4 Dream Kingdom

POV Moon Maiden

The Moon Cave is glowing beautifully tonight but not even that is enough to ease the worry inside of me. “Manny? What should I do?” I look straight up from the gap in the ceiling. He is not responding, “So it’s up to me now?” I smiled.

“Time to meet up with an old friend,” I whispered to myself when I lay down in a snow bed that I created.

“Sandy,” I whisper while being half asleep. Then I fell asleep and entered to the world of dreams. His kingdom. “Ah, pleased to meet you again,” I hear the polite voice of Sandy from behind of me. I curtsied him, “Hello Mister Sandman.” I smile to him and he nodded.

For some reason he had a weird look on him. “How are you doing?” I smile to him when I sat down on a golden dream sand chair that he created. I see how he makes one for himself too and also a table. “I am feeling quite pleasant, thank you. I guess you have some reason to spoken me?” He smiled and some of his dream sand figures are moving around us.

I nod my head, “In fact I do. About a man named Jack Frost.” Sandy smiled and nodded his head. “Do you know him?” I smile and he nodded again, “In fact I do. He is a cheerful young man and speaks with me all the time. However it is impossible for me to have a normal conversation in the real world.”

“I do know that dear Sandy,” I smile to him and he takes my other hand and pats it. “Dear Maiden of the Moon. I am truly grateful that you aided me many decades go when nightmare sand devoured me. It was in fact the same time when I met Jack Frost for the first time,” Sandy laughed but then turned into more serious look.

“If he is the source of fun… What happened to him? He isn’t his normal self, right?” I sighed and Sandy shook his head and closed his eyes. “He experienced a great loss many decades ago. It’s eating him up from the inside my dear Maiden. His heart is filling up with doubt, fear and hate. It’s horrible of what may happen when a Guardian loses their core or children and their belief in him. We need your help, Maiden,” Sandy is looking directly at me.

I squeeze his hand, “I will do anything but there is a problem. He refuses to believe in me or the moon.” Sandy gasped, “That cannot be true!” I nodded, “He walked right through me and there’s also something odd going on. His hair,” I whispered.

Sandy furrowed his eyebrows and stood up. “Something needs to be done before,” he mumbled and I look at him. Then he glances at me and smiles faintly, “In any case, I am very happy to meet you again, Maiden.” For some reason I feel like there was something more behind his words also.

Now Sandy sighed and I see some golden dream sand gathering around. “I assume that you know his past, most of it at least?” He looks at me. “He was once a human, yes. A nice boy,” I smiled and I missed him right now. Sandy nodded, “He was until he saved a little girl, then the Winter Spirit entered him. Some time after that Man in the Moon chose him to be a Guardian.”

“That sounds like everything went well? What changed?” I sighed and stare at my hands. Sandy glances at me, “He found love which he lost later. He hasn’t been himself since, nothing interests him. Lately he has been dismissing his responsibilities as bringer of fun. Children are losing faith in him.” He looks up with sad eyes.

“You might be able to help him find the fun again,” Sandy smiles and I gasp. “Me? Why would you say that? He can’t even see me like you do!” I hold my head and think of the ways.

Sandy nodded, “I am sure that you will find a way. Now he needs a Guardian again, you,” Sandy touched my hand. “Now I need to go, children need their dreams,” Sandy bowed and kissed my hand. I give him a faint smile before he disappears.

Now I woke up in the Moon Cave. Some Winter fairies flew to me and seemed worried, I touch my face and wipe away a few frozen tears. “How can I help him get the fun times back,” I whispered aloud while I sat on the bed.

POV Jack

Alone.

That’s how I feel. Slowly I embrace myself, pull my knees against my chest and bury my hood covered head in them. “Stop it,” I snapped as the shadows were circling around me. I lift my head but the figures are still surrounding me, approaching from every side.

I could actually care less. When  I reached to my staff on the ground I used it as a throwing weapon. One of the figures vanished but came back right after the staff had gone through it. I sighed and buried my head back.

