"we shouldn't have done this..." taehyung mutters secretly to chaeyong, who seems to regret all of this just as bad as him. yet she keeps on a smile, greeting the parents and the teachers who greet them, some even complimenting on how well both her and her apparent husband have maintained themselves to still look very young despite having an eight-year-old daughter.
taehyung sighs softly, shaking hands with man who introduces himself as his sister's science teacher, and talks without caring if the they were even interested in listening to him or not, especially chaeyong. she forces a smile towards the man and taehyung clears his throat, draping his hand loosely on her back, "go with lily. i think she was calling you," he whispers, getting a quick nod from the girl as she turns around to search for lily.
"you have a beautiful wife, mr jeon." the science teacher says and taehyung smiles.
"thank you, is that what today is about? you complimenting others' wives?"
the man falls silent, catching the displeased tone of taehyung's voice. as the teacher quickly excuses himself, taehyung is left alone for a while, he takes a deep breath and heads in the direction chaeyong went to look for his sister, for whom they're pulling this kind of risky stunt. it was last week that lily told him a tiny problem she had created, which turned out to be not so tiny. from what taehyung remembers, she had come straight to him after school that day, telling him that she accidentally told everyone in her class that she'll bring her parents to the family picnic planned by the school, all because the kids were mocking at her for never bringing her parents anywhere with her to the point where lily ended up making an absurd promise.
taehyung scolded her for lying and promising something that couldn't be true no matter how much anyone tried. however with a bit of pleading, puppy eyes and promises of being a good girl for the rest of her life, from lily, he had no other option than to give in to her. he had thought that she'd ask him to talk to the teachers or something, although the next words coming from her, had him stunned and going back all the way denying for her 'plan'. jimin just started dating chaeyong, and here lily wanted him to pretend to be her father with chaeyong as the mother and accompany her to the freaking school picnic.
no way taehyung could've agreed to that. even chaeyong refused right away on hearing the idea, knowing that jimin wouldn't like that, and she shouldn't be helping a child cover up lies like that. but when lily didn't listen and continued whining and pleading them, taehyung asked why she wasn't taking jimin with chaeyong. they're already a couple and would make more sense. jimin is the eldest one anyway, so that means he gets to deal with messed up situations like this one.
but then, another truth surfaced from lily's side, letting the elders know that she had also got into a fight recently, which even though, wasn't that serious but had gotten the teachers mad and she wasn't sure about them keeping it to themselves when they see jimin. taehyung was quiet for a moment and recalling what he did wrong in his life to be standing at such a point in life. he cannot just abandon his sister when she needs his help, for he liked to assume that it must've been the other party who bugged her first to end up in a fight; nor can he just go out pretending that his brother's girlfriend was his wife.
all the jokes between them came dying, suddenly chaeyong was silent, waiting for a word from taehyung as lily was almost crying, begging them to be her parents for a day and save her from a potential angry jimin. after a lot of time, valid arguments and convincing power, it was two days ago that lily managed to get taehyung and chaeyong in her team, ready to play her parents for the picnic day, which is today.
it's only been an hour here with a bunch of other parents and kids, some lily's age, some older and some younger. the school indeed put a lot of work, bringing the families to a beautiful place like this one, surrounded by hills, having pink and white cheery blossoms, raining beauty every second. it's actually quite an enjoyable site, the kids being all happy and having fun with their parents, a day out of the normal hectic lives. even taehyung enjoys being here with lily if he ignores the constant worry of being busted with tye lie they're carrying, especially every time he has to act like chaeyong's husband. jimin's face flashes befores his eyes, pouring down tremendous amount of guilt on his shoulders to carry for the rest of the day.
"daddy!" a young girl calls out for her father while taehyung leans by against a tree, pulling out his phone to check if his manager had texted him anything. "daddy!" the voice comes closer, and soon turns out to be his sister's, reminding him of the fact that he is her daddy for today.
"oh fuck," he mutters, pulling himself straight and puts the phone back in the pocket and smiles at lily, who approaches him with a pout. the t-shirt she's wearing, matching with his and chaeyong's, since the families were supposed to wear matching clothes, has some dirt on it just like her shorts. taehyung opens his arm right arm instinctively, using the left one to dust off her clothes once she's standing in his embrace.
"what's wrong?" he asks.
"they're cheating," she pouts, pointing back at the group of kids who are playing soccer with their fathers. "they don't know how to play soccer and they're cheating now... and suhyun said that you don't love me because you're not playing with me."
"these kids," taehyung hisses, shaking his head and kisses lily's cheek, "let's go and show them how to correctly play soccer, yeah?" he boops her nose, smiling at her and lily hums softly, hugging him briefly. "is there anything else bothering you?"
"stay with me. they think that my daddy and mamma are bad because they don't stay together... i know you're not my daddy, but— but you're acting, and you're a good actor then why are you not doing it nicely?"
taehyung sighs at that, nodding his head, "i'm sorry, tiger. i'll pay more attention now, okay? please don't be upset with daddy." he pouts, getting a the same sad expression from the girl, "hey, c'mon. gi'mme a smile." he tickles her sides, bending down to pulls her in a hug and nuzzles his face in her cheek, "what kind of baby is this? why's she not smiling when daddy's trying to make her happy?"
"you're not my daddy," lily mumbles, "you're taetae oppa."
"who's that? i'm your dad, look carefully." he huffs at her, which manages to make lily smile. she hugs him back and taehyung chuckles, patting her side. "my little tiger shouldn't be upset today. we're here to have fun, right?"
"mm'hm," she nods.
"yeah, now tell me where's chae?"
"uhm there," lily points towards a bunch of ladies who have somehow engaged chaeyong in a conversation. taehyung curses under his breath when his eyes meet hers, and just knows that she wants him to get her out of that group of women, who are probably asking her about life, family, job and stuff.
