Chapter 9
Warm light hit Sofia's skin as she looked out of her bedroom window, admiring the view of nature.
This was a thing Sofia does often when she has a free period and today was no exception.
Sofia smiled as she saw the two white roses in the vase on her table.
Teresa had given her another white rose, which had sent Sofia a wave of curiousity. She had wondered how Teresa got those in the first place, but decided not ask because she knew that Teresa would try to avoid answering her questions.
A light breeze hit Sofia's face and she could have almost sworn that Teresa had asked one of her friends, Ororo, to perfect the weather. Sofia giggled as another light breeze hit her face again, but that stopped as soon as she felt a strong breeze.
Sofia quickly closed her window before she locked it to prevent the strong wind from coming into her bedroom.
As the young mutant was about to walk away from her window, she noticed something strange.
Sofia saw a pair of red eyes in between the bushes that are not far away from her bedroom. She blinked twice, making sure she wasn't hallucinating.
Sofia could've believed that the red eyes in between the bushes was watching her because it's gaze had not moved anywhere from her direction.
"Sofia?" She jumped in suprise at the sound.
"I'm sorry to have frightened you," Jean apologized.
Sofia's gaze fixed back to the bushes, but the pair of red eyes were no longer there. She was immediately intrigued to find a red rose there instead.
"It's alright, Ms. Grey." She responded.
"Hank had asked me to find you because he wanted to talk to you about something important," Jean informed her. "And please, call me Jean."
The blonde mutant nodded and took her notebook. "Thank you for telling me that, Jean." She replied as Jean gave her a warm smile.
Sofia swallowed hard as soon as Jean had left, wondering what the red eyes she had saw belonged to.
The only person she knows that has red eyes are Scott, but it doesn't make sense if he was the person in between the bushes because if he opened his eyes without his concussion beams, lasers would come out.
It was already settled. Sofia couldn't keep this hidden to herself. She has to tell someone about this. She has to tell Teresa.

"You saw a what?" Teresa raised her eyebrow.
"I saw a pair of red eyes in between the bushes outside of school!" Sofia exclaimed. "Thankfully, I was in my room that time and not outside."
"And you were sure it was watching you?" She inquired.
"Positive!" Sofia nodded vigorously. "It hadn't moved it's eyes from my direction."
Teresa pursed her lips. "You don't have a single clue on who it might be?"
"I thought it might be Scott, but if he was the one in between the bushes, then how were lasers not coming out of his eyes since he wasn't wearing glasses."
"And last I saw Scott, he was still sleeping on his bed," Teresa muttered. "What were you and Hank talking about?"
Sofia raised her eyebrow. "How did you know that I was talking to Hank?" She questioned back.
"Jean told me," was Teresa's simple reply.
"I- I'm not too s-sure-" Sofia stuttered in realization. "I was too deep in my own thoughts about the red eyes in the bushes that I didn't listen to Hank."
"Why don't you go apologize to Hank before class starts?" Teresa suggested.
Sofia nodded. "But I can't tell him about this right?"
The young girl already know the answer to that question but she wanted to ask Teresa to make sure she was correct.
Teresa pursed her lips. "Not yet,"
She nodded and ran off to Hank's classroom to apologize to him.
Teresa bit her lip as she watched Sofia going into Hank's classroom. "What was he doing here?"
Teresa had indeed known who the person watching Sofia was because she had met him before.
After Teresa told Ms. Jane about what had happened with the adult wolf, she advised her to be more careful next time and play nearer to the Orphanage.
Teresa willingly obeyed Ms. Jane, not wanting to upset her and get herself in danger again.
Teresa suddenly frowned. She knew that it would be safer to play near the Orphanage, but she felt like someone was watching her and it was making her feel uncomfortable because she doesn't know who was watching her.
The young mutant turned around, not expecting anyone to be there. However, much to her shock, somebody was indeed watching her.
The person was only a few feet away from her and Lion, but Teresa couldn't see their face because it was covered by the black hood that seemed to be red inside.
"Who are you?" Teresa questioned the hooded person.
The hooded person only smiled, showing off their perfect pearl teeth. However, as the hooded person smiled at Teresa, she immediately noticed that the hooded person was a man.
But the most interesting thing about this man were his eyes. They were red and Teresa thought that his eyes were remarkably beautiful.
Much to Teresa's suprise, she had found them soothing as she continued to look deep into his eyes.
Even though Teresa found the mysterious man's red eyes soothing, she was still cautious with him because she doesn't know him that well, which makes him a stranger to her.
"Teresa!" Ms. Jane shouted from the Orphanage as Teresa glanced back at the hooded man but quickly realized that he had disappeared.
As Ms. Jane escorted Teresa and Lion back to the Orphanage, she quickly locked the door several times to make sure no one comes in and checked Teresa for any injuries.
After Ms. Jane had found none, she started to scold the young girl, "Teresa Rosalie! What were you thinking?!"
