Since end the of the Arcane Wars, the land of Etherion was forever separated by a barrier which split the land in two with their own worlds. To the east were the Mechanist, people who believe in progress and the advancement of technology. They follow the Board of Directors, a group of CEO who lead the largest companies responsible for the various productions and their own sectors. To the west are the Magi, people who embrace the mystical arts and live as one with their environment. They follow the Magi Council who are made up of the most powerful witches and warlocks. These two worlds couldn't be anymore different from each other but they share an unlikely beginning.

Before our story can begin, you must understand the history of these two worlds.

The Mechanists destroyed the land creating factories and took any raw resource they could find. When there was little to take, they fought over what was left with atomic bombs. The surface was forever clouded with radiation. Now the surface become the dumping grounds for the Global Initiative, the last of the mega corporations who now oversee all forms of production. The Mechanist people live in large underground cities known as Bunkers where many live in small cubic rooms. The air is barely breathable in several sectors and work is in short supply. The Global Initiative demands that all must work otherwise they die. Military service guarantees citizenship which allows individuals to take on more quality jobs and vote. Those who refuse to work, commit a crime or desert the military are sent to live on the surface amongst the scrapyard. These people are known as Junkers, Mechanists who dig through the scrap to find anything useful and are constantly subjected to the radiation storms.

The Magi are governed by a council of the strongest Wizards in the land. Young mages and witches are taught to use their powers at a young age. Those who show promise or poses unique magical gifts are conscripted and taken away to further develop their powers. Their cities each draw power from large crystalline structures which pulsate with magical energy. They serve as their defence and source of all magical abilities. On the rare occasion a Magi cannot exhibit signs of magical talents, they are cast out from the cities and are forced to wander with the brand of being Tainted looming over them.

When the Barrier fell, the Mechanist sent scouts through to see what lay on the other side. The scouts returned from the magically world with reports of land untouched by radiation and bountiful in resource. At first, the Magi felt pity for the Mechanist and welcomed them to resettle. But the Global Initiative had other plans. The first wave sent machines and armed soldiers who took over the land closest to the Barrier, plundering all its resource and turning it barren. The Magi Council saw how corrupt and evil the Mechanist were and struck with a force unseen by any Magi in thousands of years. They forced the Mechanist back to their dying world and so the war between magic and science had begun.
