story

There was a cold breeze that swept over the clearing one early sunrise. ThunderClan stood at the top of the hill, waiting for ShadowClan to approach over the horizon so they could strike. All the cats were anxious, Lightpaw could tell. Their tails were waving, their paws shifting with nervousness. Though their jaws were moving, she couldn't make out any words, due to her deafness.

Admittedly, while it was a pain to her, it was something that she had adapted to. Her leader always used signals with his tail, so it wasn't very hard. She didn't have to just hear things. She could see them, and feel them. It was fine without.

Her eyes darted up when she saw movement from the bushes. ShadowClan warriors one by one hissed and crawled out, facing ThunderClan boldly. Their chests puffed out, their claws sinking into the ground, they looked menancing. Though, Lightpaw would never admit that. She hid the urge to shrink back into the crowd of her clanmates, forcing herself to stick her chest out and gaze over the warriors.

Soon, a large, bulkier tom stepped out of the bushes, his head raised.

[IC] That must be the leader of ShadowClan!

Gazing at the tom with wide eyes, she saw his jaw open as he spoke to ThunderClan's leader, in response he thrust back a retort that she wouldn't have been able to hear.

Stopping, no one moved. Though, moments later, Lightpaw's leader raised his tail, turning his head as his mouth moved once more. That was the signal to attack.

Immediately, Lightpaw was rushed downhill with her clanmates pushing at her, their faces distorted into scowls and snarls. Soon, she was in the middle of the battle, her eyes wide as she cast her gaze from side to side, cautious of any attackers.

Almost immediately after she had turned her head to the side, a sudden weight fell on her, knocking her off of her feet. A cat from ShadowClan was pinning her down, their teeth snapping at her neck. Surpressing a shriek, she suddenly went limp into the black tom's touch. He seemed to loosen, thinking that she was defeated, before she scowled, using her feet to claw at his belly before propelling her feet into the soft skin, pushing him back and into the air.

The cat tumbled down, twisting about before landing on top of a group of cats. Their mouths moved, their tails twitched in annoyance, but nothing happened. All the cats in the clearing stopped, making Lightpaw confused. She cast her green gaze around, looking at all the cats in the clearing. She could tell they were panting by the movement of their chests. It was a small, yet harsh fight.

She twitched her tail, watching as the ShadowClan leader mewed a reply to his clan before they spun around and plunged back into the bushes. Lightpaw remained there for several moments, keeping her head in the air while taking in deep breaths.

Suddenly, a tail tip touched her shoulder. She spun her head around, scowling, though relaxed when she saw the bulky body of her leader. Instead of saying anything that would be difficult for her to understand, he simply nodded before nudging her into the path of her clanmates limping back to camp.

I'm a warrior.