"let's go help your mom first. then we'll play, okay?" taehyung says, holding lily's hand as they head towards the women. he pulls up a smile, telling himself to just think of today as a some movie shoot just without cameras, so it wouldn't be that hard to behave couple-ish with someone who's not really his girlfriend.
sending smiles to the ladies, he stops by his fake wife, drawing instant attention from her and wraps his arm around her waist, "if you please excuse us, i'd like to steal my wife for a while." he says, keeping his eyes on chaeyong rather than the women, who are all obviously older than them.
"aw, you guys make such a cute couple!" one of them squeals.
"yeah, me and soomin's dad used to be like that in college!"
"adorable!"
lily giggles between them, hugging both of her parents for the day, by their waists and looks up at them, "i love my mom and dad. they're so cute!" she gushes as well, then turns to the ladies, "do you know, daddy really loves mamma. he doesn't even let her do anything and gets worried when she's tired from work."
"that's really sweet of him." the lady from earlier says, "you're so lucky to have such a caring husband, mrs jeon."
chaeyong smiles at that, nodding her head and steals a brief glance at taehyung, "i am. thank you." she says while acting to be shy. taehyung catches on quickly like it was all planned and lets out a chuckle, pulling her in a hug, and ruffles their daughter's hair.
"let's go, where were you taking us?" he asks lily, who nods excitedly and pulls their hands, leading them to the boys and their fathers playing soccer. "ah, we're going to put them in their place." taehyung nods in determination, getting a frown from chaeyong, "i mean, beat them in soccer."
"yeah, they were cheating, noo— mamma. that boy, suhyun he was making fun of me again. so, now me and daddy will go and beat him up." she huffs, glaring at the mentioned boy, who's unaware of the planning in her head.
"okay, but try not to get violent, alright?" chaeyong says, leaning down with a smile and kisses lily's cheek, "go and win. good luck!" lily smiles back at her, giving her a hug before taking a step back and waves at her.
"cheer for us, mamma!" she tells chaeyong while going up to the guys with taehyung, who seems just as interested as lily in the match that's about to take place.
"hey, suhyun. my dad is here. let's play now." lily calls the boy, who just laughs at her and shakes his head.
"but you're a girl. girls don't play soccer."
"how about we decide that after this match?" taehyung smiles, tossing the ball in his hands once before putting it down on the ground and holds it under his right foot. "ready for a match, buddy?" he asks, ruffling the boy's hair, which has him hesitating. he looks back at his father and then at his friends, who nod in response, making him sigh and nod as well. "cool. you wanna start?"
"no, lily can start. she's going to lose anyway." suhyun grins.
taehyung chuckles at that, "alright, c'mon champ. take it," he steps back, letting lily take the lead. the girl doesn't even hesitate and uses the opportunity to her advantage as the boys of the other team are all not serious about the game, for they don't even try to defend, making it easy for lily to shoot the ball directly into the goal.
she smiles widely, giving a high-five to taehyung and hears chaeyong cheering for her. "let's go, lily!"
lily flips her pony tail, passing suhyun, who frowns at her and gestures his friends to start playing for real and show lily that girls don't belong in the field. their fathers join them too, but judging from their expressions, at least half of them, they don't seem to mind the behaviour of their sons, while the rest who do, tey to go easy on lily so that she'd win and prove that girls can play soccer as well. taehyung scoffs at those men, knowing that lily could easily beat all of them if they tried their best against her.
"c'mon, lily! to your left!" taehyung guides, following up with her and passes her the ball, "shoot!" she does quickly, dodging one of the fathers and watches the ball make it to the net of the goal post.
after a few more minutes, the scores get embarrassing for the boys, with the ratio of 8:3, out of which five of the goals were claimed by lily and three by taehyung, while the other team had collectively got only three. chaeyong smiles at the two, clapping for them as the whistles blows and everyone starts cheering and clapping for lily, making her happy.
she jumps towards taehyung for a hug, making him hoist her up in his arms and kiss her face a few times, "well done, tiger!"
"you were so good, lily!" chaeyong says, hugging the girl as well, which indirectly involves taehyung. although he says nothing and makes it a group a hug so that nobody would find their family suspicious.
"i deserve some praises too, don't you think?" taehyung looks at chaeyong, making her chuckle.
"of course, you did great. you both were amazing." she smiles at him.
"i'll let jimin know." he whispers, getting a gasp from chaeyong as she slaps his shoulder, making him laugh loudly.
"nooo! nobody tell jiminie oppa anything!" lily whines.
"yeah yeah, just kidding." taehyung nods, "now let's go eat something. i'm getting kinda hungry."
"me too." lily nods.
"yeah, it's time for lunch." chaeyong says, heading back to the spot where the picnic blanket is neatly spread on the ground and basket full of food items is placed in the middle and a bag with some of lily's stuff. taehyung sits down first taking off his shoes on one side and getsures lily to do the same.
"uhm i wanna go to the toilet," lily says.
"oh," taehyung glances at her, then around the picnic spot until his eyes land on a sign board according to which there is a restroom nearby. "it's there. straight ahead from where we were playing just now."
"okay," lily nods, following his hand and spots a single story place with some stores and restroom as well.
"will you be okay going by yourself?" he asks.
"yeah, don't worry. i'll come quickly." she nods with a confident smile, giving a thumbs up to taehyung and turns around to head in the direction of her new destination.
"don't you think i should go with her?" chaeyong asks in an unsure voice, about to stand up and accompany lily, but taehyung gives an assuring nod which makes her stay.
"it's alright. she's gonna be fine. it's not that far."
"yeah, but... it's still a new place."
"stop worrying so much, mom." taehyung jokes, earning a smack from her, which makes him gasp, "hey! you don't hit your husband."
"then behave yourself." she scolds.
"geez, chill." he grins. "y'know what i'm thinking?"
"better not be something lame." she sighs, handing him a sandwich.
"nope, it's actually—" he takes a bite, humming at the taste and pauses to give chaeyong a thumbs up, "if jimin marries you, at least we'll get some good food."
"don't you already eat good food?" she chuckles.
"yeah, but it's different. i make jungkook cook when i crave a different taste that's just extra homely and not too professional."
