Chapter 18

Battle Mages line the walls of Aura, ever vigilant after hearing about the recent increase of attacks against their towns. "Incoming aircraft," an Arch Wizard yells and they ready their magic to defend, "why is it alone? Science Wielders are never alone."

"We're coming in too hot," Edward yells as he tries his best to stabilise the aircraft, "and it doesn't help that your friends are preparing to fire at us." The console in front of him sparks up and the electronic systems started to flare, "brace yourself!"

The aircraft crashes just before the wall and the Battle Mages look to each other in confusion. They jump down to investigate the crash site and see two people just off to the side. "This one's Magic," one yells out and they teleport Alexis into the city.

The Arch Wizard hears gasp and turns to where the man was. "Out of the way," he commands and they move. Edward's shirt was ripped and his mark of being a Science Wielder showed. The Arch Wizard kneeled down and sighed, "it's Exterminator, and he lives," he stands and looks to the Magic Wielders who had just appeared, "take this one to the prison. I'm sure the Magus would like to have a word with him."

Several minutes later and Edward groans away to find his arms and legs restrained by magical seals. "It's useless you know," a voice echoes through his cell and he twists around, making the restraints clank against one another, "those bonds were created by the Magus herself."

Edward's eyes fall on the shadow of a young woman whose only feature that stuck out was her glowing purple eyes. "Where's Alexis," he demanded and the woman perked up with a grin, "where is she!"

The woman gives a chuckle and jumped down from her perch above and slowly stepped into the light. She flicks her purple hair making it cover one of her eyes as she approaches Edward, placing a hand under his chin. "What significance does this Magic Wielder mean to you," her eyes flash for a second and she grins madly, "the Master was right. This does make for a more interesting story."

"Mist," a new voice calls from beyond the cell and the shadow of a man could be seen on the far wall, "return. The Master shall be here soon." The woman nods and shifts into a cloud of purple mist, heading out of the cell. "And Exterminator," Edward looks up to see an extended hand with the markings of a Science Wielder, "it won't matter once the Master arrives." The hand falls and Edward watches as the shadow starts to walk away, "everything shall be cleansed by the fires of a new world."
