A Day in the Australian Magical District

While Harry remained behind in Gringotts, the rest of the group stood in front of the bank and looked around with huge smiles on their faces.

"Alright, where would you like to go first? Remember we have to stay together." Andromeda informs.

"Can't Hermione be with some of us and you with the others Andromeda?" Rikki asks with Emma nodding at the idea.

"Unfortunately that won't be a good idea. Neither Hermione or myself have been to this district but once and we aren't familiar with the district yet. Another time it we could, for now lets walk around and go to the stores that have the majority of the votes. Alright?" Andromeda asks and the group nods before walking in between both Andromeda and Hermione, little Teddy being carried still.

"Why don't we go to the bookstore girls?" Lewis asks with Emma and Cleo agreeing but Rikki rolling her eyes. "Come on Rikki, you gotta admit that there may be books in there that may catch your eye."

"I very much doubt it but whatever, I'm outvoted." Rikki walks over to the building and waits for the rest to walk in before she follows, only for her eyes to widen in shock and she barely kept her jaw firmly shut.

The inside was humongous!

There were multiple floors, more than should be possible seeing as how the building looked like it only had two floors from the outside. The inside was well lit with lights and natural lighting even. Rikki also noticed how spaced it was, there were even tables in certain areas which she considered odd. Usually when it came to bookstores only kids were allowed to read and teens to adults had to buy the books if they wanted to read.

"Hermione...how is this possible?" Emma asked as she slowly turns to her.

"Do you want the long or short explanation?"

"Long/short." Emma and Rikki said at the same time, causing Hermione to chuckle.

"Long first. The building is bigger on the inside to Expanding Charms, along with some warding for electricity to be used safely, self cleaning charms, maybe even some runes to help the foundation be stable. It looks like a combined effort from goblins and magicals but don't let this fool you, due to the size I estimate it took weeks to maybe a couple of months to finish.

"Short answer? Magic."

"Oh, is that all then?" Rikki said sarcastically but had no bite in it. "How are we supposed to find anything we might be interested in here?"

"We can ask the store owner, that's the best place to start." Andromeda says as she walks past them and they follow. Soon Andromeda found someone that works there, "hello sir."

"Welcome to The Lore Keeper, how may I help you?"

"Hello. We were hoping you could help us find books we are interested in. This is our first visit to the store."

"Oh! Well I'll be more than happy to help you find what you're looking for or are curious about. Who wants to go first?"

Without losing a beat, Emma went first. "I'd like to know more about the magical history here in Australia."

"Ah, a history lover. You may find said books on the second floor, three rows after the stairs, along with biographies and autobiographies of people and creatures that helped in the making of the community." The owner said and with that, Emma almost ran to the stairs to look for the books. Next, the worker turned to Cleo and Lewis.

"I would like to know about...potions?" Cleo says, making Rikki shake her head at how shy she could be sometimes. Lewis puts a hand on her shoulder and nods. "Yes, I want to know about potions."

The owner smiles and looks at her, I take it you're a beginner when it comes to potions?"

"I am."

"In that case you're also going to need books on magical and none magical plants, however since you're new to Potions and Herbology from the looks of things, I must ask you limit yourself to only two beginners book of each."

"Only two? but--"

"Trust me miss, two will be more than sufficient to keep you busy. Along with the fact that you seem to be too eager to jump into the more advanced and harder ones."

"He's right Cleo," Hermione says with Andromeda agreeing. "Potions is one of the most volatile and dangerous areas of magic. One wrong ingredient, a missed step or not knowing what each ingredient can do by itself or with others and you can find yourself with the potion exploding in your face or it can turn deadly."

"Your friend is right, so please treat Potions with the respect they deserve." The owner finishes and Cleo nods. "Potions books are right here on the first floor, Herbology plants on the third and regular ones on the fourth. If the stairs aren't what you would like there is a levitation platform to the side, just say the floor you would like to head to."

Cleo nods and then looks at Lewis. "I would like to know about magical creatures."

"From what region?"

"Oh uh...well I'm curious about any magical creatures here in Australia. Both on land and the sea if possible."

"Do you want to focus on current living ones, ones that are extinct or both?"

"Both please."

"Fourth floor as well a few rows down from the Herbology/Botanical books."

Both of them nod in thanks and head over to the platform with Hermione, whom wanted to know more about the plants in Australia and to stay close by in case something would happen. Finally he tuned to Rikki and waited for her request in book category.