"you don't how to cook, right?"
"nah, i'm useless in the kitchen. that's one reason jimin never really left me alone with lily. he doesn't want her to feed on pizzas and snacks."
"that's not something to be proud of." chaeyong laughs.
"i never said it is." he says, finsihing up the sandwich and takes another one, "hey, why are you not eating?"
"i'm not that hungry." she says.
"are you sure? it's almost two. what time do you have lunch?"
"uhm i usually just take a coffee," she smiles nervously, "i mostly have brunch, so never get that hungry for lunch."
"wow, and does jimin know this?"
"you'll keep your mouth shut, taehyung."
taehyung smirks, "of course i will if you eat." he says, handing her a sandwich as well and nods for her to start eating.
"god, all of you brothers are the same. even jimin always insists on feeding me more." she sighs, taking a bite out of the sandwich.
"yeah, sorry that we don't want you getting sick or anything." he hums.
"i'm not sick."
"you might be if you don't eat enough."
"okay, big guy. i'm eating."
"good," taehyung says, glancing back in the direction of the restroom and sees lily coming back, busy looking around and it seems like she's too distracted to walk back quickly and have lunch. it takes a her a a while for her to finally make it back their spot, which is when taehyung realises that she's actually eating a chocolate.
"where did you get that from?" he asks.
"one uncle gave me in the store."
"without money?" he arches up a brow.
"mm'hm,"
"that's bad, kiddo. you don't accept stuff from strangers, right? what did we tell you about them?"
lily stops herself from taking anothr bite and glances at the bar of dark chocolate, gulping down the taste in her mouth, "but this one's fine..."
"that doesn't matter. you never accept anything from anyone you don't know, especially eating stuff. what if they mixed something in that?"
"no, i chose it in the store, oppa."
taehyung massages his temples, heaving out a deep breath, "no wonder you always get in trouble," he mutters. chaeyong nudges him subtly, eyeing him to not say things like that as she watches lily's smile turn into a pout. she puts the chocolate down, getting near taehyung and peeks at his face.
"i'm sorry, oppa. i won't take it again." she mumbles.
taehyung looks at her again, making her sit in front of him and asks, "why did he give you a chocolate?"
"because he was getting a lot of them for everyone here and asked me if i wanted to ut from there."
"really? then where is he—"
"there..." she points at an old man, who's standing with a teacher, helping him form a line of students so that each one of them can get a chocolate. "i thought he was nice so i said okay and took a chocolate. but i won't eat it now, okay? look i threw it away." she says, showing her empty hands to him after actually throwing the half eaten chocolate bar behind the bushes.
taehyung heaves out a sigh, pulling lily in a hug and shakes his head, "i'm sorry, i shouldn't have..." he glances at chaeyong, who smiles softly.
"it's okay," lily says, "i know you're worried about me and— because you love me. so it's okay. don't be sad."
"i'll get you a lot of chocolates, okay? you cam take whatever you want on the way back home." he promises, "please be careful from next time. and just try to avoid taking anything from starngers. i know not everyone is bad, but we don't who might be. so we just have to be a little cautious with everyone, right?"
"yeah, that's so sad." lily says, "y'know tae oppa, if i was the king of the world i'd put all the bad people in a pool of piranhas, and leave only good people here."
the elder two chuckle at that, while lily grins eating up a sandwich now that chaeyong gives her. the old man who's giving chocolates to all the children, approaches lily and well and smiles, giving her one more. she glances at taehyung before accepting it and thanks the man, waving at him for he's leaving now. lily sits between her fake parents, breaking two pieces out of her chocolate and gives one of the either of them.
"it's good." chaeyong hums, "chocolates are the best thing in the world."
"i know right, noona." lily nods, then looks at taehyung, "can noona get chocolates too?"
"what?" taehyung frowns.
"when we go back, can noona get chocolates too?"
"oh, yeah sure." he smiles.
the rest of the rolls just fine with a lot of games, jokes and winning prizes since lily's managed to win almost all the games. having young parents is such a flex, she realised today. now it's six in the evening and everybody is set to go back after having a lot of fun the whole day. lily waves at her classmates and teachers, holding a bunch of helium balloons which chaeyong got her from a man selling those by the street just outside the park.
"it was such a good day!" lily chimes, sitting at the back while chaeyong smiled at her from the passenger seat and taehyung has started driving them back home.
"it really was. i enjoyed today." chaeyong agrees.
"yeah, and nobody complained about lily either." taehyung says.
"yeah, i guess it wasn't that big of a deal, right?" chaeyong glances at lily, who nods and leans forward, hugging both the elders and kisses their cheeks.
"thank you so much for today. i really felt like i had my parents with me. thanks noona," she says, giving an extra hug to chaeyong, making her smile and ruffle the younger girl's hair.
"no need to thank me. i'm happy that today went well and we all had fun, especially you." she pats lily's head.
"yes, and now who wants chocolates?" taehyung chuckles as lily quickly raises up her hand, ready to get out of the car as soon as pulls over in front of a store. chaeyong accompanies the siblings inside, listening to lily telling about her preferences when it comes to chocolates and ice creams.
"these?" she asks, getting a nod from lily, and reaches up to get the box. the shelf unfortunately is too high, making chaeyong sigh in embarrassment and turn to look for taehyung.
"daddy, get those down please?" lily calls out loudly before chaeyong can tell her not to refer to them as mom and dad now. but the girl just giggles, as taehyung doesn't seem to mind either and approaches them casually, as though he was actually lily's father. "i like this game. you should be my real daddy."
taehyung just chuckles in response and gives her the box of chocolates that chaeyong couldn't reach, "go and get a cart," he pats lily's back, getting a nod from her as she quickly goes to grab a cart to keep all her chocolates in.
"why didn't you tell her to stop?" chaeyong whispers.
"it's okay. she's not calling you mom, that's the main thing right? i don't mind her calling me anything." taehyung says, getting a few more boxes and gives ut to chaeyong, "and be honest, don't you think daddy sounds really cute from her?"
