tailing me without holding the cart?"
"Okay. Frozen pizza?"
"And some sausage and drinks, please." I was about to turn until she said, "grab some cheddar cheese on your way."
I nodded and left to clutch at a cart from the corner.
I was on my way until when my shoulder bumped hard on a guy from the back. He shifted from his position almost immediately, facing me as I reached for his pack of spicy cup noodle which descended on the floor because of the bump.
"I'm so sorry," I said as my gaze moved up to his face.
"Ah- It's okay," he said, and I could see him smiling even though he had his mask on because of his cheeks rising up and eyes faintly crinkling up at the corners.
My eyes got widened unnaturally as I scanned his merely visible facial features.
"I think I heard you somewhere." I said without giving it a second thought which was somewhat weird.
I handed him the noodle and he took it.
"Do I know you?" I asked, leaning some inches closer, arching a brow.
Okay, suspicion was growing inside me but I was reacting awkwardly which was both unwanted and unexpected.
His eyes flickered to my left wrist on top of the sleeve where my hoody had a red heart woven with some letters beside. I was wearing my favorite black zip-up hoody which mom bought me on my last birthday. His eyes seemed to get widened but they shrinked back to normal as they met mine.
"Mayb- Yeah. I-I mean no." He was stuttering. "You don't know me." He smiled, again.
"Could you please put off that mask for a while? No, for like just a second?" I said, mimicking the action with both my hands on me.
"Please don't gather public or I'll just run away." I could tell he was frightened by the way I was behaving.
"Could you please put off that mask for a while?" I repeated.
And my world collapsed.
"I knew it was you, Hobi." I whispered as my hands moved up to my mouth and eyes prepared themselves to pop out of their socket.
My phone vibrated against my jeans' pocket when I realized I was not daydreaming, neither did I bother pulling it out to answer.
"Yeah, don't stare at me like that." He said as he hurried his mask back on, and yet again he seemed frightened. "Wanna walk the streets with me for a while?"
I was not sure of I heard him right so I just blinked in confusion and stood still, waiting for my heart to stop throbbing violently against my chest.
He placed the noodle back on it's shelf and pulled me out of the mart. Yes, he pulled me.
We were out into the busy streets of New York City within a blink, walking side by side.
"So.. where do we go now?" He said, pulling his hand out of mine only to fish a pair of glasses out and slide his hand back to mine.
"I still can't believe you're right here, beside me," I said and a shy smile sprawled over my face.
"Shall I pinch you or something?" He said and giggled a bit.
"Uh- why not?" I replied.
He didn't pinch. He just squeezed the hand he was holding on to. "I can't hurt an ARMY," he said. "Where are you taking me? I don't know any place around here."
"I-I don't know. How about finding some quiet place to sit an-"
"And have a meal," he completed, showing a thumbs up. "I left the noodle in it's shelf and now that I'm hungry, you're going to treat me with spaghetti and Sprite."
"That would be of great pleasure. There's a Korean restaurant just a block away and it is supposed to be empty by this time." We walked down the street, quietly. Even though I had walked through that street and into the restaurant for God knows how many times, I was looking around the entire place as if I had never been there before.
Greeting the familiar old couple behind the counter, we walked to a table beside one of the large windows they had, showing a small garden the couple had built a long time ago.
"It'd be awkward if I don't say, 'I'm your hope, you're my hope, I'm J-HOPE,' right now," he said chuckling as he took his glasses off, followed by his mask. "But I'd rather introduce myself as Jung Hoseok, and you are?"
A young lady approached to our table and with a bow, she politely took the orders we had placed. He was clear with what he wanted: spaghetti and Sprite, whereas I ended up getting myself a tray of Korean breakfast; unsure if I could gulp down a single food particle in front of the guy.
"You didn't answer," he crept out after the lady had left.
"Uh- what?"
"Your name?" I saw a bright smile crossing his face. I was watching him smiling for the millionth time in my life. But seeing him smile right in front, with my bare eyes, hit different. He had a flawless, pale, creamy skin which only looked more glowy and beautiful up close.
"I'm Y/N," I said and managed to smile, trying not to look like an idiot.
"Hey, Y/N, please stable up. I'm also a human being and running in to me is merely an incident anyone could be in, and trust me, I feel kinda lucky that it was you. How about living this moment until we can?"
"Why'd you feel lucky?" I asked and a light chuckle broke out of me.
"It could be someone else who'd, you know, bump into me and then gather media and make a fuss out of everything, destroying my privacy. Moreover, it wasn't announced that I'll be in here."
That was when I realized he didn't update about being out of Seoul. "Yeah, why are you here? And where are the others?"
"A small surprise for the ARMY, perhaps? And the boys are in Seoul." He winked.
Our foods arrived and luckily he decided to exchange my chopsticks with his fork as if he already knew how horrible I was with the chopstick thing.
"I still do wonder why the fanbase is so devoted to us." He blurted out as he gulped down some of his spaghetti. "I mean, I've met artists, and they're so talented and popular, and they own a huge fanbase but the fans seem to change their track of idols after a particular period of time. And we are small city boys. Not that I'm flexing or something."
"Maybe they failed to return the amount of love their fans gave them," I continued. "Or it maybe their music which failed to satisfy the fans with it's message."
He looked unsatisfied with my answer. "You want some tofu on top of your bowl?"
"Why not?" His lips curved up on the side to form a faint smirk. I was barely eating so I passed some meatballs along with the tofu and he didn't seem to complain. There's no no when it comes to food in case of them which I knew well after so many years of adoring them.
"Tell me why do you stan us," he said as he shoved a meatball inside his mouth.
I looked up at him and was thinking about the easiest answer I could possibly come up with. "Because y'all make me happy and human beings are found to love the ones who make them happy."
The day was amazing and fun. It still felt like some magical dream which I'd like to cherish for the rest of my life and I hoped for him to just remember me for a long time.
Returning home, I found a piece of sticky note peeking from the inside of my phone case while putting my phone for charging.
It had written:
Y/N, you're beautiful and I hope to run in to you tomorrow at the Korean Cuisine's at 10.00 in the morning ;)