She however, wasn't really interested in books so she said the first thing that came to mind. "Relics and treasures that are lost or supposed myths." She said with crossed arms and not looking at the owner but rather away and up so she didn't see the glimmer in his eye.

"Oh! Do we have a future treasure hunter in the making?" He asks, making Rikki turn to him in shock.

"Wait, there are such books? There are treasure hunters here?"

"Of course, not many go into this profession due to a combination of the dangers, the amount of time that has to be spent researching the stories as well as being near perfect in Warding, Rune work, Charms, Defense Against the Dark Arts and even Magical Creatures. It takes years to get a grasp, even if your someone's intern and even longer to be able to do it on your own. This also includes normal No-Maj treasures."

"No-Maj? Is that another term for Muggle?" Rikki asks and the owner nods. "I think I prefer that over Muggle, what about you Andromeda?"

"I must say I agree. Now that I think about it...Muggle sounds like an insult all on its own, doesn't it?" She says before turning to the owner. "Do you have books about treasures that have been found as well?"

"Indeed, and those are on the sixth floor, the lift would be your best option. I have children's books as well here on the first floor for the lad too."

"Thank you. Come on Rikki," Andromeda walks to the lift with a more excited Rikki at her heels.

With Emma:

Emma was looking through the spines of the history tomes, trying to figure out which ones to choose. She decided to focus on Australian Magical History because she knew Andromeda was more than knowledgeable with the Magical History of Europe and had books on the matter...she assumes anyway. She would ask to return here again to get more books about the Magical History of other countries at a later date.

For now, she pulled a book and began to read chapter one.

With Cleo, Lewis and Hermione:

They had gone straight to the fourth floor to find the books they wanted, before making their way down the building to get the other books.

While Hermione and Cleo were looking for plants that could be combined safely in the making of Potions, Lewis was on another row. Searching for any and all magical creatures native to the country but focusing on books about aquatic creatures. He got the shock of his life when he opened a book and an image of the creature in the pages came alive.

He had even found some about mermaids and sirens. But the information on the former was far in between. Deciding to push ahead in the desire to help the girls, especially Charlotte. Hoping to be able to calm her down from her obsession with power.

With Rikki, Andromeda and Teddy:

Rikki could only stare wide eye at all the books and even scrolls on treasures that have been discovered, found and even legends on them. Though Rikki was more interested in treasures lost at sea. For obvious reasons.

Andromeda had found a certain scroll on ships that had been sunk around Mako and decided to purchase it, remembering Harry's words about wanting to explore the Ship Graveyard he had found.

She returned to Rikki, who was holding five books and two scrolls.

About an hour later everyone met on the first floor with the books they wanted. All carrying tomes, books and scrolls. Even some kid's books for Teddy. Hermione showed them the magical currency, the names of each coin and paid for all of them.

Emma was shocked the amount wasn't as high as she thought, that is until the owner told her how much that would be in AU currency. Hermione thought the girls were going to faint.

After leaving the bookstore, they walked down the alley and went into a clothing store. They didn't think they would purchase anything until they found some Acromantula silk shirts in colors they liked, Hermione a pair of shoes for certain occasions and some cooler clothes for Teddy.

Lewis found the Potion's shop and went inside with Hermione, the girls staying out after Andromeda cautioned them to do so. Due to them being mermaids, they didn't know how they would react to certain ingredients. Be it by touching or smelling them.

They were about to head over to the Flying Broomstick shop when they see Harry making his way to them.

"Hey guys. What have you been up to since leaving Gringotts?"

"We went to the bookstore and got some really interesting books!" Cleo answers with the others nodding.

"Really? Even you Rikki?" He asks with some cheek and laughs at Rikki's eye roll. He saw it didn't have any bite or sarcasm. "Have you been anywhere else?"

"The clothing store and the Potion's store. We were about to head to the shop with all the broomsticks." Emma answers.

Harry turns to Hermione in mock hurt. "You were going to enter said store without me? Mione, I'm crushed!" He laughs as she smacks his arm and he kisses her cheek, causing her to blush and the others to smile. "Alright then, let's see what they have. Maybe they have a better broom than my Firebolt, and we can get Teddy a training one!"

Harry opens the door and lets the group walk in, with him at the rear.

The inside was full of broomsticks, old and new. Clothes from Quidittch teams, cleaning an broom caring kits, posters and figurines. Harry was grinning like a maniac while the others stared in awe, or in Hermione's case, boredom. Something Rikki noticed.