"it does, but—"
"but she didn't get to call anyone that, chae." he smiles sadly, "i shouldn't say this, but her dad was an asshole. he still is."
chaeyong nods subtly, not saying anything as she catches on the dullness in taehyung's voice. she sighs softly, glancing down at the bunch of chocolates in her hands. she opens one and breaks it in half, holding a piece in front of taehyung's mouth, earning a confused frown from him, bur he eats it anyway, arching up a brow. "it's been a good day so far. why ruining your mood now?"
taehyung ends up smiling at that, nodding his head and take the other of the chocolate from her, eating it whole with a smirk for chaeyong probably wished to eat it herself. "you're not a gentleman, taehyung."
"jimin is your gentleman. ask him to get you more chocolates." taehyung grins, stepping back as chaeyong squints at him, about to snatch the chocolate left in his hand, which is when she slips and taehyung's eyes widen in realisation. he catches her quickly, holding the chocolate between his front teeth. "damn, you're falling, chae."
the girl releases a breath, opening her eyes that were shut tightly in the fear of the impact she might have to face if she actually fell down. "noona...?" the voice pulls her out of the trance, quickly pulling herself back from taehyung's arms, sending a sudden fear of being misunderstood for she has grown closer to the brothers to mistake any of their voices.
taehyung too recognises his younger brother's voice too, and turns around casually, finishing up the chocolate and raises up his hand asa greeting, "yo, what are you doing here?"
jungkook looks disturbed at the sight he just witnessed and gulps, motioning his hand between the two, "what were you guys doing... like that? noona, do you not like jimin hyung anymore..?" he asks cautiously, and chaeyong gasps, quickly shaking her head in denial. "no? really? look, this is wrong... jimin hyung really loves you, and you cheating on him with tae, is literally the most messed up thing you can do hurt him. you too hyung. how hard is it to keep yourself in check?"
"hey," taehyung scolds, "it's not what you're thinking okay? i would never do anything to hurt my brothers—"
"yeah, right. then what is it that i just saw? you were—" jungkook cringes, "you were feeding noona chocolate from— from your mouth. god! you should be ashamed of yourself, hyung!"
"jungkook! it's not like that! i just slipped and tae saved me before i fell." chaeyong says, turning into a tomato from embarrassment. "i love jimin, alright? tae is just a friend, your brother and my brother-in-law if i marry jimin one day."
"then why were you..." jungkook trails off.
"we didn't kiss, buddy." taehyung hisses, "i don't get why people keep misunderstanding me. like, am i not a goo guy or what? i wouldn't make a move on my brother's girl, goddamnit."
jungkook rolls his eyes at his brother and approaches chaeyong with a soft look on his face, "you don't have to be sacred, noona. tell me if he tried anything funny."
"the the fuc—"
"no, he didn't. he wouldn't do that, jungkook. you don't have to worry, okay?" chaeyong smiles at the younger male, getting a sigh and a nod.
"my heart just broke into a million pieces knowing that my own brother doesn't trust me." taehyung says.
"collect those pieces and tape them up instead of handing over one to every other girl." jungkook mocks, "you're not even leaving for me."
"that's where it's coming from?" taehyung smirks, throwing his arm around chaeyong's shoulder and grins, "the boy is jealous."
"fuck off."
"be respectful."
"fuck off, hyung-nim."
chaeyong laughs at the two, smacking jungkook's arm lightly, which makes the boy grin as he lowers his head, running a hand through his hair and chaeyong quickly gets the message, ruffling his fluffy hair for him. "what were guys even doing here?" he asks again.
"ah we just came out with lily— where is she?" chaeyong's eyes widen with realisation, turning to taehyung.
"you lost lily?" jungkook gasps.
"she must be around." taehyung says, "i'll go and see."
with that taehyung shoves his hands in his pockets and walks out to a different aisle in search for lily, leaving chaeyong with jungkook. the boy scrunches his face, glancing at the older girl and sighs, "so... you and tae— and lily, are here for what?"
"lily wanted to get some chocolates." chaeyong says, noticing jungkook's awkward stare that's fixed on her t-shirt. it's just a red one that reads 'the incredibles' just like taehyung's. "okay, look about this. lily wanted us to wear matching t-shirts and—"
"you can just tell me the truth, noona. lying is not working." he says.
chaeyong takes a deep breath, pushing her hair back and looks at jungkook, "fine, lily had an emergency in school that needed her parents. so me and were just—"
"being her parents?" jungkook frowns, getting a slow nod and an awkward smile from the girl, "what the fuck— that's fucking crazy! why would you do that?! does jimin hyung know?"
"no, and it's meant to be a secret. so i hope you won't let anything out, right?"
jungkook massages his temples, "y'know hyung's gonna be mad if he comes to know about this, right?"
"yes," chaeyong mumbles, "i told them not to do this. but y'know how lily can just convince tae for anything. he couldn't say no to her."
"yeah," jungkook sighs, "anyway, i suggest you change out of that shirt if you're going home."
"lily picked it for our supposedly family." she chuckles, "i think it's cute."
"you always look cute, noona. tae looks like weird." jungkook grins, making chaeyong laugh. he gets the chocolates which he assumes the elder girl was going to take, since they're all kept near by our of order and she still has one in her hand. "you're getting these, right?" he asks, and chaeyong just shrugs her shoulders. "alright, let's go pay for them. i'll drive you home. hyung has been trying to call you since afternoon."
"what?" chaeyong gasps, taking out her phone and clicks her tongue, "i kept it on silent while playing hode and seek with lily."
"you were playing games?"
"yeah, it was a picnic actually. and she was scared that one of the teachers might complain about her, so she couldn't ask jimin to go. or else it could've been me and him with her."
"ah, this girl. i'm sorry, we'll talk to her." jungkook sighs.