"Do you remember the rules, young lady?" Teresa slowly nodded.
"Not to talk to strangers," She replied as Ms. Jane sighed.
"Teresa," Ms. Jane started. "you're a smart girl, you should've known better than to talk to strangers. But I do know that you are a reasonable person and I want to know why you were talking to that man."
"How did you noticed that the hooded person was a man?" Teresa tilted her head.
"I'm a detailed person, Teresa." Ms. Jane responded.
"Well," She started. "I felt like someone was watching me for unknown reasons, so I turned around and saw him. I was curious to know who he was, so I asked him, but he didn't say anything. He just smiled,"
Ms. Jane hummed, listening to Teresa's explanation, before nodding. "Yes, it would seemed that the person was just...lost."
"How so?" Teresa inquired.
"There are things you don't know in life, Teresa." Ms. Jane told her. "Mutants aren't entirely accepted by society."
Teresa frowned. "Why not?"
"We are different. Mutants are different and some humans hates everything that's different or more to be exact, something that they don't entirely understand." Ms. Jane grimaced. "That's why most of us went into hiding."
"Most of us?" The young mutant questioned.
Ms. Jane shook her head as she grabbed a warm mug from the table near her and slowly stirred the liquid in it using a small spoon.
"That's a story for another time," She said as a warm smile graced her face, handing the warm mug to Teresa. "For now, have some hot chocolate."
"Mutants aren't entirely accepted by society," Teresa muttered quietly with her eyes closed.
She had wished several times that society could just accept mutants, but life wasn't very fair.
Mutants were making a difference in the world and most people were against them because they fear them of what they could do. They fear them because they don't fully understand mutants.
Teresa was numb to what other people think of mutants, but she was very sure that she would get enraged if Sofia were to ever be in a cage just because she was a mutant.
Teresa knew what society could do and she was angered by it. Little kids could be locked up in a cage for something they are. Something they can't control.
Humans were confused to why there are a lot damages made because of mutants, but had humans ever done anything right to mutants?
Before mutants become what they are now, they were innocent humans too.
Humans just wants someone to get blamed, so that they wouldn't get trouble themselves.
Back to what Sofia had told Teresa, she was very curious to why the hooded man was watching Sofia.
Not from a far distance either, so he could easily get caught by a student or teacher.
However, Teresa thinks that the hooded man either wants to purposely get caught by Sofia or he wants to take a better look of her.
The young mutant pursed her lips as she paced around the empty hall.
Teresa doesn't think that the hooded man didn't think that he wouldn't get caught by someone. He was smart for that.
Well, he must be old. Teresa thought to herself. If not, then the hooded man must be a...teenager when we first met?
She was confused to the red-eyed man's sudden appearance. However, she was sure of one thing. He was a smart and possibly powerful mutant with red eyes.
Teresa sighed, knowing what she has to do after classes were over.
"This day couldn't any worse," she muttered, walking to her class.
***
"Teresa! This day was getting worse by the minute!" Peter exclaimed as he took off his goggles from his silver hair.
A few strands of his hair made it's way to his face, but he easily blew it back.
Teresa groaned, putting her book down to focus on her half-brother. "What now?"
Teresa's narrowed light blue eyes met Peter's calm brown eyes. Both of them were different in many ways, one of them were the colour of their eyes. But even though they're different, they're still close to each other. Suprisingly.
"It's about Erik," She froze at the mention of their father. "he's staying in the school for a little while."
"How little?"
"Well," Peter started. "Charles said that he would be gone for about two months."
Teresa slammed her book loudly on the wooden table next to her.
"And that's not all," he muttered.
"Oh! Tell me, what could possibly be worse than our biological father staying in the same mansion as we are staying?!" She jumped back on her bed with an annoyed expression.
Peter shook his head. "The reason why he wants to stay in the mansion for two months was because he found out that he has a biological child there."
Silence filled the room as Peter's shocking news echoed around Teresa's head.
"How?" She snapped.
Peter shrugged. "I have no idea, but Charles was also curious to who it was. Which means Charles and Erik don't know that he actually has two biological children that are still alive in this mansion."
Teresa raised her eyebrow. "And exactly, how do we know which of us he thinks was his biological child?"
"No offence, Teresa," He started. "But you're always a mysterious mutant and I'm not."
"But let's not forget that he had seen me once," She reminded him.
"You two didn't even talk!" Peter protested. "I did! And let's not forget that I had accidentally told him that my mom once knew a man who had the same power as him and rumours are starting around the school that Erik might be my biological dad."
"How did they even get that idea in the first place?" Teresa wondered.
Peter shrugged. "Most rumours aren't true,"
"But some are," Teresa added as she looked out of her bedroom window.
Do not copy. Hello everyone! As you all might notice, I had taken down most of the chapters in the book. The reason I am doing that was because I wanted to edit the story and I had planned on unpublishing it, but can't due to the several awards I entered. So, this was the idea that I came up with. Hope you enjoy this chapter!
