Chapter No 8: Khadusmaan.

Dadi Sa bachao.

Kaveri heard Armaan say and she turned only to see Armaan climbing down the flight of stairs, a pang of worry hit her and she hurried towards Armaan.

Beta sambhal ker.

Kaveri said worriedly rushing up to Armaan as she watched him stumbling.

She hurried and held him.

Armaan sambhal ke beta. Lag jayegi Kya kerte ho tum.

Kaveri chided lightly, worry lines etched into her forehead.

Rishi peeche pada hai mere.

Armaan said after his breathing calmed slightly. Kaveri looked at him confused for a moment.

Shant ho ja bache.

Kaveri said with a small smile, her worry evident in her eyes.

Kya hua?

She asked, her eyes clouded with boundless worry.

ARMAAN!!!

Hearing Rishi,s scream, Kaveri understood what has happened and slapped her hand on her forehead.

Per woh tumhare peeche kyun pada hai?

Kaveri asked softly.

Pata nahin.

Armaan shrugged his shoulders confused.

Armaan.

Rishi semi yelled and Armaan stood behind Kaveri.

Kaveri crossed her arms across her chest and eyed Rishi.

Kya hua?

Kaveri asked raising an eyebrow. Rishi pouted dropping his hands on either sides.

Mujhe kyun nahin bataya?

Rishi asked disappointed as he looked at Kaveri.

Kaveri chuckled.

Poore parivar mein announcement nahin kerwani thi na iss liye nahin bataya.

Kaveri said with a tight smile, her arms still crossed across her chest.

Dadi sa itna bhi bura nahin hoon main.

Armaan and Kaveri rolled their eyes at his overdramatic nature.

Aisa nahin hai bas hum tumhein achi tarah se jante hain.

Kaveri said in a matter of fact tone and Rishi pouted again. Armaan chuckled softly.

Acha ab main chalta hoon. I have to get ready.

Armaan said softly and rushed upstairs.

On The Other Side!!!

Ker le na Abhira.

Abhira could hear Abhir from the phone, his tone pleading.

Per bhai...

Abhira trailed off not knowing how to refuse Abhir.

You had agreed.

Abhir said in a matter of fact tone. Abhira could imagine Abhir,s finger raised up in the air, a habit she had inherited from him.

Abhira sighed softly.

Okay sure.

Abhira said placing the watering cane down as she finished watering the plants in her balcony and walked back inside the room.

Good.

Abhir said from the other side and the call was disconnected.

Abhira sighed sinking down on the bed.

She tapped her finger over the ring in her right hand.

I'm a complete useless.

I'm just like him. There's no difference between us.

Abhira,s thoughts were chaotic and she felt her heart race in her chest.

You are just like him Abhira.

A complete useless.

Shukar manao ke chor nahin dia tumhein.

Tum mein aur usmein koi fark nahin hai.

Abhira felt her eyes welling up with tears. She could feel her anxieties raising. Her breathing rose and she gasped. She tried to stand up holding onto the bed post, her nails scratching against the bed post as she clung to it with all her might. Imagines danced in front of her eyes and she found herself holding onto her breath.

Hold for four (4)
Exhale for eight (8)

Abhira remembered the breathing technique Shruti had tought her.

A gasp escaped her lips, her face crumbled and her hand reached up, trembling. Shivers ran down her spine as she touched her cheek which was getting cold. She parted her lips in an attempt to use the technique but words refused to form, her mind raced, desperate to get some control over the situation. She didn't wanted Abhir to know about this. She can't trouble him with her problems.

She shut her eyes once again, her vision blurring because of tears and she let out a slow, trembling breath and slowly followed the breathing technique.

Once she was normal, she stood up from the bed and wiped her tears with the back of her palm.

On The Other Side!!!

Bye dadi sa. I'm leaving.

Armaan said softly kissing her cheek from behind.

Ruko.

Kaveri said gently and turned to face Armaan.

Manisha chachi came forward, a bowl filled with dahi shakar in her hands.

Have it.

Kaveri said softly as she held out a spoon of dahi shakar for him to eat. Armaan smiled and nodded his head in positive. It was a ritual everyone believed to be fortunate and out of respect, Armaan followed the ritual too. Armaan ate and Kaveri smiled. He bent down to touch her feet and Kaveri placed a hand on his head.

XYZ Cafe!!!

Abhira was sitting in the cafe. She didn't wanted to get anxious but couldn't help it. She took a trembling breath, her nervousness evident.

Abhira tapped her finger over the table and looked around feeling her anxieties raising. Abhira pleaded her mind to concentrate. There were 10 books on one shelf and 15 on the other.

Aye ajnabi tu bhi kabhi awaz de kahin se

There were children playing around, a little away from her table

Aye ajnabi tu bhi kabhi awaz de kahin se.

There were 2 big frame on the walls and 5 smaller ones and a mirror. The sparkly lights and motivational quotes on the walls seemed to calm her slightly.

Abhira tapped her foot against the floor in an anxious rhythm.