"it's alright. i enjoyed, and she did too." chaeyong says with a soft smile, following jungkook to the cashier's counter. by this time taehyung returns with lily, who is pouting for some reason, holding his hand with her smaller one. her sad expression is however, replaced by a surprised one once she spots jungkook and runs to him, leaving taehyung alone.
"koo!" she hugs him quickly, stuffing herself between his big body and the counter, keeping her arms locked around his waist.
"hey, what's going on?" he asks, patting her back as he holds his card out to the cashier before glancing at the elder brother.
"nothing," taehyung sighs at the sister, "okay fine, go get whatever you want. you have only two minutes."
"nooo! that's so less—"
"your time starts now." taehyung announces, making lily gasp and leave everyone again, disappearing into the aisles. it takes her a few minutes to return with a cart half full with chocolates, two ice cream tubs, cup noodles, chips, juice boxes and flavoured milk.
"wow, okay." jungkook chuckles, stepping aside so lily can put her stuff on the counter and start the billing process. "who's gonna pay for all that, lily? i don't think oppa gives you that much money."
lily points at taehyung, who scrunches his face, bringing her in a back hyg and leans down, "what if i don't wanna pay?" he asks.
"please pay for me?" lily turns to look at him and cips his face, kissing his cheek. "please, daddy?"
"there he goes," chaeyong chuckles as taehyung just closes his eyes, pulling himself straight and shakes his head, his lips struggling to fight back a smile.
the cashier smiles as well, taking the card from taehyung, while he glances at jungkook and chaeyong, "uh did you get what you wanted?"
chaeyong nods, pointing at the small carry bag that jungkook is holding. "that's all?"
"yeah, it's more than enough." she assures.
the siblings and chaeyong soon head out, back to the car and finally towards her apartment, since she's still wearing the matching t-shirts with taehyung and lily and jimin might not fancy it very much. so, taehyung agrees to drive her to her place first, not knowing that just as they're halfway there rain would start pouring down. the only one who truly enjoys the weather outside the car is lily, as she sips her chocolate milk out of the box she just got from the store, and eating oreos with it.
"wow, i feel like staying here." she says.
"should we leave you here?" jungkook jokes.
"no," she mutters quickly "uhm oppa?"
"hm?"
"i wanna pee..." she whispers.
taehyung glances at her and so does jungkook and chaeyong, "right now?" taehyung asks, getting a nod from the girl, making him sigh, "can you hold it? we'll drop chae off, then go home."
"i've been holding it for a while. now i wanna go to the toilet." she says.
"seriously? and you tell us that now?"
"i didn't know it will take so long."
"guys, it's okay. lily, you can use the bathroom at my place." chaeyong says.
"yeah, thanks noona."
"no problem, sweetie."
by the time they reach chaeyong's place, the rain has gotten worse, lily has also groan impatient to use the bathroom, and jimin has called one more time which chaeyong didn't answer, wanting to talk to him with a bit more privacy than being surrounded by jimin's siblings. however, with another ring as she enters her place, gesturing the boys and lily to come inside and leading the kid straight to the bathroom, she decides it she can't avoid jimin's calls anymore. even though she texted him telling him that she's fine and was caught up with some work, it's still bothers her to liw to him.
"hey, jimin. i'm sorry, i couldn't answer any sooner." she speaks softly, not wanting anyone else to here her talking to her boyfriend.
"it's okay, i was just calling because i missed you. and then i got worried when you didn't answer even after a few times. where were you though?" he asks.
"uh, yeah i was out actually." she says, her eyes automatically move to the side as taehyung approaches her. she arches up a brow, and he points at the phone then gestures her to not tell jimin anything. she sighs softly and hums, "anyway, you didn't go to office today?"
"i did. but i came early and thought you could come over. everyone's out today for some reason. so it's been just me."
chaeyong smiles to herself, nodding slowly, "i missed the opportunity i guess?"
"you did. it could've been us."
"right, an—"
"noona, where's the towel? where do i wipe my hands?" lily asks, opening the door of the bathroom, making the brother panic and cover her mouth urgently.
"she's talking to jimin. keep quiet." he whispers.
chaeyong coughs to cover it up, "hello? jimin? i can't hear you, there's some noise i think." she blurts.
"where are you?" jimin asks.
"at home. it's raining outside, so obviously at home."
"really? you can just tell me, who's there with you?"
chaeyong closes her eyes, massaging her temples for second, before turning to taehyung, virtually asking him what to do now. he sighs as well, while lily shakes her head, pleading to the elder girl silently so that she won't tell jimin anything.
"chae? what's going on, baby?"
"nothing," chaeyong says, "actually my neighbour is having some problem in their waterline, and their daughter had to use to the bathroom. so, she's just here for now."
"oh, okay. it did sound like a child."
"becu it is a child." she chuckles, "i forgot to keep the towels in place. she was just asking for those."
both lily and taehyung give her thumbs up along with impressed smiles. the two are about to leave chaeyong alone, when taehyung accidentally stubs his toe into the wall, groaning in pain and lily gasps, while chaeyong just stares at him with wide eyes. she coughs again, eyeing to taehyung to keeo quiet, which he does, but his expression still remains like he was in deep pain.
"now who's that? doesn't sound like a child anymore."
"her father. she didn't wanna come alone, so she brought her dad with her." chaeyong lies.
"her dad...? isn't he, like,a single father? your neighbour?"
"uh uhm, is he?"
"you're the one who told me, chae. what's going on?"
"he just stubbed his toe into the wall..." chaeyong sighs, "he's so clumsy." she glares at taehyung, who just looks down ignoring lily's giggles.
"daddy's clumsy. mamma is smart." lily laughs.
"mamma?" jimin gasps, "what the fuck is going on?! is that kid calling you her mom?!"
"no! god, jimin! why will she call me mom?"
"guys? how long are you gonna take? we should ho home now!" jungkook calls from the living room.
"i'm coming," lily whispers, "bye-bye noona."
"bye..." chaeyong takes a deep breath, waving weakly at the youngest girl, while also preparing herself to explain jimin eveything without actually telling him what all happened today.
