"Okay so we were at a track meet last year and my friend and I were doing hurdles in the meet."
"Okay..."
"So, I went frst, and I cleared, got second place."
"Nice, go on."
"Then my friend went."
"Okay."
"The person one lane over clipped the hurdle and stumbled and they were ahead of my friend."
"Alright."
"Their hand flashed in front of my friend's hurdle, but even as she focused on the hand and not the hurdle, she continued to rush toward the hurdle."
"Oh."
"Like I said, she wasn't focused.  She clipped the hurdle but...badly.  Her back foot got caught underneath the hurdle and it twisted her whole leg.  Then she ended up breaking one of her arms, trying to break the fall."
"Ouch."
"Yeah, so I ran up to her once I realized she wasn't moving.  My coach soon joined us and we took her off the track."
"Oh, did she have to go to the hospital?"
"Yeah, she was taken right away because she couldn't move her leg and she clutched her arm to her body."
"Geez, what happened to her leg?"
"She had actually dislocated her leg from it's socket and strained some weird ligaments in her knee."
"Ow, shit."
"Yeah, that's kinda what I said to her too."
"But did you stop hurdles after that?"
"No."
"Why did you-"
"Let me finish."
"Okay."
"So we happened to have back to back meets then.  I wasn't planned to do hurdles, but I took my friend's place. For the team.  Though during my heat, I thought of my friend."
"No..."
"Yeah.  I tripped over my hurdle, front foot this time.  I tried to catch myself with the tip of my foot from my falling leg, but I missed.  My foot didn't grip to the track, I slammed onto my knee.  I was going to face plant so in a split second, I thrust one of my arms out in front."
"Shit, Elena."
"Yeah, I laid on the track for a moment and people surrounded me.  The pain from my arm and knee were mind blowing.  I was then taken to the hospital."
"Woah."
"Turns out I had also broken my arm and I had torn my acl."
"When did this happen?"
"Last year."
"Damn."
"Yeah, I still wear a brace during activities."
"We should really get together."

"We're 'crippled' buddies."