Abhira Sharma

Abhira looked up, her anxieties raising once again hearing the deep manly voice but she breathed deeply finding a seen figure.

Ji.

Abhira quickly got up, the familiar man in front of her calming her anxiety slightly. The sudden move from her had the table shaking, her one foot hit against the other and she bit the inside of her cheek to hold down the jolt of pain that coursed through her.

Clumsy.

Armaan thought, a hint of smile playing on his lips.

Are sambhal ker.

Armaan said concerned as he reached out and held her shivering hands in his. She looked at him, a little dazed, their eyes locked as aye ajnabi played on the speakers in the background.

Are you okay?

He asked leaving her hands softly. She stood on her feet straight and exhaled softly.

Sorry.

Abhira said with a sheepish smile tucking a lock of her hair behind her ear.

Armaan chuckled softly, the sound warm and comforting seemed to ease her slightly. She smiled back.

It's okay.

Armaan said softly and they sat on their seats.

Abhira smiled and looked at him.

There was a beat of silence.

So clumsy haan?

Armaan asked, a mischievous twinkle dancing in his eyes.

Abhira,s cheeks turned red out of embarrassment but she cleared her throat composing herself slightly

Abhira looked at him and then responded with a mischievous twinkle in the eyes

Yes Mr savior.

Armaan couldn't help but chuckle at the name she has given him since yesterday.

Order.

The waiter stood there and Abhira and Armaan looked at each other and then back at the waiter.

Latte.

They both said in unison and looked at each other while the waiter nodded his head in positive noting down the order on the notepad.

Anything else?

No.

They both again said in unison and looked at each other.

So Mr Savior huh?

Armaan asked with a twinkle in the eyes.

Abhira leaned back slightly, clenching her hands at her sides.

Yes.

Why?

Armaan asked keeping his hands on the table.

Because you saved me twice.

Abhira said, a soft smile gracing her lips which made his heart skip a beat.

So you are the one?

Abhira asked, a hint of curiosity evident in her tone.

Huh!!!

Armaan eyed her puzzled.

Jisko bhaiya ne mere liye choose kiya.

Abhira said smiling softly.

Armaan looked at her, his smile dimming slightly.

Oh.

A thoughtful expression crossed his features.

There was a beat of silence as they sat in front of each other, their eyes stayed locked.

Aapko pata hai...

Abhira started to speak while Armaan seemed to admire her chirpy side.

Agar bhai mujhe nahin batate ke woh ladke aap hain toh aaj mujhe pakka dar lag jata.

She completed the words, an embarrassed smile made it's way to her lips.

Armaan raised an eyebrow at her, leaning forward slightly but he still maintained the distance between them.

Matlab?

Abhira continued to smile, her voice laced with a mixture of sincarity and embarrassment as she confessed

Mujhe lagta ke aap mera peecha ker rahe hain.

Armaan chuckled at that, the sound warm and hearty dancing in the air as he looked at her, his eyebrow arching in question as he asked

Do I look like a stalker to you?

Abhira tapped her chin with her finger, a thoughtful expression crossing her features.

Ismein meri koi galti nahin.

Abhira said softly after few moments.

He eyed her for a moment and then kept his hands on the table once again.

Kaise?

He asked now slightly liking her company and her chirpy nature.

Abhira clicked her tongue and spoke in a matter of fact tone.

Ab shakal se thodi hi pata chala hai ke insaan kaisa hai.

Armaan nodded his head in positive at her words.

True.

But phir bhi there's a saying that first impression is the last impression.

Abhira said tapping her ring in her middle finger of the right hand.

Armaan arched an eyebrow at her

So.

Armaan begin, his curiosity evident

What was your favorite impression of me?

He asked, his curiosity evident in his tone.

Abhira shrugged her shoulder casually before the thought clouded her mind

Khadusmaan.

Abhira shook her head sideways, her hair flowing around her in curling ringlets. Her mind traveled back to the 2nd impression.

Phir kabhi bataungi.

Abhira said, a mischievous sparkle dancing in the depth of her gaze.

You are a doctor right?

Abhira asked sounding doubtful.

Haan.

Armaan said and raised an eyebrow.

Why?

Abhira shrugged her shoulders casually.

Aise hi poocha just wanted to confirm.

Abhira said softly.

Doctor hone ka saboot doon?

Armaan asked, a mischievous twinkle dancing in his eyes.

Abhira nodded her head in positive curiously.

Haan.

Too much coffee isn't good for your health when you have anxiety issues.

Armaan said in a matter of fact tone giving her a soft smile. His words helted Abhira,s heart and she looked at him gasping.

Matlab?

Abhira asked, her voice trembling.

Armaan stood up from his seat and Abhira stood up too. His hand was extended for a handshake. Abhira looked at him. He smiled gently, the spark in his eyes was comforting and she shook hands with him.

Hopefully we'll meet soon.

Armaan said with a soft smile and Abhira nodded her head in positive feeling comfortable.

I'm looking forward to our next meet.

Abhira said, the smile she gave him was warm and genuine which made his heart swell with warmth and he smiled back softly.
