Ms. Chatham's Knowledge

They had been walking for sometimes now before arriving at a Nursing Home.

Harry and Hermione waited as Cleo did the talking and then motioned for them to follow her as they walked to the garden.

Hermione looks around and nods in approval. She was of the idea that the British Magical should have places like this one for creatures and even Squibs that had nowhere to go after either losing everything or were thrown out. She planned to have a bill passed for this to be possible.

"There she is, on the bench."

Sitting on the bench was an elder woman with light blue clothes and blond hair. She had a friendly air to her and was looking out towards the flowers in relaxation.

"Ms. Chatham!"

The woman, Ms. Chatham turns to Cleo and smiles. "Cleo, what a pleasant surprise! I haven't seen you in some time. How are you and the others doing?" She asks Cleo before her eyes land on Harry and Hermione before they widen some and she gasps.

Harry and Hermione also gasp, they could feel that she was different like them, but it was easy to miss. As if it were diluted to near nothing.

"You...You have the gift." She says while looking at them.

"And you used to." Harry says as he steps closer to her with a smile and offers his hand. "It's nice to meet you Ms. Chatham. My name's Harry and this is my best friend Hermione."

"It's a pleasure to meet you both darlings. When were you blessed?"

"A week ago Ms. Chatham. Last full moon."

"Were there only two of you or is there a third?" She asks.

"No ma'am, it was just us two."

"Oh dear, that's odd. There have always been three."

"Mione and I were the only ones there that night."

"And you feel...ready enough for such a strong gift?"

Harry and Hermione look at each other with a glint in their eyes 'if only she knew.' "We are, and we know not to abuse it and be careful with it. Not to mention we also know not to come in direct contact with water if we don't want to be exposed." Harry tells her with Hermione nodding.

"That's good to hear, but I feel there is more to this visit than just letting me know you share your secret with two more individuals."

"We were hoping you could tell us more on how it's possible," came Hermione's request. "We found nothing in the library other than a lot of stories, legends and myths on mermaids. Nothing on Moon Pools or why the combination of a full moon and Moon Pool could turn someone into...us."

"Well...I had some scrolls and books I managed to find about the gift you now have. Sadly...its all with Lorelei."

"Well maybe we can ask Lorelei for them." Hermione says with a look of worry, until Cleo and Ms. Chatham started to chuckle. "What's so funny?"

"Lorelei isn't a person Hermione, it was Ms. Chatham's boat before it sunk a year or so ago. I know where it rests so we can go anytime you guys are able to." Cleo explains and the duo nods.

Hermione frowns, "if the books and scrolls are underwater they will more than likely be damaged beyond saving or for us to even read." Another chuckle from Ms. Chatman brought her out of her dilemma. "What's so funny?"

"It's funny because that would be the case were the books normal ones. Luckily for you, the ones I collected are about mermaids. That means that water won't damage them," she explains to Hermione who frowns more at the information.

"Before we do that; Ms. Chatham is there anything else you can tell us about or secret?" Harry asks.

"All will be in Lorelei, Harry. However, I can tell you that even though you now share Cleo's and her friends secret, we aren't the only ones to exist." Ms. Chatham says before getting up and leaving.

Cleo watched her leave, confused but Harry and Hermione stared at her retreating form in shock. She had basically confirmed she knew of more merpeople and that not all of them had been turned like they have.

"Don't worry to much about her. She always speaks like that so we can figure it out." Cleo explains as she turns and walks towards the exit, Harry and Hermione following a few steps behind.

"Do you suspect she may have encountered merpeople from the Wizarding World?" Harry asks Hermione quietly as they walk out the building.

"It sounded like that, I mean from what she said about the books and scrolls. But...if that's the case how come no one as Obliviated her of that knowledge? Do you think she could be a Squib?"

"Not sure Hermione, but if she is it would explain why she knows. If she isn't it could be because she used to be a mermaid or Magicals deemed her as non-threatening," Harry concluded as they followed Cleo to the water and run into Rikki, Emma and Lewis, along with a new face. And judging by the look on Cleo's face, she wasn't happy with the red haired girl.

"Hi guys, hi Charlotte..." she greets them, though her friendliness stopped with them as she greeted the red head, Charlotte with annoyance.

"Hi Cleo. Lewis and I were heading to the mall when we ran in Rikki and Emma." Charlotte says before her eyes land on the two people behind Cleo, "I haven't seen you around before."

"That's because we recently moved here. I'm Hermione and this is Harry." Hermione introduces both of them. When Harry remains silent, she turns to him and frowns when she sees the look on his face as he looks at Charlotte. To anyone else it would look like he was wary of new people. Hermione, who's known him for a big chunk of her life, has seen that look on him before.

He only used it when he had a feeling about the individual in question, and it usually wasn't a good one.

After a moment, he nods at Charlotte and checks his watch. "Mione, we should be heading back. Andy and Teddy are waiting for us. Sorry to say hi and bye so soon but we have to be off. Nice meeting you Charlotte." With that he nods at them and walks away with Hermione close by.

"Harry?"

"I don't trust her Mione. There's something off about her. It's not strong but I'm not going to be friendly with her." Harry explains as they round a corner and find an isolated are before Dissaparating from there.

Back at the house, they ate a light meal and Hermione went to call more dentist offices and Harry was with Andromeda, learning about Wizarding politics, inner circles, how many seats he has, what alliances House Potter has with other Houses as well as all the branches and connections people had.

Sadly, this also includes the bribers of the bunch.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was night now and Harry had gone for a swim.
All the politic studies had frustrated him to the point of almost having items around him explode, and the basement wasn't yet a complete dueling room for him to let out his frustration and stress.
He knew that playing the political game was going to cause him multiple headaches, but because of how backwards British politics and laws are, the headaches were going to be migraines.
Swimming to Mako and into the deeper parts to avoid any unwanted attention from the glowing of his tail, he finds himself coming upon what could only be a ship graveyard.
Curious, he swam closer to inspect the ships. The water was dark, even the subtle glow of his tail didn't help as much. Taking out his wand, he looked around in case he wasn't alone. He knew he couldn't really talk underwater, so he decided to try and cast a charm non-verbally.
"Lumos."
The tip of his wand lit up and he grinned in triumph. Now with better lighting, he kept exploring. Most were fishermen boats, that is until he came about older looking ones. If Harry could take a guess they were a couple of hundred years old. Maybe more.
One in particular caught his attention.
It was old, old enough for to already most of it covered in corals and seaweed, and somehow well preserved. Giant masts at the deck and parts of the sails still remain. It was beautiful and Harry couldn't help but think that it was a pirate ship, the only thing he needed to confirm this was a flag or find the remains of the crew. He wasn't looking forward to the latter.
Not a lot of fish were around, so Harry thought it best to be careful in case there was a shark or something of the sort lurking about. He wanted to explore it, but after years of recklessly diving head first into something with no plan or back up and his Auror training, he knew better than to head inside.
So he explored the ship from the outside, swimming on the deck and feeling the decaying wood and smiling at the thought of what life as a pirate would have been like. Especially if he had his magic.
Deciding to leave the exploring for when Hermione, Andromeda and maybe Teddy were with him, he cast a spell to let him know the location of the ship and swam to the surface to get some bearings from up top as well. He breaks the surface and looks around, noticing that he was a few kilometers from the other side of Mako.
Looking up, he smiles and relaxes some as he stares into the night sky. His smile fades when he remembers Sirius and tries to find the constellation he was named after only to come up blank. Sighing and taking a final look around, he dives and heads back to his home at high speed.
