I didn't want to believe it, to believe that the actual goddess of this world was literally right in front of me. I mean she could always be an imposter. But for some reason, inside of me knew that she wasn't lying. She looked super patient and was just standing there relaxed while I stared at her in awe and shock. 

"You're real," I said and she giggled and said yes. 

"I can't believe it."

"Take as long as you need, not many know me personally. As you already know I am the "goddess" that watches over the world." She said and I nodded. I then sucked in a breath and I relaxed. 

"I'm sorry, I just remembered something. You said you were going to be...my mentor?" I asked her in disbelief. 

"Yes, I came down just for you and to help you to become a Runner. I am very sorry for what has happened to you, please forgive the Hollows and their abusive behavior. They don't really like Runners." Elizabeth said. 

I was a little confused. "Why?" I asked and I watched as she sadly sighed and she walked over to the dusty and un-made bed, she gently dust it off with a simple swing of her giant wing and she sat down. 

"It was all for foolish reasons. The Hollows were a little too selfish and they didn't want to expand the Runners land. The Runners started to get desperate and so they even begged. But the Hollows would not give in. They got very mad and so they got into a war. The Runners did not want this, I could tell- but they had no choice. And so, they got into the war and you...know the outcome. Ugh....... if I could have just-" 

"You gave us free will and the Hollows used it in their own way. Like you said the Runners didn't have a choice. It's not your fault, it was everyones. And I'm so sorry that you had to experience that all by yourself." I said and I cut her off. I honestly didn't want to hear anymore and so I sat next to her and I looked down with her.

"Why do you want to be my mentor?" I asked her and I saw her wings shift a little. It must be hard to be cooped up in this little house.

"Because, child. I want to help you, and you must also help me." She said and I looked at her confused. 

"What do you mean? How can I help you?" I asked and she looked a little nervous. 

"I am going to tell you something that only I know, do you understand me, child?" She asked me and I nodded slowly.

"My barrier to the dark woods is...weakening. I need your help to recruit some people that I have in mind. It will not be easy to recruit them, some might or even will try to kill you, they will try to avoid you, but you have to be strong and you have to help me. The world is in danger." She said and I was speechless.  Was everything that she said to me, true? I looked down and I swallowed some spit and I looked up at her again. I had one question.

"Why me?" I asked her and she just smiled.

"You will know in due time." She said and she rested her hand on my shoulder.

"Now child, I must go back to my home, I will give you this if you have any more questions for me. " She said and she gave me a small shell. I looked at it confused and I was about to ask her about it but she stood up quickly and was about to leave the room.

"Will I be able to see you again soon?" I asked her as I stood up abruptly, but as soon as I did I started to cough and wheeze. I covered my mouth quickly to not be rude and I fell to the floor hacking up spit and B-BLOOD?! I got scared and I started to panic. I couldn't stop coughing and I soon felt someone gently hold me while I basically hacked up my lungs.

"You did not find it yet, did you?" I heard Elizabeth say and I felt her rummage with something and I felt her put something around my neck and mouth.

"I don't have much, but please child you have to breathe this in." She said and I smelt gas in the thing that was around the lower half of my face. I breathed in and I felt my chest becoming less tight and I breathed in some more and I felt that my eyes suddenly got glasses over them. I could see a little better but I can't change the fact that I'm basically blind now. I eventually stopped coughing completely while I was breathing the gas in and I felt myself relax. I looked up and I didn't see anyone. Did she leave? I asked myself and I shook my head and I kept the gas mask on me.

I then stood up slowly and I looked around the room for the diary that I was reading earlier. I then found it laying on the small desk and so I grabbed it and I ran out of the house with it in my hand. I had grabbed everything earlier and so I followed the directions that little miss Hella gave to me and I found the small tree and giant boulder right next to the dark woods. I sighed in relief and I bent down to see that she was right.

She had left some canned foods and some more of the orange gas that I was breathing in earlier. I then saw a note and I took it.

Dear Runner,
I guess this means I'm dead huh? Well as you can see I left food and our gas we need to live. I know it's a little hard to be a Runner right now, but try to endure it; for our sake.  I hope there are other Runners with you so that you don't have to be alone, well this was all I could muster up in the short time that I had. Stay safe,

I could tell that she wrote this in a hurry because of the scribbly handwriting. I sighed sadly and I tucked the note into one of my pockets and I picked up the box of food and I ran back to the little house that I found before. I opened the door and I saw that the fire pit was on. I never turned it on though? I then realized somebody must be here and before I could turn around and run, somebody covered my mouth from behind me and I started to panic!