“No one cares about you,” the voice started to speak again. “They leave you,” the voice spoke again and I close my ears.  “THEY DON’T LOVE YOU,” the voice yelled.

“STOP!” I yelled back and tears were running on my cheeks. Then I held my breath when I saw her. “Don’t be a crybaby,” the figure says and pulls me up. I swallowed the lumpy feeling from my throat and my shaking hand reaches to her cheek. “Els?” I whispered and the female grinned.

“How are you Jack? Being alone?” Her voice was like spikes piercing my heart. “I miss you,” I whispered and tried to embrace her. She took few steps backward. Her ice blue dress was shimmering in black and her hair was raven black, her eyes were blank looking in expression.

I fell to my knees and begged for her not to go. Suddenly a shadow starts to get form and I recognize it. “Pitch,” I gulped and then I see how Elsa goes behind of him and hugs him from behind. “Elsa, why?” I whispered and look at them. I feel powerless.

“Jack, Jack, Jack,” Pitch says with mocking tone. Elsa places her around Pitch’s neck and I stare at them. My hand is touching the ground next to me until I found it. My finger’s go around the wooden surface of my staff and I raise it up. “LET HER GO!” I yell and shoot out the ice cold lightning.

Only thing is that.. there was no lightning. I tried again. Nothing. I’m breathing heavily.

“You’ve lost your powers ice boy,” Pitch chuckled and Elsa is grinning. “Pathetic is what you’re,” Elsa says coldly. I shook my head in misbelieve, “No… it cant be.” I gulped and Pitch grinned, “Yes, Jack. Kids lost their faith in you. “

I quickly touch the ground but nothing happens. No wind, no ice. I glance up towards them and I bit my lower lip. “Pitch, I don’t care what you do to me but… just let her go,” I pleaded and stare at my wife.

Pitch shook his front finger, “No… unless.. yes, there is a condition.” I sighed, “What’s that?” Pitch played with his fingers, “Join me. Then she’s yours again.” He said and took Elsa’s hand, pulling her in front of him.

I fell to my knees again and I stare at the ground. “How can I ,” I gasped. Then I see how she is coming towards me and kneels in front of me. “Jack, Jack.. Help me,” she whispers in sad voice and I look at her. Now I see how she faked, her sad expression turned into devious one. Then she kissed me, causing me to cry silently.

“I will be yours again, think it through,” she whispered while she backed up. I watch as she goes to Pitch. “I know a way to have more fun.. Ice boy.. making kids believe in you again,” Pitch grinned and I gritted my teeth while looking away.

They disappeared and I was left alone. Powerless. I took my staff and start to walk in the plain snow fields. It’s just me.

Suddenly a small fairy flies to me, “Baby tooth?” I exhaled and then I see how Toothiana comes to me. “Finally I found you!” She gasped and then she stared at me with shock. “Jack,” she whispered and pointed at my hair.

“Yeah?” I said without emotion. “There is hardly any white left in your hair.. it’s more of black than white,” she said with worry in her voice. “So what,” I said coldly and turned away. “That’s it, you’re coming to Tooth Palace,” she said with her hands on her hips.

I rolled my eyes and walked away. “Stop him girls!” Toothiana ordered her fairies that took a hold of me. “That’s odd,” Toothiana whispered. “Normally you would have flew away,” she gasped and stared at me when a dozen of her fairies were holding me in the air.

“I would rather not to come,” I said and stared at her. “What has happened Jack?” She said while looking at me. “Life happened.. oh.. and I kinda lost my powers,” I whispered and turn my head away.

Toothiana flew to me and hugged me tightly, “Oh Jack! I’m so sorry! You’ll come to my Palace and we’ll fix it somehow. Just like you helped us when kids lost their believe in us..” She said and I laughed coldly. “I could give less,” I said and she gave me an angry glare. “Jack, you’ll be you soon again. You’ll see!” She smiled and ordered her fairies to take me to Tooth Palace. It was the most annoying ride of my life time. And my life has been going on for a long time.
