Chapter 9-Step 4: Have Your First Date
Delayed updaaaaate! Sorry!!!
___________________________________________________________________________
I didn’t know what to feel about the school trip. To me, the events were somewhat blurry. My first school trip must be important to me, yeah. But I couldn’t see nor feel the significance of that school trip. Well, it’s a little important because now, I know that Gray isn’t mad at me. The weird thing is that I feel like everything that had happened were just a dream, and I just woke up.
Speaking of waking up, a text from Erza made my eyes open in an instant. I didn’t want noise, and so I ignored it and went back to sleep. But my dear friends, Erza was persistent. She texted me again. I knew she wasn’t going to stop until I reply to her texts. Cursing, I checked the time on my phone. I scowled when I saw that it was only 3 in the morning. Who on earth would text anyone at this time? Apparently, it’s Erza. I looked out the window to see that it was still dark out there before turning my attention back to my cellphone to see Erza’s urgent text.

Hey, I’ve got something to tell you.
2:54 AM
You awake?
2:56 AM
WAKE UP!
3:00 AM
I’m waiting. . .
°°
Annoyed, I replied “Thanks for waking me up.” sarcastically.

You’re very welcome! :) You ready to hear the news?
°°
“Whatever that is, I’m starting to not care. Spill it before I throw my phone away!” I texted back. She had the wrong timing of waking me up so she’ll suffer because of my sour mood. I can imagine her frowning because of my behavior.

Okay then. Ask him to date you today. Yes, you read it right. Date him today, and DO NOT STOP DATING UNTIL 9 PM.
°°
My jaw dropped. What the fudge? Gray was supposed to be the one to ask me out. He’s the boy, and I’m the girl. And if I ask him out, I’ll turn out to be the boy. But this is a part of the dare, and I promised to do everything she tells me. I just hope that she will never tell me to do something... you know, something dirty.
I sighed, typing my reply. “All right.”

Really? Okay! I’ll help with your preparations ;)

I just rolled my eyes.

The next morning, I woke up with me scowling at the really bright sunlight. Totally infuriated for no reason (maybe because of the fact that I’m not a morning person), I climbed downstairs and shouted, “Where’s breakfast?” I was hungry now, and I didn’t want to pass out for skipping a meal.
Mom came out of the kitchen and quirked an eyebrow at me. Her face showed antipathy. “Dear, it’s already 1 in the afternoon. You have skipped your breakfast, and you’re about to skip lunch. What do you say? You want to have brunch already?” She pursed her lips, one thing that she really liked to do when pissed off. “The fact that you’re not yet taking a bath is disgusting. You’re smelly.” She brought a hand to her nose, her face scrunched up.
I heaved a sigh. “Don’t blame me. Blame Erza. She woke me up early in the morning so I had a hard time waking up.”
She waved her hands a sign of dismissal. “Yeah, yeah. Just go take a bath after eating. Erza dropped some things off here, and told me to tell you that you should get ready...” Mom trailed off, suddenly not knowing what to say. “... for something.” Oh shoot. The date. I should ask Gray after I take a bath.
After taking a bath, I checked my phone and saw that I had twenty-six missed calls from Erza. Something laid on my bed too. It was a sea green dress. Simple but elegant. I couldn’t help but frown. I was uneasy whenever I wear dresses. The good thing about this dress was that it reached below the knee.
I quickly put on the dress and tried to find Gray on my contact list. But something hit me: I didn’t have his number. We were the most unique couple, I know. So annoying. What would I do now? I couldn’t text him.
A message popped on, and it was from an unregistered number.

