"-and that's lily's room."

the elder boys chuckle fondly, watching the little sister squealing happily and jumping around, and they safely assume that she likes the room. it's big and spacious like the rest of the rooms, except that only this room actually had the brothers hiring a designer, especially to get the interior done just as lily had selected.

now when the the entire look is complete, the boys think it could be one of the best rooms in the whole mansion. there are two colors coordinated to make the room look lively and warm, pastel blue and white. blending with with the wooden work, there's a hint of beige as well. one of the walls is covered with snowflake patterns, while one has a large windows, serving as the biggest source of light during the day. the third wall is painted half blue and half white, having a tent in shape of castle, decorated with fairy lights and fake vines.

on one side, white study desk in lily's size sits along with a soft blue elephant themed chair. the fourth wall has the bed against it, built in a way that the stairs beside the bed lead to a matted balcony-like area above the bed, providing more space for lily to play. on the wall next to the bed is a door that lead to the bathroom and sliding wardrobe meant for all of lily's clothes.

lily's happy and already on the upper bunk, leaning on the small rail as she waves at jimin, namjoon and seokjin, bubbling with excitement. "she likes it." namjoon smiles, waving back at the little girl, earning a chuckle from the eldest male, while jimin just smiles, taking another look around the room.

"it was a good idea to have all the stuff moved here yesterday." jimin says, eyeing lily's electric car that she loves more than anything, and the rest of her toys. "can't imagine having her crying for that car."

"yeah. 'was bit of a work, but at least she's happy." seokjin says, glancing at lily, who's leaning a bit too much from the rail. jimin sighs deeply, stepping forward and opens his arms, knowing that she wants to get down, but is not using the stairs.

"i'm starting to regret agreeing for this thing..." jimin mutters, looking back at his hyungs. "i just know she's gonna fall down one of these days hanging from there."

"hey, don't talk like that. it's new place and we're moving here only with positivity, okay?" seokjin says, patting jimin's back, having namjoon laughing to himself as he nods too.

"you won't hang down from there. get it?" jimin looks at lily, finding her giggling as she shakes her head and reaches up again.

"oppa, put lily up!"

"use the stairs." jimin directs her towards the wooden stairs, painted white, however lily shakes her and turns to namjoon, raising her arms up for him to help her. "we're not going to keep doing this, lily. you should use the stairs."

"why?" she asks casually, happy when namjoon picks her up until she's close to the upper railing and climbs inside the balcony. "thank you, joonie oppa!" lily grins, leaning down and pecks his lips.

"you're welcome, princess."

lily stands up on her place, strolling around and inspects around for a while, liking it better than the first time, although a sudden change of mood brings her to the edge, holding her tiny arms out. "oppa, catch lily!"

"hey!"

"no!"

"lily!"

the boys stare with wide eyes, ready to catch her just incase she actually jumped, despite their features and words speaking otherwise. jimin regrets his decision of giving in to this style of room for lily, forgetting what a mischievous kid she can be at times and prove to literally be a monkey who doesn't know how to stay still or just simply keep herself safe. in contrast to the brothers' horror and their words telling her not to jump, lily looks down at them with a naughty grin, realising that they have their breath stuck on her.

"oppa, weady?"

"no." jimin says firmly, "get down. we're uninstalling all this. bad kids don't get such a pretty room."

"but i' so good..." she mumbles, crouching near the edge, her hands on the rail.

"i don't think so." seokjin joins jimin as well, giving the little girl a look of disappointment. "if you wanna stay in this room, you'll have to behave like a good girl, which means, using the stairs to go up and down, and no hanging or jumping from there."

"but i's so fun, jinnie oppa!" lily says with a pout, standing up quickly and moves closer to the edge.

"go back." jimin warns her.

his deep, warning tone makes lily pout. she obeys him, but it doesn't stop her from breaking into a sob, rubbing her eyes at how cruel her elder brothers are for not letting her play and enjoy her new room to the fullest. she goes back to the stairs, getting down slowly, sobbing and whining when jimin tries to hold her back from leaving the room.

"quiet." jimin sighs, kneeling down in front of the child and brings her between his arms. "shh, stop crying. i don't think oppa said anything wrong. we're only thinking about your own safety."

"yes," seokjin hums, smiling softly at the crying kid and pats her head, "we don't want lily to fall down from there and get hurt. i'm sure you don't wanna be in pain either, do you?".

