Chapter 10
Hailey Horan walked across the hallway as the students there started whispering about her with both curiousity and admiration.
She shifted uncomfortably at the crowded hall as her brown hair, which was pulled into a ponytail, bounced slightly.
Hailey was certainly not used to the attention she was getting. She found it quite odd because it was usually her sister getting attention and admiration while she was the loner and mysterious sister that people tend to avoid.
But then again, she hadn't gone to a school for mutants before, so she couldn't really say much about it.
Perhaps they were talking about the dazzling outfit Elizabeth had chosen for her to wear or they were talking about something more....personal.
Maybe, they had found out that I was the one causing the ground to shake. Hailey thought to herself as she tightened her grip on her books.
Hailey was completely fine with people knowing that she was the cause of it because she doesn't want Jean taking the blame for her mistake and after all, it was her responsibility.
Hailey's father had once told her to take responsibility for the mistakes that she has done and she tend to listen to her father.
For whatever reason the students were staring and talking about her, she still hated the attention and continued to shift uncomfortably.
This went noticed by Teresa, who was thankfully among the crowded students in the hallway.
She sighed dramatically, catching the attention of those who were around her. Teresa walked towards Hailey with a blank expression and the crowd parted as she led the new student from the crowded hallway, but not before a few whispers headed towards their way.
"No way! Hailey Horan is the first new student to be approached by Teresa willingly."
"We can see that, Nathan." Warren rolled his eyes as he gazed his eyes in the mirror in his locker, the dark bags under his eyes had caught his attention. The blonde haired mutant frowned deeply as he touched the dark eye bags.
"Getting old sucks, buddy," said Scott.
Warren snorted as he shut his locker closed. "I should be the one telling you that, since you've got some good old dark eye bags too and you're younger than me." He smirked, seeing Scott's face flushed in embarrassment.
"Hey! I wouldn't have gotten these dark eye bags if it wasn't for your begging to help you with-"
"You two are already arguing about getting dark eye bags when both of you are not as old as me," Hank remarked and he pointed at his eyes. "And look, no dark eye circles underneath my eyes."
"Didn't you have dark circles yesterday and the day before in class?" Scott started with an odd expression.
"Well-"
"And the day before that, along with the whole week?" Warren interjected.
Not wasting a single second, he patted Hank's shoulder. "You just got lucky today, Hank."
Hank shook his head as the two teenage mutants walked passed him.
"Kids these days," he murmured. "Very annoying, but can be observant and defensive at times."
"Thank you," Hailey muttered as Teresa led her to their next class.
"You're welcome," She replied. "Usually, I wouldn't do something like that for just anyone."
"What made you do it?" Hailey questioned as they stopped their tracks in an empty hallway.
"I like you," She mused, seeing Hailey's stunned expression. "You're fun to spend time with."
"Because I'm quiet," stated Hailey.
"No," Teresa paused as she glanced at the brown-eyed mutant and continued to walk to their classroom. "It's because you hate the attention just as much as I do."
Hailey smiled slightly for the first time ever since she got to the school. "We've got a thing or two in common." She remarked as they had finally reached their classroom.

Sofia moved a strand of her blonde hair as she turned to the next page of the book Hank had given her for a light reading.
With the wind passing through the leaves of the tree that Sofia was under, several of the leaves fell and some gracefully followed the wind.
A beautiful purple butterfly passed Sofia as she hummed a soft tune. The butterfly landed softly onto a small leaf near the trees beside Sofia.
All of a sudden, the butterfly fluttered away from the leaf when something had caught it's attention.
Sofia tilted her head as she carefully watched the butterfly's movement, trying to figure out what had caught it's attention.
The butterfly landed on a bush as it tried to take something out of it.
This had not went unnoticed by Sofia as she tilted her head even more to figure out what's inside the bush until finally, she stood up and walk towards the bush to retrieve the object inside it.
Out of curiousity, Sofia placed her hand into the bush, but flinched in pain when she felt something sharp gazed upon her finger and pulled her hand away. Sofia looked at the blood that was gushing out of the cut on her finger. Thankfully, the cut wasn't too deep. However, Sofia has to admit that it still hurts.
Not giving up, she placed her hand back into the bush. This time, she was much more careful.
Sofia grinned when she felt an object in the very bottom of the bush. She grabbed it and took it out to see what it was.
And much to her suprise, the item that had caught the butterfly's attention was an envelope.
Sofia hummed in disapproval, but opened the envelope to see what's inside.
"Magneto knows about his children."
Sofia wore an odd expression as she looked back at the bush. "What does that mean?" She asked.
All of sudden, a wave of realization hit Sofia as she noticed something strange about the bush and crawled away from it with a frightened expression. The hooded man had hid in the exact same bush.