"chae, i'm having really messed up thoughts right now. just tell me who's there with you? you don't love me anymore? am i not treating you right, baby?"
"no no, it's not like that. i love you, jimin. you're the only man i love, okay? it was really my neighbours. they're leaving now. the kid is quite mischievous."
"and daddy too." lily huffs.
"yeah, sure." taehyung gives her a tight smile, hoisting her up in his arms and walks back to the living room, ignoring the cackles lily lets out playfully. "say bye to chae."
"byeeee!" lily waves at chaeyong, still in taehyung's arms in a cradling position like he was holding a baby. jungkook follows the siblings out, pressing the button of the elevator, sighing in relief once the doors are closed.
"you've been creating a lot of mess since last week." taehyung squints at lily.
"no," she shakes her head, "i'm a good girl. i don't make a mess."
"oh yeah? then how about the school thingy? and just now you've just made things harder for chae."
"you're not any better, hyung. i'm sure you could've done more damage than her." jungkook states.
"really? like what?"
"like imagine if it was jimin hyung who walked in the store in instead of me and found you and noona in that awkward position. i'm sure he wouldn't enjoy the scene."
"just keep you mouth shut." taehyung hisses.
"truth will be the same even if i don't say it." jungkook smirks.
"what happened? what did you do?" lily asks taehyung, getting a soft sigh from him as he shakes his head.
"nothing. just don't tell any of this to jimin. he might just kill me at this point."
"as he should." jungkook sniggers, "once he comes to know that you played lily's parents with his girlfriend, he's definitely gonna slit your throat."
"it's not my fault! lily wanted us to do it! why are you quiet, lily? say something!" he groans in exasperation, putting the sister down on her feet. she's too stunned to speak, confused even, with taehyung's sudden outburst when all the day till now, he was the one to be the chillest person out there.
"koo," she mumbles, moving near jungkook. "what happened?"
"nothing, tae's just realising that he made a mistake." jungkook sniggers, walking out of the elevator with her, taehyung following behind like a dead man.
"i'm sorry," she says, peeking back at taehyung's face and tugs on his sleeve, "i'm sorry, taetae oppa. i won't call you my daddy, okay? don't be mad."
"it's not about that. just— fuck it, y'know what, kook? none of this is ever coming out, so you have no reason to scare me like that, alright?" taehyung huffs, slamming the door of the driver's seat shut and ignites the engine. jungkook shakes his head, taking the front seat, while lily sits at the back alone.
"you think so, hyung? why do you think i'll keep your secret safe? i mean, i don't see a reason to." he smirks.
"no, koo. please don't tell oppa." lily pouts.
"relax, princess. y'know after eveything that you guys have done, especially tae, jimin might just let you get away, and actually focus on taehyung more this time. he gave in to your wish, he pretended to be your father and noona's husband, fooled the whole school, and my favourite one, what i saw in the store." jungkook grins, "this is so good, hyung. i'm loving how you messed up."
"you're such an asshole." taehyung groans. "can't you help me once? i've always helped you without you having to ask me! this is how you pay your elder brother back?"
"yes? i remember you used to blane all your shit on me when we younger, and not to mention you always fight me. this is my chance to get back to you. i have to stupid to let it go."
"koo, i have an idea." lily says.
"yeah?"
"how about i give you my chocolate and you keep quiet?" she smiles at him, making taehyung snort while jungkook just wears a straight face.
"that's a great idea! i love it." taehyung grins.
"lily," jungkook sighs, "we can team up and get taehyung scolded for being a bad guy. you don't wanna see him getting in trouble with jiminie?"
"no, taetae became my daddy today and it was so nice. i thought i had real daddy. don't scold taetae." lily says, mumbling in the end as she leans forward on her seat and hugs taehyung's free arm. "don't worry, tae oppa. i'm— i'll say to jiminie oppa that i'm sorry and he won't scold you, okay?"
"my little tiger is so thoughtful." taehyung smiles at her, kissing her cheek, "thank you so much. i'll talk to jimin, alright? you don't have to worry. he won't be too mad."
"mm," she nods, sitting back properly on her seat and leans back, watching out of the window as she lets out a yawn. the brothers don't say anything as they realise that she must be tired after playing around the whole day. taehyung focuses on driving and jungkook scrolls through his phone for a while, before putting it down and stretches his body a little.
"are you really gonna snitch on me?" taehyung asks.
"depends." jungkook smiles mischievously.
taehyung rolls his eyes, cracking his neck and says, "hundred bucks for you to keep your mouth shut."
"hundred? that's all you have? i can pay you five hundred to let me spill the truth." jungkook scoffs.
"all right five hundred, kid."
"who are you calling a—"
"one thousand."
"that's—"
"one thousand five hundred."
jungkook thinks for a moment, deciding to open his mouth again and smirks when taehyung takes it up to two thousand five hundred. "deal." he nods, "your secret is safe with me till the day i die."
taehyung drives inside the main gate up till the front of their mansion, pulling over and steps out of the car, handing over the keys to the driver and opens the back door. he carries lily up as she's sleeping and gestures jungkook to take the bag of snacks, his phone and wallet. jungkook obeys without much thought, taking the opportunity to go through the elder's wallet for the promised money.
"i don't keep cash, kiddo. you can take the card and return it when you're done."
"can you stop calling me a kiddo? i'm literally turning twenty-one soon." jungkook hisses.
"are you?" taehyung smirks, walking past him, entering the foyer and heads to the living space. jimin is on a call with jin and namjoon as for what taehyung concludes on hearing the voices, looking busy as they discuss something over the laptop.
"hey," taehyung says briefly, laying lily down on the couch and flops beside her, taking a deep breath. "ah i'm so tired today..."
"me too." jungkook says, sitting down and puts the stuff of his hands on the table.
"we'll talk later, hyung." jimin says, nodding his head as he smiles at the screen, "yeah, they're here. bye." he shuts down the laptop and closes the files before facing the brothers. "where have you guys been? i didn't even get to see lily today."
