prologue

Kenna ran through the streets, pushing past others as she made her way from the apartment building. Behind her chased another man. Steve Rogers. Or Captain America, as he's most commonly known. It wasn't even one of her better heists. All she'd stolen was a list of movies and tv shows that the Captain had wanted to watch. She didn't need it, nor really want it, but it was the thrill that had pushed her forward. The Captain had many things from his past in his apartment. An old record player, lots of old records to go with it, and much more. There were some modern tones in there. Like the microwave and electric stove and... so it was more of an old people place than modern, really. Kenna may be a damn good pickpocket, but she was no liar. Unless she needed. Then she was damn good at that, too. She was really good at a little bit of everything. But she was best at pickpocketing and thieving.

Kenna kept running, pushing her legs and body far past their limit. She took a sharp turn left and headed down a dark side street. Traffic was up ahead. Without missing a beat, she ran through it, narrowly avoiding being hit by the honking cars and angry drivers. She glanced behind her, but she didn't see anyone chasing after her. She knew better than to think she'd lost him.

If anything, he was now ahead of her.

Kenna stopped on the sidewalk, surveying around her, looking for the Captain. As she turned away, a hand grabbed her arm and pulled her into an alley. She was shoved roughly against the wall of a building. The Captain wasn't in the least bit winded, unlike Kenna.

"Give it back," He said.

"What?" Kenna said, playing dumb.

"My list. You broke into my apartment and you took it," Cap replied.

"Did I? I can't seem to recall," Kenna said.

"I'm not asking again,"

The brunette reached into her back pocket, pulling out the list and a card.

"This was fun. Contact me, maybe we can do it again sometime," Kenna handed it back to him.

He let her go, putting the list in his back pocket and looking at the card.

"Thanks," Cap said.

"No problem,"

Kenna began walking away, tired now that her adrenaline rush was gone. She continued walking towards her apartment, which was really just a shithole with a fancy name. But it was the best she could afford.

As she got inside, she realized something was off. She quickly grabbed something, something she stole but she wasn't sure. A wave of air moved towards her and slammed her into a wall. She didn't hear anything but screams as she passed out, veins of something glowing pulsing through her body.