From: Unknown Number
2:15 PM
This is Gray. Uh, Erza gave me your number. She said we have a date, and you planned it. Is that true? Reply ASAP.
°°
I immediately saved his number on my phone and replied: “Well yeah. I had a date planned up.” I’m already ashamed of myself. First of all, I am not a boy to invite him to a date. Second, I never planned a date!
°°
From: Gray
2:18 PM
Okay. I’ll come pick you up.
°°
Well at least he would pick me up.
I waited for him and after twenty minutes, the doorbell rang. I assumed it was him. Oh no. Mom shouldn’t know about our date! I quickly ran downstairs, and my shoulder slouched at the sight of mom talking with Gray at the front porch. Ugh.
“Juvia, sweetie. You never told me you had a date with Gray!” I slowly looked at Gray, and saw that he was wearing casual clothes: sea green polo shirt, blue jeans, and white sneakers. Natural look, I’d say, but it was perfect.
I blushed and tore my gaze away from him. “Uh, sorry. Mom, we have to go.” I hauled Gray away.
Before I could even leave the gate, I heard mom shouting: “Behave and don’t do something dirty! Be back before 8:30!” It was an early curfew, but that was because mom worried about me too much.
But considering what she said... my face was flushed. Why would we even do something like that?! I don’t even take our relationship seriously.
I realized that I was still holding his arm (not his hand) when he cleared his throat awkwardly. Well, we weren’t the type to hold hands. Not the romantic type of couple, to put it together. I let go of his hands. I stopped walking when I realized that he had... a motorcycle. “Wear this.” He said, giving me a helmet. There was a coat hung up on his motorcycle, and he gave it to me. I cocked an inquisitive eyebrow. “Put it on.” But it was really hot! Suddenly, he blushed. “We’re riding a motorcycle, so your dress might...” I put on the coat. He was right.
He was the first one to sit on the motorcycle. I hesitantly sat behind him too. There was no way I could wrap my arms around hi—
“Idiot. I don’t want you to fall. Your mom will kill me.” He grabbed my hands and wrapped it around him. Why is it hotter now? I became startled when the engine roared to life, and when he started zooming on the highway, I just screamed.
**
“What are we going to do?” He asked, looking at clothes. Shopping? I had no idea. I really hated shopping.
“Since we’re here at the mall, why don’t we watch a movie?” He groaned at the word movie. I guess he hated them. “Why don’t you want a movie?” I inquired.
“Not really. I’m thinking that this is our first date, so I’m just trying to calm my nerves down. This is the first time I’ll be watching a movie with a girl.” Is he nervous?
We ended up arguing about the movie genre, and in the end, I won. I used the blackmailing method.
“What romantic movie?” He queried in a bored tone. I smirked when I saw a movie that caught my attention and I dragged him inside.
**
“No, please don’t do this.” I was crying already. I expected Gray to give me a tissue or something, but he didn’t. Annoyed, I looked at him and saw him sleeping. What the.
“Juvia...” He mumbled in his sleep. My face reddened when his face came close. Goodness, he’s giving me a heart attack.
I slightly pushed his head away, but then he came near again. “Wake up, you moron.” I pushed his forehead with my index finger making him wide awake. At that exact same moment, the credits of the movie flashed on the screen. I rolled my eyes at him. “You wasted my money. You slept all throughout the movie!” I stood up, slinging my bag over my shoulder. Yeah, I was the one who paid for the movies. He forgot his wallet, that’s why I need to be the one to pay for everything. And when I mean everything, it’s everything. “My savings...” I whimpered, too afraid that I’ll make my wallet empty.
“Sorry...” He mumbled as we went out the cinema. What, we’re gonna eat dinner and I’m gonna pay for it? I gave him a gander. He was finding something in his pocket. “Oh, I thought I forgot my wallet.” He smiled at me apologetically. “I’m the one who’s gonna pay for dinner.”
“The money I paid for the cinema?” I flailed my arms in the air.
He looked a little dismayed. “Yeah, you’re really my girlfriend.” I don’t know why, but that made me blush. I watched him get some money on his wallet and handed it to me. “Here you go.” I snatched it from him.
I don’t know why, but I feel like smiting him and so I did. He winced in pain, but all I did was chortle. “What was that for?” I ignored him and dragged him to a nearby restaurant. I could be a little bipolar sometimes.
“You two are such cute couples!!” A waitress giggled at the sight of us. I could deny it, but I wonder why I didn’t.
We sat at a table near the window. The view outside the window quite amused me, for some reason.
“Your orders?” A waiter asked politely. I turned to him and flashed him a bright smile.
“Pasta and milkshake.” I told him. Gray also told him his order after I did.
“I guess your favorite is pasta and milkshake.” He was trying to converse with me so it wouldn’t be awkward, huh. It wasn’t awkward for me, actually. But for him yes.
I grinned. “Yup. How’d you know?” I popped the ‘p’. I rested my chin on my palm.
“You were smiling when you ordered it.” He said, shrugging.
And there was tranquility again. In our table, that is.
