Chapter 22: Fun At The Beach
Fun At The Beach
This was probably the best or worst game in the history of beach games.
I looked over at Lucy and narrowed my eyes at her and she did the same. I glanced over at Wendy and smirked.
This was going to be an easy win.
Happy took off and hovered as he looked down at all of us.
"Get ready." Natsu said with a smirk on his face. I rolled my shoulders.
I was so ready.
Happy put his paws together, smiled, and flapped his wings hard while he brought his paws down. "Go!"
A few minutes earlier...
I shook my head at Lucy and scoffed. "I'm not playing." Lucy frowned at me and then pouted. "Come on, Freya! Its fun." I rubbed my eyes as I laid back down in my beach blanket.
I waved my hand in the air, "Come on, L, I'm trying to sleep." I heard Lucy huff out a breath but then she suddenly sucked in a quick breath. I opened one eye and looked over at her. She turned her head back to me and smiled devilishly.
I hated when she smiled like that, it meant she was up to something. "What?" I asked her as I sat up on my elbows. Lucy didn't say anything and just pointed down the beach. I looked over to where she was pointing and almost choked on the air itself.
Natsu was walking out of the surf with a wide smile on his face. He reached up and ran a hand through his wet hair, which caused it to spike up again. The muscles in his stomach and chest rippled with every powerful step he took. The boy's smile alone should be illegal. His body and everything else was pure sin. I stopped breathing when his warm gaze landed on me and he gave me a closed eyed smile.
"Why are you staring, Freya?" I blinked and looked down to where the voice had come from. Happy looked up at me and giggled into his paws. "Its kind of creepy..."
I bared my teeth at the blue cat and growled out. "Don't make me pull you're whiskers kitty." With a squeak Happy flapped his white wings and bolted up into the sky. "Freya just turned into a demon!"
I smiled up at him and hissed, "Demon yesssss." Happy flew off towards Carla and Wendy, who were playing in the sand with Erza.
Lucy and I laughed at Happy's reaction. "Straight to his 'girlfriend'." Lucy said with air quotes. I nodded and closed my eyes against the warmth of the sun.
"So? You're going to play, right?" I sighed heavily and shook my head no. "Don't wanna." Lucy started to whine.
"I thought you would be happy!"
"You thought wrong."
"Come on, Freya, its fun."
"Is Levs going to play?"
Lucy paused. "No."
I opened up an eye and glanced over at her.
"Why not?"
"...She left...with Gajeel." My eyes snapped open and I bolted upright. I scanned the beach and I didn't see a flash of blue hair or Levy's face. With a growl I scrambled up and began to stalk down the beach.
Lucy was right behind me. "Freya! Where are you going? What's wrong?" I stopped and spun to face her. "What's wrong? You don't know what's wrong?!" Lucy glanced to the left and to the left.
"No..." I face palmed. I took a calming breath and ran my hand down my face. "I. Don't. Like. Levy. With. A. Boy. All. Alone." I gritted out.
Lucy laughed, "You're over reacting. You know Levy-chan can take care of herself." I blinked and let my body relax. "I know that."
Maybe I was overreacting... I'm sure she's fine. I looked at Lucy, "Lets have some fun, eh?" She smiled brightly and grabbed my hand.
We went to Wendy first and explained the game. Then we made our way over to Natsu and Gray.
We, mostly Lucy, explained the game once again. The two boys looked at each other and nodded their heads. Natsu smiled challengingly and Gray smirked.
"You're going down."
They both said.
Both boys took off into the ocean with Wendy right behind them. I turned to Lucy and cocked my head at her. "Who's your partner?"
Lucy smiled and reached to the side of her swimming suit. When she brought up her hand a glistening golden key was in her hand. I let out a chuckle, "Isn't that cheating?"
"Nope," she answered as she began calling for her spirit.
"Open, Gate of the Lion! Leo!"
In a flash of golden light the Celestial Spirit, Loke, was standing before us. He instantly wrapped an arm around Lucy's shoulders and pushed up his glasses with his fingers.
"Lucy, I was starting to get lonely without you're lovely presence. So, how about that date?" I covered my mouth with my hand to stifle my laugh.
Loke must have heard me cause he looked over at me.
Faster than I could track he was beside me and he already had an arm wrapped around my shoulders. "Now who are you, beautiful goddess?" I felt my eyes widen and I looked over at Lucy. I pointed at the boy, who I was pretty sure, had sparkles floating around him. "Wow." I muttered.
Lucy nodded and started yelling at him. This was the first time I had ever seen Loke, I had to admit, I liked him. I laughed as Lucy kept yelling at him. Loke pushed up his glasses and smiled.
"Your voice is as angelic as I remember it, Lucy." He said in a smooth voice. I laughed out loud this time. I put a hand on Loke's shoulder and laughed until I was gasping for breath.
"I l-love this guy!" I gasped out as I wiped my eyes. Lucy stomped her foot and went forward. "I don't see how." Lucy muttered as she grabbed his arm.
"You wound me." Loke faked hurt and placed his fist on his chest, "But, I would get hurt a thousand fold and put my life on the line to ensure your safety." Lucy stopped and looked up at him, "I know, Loke." Loke smiled.