And that's when Teresa and Hank heard Sofia's scream of terror as their hearts dropped into their stomach, rushing towards her direction without a second thought.
"She seems alright," Hank informed the dark haired mutant. "A little bit shaken, but unharmed."
"That's good to hear," stated Teresa.
With reluctance, Hank gave Teresa the envelope Sofia had found, but some part of it now had stains of blood.
"Those stains of blood belongs to Sofia," Hank told her. "She must've held the envelope with her injured finger."
"I hope so," Teresa quietly muttered as she opened the envelope and read it.
"Who gave this to her?" She inquired as she folded the envelope with narrowed eyes after she had finished reading it.
"No one gave it to her," Hailey stated as the two mutants turned to her. "She found it in the bushes near the tree she was sitting under."
Hank pursed his lips and crossed his arms. He was curious to what was written in the envelope, but he would rather take care of Sofia than to waste his time and read it.
After all, Hank doubted that Teresa would let him, judging by the reaction on her face.
She had not shown too much of her reaction, but Hank could see a slight...curiousity in her eyes.
All of a sudden, a certain beautiful red haired mutant barged into the room. "Hank, I'm sorry to barge in, but Charles wants to see you." Jean told him as she glanced at Teresa. "He said that it was an emergency."

Sofia leaned against the tree as one of her friends, Lily, frowned. "Are you sure you're allowed to go outside again, Sofia?" She asked softly.
"Teresa and Hank said that I could," Sofia told the blonde-haired mutant.
"Under the condition that someone has to look after you." Warren added as he popped up behind them.
"That sounds about right," Lily piped up.
"Who even asked you to look after me?" Sofia questioned.
"Hank did," He answered.
Sofia hummed as Lily tries to touch Warren's wings, but he quickly pulled them away. She pouted. "I wanna touch it,"
"Why?" Warren furrowed his eyebrows.
"Because it looks soft and fluffy like a pillow!" Lily exclaimed, throwing her hands up in the air.
Warren pursed his lip as he pulled a large feather from his wing and gave it to Lily. "That's my present for the rest of the year."
"Thank you!" Lily said excitedly as she placed the feather in one of her books. "I don't want to lose it."
"But what if you did?" Sofia inquired.
"I would ask him for another one- Hey! Where did he go?" Lily said, looking around for the winged mutant.
Sofia glanced above to see Warren sitting on the tree as she shook her head with a smile. "Is that...Magneto?" Lily titled her head in confusion.
"Lily, don't be ridiculous," Sofia frowned. "That's not-"
Sofia stopped her sentence when she saw a certain dark haired mutant in front of the gates.
The mutant held out his hand as the gates bended to his will until it looked crushed. The broken gates was easily levitated in the air as it was thrown to a direction where there were no students.
The students who were in a different direction looked at Erik Lehnsherr also known as Magneto with a shock expression as some of them rushed into the school, intending to tell Charles or Hank.
"What is he doing here?" Warren's eyes widen as he grabbed the two little girls who were under the tree and flew off to the school's entrance.
The school's entrance was complete chaos as students came to see what the commotion was about.
"What's going on here?" Jean demanded as she walked up to Warren.
"Erik is here," He answered. "I have no idea why everyone is panicking, but he was not invited here."
"Everyone thinks that he's going to attack the school," Jean sighed as she massaged her forehead.
"Because he destroyed the metal gates?" Warren inquired.
The red-haired mutant nodded in confirmation. "Honestly, why exactly do we have gates that are made of metal?"
"Back when Apocalypse had destroyed the school, he had also destroyed the front gates and Erik wanted to repair it. However, he could only control metal, so he decided to build a gate made of metal." She explained.
"Because he could only control metal," Warren stated as the two little girls continued to hug him tightly, so that they wouldn't get lost in the crowd full of panicked students, along with teachers who were trying to calm them down.
"Calm down," Jean tried to soothe the crowd. "He's not going to try and hurt us!"
But no one was listening. They were too busy running around the school's entrance with a panicked expression.
"I can't get them to calm down," Jean said with a frustrated expression as her head ached even more.
"Ororo!" Sofia cried out as she pulled away from Warren and towards the white haired mutant near them.
"Sofia!" Lily exclaimed.
Ororo quickly caught onto Sofia as she looked down at the little blonde-haired mutant. "You need to use your powers inside the school!"
"But Charles wouldn't let me do that!" Ororo protested.
"Ororo, a student just got injured because they accidentally got run over by the crowd." Jean informed her, wide-eyed.
All of a sudden, a grey cloud formed above the crowd as it began to grow larger. Until finally, the cloud was large enough to catch everyone's attention. But the noise from the students were only getting louder, so Ororo held her hand out as a loud grumble startled the students and they became quiet in fear.
"Since all of you have nothing to panic about," Ororo started. "listen to Jean Grey and don't try to make too much noises, unless you want the school to get wet!"
