Chapter 2, Autumn
A/N That's not exactly what she looks like, but it was the closest I could get.
It has been 28 years since the war with the Runners and it has been 28 years since the extinction of the Runners. I was the one to kill the last Runner, I didn't know how to feel about it back then since I was only 14. But now, I feel great. I have noticed that is was more peaceful without them around pestering us. They demanded more space and we didn't give it to them, mainly because it was their fault for running straight on into the dark spot. But I also felt a little bad, because they were half-blind. That was the reason they ran into the dark spot in the first place, they were half-blind because of their eyes. Their eyes were black with orange irises and orange veins coming out of them. If I were to bet on it, I would bet that they couldn't see because of what their eyes were, but I couldn't care less I am a demon after all and to make it short.
Demons don't feel.
We fake our feeling's and we are great at it. I mean I can feel some feeling's like love or fear, but other than that it's just a damn pain to deal with feelings. So we don't. I'm sorry I haven't introduced myself, my name is Autumn. I am a demon and I'm 42 years old. I turn into an elder when I turn 60, not too far actually. I am already starting to feel the effects of becoming an elder. Right now I was at my bar cleaning some glass cups when a little girl comes walking in. I looked at her, she had black hair and brown eyes, she was also small and pale not sickly pale but pale. She looked around at everyone around her and she started to look a little nervous. I scoffed and went back to what I was doing. I felt a stare and I looked to the side, she was staring at me. I grumbled and put down the glass I was rubbing and grabbed another one. I heard small footsteps come quickly to my direction and I heard the stool that I'm guessing she sat in squeak.
"Um excuse me? may you please tell me where the bus is?" She said sounding a little timid, I'm guessing she found out that I am a demon. "You couldn't have asked an elder kid? I don't like little kids like you, they get on my nerves. So how about you leave before I make you." I said in an annoyed tone. "But please they might leave me! I have to get back to the bus so I could go back to the commons!" She desperately said and I rolled my eyes. I turned around and her eyes widened. "What? never seen a demon before?" I said and chuckled. She shook her head staring at me, I frowned a little. She was looking at my tattoos. I have tribal tattoos all over my body, it starts from my jaw down to my ankles. I also have piercings and my hair is black with complete white big stripes in the front. My eyes are blood red and most say they are piercing. I scoffed and I looked around some people were looking my way and they were glaring at the little girl, she was of course still here and after I looked around. I looked at her.
"Listen, kid, the buses are most likely at the front gate. Go there and some elders will help you then, just ask for your bus number and they'll tell you. If you don't know where the main gate is, just go left out of the bar and then keep going straight when you see a big ass black gate. Now hurry up and leave, I don't want you getting hurt." I said and her eyes widened again, but not out of fear. It was relief and happiness. She bowed and she ran out of the bar going the way I told her. I watched her until I couldn't see her anymore and I sighed deeply. I really don't like little kids.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you were wondering, no I don't ever really leave the bar. Mainly because I live on the top of it. My house isn't really small, but it isn't huge either. I live a boring life, it was exciting 28 years ago but that's a long time. I had seen many things in my life, but they weren't as bad as the extinction as the runners. Like I said I don't regret it, I enjoyed it. It's just quite without them, I have been waiting for 28 years for a kid to become a runner. But people are too scared or they don't think about it, and also teachers don't teach kids how to play the stupid ass violin anymore. It was getting dark outside and more and more hollows are starting to come in the bar. I looked at the side door and seen Christina walk in.
She's the smallest of the warlocks and the perverted fuckers don't know how to leave her alone. They always think that since something is so small it's theirs, and it's not. "Hello, Christina, ready for another day of work?" I asked her and her short self walked over to me and nodded. She has always been timid, not because I'm a demon but because she is so small and people like to make fun of that. To be honest It's quite fun to make fun of her. But it can get annoying. "Alright as always I'll be here for 2 more hours and then I'm going upstairs," I said and gave a warlock a beer. "Alright, you do that. I'll be fine on my own." She said and I nodded.
"HEY AUTUMN COME PLAY FOR US!" "YEAH!" A guy and the whole bar agreed. "Why should I play for you? You do not deserve my music." I said with a smirk, "OH COME ON GIRL DON'T BE LIKE THAT" "YEAH HAVE SOME FUN BEFORE YOU BECOME AN ELDER" "Oi I am not going to be an elder until 20 years from now, fuck off." I said and I turned around to grab a glass to dry off. "Oh come on doll, just one song please?" I turned around to see my ex. He's a Vampire, he likes to visit the bar sometimes and I hate it. He was a fucking dick when I was younger. "Oh? And why the fuck are you here?" I said and slammed the glass on the counter making the cup crack at the bottom. "Oh come on, are you really still mad about that." He asked me and I scoffed. "Still mad? Still mad?! Oh no, I'm fucking peachy about it!" I screamed and I threw the glass at him and it hit his chest and shattered.
"Fucking bitch!" He yelled and he jumped up off his chair and before he could hit me a couple of Warlocks grabbed him and Christina quickly grabbed me before I could do anything else. I mean fuck she's small but she's also strong as hell! "Fuck him, fuck him to hell!" I screamed and he was also trying his best to get out of the grip of the warlocks. "You fucking cunt, wait until I get a crucifix!" "You dumb bitch, you can't even touch one!" I screamed at him and I was getting so mad that my tattoos were starting to glow. All I needed was my electric guitar and I could kill this fucker. "Autumn please calm down, the guys will make him leave, leave it to the guys," Christina said, but I was too mad to listen to her. I was about to grab the guitar that was literally right under me, but then someone came into the bar.
"Is there a problem here?" an elf said, everyone looked at him and my ex huffed and stopped trying to hurt me. I instantly tried to get my tattoos to stop glowing and Christina let me go. "No sir, there is no problem," I said and glared at him. The Royals are higher than the Hollows by a fucking stem. It's irritating that we have to listen to them all the time. "Good." The elf said and he walked out. I looked over at my ex and he glared at me, he grabbed his stuff and walked out of my bar. "Ugh, I'm tired. Christina are you good on the bar?" "Yeah I'm fine, please have some rest." She said to me and I nodded. I looked down and I saw my guitar. I grabbed it and I walked around the counter and I opened a door that was next to the wine cabinet and I walked up the stairs. Right before the door closed I heard everyone say good night.
"Good night."