"yeah, she just wanted to go out and i was free today." taehyung says, glancing at the sleeping young girl, then at jimin.
"oh, that's good. where did you go?"
"picnic in the park near han river."
"that's beautiful. i think she really enjoyed to be that tired now," jimin chuckles.
"yeah, i guess." taehyung smiles with a nod.
"and you, jungkook? did you go with them too?"
"no no, i was... i was with my friends. danny dropped me off at a store because wanted to get some snacks, and after that i said i'll take a cab home because the weather was getting bad and he ahd to be somewhere. that's how i met lily and hyung in the store." jungkook says. "what did you do today?"
"nothing really. i was just working."
"that's boring." jungkook comments, making jimin chuckle.
"this boring stuff is what brings you money to get another car, buddy."
"right," jungkook mutters.
"not so boring now?" jimin laughs and jungkook shakes his head, taking out a box of banana flavoured milk. he stabs the straw inside the foil cover and starts sipping right away.
jimin's phone goes off with a notification, making him frown. meanwhile taehyung heads upstairs with lily, wanting her to get her changed and the tuck her in bed so she can sleep peacefully. however, jimin's voice makes him stop. he glances over his shoulder, waiting for rhe brother to carry on. jimin stands up from the couch, holding out his phone, that shows a picture taken today in the picnic. taehyung gulps at the sight, wondering how it even got there so fast. it could've waited for a couple hours if not days!
"what's that?" taehyung asks.
"you're asking me?" jimin glares at him, "stop playing dumb, okay? just tell me what the fuck were you guys doing the whole day?"
taehyung glances back at jungkook who's just as worried as him, and steps up quickly, "what happened, hyung?"
"quiet." jimin warns the youngest brother and focuses on tae, "so chaeyong was with you?"
"look jim, there's a misunde—"
"was she, or not?"
taehyung sighs softly, nodding his head. he gestures jungkook to take lily upstairs as she's still sleeping. jungkook takes a glance at jimin first, only doing as he's told when jimin gives him a nod. in a second he quickly lays the sister in her room, and returns back to the elder brothers who have created a thick atmosphere around them.
"what were you guys doing with lily in her school?" jimin asks.
"there was a picnic and she just wanted someone to go with her."
"yeah? and you fucking moron decided that it'd be a good idea to take my girlfriend with you?!"
"no! i'r never do that! god, you guys need to trust me more!" taehyung retorts, "lily forced us, okay? she couldn't ask you and she had no one else. kook wouldn't look like her father—"
"father..? you were there as her father?" jimin blinks in disbelief.
taehyung takes a deeo breath, grabbing his hair in frustration, "let me explain from the beginning. just listen to me calmly," he says, "lily was scared that one of the teachers might complain about her or something if she takes you with her. and she also promised her classmates that she'll bring her parents with her to the picnic. so, she asked me and chaeyong to be her parents for a day just to show everyone. and yeah... that's that. when you called chaeyong, it was me and lily at her. we were dropping her off."
jimin chuckles dryly, shaking his head and glares at taehyung, "are you out of your mind?! lily asked you to pretend to be her parents and you agreed?! are you not using your head, taehyung? she's just a kid, she's going to ask for absurd things but you don't go fulfilling all of her wishes! god, i can't believe you guys fooled the whole damn school!"
"she enjoyed, jimin. it's okay. chae didn't wanna do it, but seeing lily pleading us so much i said it was okay and it's just for a few hours... it doesn't hurt anyone, and lily could be happy."
"i— seriously?" jimin heaves a deep breath, "i don't know what to say to you."
"don't be mad, jim. i did it for lily. she was really happy today, and she told me that it felt like she had real parents. she kept calling me daddy even after the picnic was over, and i couldn't ask her to stop because she looked so happy. y'know she never got to call anyone that, nobody has been there as a father for her... so today when she called me daddy, i felt responsible an—and like a real father to her, i couldn't say no to anything she did. i know i shouldn't be so lenient, and this might spoil her, it's okay. don't you think she deserves it?"
jimin sighs softly, glancing at taehyung who just smiles softly, throwing his arm around the brother's neck and winks at him, "she was thanking chaeyong too, because she was so caring and sweet towards lily. she said that she's praying for you and her to get married so that she can spend more time with chae, and probably call you daddy and her mamma again." he laughs.
jimin shakes his head at that, letting out a chuckle, "we'll think about that." he hums, "don't you love lily a lot? she might not want me and kook anymore."
"hey, no. that's not gonna happen." jungkook declares. "lily loves me a lot and i love her a lot. that's never gonna change."
"but i'm her favourite." taehyung mocks at him.
"i am her favourite." jungkook states.
"it's me, kid. i'm her favourite."
"i—"
"oppa?" lily mumbles, heading down the stairs, rubbing her eyes. she's dressed in the same t-shirt as before, but in place of her shorts there only her underpants fluffing up with the elastic band on her thighs. she smiled at jimin, waving at him and goes straight in for a hug. "hi, oppa... i missed you."
"see?" taehyung chuckles, "don't be mad, okay?"
jimin sits on the couch, bringing lily on his lap and wraps his arm around her tiny waist. lily rests her head on his shoulder and mumbles, "i saw you in my dream and you looked so pretty like— like prince eric... wow..."
jimin closes his eyes as he laughs silently, pressing a kiss on lily's shoulder, "really?" the sister hums, nodding her head and pulls away to look at his face. she giggles on meeting his eyes and leans closer, having her now touching his and cups his cheeks, "i love you," she grins.
"i love you way more," jimin whispers fondly, giving her a long kiss on her cheek. "my sweet little baby, oppa loves you more than words can describe."
"wow, yeah me too." she nods, "y'know oppa, me and taetae oppa had so much fun today. next time i want all of us to go out together, okay? me, you, kookie, taetae and we'll ask chae noona to go with us too."
"on a picnic?" jimin asks.
"yes— uh, how do you know?"