"lily don' fall from there..." she sobs, rubbing her eyes.

the elders exchange glances, failing to understand if she agrees with jin's concern or is trying to tell them that she won't fall down. whatever, she might mean, namjoon shakes his head and carries her up, kissing her cheek quickly and rubs her back, "it's okay, let's go see what yoongi oppa is making for lunch, hm?"

"yoo'gi oppa..." lily cries more at the mention of the name, hugging namjoon, who chuckles quietly, glancing at jimin and jin who are just sighing, not even surprised from lily's sudden urge to go to yoongi.

"she's getting too stubborn these days." jimin shakes his head as he's left behind with the eldest, for namjoon is consoling lily, taking her to yoongi.

"and cranky." jin points out, earning a confused look from jimin, which soon turns into a frown as he nods in realisation. "has she been sick or anything?"

"no. but now that you mention it, i guess you're right. she throws a tantrum about almost everything, especially eating."

"well, that's something all kids her age do, jim. i'm not talking about that." jin says, patting jimin's back, leading him in the hallway, toward the stairs. "she's become skinnier than when i last saw her. have you taken her for regular check-ups?"jimin looks away that, nibbling on his lip as he shakes his head slowly, making the elder sigh. "you shouldn't skip a child's a health check-ups."

"you weren't in seoul and then this whole mansion thing was on. i thought it could wait until i got free." jimin admits, "another reason was because she was doing fine, her vaccinations and all are on time. so, i just slacked off."

"that's okay. it happens with a lot of parents." jin chuckles, "don't worry about that. we'll run her an examination tomorrow."

jimin nods, joining a whining and whimpering lily in the kitchen with yoongi, namjoon and hoseok. yoongi is carrying lily in his arms, rubbing her back as she sticks to him like a baby koala. jimin and jin meet his eyes, smiling when they catch him chuckling silently, assuring the little girl that he's going to scold jiminie and jinnie for being mean to her.

"hey, jimin-ah what did you say to lily?" yoongi asks, facing jimin and speaks with a fake angry edge on his tone and expression.

"that she shouldn't hang from the top of her fancy bed?" jimin replies, "fine if i'm so bad, lily can go back and do whatever she likes. but if she ends up getting hurt, it will be on her."

"da's rwude..." lily mumbles, leaning closer to yoongi. "my chiminie oppa don' say that to lily."

"but he doesn't want lily to get hurt." yoongi says softly, stroking her head and smiles a little. "oppa's lily's best friend. why would he be rude to her?"

"but oppa is upset with- with lily..." she pouts.

"he won't be upset if lily behaves like a good girl and promises him to be careful while playing around."

lily looks down, fiddling with yoongi's shirt, but gives a small nod just because it's her yoongi oppa insisting. she cannot say no to him, and he cannot deny her either. that's just how their bond works. the deal was never spoken, nor was it pondered upon, yet the second eldest and the youngest had came to a mutual conclusion of listening to each other, which often times turns out to be adorable.

"that's my good girl." yoongi smiles, carrying her on his hip and moves towards the fridge, opening it with one arm, letting the child pick out her favourite flavour of milk. lily smiles happily, quickly choosing a chocolate one and giggles, showing it to the rest of her oppas.

"you're so spoiled." jimin ends up chuckling, shaking his head at his little sister.

"nope." lily refuses without a care of the world, focused on the cute little bottle of flavoured milk. she pokes the foiled mouth with the straw, hoping it would get through to let her enjoy the milk, however, even after a few powerful tries, when it doesn't work, it makes lily frown and look up at yoongi. "not opening..."

"why, try it again. are you holding the straw right? show me." yoongi says, taking a look at lily's hand curled around the straw. its pointed end has been crumpled due to lily's aggressive stabbing, making yoongi laugh a little. he makes her sit on the counter and takes another straw, then holds the bottle still in lily's hand, inserting the straw in one go.

"wow, th'nk you!" lily chirps, sipping the milk to her contend.

"where's kook? call him, lunch is ready."

"koo? where's koo?" lily repeats with a mischievous smile, moving in her place as she tries to slip down from the counter, grabbing the edge with one hand while the other is holding the chocolate milk.

jimin stands nearby, palm resting right behind the little girl on the counter, for he's not foreign to the number of times this kind of excitement from her has ended with her falling down and crying. but this time, for a change, lily makes it down safely. jimin almost withdraws himself back when lily stumbles on her feet, landing on her butt near his feet, earning a surprised look from the brother. "careful, baby." he sighs, lifting her off and makes her stand.

