CHAPTER FIVE
Fury couldn't help but sigh at the supposed 'Earth's Mightiest Heroes' before him. Major Jackson was spinning around on one of the seats, Peter-- who shouldn't even be there-- was waving around the director's spare belt screaming "I am Leo! Give me Skittles!" while Tony desperately searched for the fire extinguisher. Barton somehow goaded Romanov into a thumb war, and Dr. Banner tried to explain who David Hasselhoff was to Captain Rogers.
What had he gotten himself into?
"Hey! Knock it off!" he growled, prompting the heroes to scramble to their seats, hands folded in front of them.
"Yes sir, pirate sir!"
"Cut, Parker, or I'll have Coulson take away your secret secret stash of Coke."
He gasped, "You wouldn't dare take my babies!"
"Try me, Spider Boy."
"It's Spider Man."
"Yeah, and I'm a cyclops," Major Jackson snorted.
"Well..."
"Don't even finish that thought." The glare the major shot Peter could have rivaled Daddy Fury's himself, God rest his soul.
Fury cleared his throat loudly. "As I was saying, Major Jackson has accepted the offer to join the Avenger's Initiative, making the total six members. And now, on to the folders I sat before you."
Percy flipped through his before looking at Fury. "Can I get this in Ancient Greek?"
"Ooh! Ditto!" Peter said excitedly.
"I'll third that."
Fury glared. "I'm starting to think this team doesn't appreciate all the work I put into these packets."
The entire room started to protest, except Stark. "On the nosey, Director!"
Fury's glare shut him up quick.
"These highly important folders contain information on the enemy, Loki Odinson, and his mysterious contacts."
Percy raised an eyebrow. "Director, ya know that Loki has little man's disease, and he's working with the new Baron Zemo-- who has total daddy issues-- and 'Zee Skall!!!', right?"
Fury blinked. "How the hell did you know that?"
"Face it, Super Spy, the Major's good," Peter said with a little giggle.
"Bill and Private Joker were very helpful."
"Who?"
Percy waved him off. "You had to be there to understand. Long story short, I can be very persuasive."
"..."
"What? You asked."
"Shut up, Major."
Percy pouted, turning eyes Fury could only liken to baby seals on him. Peter giggled, yes giggled, while Stark looked on with doey eyes and a camera to capture it all.
"Oh Mom is going to love this picture."
Major Jackson glared at Stark as he scrambled across the table. "You are not going to show that woman my seal eyes, Baby Howard! She'll send it to Hades to show my mother, or worse." He shuddered. "She'll at it to The Shrine."
"Fine! I won't give her the picture if you come to my latest product unveiling as my personal guest. That'll show those damn Hammer kids! Thinking that just because Step-Dad is their actual father they can beat me. Ha!"
Fury groaned. "For the love of all things holy, listen! Loki is in Stuttgart. Suit up; you're leaving in half an hour."
.
Upon entering the room SHIELD had given him, Percy was met with a bronze and leather chest plate and an alloy shield, note attached.
Here's a little something for helping my son and that SUPER CUTE PICTURE!!! You are too adorbs, Percy. Btw, your dad REALLY wants to talk to you soon. Tootles!
Aphrodite.
What was 'adorbs'?
Percy snorted at the shield; it was bronze, gold, and steel, done in the style of his old one from the war. Three feet diameter and engraved like Steve's style with the Olympian omega instead of a star. The edge was razor sharp too, unlike the captain's.
The chest plate held notes and signatures of all his long-dead friends, bringing tears to his eyes.
Don't die, Prissy.
As long as we're together.
THE MCSHIZZLE!!!!
He still had one friend he could avenge; one friend that he could do right by.
Watch out Zemo, here I come.
Watch yourself, Kelp Head. ~Death Breath