"oppa knows everything. so next time you have to hide something, think about it nicely."
lily gasps at that, shaking her head quickly and holds her ears, "i'm sorry. i'll be good, oppa, i promise."
"that's good. so, you went out with chae?"
"mm'hm. but i think she missed you and she was a little bit upset because i told her to keep it a secret from you."
jimin smiles at that, nodding knowingly, "did you tell her that oppa misses her?"
"no," lily looks at him, "you miss her?"
"of course, i do. she's my girlfriend, y'know?" he chuckles.
"uh-huh, i'll tell noona to come home and give you a hug. then you'll be happy."
"that'd be nice. please talk to her soon, okay? she listens to you more than me."
"because she knows that lily is oppa's princess." she giggles, glancing back at the other to brothers, who smile as well. lily picks up her bag of chocolates and opens a box, unwrapping the golden foil from a piece and puts it in her mouth. then takes another and feeds it to jimin. "yummy?"
"very," jimin nods. "did you get noona something too?"
"yeah, i asked taetae to get noona chocolates. she likes chocolates."
"but she took only a few." jungkook shrugs.
"jiminie oppa will give her more sweets!" lily smiles, "she'll take it then."
"yeah, she will." taehyung sniggers, giving a high-five to jungkook, as they both laugh silently while jimin gives them a look, although his cheeks are painted in a shade of red, blushing with lily's innocent comment.
"why are you laughing?" lily asks, glancing at taehyung and jungkook.
"nothing. i'm just wondering why jimin has all the sweets for noona and not for us."
"you don't want them, kook." taehyung smirks, wiggling his eyebrows at jimin.
"just go away you perverts." jimin hisses.
"perverts? us? no way, we didn't even say anything." jungkook says, "lily, dis we say something bad?"
"no," she mutters, more focused on opening another piece of chocolate and takes a bite of it, holding half in her hand, that she eventually holds out for jungkook to eat. the boy leans down and lets her feed him the chocolate, but lily quickly puts it in her mouth, laughing as jungkook was about to eat it.
"hey, that's mean." he complains.
"why? bunnies don't eat chocolate."
"bunnies bite, and this one's gonna turn into a monster when he's hungry." he squints at her, "you better run fast, or bunny's gonna eat you."
"no, i'm a tiger! you can't eat me!"
"i can, and i can show you if you want." jungkook grins, scooping her up from jimin's lap and leans down, making a scary face as he pretends to bite her cheek gently, breaking into a laugh when lily squeals and tries to out of his arms. "lily's a yummy little girl. i like her cheeks." he laughs in an evil manner.
"nooo!" lily squirms between laughing, shaking her head when jungkook bites her cheek again. "no, koo!"
"what?"
"don't eat my cheeks."
"why not? you clearly like it."
"no, i don't like it. i'm saying no." she giggles.
"but you're laughing me, means you like it."
"i'm not laughing." she says, still giggling and further breaks into a bigger laugh when jungkook tickles her tummy. "you're making me laugh!"
"i'm not doing anything, see?" jungkook grins.
"this," she points at his hand that's on her tummy, fingers tickling her through the fabric of her t-shirt, making her laugh more. "oppaaaa!" she cackles, wiggling a little and leans towards jimin, who takes her from jungkook, letting her wrap her legs around his waist and stick to his torso like a baby koala.
"okay, that's a lot of playing. now you should go and get changed, then we'll have dinner." jimin pats her back.
"let's go," lily nods, refusing to get down and jimin sighs, taking her up himself.
"so much of princess treatment for my child, huh?" he chuckles.
lily falls silent for a moment, lifting up her head from his shoulder to look at him and says, "y'know, oppa i said tae oppa my daddy today, an—and he love me so much. he played all the games with me like all the daddies did with their babies. he got me a lot of chocolates. and he said he liked it when i call him daddy. taetae is so nice. i love taetae so much!"
jimin smiles at that, "of course, he loves lily a lot."
"mm'hm. i said thank you to him because i think if i had my daddy he would play with me and play me too, right oppa?" she smiles at hin hopefully, and jimin finds himself hesitating for he knows that her father is actually alive, breathing somewhere carelessly, while his daughter has to believe that she doesn't have a father. yet, he forces up a smile for her, nodding his head and kisses her forehead.
"whether you have your dad or not, princess, you'll always have your brothers. remember that." he whispers to her in a tender voice, making her stand on her bed as he reaches her room and cups her face, "you're precious, and we love you till our last breath. you can call us whatever you want."
"really? taetae said he liked when i said daddy."
"i get it." jimin chuckles, pinches her cheek. "it's because you were a tiny little baby when we first saw you and you're almost like our daughter."
"so, i can say daddy if i want?"
"i mean, okay, yeah." he shrugs his shoulders.
lily gasps, covering her mouth and hugs jimin tightly, jumping on her bed, "i have daddy! thank you!"
jimin rubs her back, feeling happy and sad at the same time. happy because lily is happy, and sad because a child as young as her has to be find someone to call daddy all because her real father turned out to be an asshole.
"daddy," she whispers between an excited giggle as jimin's hugging her warmly, only to pull away and look at her face, seeing happiness seeping through her eyes and the wide smile.
"yes, princess?" jimin blinks a few times, his promise to his mother that he'll love lily like his own child and won't let her feel the absence of her parents, replaying in his head.
"let's go take a shower. i'm dirty today. i was playing a lot and became sweaty and stinky."
"hm, yeah," he nods, rubbing his eyes and pats lily's back, who jumps doen the bed with a song that she's starts singing out of nowhere, getting ready for a bath. "wait, take your towel with you."
"i'll take it when i come back. be ready to catch me, okay?"
jimin can't help but chuckle as he sits on the bed, her towel in his hands, waiting for her to come out of the bathroom and then he's quickly wrap her in it like a burrito. as lily disappears in the bathroom, singing the wrong lyrics of one of jungkook's songs, leaving jimin to ponder alone as he understands too how taehyung might've felt on hearing her call him 'daddy' so cutely and with so much live and adoration in her eyes. how could he say no to that smile?
