Chapter 6
Flashback
Draco dropped my mother and I off at the Malfoy's hideout. My mother went inside to look around as Draco gave me a saddened look.
"I'm going to miss you," he said, "I'll try to contact you as soon as possible. I promise."
"You have told your mum we're here, haven't you?" I asked worriedly.
He nodded and hugged me gently, "It'll be okay."
And with that, he turned with a guilty but sad smile and walked away.
End of Flashback
That was the last time I'd seen Draco. It had been three months. I was beginning to wonder whether he was even alive or if he'd forgotten about me.
"Maybe he didn't want to come back in the first place," I cried to my mother, tears salty and streaming down my cheeks like a parade.
"Darling," she sighed, "Of course he does. Why else would you have that ring on your finger?"
"A way to get me to oblige," I huffed.
"He loves you," my mother scowled at me.
I breathed heavily, laying on the concrete floor.
"I love him," I whispered to myself as my mum walked away.
The seal began to rattle and I stepped back. My mother ran to my side and pointed her wand at it.
What was now considered our front door opened, revealing a young boy my age. Blaise.
"I'm not here to hurt you!" He said, putting his wand in his pocket.
He passed a letter to me, "From Draco."
"Draco? Is he okay?!" I urged, gripping Blaise's sleeve tight.
"He's fine," he smiled, "The Dark Lord is still keeping watch on him, but he should be able to visit soon. I know we aren't exactly on the best of terms, but he trusts me more than anyone up there, I suppose."
"I don't blame him," I sighed and turned to my mother, "This is Blaise. This is my mum."
"I've got to go," Blaise said quietly, "It was nice seeing both of you looking well. Draco will be pleased."
And with that, the seal closed behind him.
I glanced at my mother who nodded her head towards the letter. She left the room, and I plonked on the floor cross-legged.
Evelyn,
I'm so sorry I haven't been able to visit you. I have a feeling the Dark Lord is not completely convinced that I killed you, but he is easing up on me. I think I should be able to visit you soon.
I cried when I told him that you were dead. It wasn't because you are or that I don't have the greatest faith I can keep you alive - it was because I already miss you.
I have a feeling you had begun to doubt me, so I had to do this. Just remember that I love you.
Draco.
I felt my heart swell with relief as I read Draco's words. It made a part of me become hopeful that everything would be okay soon.