"Could you please, stop fucking squirming!" I heard a woman's voice say and I instantly stopped. I was too scared to fight. I am only 14, I can't do much against an adult. 

"Thank you, now please don't fucking scream when I let go of your mouth. Not like anyone will care anyways." I heard her say and she let go of my mouth. I gulped and I turned around to see the Demon bartender that I met the other day.

"Wha-?"

"Don't question."

"Okay," I said and I watched as she went around me and she flopped herself on to the couch. She was super silent and it looked like that she was watching the fire. I basically just stood there awkwardly and I heard her say something.

"What? I couldn't quite hear that." I asked her and I watched her turn her head to me.

"Of course you didn't, I said- it's quite hard to muffle someone with a stupid gas mask on." She said and she sighed. I was a little confused.

"But you actually did cover my mouth," I said and I saw her look away and stare at the fire again. 

"I used my magic to go through your mask and cover your mouth. Runners have loud voices, so even if you have a gas mask on, I would be able to hear your scream a mile away." She said and I nodded. 

"Elizabeth (they use her name like how people express God's name when they are annoyed or have any other expression) this is fucking annoying. Listen, kid, Hollows don't like Runners and as you know already, I'm a Hollow and I don't quite fucking like you." She said while turning again to look at me. I was getting a little mad.

"Is that all you came over here to tell me?" I asked her with annoyance overflowing from my voice.

"No bitch, I came all the way over here to help you." She said and after she said that I heard a very large and heavy roar come from the side of the house. 

"What was that?!" I asked and I ran outside with the bartender following me close behind. As I looked around the corner I saw a very weird looking creature. It had small red eyes and it's back looked like it had very large scales or horns. The feet were like razor-sharp claws and it looked like that it was some kind of demented werewolf. I looked at it shocked and it looked like that it came out of the dark woods. 

"Shit, listen, kid, that damn thing is called a "Sui rou ji " it will literally rip you to fucking pieces. The good thing is it's blind. It can only track you with your sent or it can hear you. The claws have poison in them so be careful not to get scratched or cut. It can cut very deep by the way. Also, the only weak point on it is its stomach. So aim for that, we need to kill it before it can go anywhere else. Now the closest Hollow town is at least 50-55 miles away. We have to kill it before it can get that far, do you understand me?" The bartender asked me and I agreed with her and she looked like she got into her fighting stance and she grabbed her necklace. It looked like that it had a small black and red guitar on it and when she used her magic it started to glow dark purple and it became big, like a regular guitar. 

"Woah," I said and I heard another large roar and I focused my attention on the Sui rou Ji I then noticed that I completely forgot that my violin was on my hip and so I grabbed it and I watched as the Bartender swiftly and quietly inched over to the Meat Shredder. I looked down at my violin and I completely didn't know how to use it, but I was determined and I clenched its neck and I put the violin under my chin and I readied my bow. I saw the bartender look back at me and when she saw that I was ready, that was when she struck. 

Her guitar was like a giant ax and so when she slashed at the Sui rou Ji it had made a giant cut on the Sui rou ji's arm. The beast then roared and the bartender yelled at me to get ready. I stood in my place and I readied for the beast to come my way. I saw that the bartender was yelling next to me so I could make my hit on the beast. She was basically taunting it. I looked at the beast and quickly noticed that it was fucking running at me. 

"Hurry up and make your move Runner!" The bartender yelled at me and I shrieked and I played a very random note on my violin making my violin screech out a note and I saw that I (somehow) slashed the beast stomach and it was deep enough to make it go down. I huffed and I turned to the bartender. 

"Heh, not bad for a killer, but pretty bad as a Runner, how the hell do you call that a song?" She asked me I rolled my eyes and I shoved her. 

"Shut it, I'm still new to this whole thing!" I said defensively and I crossed my arms looking down at the not moving beast. 

"Haha, sorry kid. By the way, I never told you my name, did I?" She asked me and I looked back up at her and I shook my head no. 

"Well kid, my name is Autumn, what's your's?" She asked me politely and I smiled under my mask and I told her my name.

"My name is Angelina, it's nice to meet you, Autumn!" I said excitedly with a smile.