"mm," lily sips the milk eagerly, eyes looking up at jimin, which is when he notices the layer of tears. the brother crouches down in front of the kid, cupping her face gently with his hand.

"are you hurt?"

lily shakes her head, nibbling on the straw and occasionally sucking out the flavoured milk. she rubs her eyes, flashing him a smile through the straw. jimin lowers the bottle from her mouth and leans closer, "are you thirsty, princess?"

"thirsty, yes." lily hums.

"then you should drink water." jimin sighs.

"i dwink water, oppa. so much water, then lily has to go peepee."

"that's fine. drinking water is a good thing." he chuckles, carrying her up and takes the milk away, giving her a cup of water instead. she gulps down quickly, not even minding the little stream flowing down from the corner of her lips, wetting her top in the process. once she's downed it all, she shows jimin the emptied cup.

"mo'we!"

"more?" jimin smiles, pouring some more water in her cup and watches fondly as lily drinks it all again, "why don't you drink water if you get so thirsty?"

"jimin-ah," jin, who has been watching the whole time, speaks up, gesturing the younger to come and sit with him. jimin joins with a smile, leaving lily down now, and she runs out of the kitchen, continuing her mission to call jungkook. "is lily doing okay?" jin asks.

"yeah, of course. i get it, hyung. skipping doctor's appointments isn't a good thing. i'll remember it." jimin promises.

the eldest hums, glancing back at the child who is gone now, although her laughing and cackling sounds are still faintly audible. "you said she's been wetting the bed lately?"

"a few times." jimin nods, "the first time it happened you guys were there too, right? she was worried i'd be upset with her."

"yeah, i remember." jin nods.

"do you wanna say something, hyung?" yoongi asks, meeting jin's eyes, as if he was able to catch the uncertainty in jin's tone that jimin missed.

"no." jin dismisses it.

"oppa!" lily squeals, running down the stairs, with jungkook chasing after her. neither of them seem angry, rather playful grins are plastered on the kids' faces. jungkook pretends to catch her, while lily is running for her life.

she stops near jimin, raising her arms up, which jimin understands and quickly picks her up to sit on his lap. lily giggles, turning around and hides between his arms, stuffing her tiny body in his embrace. between her laughs, that everyone enjoys, jin can pick up the fast breathing and pants, that he has noticed have become faintly constant when it comes to the little girl.

he doesn't want to jump into conclusions, but his eyes can't ignore the signs he has engraved in his mind with all the years of studying medicine and surgery, and clinical experience. lily asks for more water, which jin gives her quickly, smiling at the cute face he cherishes purely out of love, like the rest of the brothers. maybe that's also why it worries him more than it would have under normal conditions.

"stand here, baby." jimin sighs as lily doesn't let go of his hands, wanting to go back in his arms and continue sleeping.

"leave her." jin says softly and gestures the nurse to note down the weight. pretending to be unbothered by lily's crying, jin then leads her to the side where she's made stand against the wall. the nurse quickly takes the child's height, noting it down as well.

"alright, done." he smiles and carries lily up, patting her back to calm her down. "shh, it's not nice to make noise at the doctor's, y'know?" he jokes, earning a chuckle from jimin.

"hey, does lily want a chocolate?" jin asks, sitting down on his chair and pulls open the drawer of his desk. he usually keeps chocolates for young patients, who might cry during an examination.

lily stops crying just as expected, holding a chocolate in each hand, "th'nk you, jinnie oppa..." she mumbles, sitting quietly on his lap now, occupied with the chocolate.

"we'll take her blood sample to run some tests." jin says and instantly the nurse shows up with a syringe and other things she needs for the procedure.

"do you have to?" jimin asks, unsure about it as he glances at lily, sighing with just the thought of her crying again. he already had to wake up at nigh when she woke up whining in discomfort, and thanks to jimin knowing her so well that he saved himself more hassel and took her to the bathroom in time.

"yes," jin smiles sadly.

jimin stands up to go near lily and sits on the patient's stool, holding the child in his lap. "do you want me to open this?" he asks, taking the chocolate in his hand and opens it on the opposite side of the arm which the nurse needs to draw the blood out from. lily hums in response, waiting for her treat, which is when something cold is rubbed on her arm, making her jump in surprise.

however, before she turns to look what it is, jimin shows her the chocolate, breaking a piece and feeds to her. the trick works in diverting her attention, having her reaching out to hold her chocolate, rather than leaving it jimin's hand, who might stop feeding her after two bites, saying that it's enough. something stings lily's arm right then, making her startle with the quick pain, turning her head to see what was happening, but again, jimin cups her face and kisses her cheek.