Cute, I thought with a small smile. Loke ruined the sweet moment when he turned to me with sparkles surrounding him again. "So, why don't the two of us go out on a romantic date?" Before me or Lucy could yell at him, Loke went flying. I watched as Loke flew in the air then face planted in the sand. I looked over my shoulder and saw a angry looking Natsu.
"We don't want your manwhoreness here!" Natsu yelled as he crossed his arms. I shook my head with a smile on my face. "Natsu, you just knocked out Lucy's partner."
Natsu looked from me to Lucy. He put his hands behind his head as he pivoted around. "Sorry, Luce." Lucy shook her head and face palmed, "No, no, its fine." She glanced up and looked at the unconscious Mage.
"So uncool..."
*****
"Ready?" Natsu asked me as he crouched down on the sand. No. "Yes." I said instead as I swallowed thickly. I took a breath and put one of my legs around his shoulders.
I put my hand on his shoulder to steady myself as I put my other leg around his other shoulder. Natsu wrapped his hands around my legs and with ease, he lifted me up.
I wrapped my arms around his neck so I wouldn't fall off. Thank the Dragons that he had taken his scarf off. If he hadn't I would have accidently choked him with it. Instead he had wrapped it around his head. As I tried not to strangle him, I noticed something on his neck.
I took a closer look at it and I saw that it was a wicked looking scar.
Without thinking I ran my fingers across the scared up tissue.
Natsu shivered and tilted his head up at me, "What are you doing?" I removed my fingers and flushed, "Nothing...I just noticed you're scar is all." Natsu raised his eyebrows at me. "Umm...how did you get it?"
Natsu shuddered and his eyes got wide. "A monster. A horrible scary monster." My brows shot up and I sucked in a breath. "Well then." Natsu rarely looked scared so I didn't bring it up again.
Across from us Wendy had already gotten on Gray's shoulders. Loke, who had been more than happy to be Lucy's partner, was already in the water, with Lucy on his shoulders.
I shivered as Natsu's warm hands traveled further up my leg. How the hell was I going to knock Lucy and Wendy off and into the ocean? I couldn't even concentrate right now!
I chuckled, This was probably going to be the best or worst game in all of beachgame history. I thought as Natsu walked into the water and toward the others.
The objective of this game was to knock the other girl off their partner's shoulders and into the water. That scored you one point. And since there were only three of us girls, the winner would have to win two points. Oh, and you couldn't use any Magic.
Bummer.
Happy flew into the air and signaled that the game was on. I cracked my knuckles and rolled my shoulders. I chuckled as my eyes landed on my strongest opponent.
Lucy.
Natsu seemed to read my mind because he got me closer to the blond. My hands shot out and I gripped her shoulders. She did the same to me. I chuckled and narrowed my eyes at her.
"Bye, Lucy." I said simply. With one hand still on her shoulder I let go with my other hand. I brought my hand back and slammed my palm onto her shoulder. With a shriek she flew back.
Loke tried to keep her balanced but the force of my blow was just enough. Lucy fell off of Loke's shoulders and into the ocean. Loke stood there as he crossed his arms. With a shrug of his shoulders he said almost happily, "Well, duty calls, time to save my princess." With that he dived into the water.
I laughed and patted Natsu's head. "One down," I glanced over my shoulder. "And one to go." Natsu finished as he turned us around. Gray hadn't moved from his place and him and Wendy were both waiting for us.
They had known that we would win. Natsu stalked forward and I had to wrap my arms around his neck again.
We faced one another and Wendy sent me a small smile. I flicked my wrist in greeting. I quite liked Wendy. I wouldn't push her too hard.
Gray locked eyes with Natsu. "Ready to lose, Ash Brain?" I looked down at Natsu and he looked up at me.
I leaned forward and smiled. "What was it you said to us before, Gray?" I brought up my hand and moved my fingers in a 'come on' gesture.
"You said you would bring us down?" I spread my arms wide. "Then, by all means, come at us." Gray did. He rushed toward us, kicking up water as he did, Wendy had to hold on tighter to his neck, so she wouldn't fall off.
Natsu also ran forward to meet him. I raised my hand, palm out, and struck out. I hit Wendy as softly as I could across the chest. She lost her balance instantly and fell off Gray's shoulders.
Huh, that was almost too easy... Just as the thought entered my mind a shadow fell on us. I quickly looked up to see...Erza?! Her red hair was flying around her as she fell from the freaking sky and landed on Gray's shoulders.
I stared at the two as Natsu took a step back. "So, this was your plan all along?" I asked calmly and with a blank expression. I couldn't let them see my surprise.
Gray smirked and Erza smiled. They thought that they had us beat. I couldn't wait to prove them wrong. I leaned closer to Natsu's ear and whispered my plan to him. His body shook with a silent laugh and he gave me an thumbs up.
Oh, yay, now I was having some fun.
Huh, what is Freya's plan? ;) XD the Fairies can never really relax now, can they? They are always doing something to challenge one another! Lol, hope you all enjoyed this chapter! Till next time, minna!
