"No," Edward constantly muttered as he back himself up against stacks of crates, "you're dead," he looked up at the woman standing in front of him, "I saw you die!"

"Edward," Rose said softly and took a step forward only for Edward to raised a gun at her, "I'm not like your people. My life works differently," Edward shook his head, not wanting to believe a word, "lower the gun and I'll explain."

Edward refused to lower his guard and Rose gave a sigh. "Commander Gold," a voice called out and Edward looked towards it to see Damian hover down, "what are you doing?" Edward looked to where Rose was to see no one there, "never mind, the Chairman has authorised the activation of Project Demon, now."

Edward gave a nod and the two headed for the bomb. "Edward listen," Rose's voice echoed in his mind and he tried his best to block it, "a lot of innocent lives will be lost if you continue," Edward continued to ignore it as they reached the command consoles for Project Demon, "if you won't listen, I'll have to show you!"

Edward was about to turn his key went it felt like he was being pulled away for reality, away from the console. He was standing in a completely white space with absolutely nothing.

"Chailux," Edward quickly turned to see Rose materialise out of nowhere along with segments of an office. A young Chairman Chailux sat behind a fragmented desk, writing down something, "explain to me why you have this," she threw down a blueprint and he just gave a sigh.

"Rose," Chailux stood from his fragmented chair and walked over to her, the desk and chair disappearing, "war is inevitable, I'm just preparing."

"What about the magic wielders," Rose shouted which sent wave of out, knocking Edward back a few centimetres, "you're protecting only the science wielders!" Chailux didn't have any words to of reply and Rose just got more flustered, "if that's how it's going to be," she removed a ring from her finger and threw it at him, "I don't want anything to do with you ever again."

The scene faded and gun fire was heard behind him. Edward turned to see the final hours of the battle that started the war. "Sir," an earlier version of the exo-soldier gave a salute as he approached Chailux, "the attack was a complete success, but not everyone is thrilled."

Chailux bent down and picked up a single bullet and examined it. "The science wielders need to stand united to defeat our common enemy," he pocketed the bullet and gave a smile, "how does Chairman sound?"

The scene faded again and in the block of an eye, Edward found himself in a burning building with Rose trapped under a fallen support. "Edward," she coughed, "run."

Edward turned around to see his younger self run out of the blazing inferno. He then turned his attention to Chailux who started to walk out of the fire and stand in front of Rose. "War is inevitable Rose," she said smugly as Rose just stared at him angrily, "enjoy the suffering."

The scene faded again then it felt like he was being pushed all the way back to reality. "Ready," he turned to Damian who was standing with his key at the ready on the console to Project Demon.

Edward looked to his own hand which had a key in and and shook his head. "No," he muttered and started running away from the console, "this is all a lie!"