"will you share your chocolate with oppa?"

"ouch..." lily whimpers.

"what is it, princess? don't wanna share it with oppa?"

"oppa... it' biting lily..."

"what's biting lily?" jimin asks and nods towards jin, "ah do you think there are ants in jinnie oppa's cabin?"

"ant is biting lily...?" lily mumbles.

"oh, i'm sorry. i'll get all the ants out today itself, okay?"

"mm," lily sniffles, "oppa tell ant, don' bite lily."

"i will, okay? don't worry." jin smiles, glancing at the nurse, who is also trying hard not to break into a chuckle as she withdraws the syringe now filled with the child's blood and presses a piece of cotton on the spot, folding her arm. jimin holds the cotton in place, and now lily is allowed to sit straight, making the brother sigh in relief that they could fool her into thinking it's just an ant and not a woman with a syringe pulling out blood from her vein.

"wha's that?" lily asks, peeking at the cotton pressed under jimin's thumb on her arm.

"ant bit lily, right? so, the nurse gave this to help lily."

"mm'kay," lily nods and turns to the nurse, "th'nk you, nurse auntie."

"you're welcome. do you wanna put a bandaid on that?" she asks, showing lily a sheet of cute of looking bandaids, earning a nod from lily. the little girl points at a cherry themed bandaid, making the nurse smile as she quickly puts it to over the tiny bleeding dot after cleaning it again. lily also receives extra stickers on her cheeks. so now she's adorning cherries and a cute little piece of watermelon of her face.

"we'll get the reports by evening." jin says, eyeing lily, who is sitting quietly now, eating her chocolate and admiring the bandaid on her arm. jin sighs softly, picking up her file, skimming through some things and nods slowly.

"she eats fine, doesn't she?"

"there are some tantrums, but i guess that's with all the children?" jimin nods.

"well, she's underweight and a slightly shorter in height too according to her age and previous health records." jin says, earning a frown from jimin. "she weighs 13.8 kilograms, which is below the average weight of a healthy five-year-old."

"what is the average figure?" jimin asks.

"15-17 kgs," jin says. "but that isn't that much of a concern. all the kids have different growth patterns and family medical histories that directly or indirectly affects their health. in lily's case, i think, it's because of your family's medical history."

"what does that mean? it's really confusing, hyung. is she okay? she's not sick, is she?"

"well, not really sick. but i suspect some changes that might eventually start causing trouble." jin says, putting the file down and smiles a little, glancing between the child and the worried elder brother. "let's wait until evening. i hope my doubts are proved wrong."

"what doubts? what are you talking about, hyung? it's scaring me." jimin says, "just tell me, lily's fine, right?"

"she's fine." jin assures him with a pat on his shoulder.

jimin sighs at that, nodding his head. he leaves with lily alone, for jin still had appointments for the day, but the elder promised that he would try to come early along with lily's blood test reports. the whole day, jimin tried his best to convince himself that everything is fine, because if it weren't fine, then lily would at least show some symptoms, right? she doesn't have a fever, she's not coughing or anything, she's eating well, playing around and being active like any other child her age.

then what is it that has a doctor like jin worrying over lily?

when jimin sits and thinks deeply, trying to pinpoint exactly everything related to lily, he still cannot find any odds. well, except for the fact that she's five now, been almost two and a half years since she said goodbye to diapers, yet sometimes she ends up wetting the bed. even though it's not too many nights, for a few times she woke up in time and told jimin that she needed to use the toilet. but still, he understands she's still young, which is why accidents can happen. it's not a big deal. is it?

well, google has something different to say.

jimin hates that he couldn't wait for a few hours and ended up surfing the internet for answers that jin refused to give him as soon as he asked. now, according to the web, lily could be suffering from anxeity, adhd, autism, urinary tract cancer, or diabetes. that's a wide range of problems and jimin isn't prepared to tackle with any of them. he shakes his head, shutting down his laptop, throwing his head back, hand massaging his temples lightly.

"hey, jim. jin hyung is home. he's saying that he got lily's reports." taehyung says after the knock on the door, standing there with an arched brow. "are you okay?"

"yeah," jimin sighs, standing up and puts the laptop away.

"what reports are they?"

"lily's blood test. hyung thinks there's some issue."