"Is flying not your thing Hermione?"

"As a matter of fact no. I'm not. I'm terrified of flying."

"If you're afraid of flying; how did you get to Australia?" Rikki asks moving to a wall and looking at a broom that looked like a fairly old model.

"We took a couple of international Portkeys to get here. It's how we avoided flying, but we did have to wait a couple of hours after the first one due to Teddy still being too young." Hermione explains and barely looks at the brooms.

"Hermione barely passed Flying class back in Hogwarts. She couldn't get her broom up from the ground." Harry says as he approaches them and smiles at Hermione's flushed face. "At the time we didn't really know each other. I thought she was a teacher's pet and a know-it-all."

Rikki simply looks at them both and shakes her head. "So Harry, which of these brooms would you buy?"

"Well none of these. Mostly because they're older models, but also they aren't what a Seeker would need."

"Seeker?"

Harry smiles and they all go in search of the other girls to explain Quidditch to them.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Harry had spent quite some time explaining Quidditch to the young teens and the different brooms he had knowledge on as well as the ones he's owned in the past. He decided to get a magazine to place an order at a later date.
They had left with mostly some charmed tops with some quotes, a Snitch flying around and even just empty broomsticks.
They went to a restaurant for lunch and to rest after the day's excitement. After they all ordered what they wanted, they told Harry what they had bought in the bookstore and Harry was surprised at Rikki's interest in sea treasures. He looks at Andromeda and she nods to him.
"Well, some time ago I stumble into a Ship Graveyard while on a night swim, we can all go--" he stops talking before frowning. "Or rather, we could have gone. But with Charlotte around that wouldn't be a good idea."
"Harry we can't stay away from the water forever, if we do she would be winning." Hermione says as she holds his hand. "I can see your point, but we are careful as it is."
"Do you really think we should risk having her discover we are also...you know what?" Harry asks seriously while looking at her and then turns to the girls. "What about you girls?"
"To be honest with you Harry, I feel like she may find out one way or another." Emma says, ignoring Lewis' look directed at her.
"I will think about it. For now let's just enjoy the day." Harry says just as their food arrived.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

They explored an artifact shop, where they had to drag Lewis out after wanting to argue with the owner of the store on how supposed Fortunetelling was all smoke and mirrors. He got a shock when Andromeda told him that being able to see the future was an actual branch of magic and that sometimes the gift could show itself in a No-Maj.

They had bought him a Telescope that was charmed and had runes to allow the person looking through it to see space. Needless to say Lewis forgot about being able to see into the future fairly fast.

Their final stop was a jewelry store. Mostly because the girls wanted to see if they could get another set of matching jewelry, and Harry, Hermione and Andromeda had suggested to get them charmed in a way that would let them know if others that wore the jewelry were in trouble or danger.

They had all agreed on silver bracelets with different hanging charms. (Think Pandora charms.)

For Cleo it was a dolphin, a goldfish and a drop of water, Emma's was a medal, a horse and a snowflake, Rikki wanted a lightning but the shape of it was too similar to Harry's scar and had changed it to be a flame, a doubloon coin and a water wave instead. Hermione had gone for a book, a stag and an owl, while Harry went for a Snitch, an otter and an owl as well. Teddy was given a wolf pup and a full moon, Andromeda had gone for a cauldron, a quill and a scroll. Lewis had chosen just a potion cylinder.

"I want to get one for Charlotte."

"I'm afraid that won't be possible. If you want to give her a bracelet then you have to give her a non-magical one. She may be a mermaid but still is a danger to our kind." Harry says, making Lewis frown but accepts his reasoning. Already planning on a way to help her with the books he had chosen.

"Alright, Hermione would you be alright with charming these and putting some runes into them or would you rather have the Goblins do it?"

"I can do it Harry. My Mastery is almost done. I just need to go to the Ministry in a few days and take the final exams and pass." Hermione states as they make their way to the exit again.

"Harry, why do you have an otter charm and Hermione a stag one?" Lewis asks as they pass into the No-Maj world.

"Do you remember the first time you saw us use magic and saw that white misty animal? That was my Patronus. Hermione's Patronus is an otter, while mine is a stag. We have each others Patronus." Harry explains as he grabs the Portkey and holds it out for everyone to grab and take them back to their home and enjoy the rest of the day.
