Snowbelly's Story
So, in a woodland forest miles from the Clans, there are two different Clans. One named ShadeClan, the other SunClan. SunClan take up most of the forest, bathing in the sunlight and showing off their skills. ShadeClan barely have enough space for their camp, let alone hunt for their extending Clan. Because of the this, ShadeClan's kits often die short after birth, which causes them to take in rouges and loners so they don't die out, though their territory only reaches about a few tree-lengths from the camp.
One night in late Leaffall, nearing Greenleaf, some of the ShadeClan warriors decided enough was enough. They would take SunClan's territory and rule the entire forest with their enemies as their slaves. Oakflame, the one who came up with the absurd idea, began to rally up the Clan's best warriors. This included many cats, two of which being mates, named Snowbelly and Palecloud. Palecloud had recently gotten a very bad cough, and she had to sleep with Snowbelly outside of camp. Snowbelly refuses to join the battle since Palecloud needed his warmth and kindness to live, though Oakflame ended up convincing him that SunClan would have useful herbs to heal her once they won the battle, and he finally gave in to haul her into their territory and hide until the battle was over.
He had to drag Palecloud quite a while, worrying for her safety the entire time. Oakflame and the other warriors snuck from camp at midnight, with the blood-red and flame-colored trees adding to the battle they were approaching. Just as the moon reached its highest peak, the battle began. Almost all of ShadeClan poured from all sides into the sleeping and unaware SunClan's camp, ruining and tearing at anything they could find. The opposite Clan woke up instantly, and began to fight back. Meanwhile, as the Clan's blood was being spilled, Snowbelly and Palecloud were huddled away under a fallen tree. Her cough hadn't gotten better.
After a few minutes of them waiting for the battle to end, Snowbelly keeping her warm the entire time, Palecloud began to find it hard to stay awake. Scared she's die if she slept, Snowbelly tried to keep her awake, as the terrifying reality of her death ticked closer every minute the battle went on. Since their Clan was outmatched and outskilled, they were loosing. But Oakflame wouldn't let them loose – he knew Snowbelly and Palecloud were waiting somewhere, that he'd promised to get the herbs. He quickly ordered a warrior, named Nightstripe, to raid the medicine cat's den and bring anything he could find to Snowbelly and Palecloud. Nightstripe, being a young warrior, obeyed and quickly raided the unprotected den. He grabbed anything he could find, which included some bloody red berries.
After a minute he found the two cats, one withering and nearly dead. Nightstripe and Snowbelly urged Palecloud to eat some of the herbs, and got her to eat a strange leaf or two before she coughed and couldn't do anything else. Nightstripe took the herbs and returned to the fight. Palecloud was withering and nearly gone, her body already getting colder and colder. Refusing to let her go, Snowbelly huddled closer to her, panicking. They had to win – and quickly.
After another few minutes, Palecloud finally gave in to her brain's command and closed her eyes. Snowbelly immediately leapt up, yowling and making as much noise as possible to wake her up. But she wouldn't open her eyes, as she laid her head down into the dying grass. "No..!" Snowbelly yowled, hurrying to her side and shoving her shoulder roughly. But she couldn't get up. The she-cat peered through a single eye, muttering "I.. Love you.. So.. Much.." before the eye closed and her body went still.
Snowbelly shook her shoulder and nuzzled her as her body grew lifeless. Sobs echoed under the tree as he buried his nose into her sweet-smelling pelt that was fading to smell like the frost quickly. She's gone... A voice told him. Just as he cuddled against her once warm and joyful body, a loud call of defeat rang through the forest. They'd lost. All of the things Snowbelly had done, and they'd lost. If he wouldn't had come and stayed back and stay with the medicine cat then Palecloud would be alive. It was all Oakflame's fault.
As the brown and bleeding tabby came padding towards him, Snowbelly leapt to his paws, growling loudly with bared teeth and pained eyes. "You killed Palecloud!" he yowled angrily, his ears pushed back and his pelt fuzzed out in the freezing breeze. "Snowbelly, she died from sickness. You killed her by forcing her out here, even when I told you to keep her warm at camp." Oakflame snarled, trying to defend his reputation as possible future deputy. The white and ginger warrior felt broken and shattered, these cats didn't care about him.
He snarled, unsheathing his claws as he leapt at Oakflame, yowling as he tackled the cat. Oakflame hissed, twisting around and wrapping his forearms around Snowbelly's neck, dragging him to the ground before twisting again to kick his face. The warrior hissed and spat, shaking Oakflame off before the two furious toms circled one another, ears flat and backs arched, hissing and spitting as they circled around, their injured Clanmates watching in shock.
Just as they thought Snowbelly would jump at Oakflame, the brown tabby leapt first, tacking down the other now-terrified warrior. Oakflame reared his head, yowling "You brought this upon yourself!" before digging his teeth into Snowbelly's throat, full force. The ginger and white warrior coughed and wheezed, scrambling away as blood soaked his fur. After getting about a tail-length, he toppled over, sputtering and coughing up blood that soaked into the ground. After a minute of struggling and staring at the bleary world, the color from his eyes faded, and he went limp.
Oakflame stared at his shocked and confused Clanmates. "He killed Palecloud." he spat, before leading them home, abandoning the two murdered warriors. Just as they left, two barely noticeable starry outlines sat atop the fallen tree, before fading away into the freezing wind.