"what kind of issue? she's perfectly fine, isn't she?" taehyung frowns. "is she sick?"

"not that i know of. let's go. i'm sure jin hyung can explain the best." jimin says.

the brother descend down the stairs, finding jin in the living room with the rest of the boys and lily, driving her car around the free space. jimin and taehyung join them on the couch, waiting for jin to just start with whatever he had to say about lily's health.

"you guys took lily for her check up, right?" hoseok asks, "how did that go?"

"i've got the reports." jin says, noticing jimin's tensed eyes. "and she's okay. nothing major to worry about. just her blood suger levels are a bit higher than normal..."

"what?"

"yes, and before any of you draw extreme conclusions. let me tell you it's right around the border. it can happen sometimes when sugar consumption is more, or if a child isn't that active." jin clarifies quickly.

"you said something about family history..?" jimin says.

"getting there." jin hums, "your mother didn't have diabetes from what i know. anyone in your family who might have the disease?"

jimin thinks about it deeply, glancing at taehyung who is also lost in thoughts, until he voices out, "jaesung is diabetic... mom used to take care of his diet whenever he came home, remember?"

"yeah, right. jaesung is diabetic. he always had to keep his meds with him." jimin nods, turning to jin, "do you think lily is..."

"she has high chances of being diabetic. although, she's still not there, we can't say that she cannot be diagnosed with diabetes in future." jin says, "she's been wetting the bed you said, going to the toilet frequently, drinking more water than usual in one go, sweating and panting even when she's not actively playing. and we saw it today itself, she's underweight too. she's shown all the symptoms that indicate toward type one diabetes."

the boys stay silent, exchanging worried glances, eventually halting at the little girl, who's unaware of what is coming at her ahead in life. she's out of her car now after parking it by the coffee table and is riding her police bike. the siren blares for a moment when she pressed the button, but goes off quickly, making her frown in confusion. she tries a few times, however it doesn't work, making her realise that something's not right with her motorcycle.

"oppa, lily's bike no' beeping." she says, driving up to the nearest oppa, who happens to be namjoon.

"so, what now?" jimin hushes out, glancing at jin. "we can take care of her diet and you can give her some meds, right?"

"she doesn't need anything yet. but we have to take precautions with her eating habits now and keep her health monitored. and don't worry too much, she's fine. it's not certain that she is bound to have diabetes. possibilities are that she'll grow up healthy like any other child, okay?"

"but she has high risks of having it more than others..." taehyung mumbles.

"unfortunately, yes." jin says, "uh jungkook never showed any such symptoms, did he?"

"no." jimin gulps, "do you think he can be diabetic as well?"

"no. if he was, we'd know by now."

"can we run the tests on him too? y'know just to be sure?" jimin asks, "after all, jaesung is his father too."

"we can do that." jin nods, patting jimin's side assuringly. "don't worry. we're all here for lily."

"yes, we'll take care of our princess together." hoseok smiles warmly. "she gets to have all of her oppas all the time and we will also enjoy her company more, now that we're finally in the new mansion."

"right. and just so that we can look after lily efficiently, let's divide roles. we cannot compromise with her health." yoongi declares, not even waiting for anyone to agree or disagree. "jimin has to look after the company and it's natural for him to not have time sometimes. he needs rest too, so we'll all do our own bits to help him."

"that's a nice plan." namjoon nods. "that way lily can have plenty of time with each one of us."

"yeah, and not to mention i love taking care of this sweet little baby." hoseok cooes, leaning down with his lips pouted for a kiss. lily giggles at that, pecking his lips and gives him a hug.

"so, jimin can do the morning and night routine. jin hyung and i will take care of her meals. joon will look into her school work. hoseok is good at playing with her, so he can do that along with kook."

"and what about me?" taehyung asks, wondering he's left out of the plan.

"before that," namjoon speaks, "if i make her do her homework, she's going to hate me! i need to something more!"

"you can always find an interesting way to teach her, right?"

"guys!" taehyung groans, "why do i not have any role in lily's life?"

"you have the role of a brother just like any of us. stop talking crap." yoongi rolls his eyes.

"but- fine, i'll be... i'll be her escort. whenever she wants to go out, i'll take her out." taehyung declares. "will you go out with me, tiger?"

"yes!" lily jumps in her place.

jimin smiles at that, nodding gradually as he sighs deeply, as though he could breathe in peace now. glancing at the elders with gratitude filling his chest, all he says is, "thank you so much."
