The last lesson of the day was history. Frankly, Ash didn't give one shit about who did what 100 years ago but his grades were good enough that he still payed attention and the teacher lowkey praised him.
He was early for class as per-usual, watching the slow stream of students slip through the door. All gossiping, bitching about friends, talking about the upcoming football match, all the points simply just words to fill up the silences. You got no drama, you got nothing to say.
He sat like this for five minutes, the teacher walked in after 3, with each minute trickling past as he sat there alone.
The bell cut through the chatter finally and the teacher cleared her throat as she repositioned herself on her desk.
"Today we shall be studying the siege- ".
The door slammed open and rebounded off the wall, and in walked Sky. She spat a wad of gum in the bin before marching down the isle and flopping into a chair at the very back.
"Hello Miss...?' The teacher crained her neck to get a better look at the new student.
"Sky. The names Sky." She glared back, pulling back her hood and sighing.
"Right well then Sky, welcome to our school. As I was saying.."
And that's about as far as Ash paid attention to, the next half of the lesson was just him doodling on his book, he drew an eye, maybe it was Gerard's or maybe it was Frank's' or neither, but it was a lesson well spent anyway.
That was until something hit the back of his chair, he heard it fall to the floor and turned around in his seat to glare behind him. He was met by that girl, Sky, smirking and doing a small wave. He rolled his eyes, ofcourse it was her. God fucking dammit.
She smirked again, mouthing 'pick it up' across the classroom. He scooted round in his seat and reached down onto the floor to get the paper ball under his chair.
Unraveling it, a crumpled 5 dollar note fell out onto his lap and smoothing out the paper was a scrawled handwriting.

Hey you probs don't even know me but u seem like a decent kid,
Here's 5 dollars to get yourself a cookie or something u look lonely.
U never told me ur name too.
Or did you? I can't remember.
Sky

Well that was unexpected, the five dollars felt like a crime record in his hands. He never got anything like this, what was this girl on about? And besides, he was not lonely, he was doing just fine on his own. Friends required talking and talking meant effort, so far as Ash was concerned, life should be the least effort possible.
And this Sky girl was definitely far more effort than she was worth, and trouble too.
Giving back the money seemed like a reasonable option, so he waited.
When the bell finally rang for end of lesson people practicly jumped out of their half dozing states and sprinted out the door.
Ash swerved in and out of the crowd, weaving into the corridor to catch up with the black hoodie disappearing into the crowd.
God dammit she was fast.
And Ash was probably the most unfit creature at this school, not used to going above the standard strolling pace. He'd already run twice today for gods sake.
By the time he made it out the schools doors she was just heading down the steps, cigarette and lighter already out of her pocket.
He surged forward, bounding down the steps after her. She stopped on the curb, lighting the cigarette between her teeth, just as he pulled up behind her out of breath.
She took a long drag.
"So what's the deal?"
She turned around to face him, tendrils of smoke floating from between her lips with every syllable.
He held out the dollar note in his gloved hands, feeling something short of an idiot for not thinking this through.
"You don't want it?" She said, the cigarette already making another trip back to her mouth.
He shook his head as she gently slid it from between his fingers.
"Ok kiddo, whatever you say."
She replied, tucking the note into a pocket of her jeans.
"What's your name?" She asked, handing him a a piece of paper as she said it,
"You don't have to speak if you want, just write it down."
Gladly he took the paper and pulled the pencil from his jeans, scribbling a quick 'Ash' onto the paper and handing it back.
"Nice," she exclaimed as she crumpled it up and tossed it into a nearby trash can "I'll see you around kid."
She walked across the road then and around the corner, he watched her as she did.
Well then. That's the start of it. I'm fucked.
Home. He needed to be in the safety of his room right now. Too much human interaction for one day, and fast walking. That shit was tiring.
So Ash plugged his headphones back in and blasted the loudest MCR songs there was.