Everyone immediately looked at Jean who was awkwardly standing beside Jubilee. She cleared her throat, "Everyone, please remain calm and collected. Magneto is not here to try and hurt us."
"Well, what is he here for then?" A male student demanded as he got slapped by a female student behind him.
"Shut up, will you?! I don't want the school getting wet." She exclaimed.
Jean nodded in agreement. "It is to my knowledge that Erik only wants to talk to Charles and Hank about something important, which means everyone needs to stay calm and do the normal things you usually do."
"Like what?" The same male student asked again, earning another slap in the face. This time, it was from a different female student.
"Like doing your homework for tomorrow's assignment, Bradley." Jean said. "You're already failing Hank's class. Some extra marks from your homework could be very useful."
The two female students behind Bradley snickered as he huffed in annoyance. "How are we sure that Magneto won't hurt us? This was the person who fought alongside Apocalypse,"
"But so did I," Ororo remarked as she took a dangerous step towards him, the clouds above the students darkened slightly.
"And I did too," Warren glared at Bradley, but smirked slightly when he saw a tint of fear in his eyes.
The poor blonde-haired mutant was currently facing with a deadly winged mutant, along with a powerful mutant who could easily strike change the weather and struck him to death with lightning.
"Enough," Teresa's calm and soothing voice rang through everyone's ears as they watched the dark haired mutant take care of the situation. "We don't want anyone to cause trouble."
She paused and looked around, "We have a guest coming to the school and Charles expects us to greet him warmly. There's no need for a fight."
"But-"
"No excuses, Warren." The dark haired mutant's strict voice stopped the winged mutant from arguing.
He glanced at Bradley, "This conversation isn't over yet."
"Teresa's correct," Jean cleared her throat. "Charles expects us to greet Erik warmly and respectfully."
She turned to Bradley with a blank expression. "As for your question, Erik had helped built the mansion back to it's original place as an apology and he had also helped destroy Apocalypse in the end."
Bradley scoffed. "Well, I don't think most of the students accepts his apology. He was the villain and will become one again."
"He became the villain for a reason," He flinched at the harshness in Teresa's voice. "Erik Lehnsherr had a terrible childhood and had to endure tough situations. Some of them with bad choices."
"Exactly! Who's to say that he might make another bad choice?!" Bradley exclaimed.
"And who's to say you won't be making another bad choice in your life?" She replied, ignoring on how pale Bradley's face had quickly gotten. "Don't make everyone remind you of your past, Bradley."
"It won't be pretty," remarked Scott.
"No one's past is pretty if they had a bad one," Lily spoke up softly as she continues to hid behind Warren's light wings.
A pause of silence filled the school's entrance as the students watched each other, wondering what might happened next.
"Do not be afraid, my students." Charles' voice rang throughout the entrance as his figure appeared in front of the crowd. "Magneto is only here to....talk with me about something important. He will not harm any of you."
Teresa glanced at Sofia with an unreadable expression, much to Warren's dismay.
He had thought that Teresa really cared for the little girl, but now he was starting to doubt himself. In truth, Teresa does care about Sofia. She just doesn't show her emotions because she doesn't want everyone to see ber vulnerable. She would rather look cold and strong than look caring but weak.
Weak was something no one would describe Teresa, especially if they knew what her powers were. After all, everyone were already intimidated by Teresa's mysterious powers because the unknown was something that nearly everyone feared, especially Jean.
Jean Grey was powerful mutant, but not as powerful as Teresa. And that's one of the reasons why Jean was interested in Teresa, but she was also cautious because she feared her. The unknown was not something Jean often experienced. She had the gift of telepathy, which gave her the ability to read nearly everyone's minds, everyone except Teresa and Sofia.
Much to Jean's dismay, she didn't feared, neither was she cautious with Sofia. Mainly because of her age; Jean thinks that Sofia was young and not as smart as Teresa was, so she wasn't too intimidated. Though, it worried her that she might underestimate Sofia and karma will hit her before she even realize it.
"I didn't expect you all to be here at the school's entrance," A deep voice said as the crowd froze, many of them recognizing whom the voice belonged to.
Erik grinned and clapped his hands once. "Well, this would only make things much easier." He gestured the students to move out of the way to Charles' office as everyone quickly made way for him, not wanting to witness the wrath of the infamous villain they had heard so much about.
Erik stopped and glanced at a certain silver haired mutant, who was standing in front of Teresa, unknowingly hiding her from their biological father. "We'll talk later, Peter Maximoff." The adult mutant told the teenager with a sly smile before he walked away as everyone glanced at him.
Peter gulped. "It looks like he knows something that you don't want him to know," Teresa remarked, realizing that their biological father had just met one of his children with knowledge of their true identity.
